The staff were absolutely lovely and polite - the restaurant staff went out of their way and I want to commend them highly for taking ot in their stride when I requested support with cutting up fruit that I had been gifted with. They were also happy to support with reheating my leftovers from the day before- no questions asked. VERY kind and lovely people! I had breakfast and dinner whilst there and both were really nice and filling. The decor was nice but the room felt as though it could do with a thorough refurbish as it had a slightly run-down feel. Ghanaian natives advised me after that I could have gotten better value for money based on what I paid per night. I would also prefer for my towels not to be used for the creative display they made on my bed but instead be hung up in the bathroom and for the bed to be fully msde on arrival, but that may just be my preference.

CHUNG (10/5): I love Kumasi - Good location, not close to the centre but far from the chaos of Kumasi. Breakfast was really good. The onsite restaurant had a good menu of local food. The staff were excellent and provided great customer service. It was easy to communicate with the hotel. The pickup from the airport was great. The best thing for me was being able to organise a private driver to do some local trips with the best driver and asset to the hotel, Asante who was skillful and knowledgeable of the roads around Kumasi. Thanks Asante! The personal tours with a private driver were quite costly given we didn't drive very far, but I got the best driver in the world!

Melissa (6/5): A mediocre hotel but the the highlights are that it's safe and rather quiet. - We like the fact that it's off the main road but still quiet. The A/C works well and the morning staff and day time manager are pleasant. It's nice to have an on site restaurant. The ambiance at the restaurant is good. The food has deteriorated since we visited last year. It took almost 90 minutes for me to get a very poorly cooked pizza for dinner. The night staff seemed annoyed when we asked where our food was after an hour. It's also good to note that they cannot charge your room via your Booking.com reservation, you need to be sure and pay prior to departing the hotel. We left and had to return because they could not charge our credit card on file. It would have been nice to know this when we checked in. I recommend that they charge the credit card once you check in to avoid this situation in the future. A few tweaks with the management (especially the night staff) would go a long way to improve the service here!

However, it was unfortunate that we couldn’t use the laundry service due to bad weather, as it would have taken too long for the clothes to dry. I also inquired about a possible car service for the day and was told I would receive feedback later, but I never did.

CCTV cameras were over-bearing and rather intrusive - cameras on the terrace, 3 in restaurant! cameras along corridors, around the grounds and at at front desk - really too much and somewhat intimidating. I would suggest, slightly less focus on security cameras and more focus on comfort as bed a little hard, air-con fan a little loud and view from room, very poor. However breakfast was pleasant with pleasant and professional staff and some lovely art!

I had to pull out booking and proceed at the booking there for $35. This kinda behavior is revolting. Plus her attitude was very little helpful. Other staff members were friendlier.

We were welcomed and made to feel at home for the duration of our stay, thank you for making our visit memorable. There isn’t anything that I dislike about the property, if I had to pick something I would ask that the breakfast have a little more variety.

Loud music in the neighborhood persisted until midnight and the rooms were not very sound-insulated, but it was a nice stay overall! Easy check in/out process.

Amoah (7/5): Average budget hotel with helpful staff but the room itself is not worth the price being charged - Staff were helpful in getting things needed like extension cord, ironing and getting a taxi. They responded to my concerns and refunded money I paid for food that didn't meet my expectation The room looked old, very few power sockets and were far from the study table, the water heater is risky..becomes extremely hot and unable to adjust the water temperature since it doesn't mix up with cold water and one can easily burn someone.

Leaking shower near where the towels are held. 2 ply toilet papers need to be upgraded to better quality. It can do with a bit updating in the bedroom and boxing of some wiring.

Dazed.explorer (9/5): Superb - A nice small and very clean hotel. Very friendly staffs. Rooms are spacious enough, the bathrooms has lots of space too. Has a little restaurant in the front. It's outside of the central town, so if you have work in the town then it can be a bit inconvenient.
Katherine (2/5): Unpleasant experience - Poor value for money - Unfortunately there were not much that was good or pleasant at Asantewaa guesthouse. (it is surprising that it is referred to as "hotel" here on Booking.com. Since "guesthouse" is what is written on their sign). The flower pots and pictures in hallway as well as plants around the building were the ONLY pleasant things. Dirty room: The mattress was only covered with one thin bedspread and no duvet or bedcover was provided. When we requested at the reception we were only given a grey quilt. This is strange because quilt is what hotels put on beds to give it a fancy look - not as bedcover to sleep with. Moreover, there were stains on the mattress and the mattress itself was not place on a bed - but on wooden blocks, which as a result it was very uncomfortable to sleep. There was a filthy mat placed in the room and we found cockroaches in the room. Musty and smelly bathroom: The bathroom was so unwelcoming! Plastic buckets everywhere. Grey bath mat looks dirty. Usually hotels have white bath mats so that guests know they are putting their feet on clean mats after showering. Cold and stale breakfast: We were served dried bread and one sausage as well as cold omelette whenever we went for breakfast. It appears that their breakfast is only warm when you come at around 7 am. When you come around 9 am this is mostly cold. The waitress had to put in the microwave. Including the bread and omelette! Poor WiFi: To say poor WiFi is an understatement, since the WiFi connection is soooo bad that it is nearly non-existent! There were hours upon hours without internet connection!
