Guest Reviews
- NIcholas (6/5): - It was a nice facility and easy to navigate. Our room seemed either rushed or not cleaned at all. The bathroom had hair everywhere, even on the door hinges, tub, and floor. There was an obvious contact lens on the bathroom floor. The beds just had sheets and blankets on them, there was no tuck at the bottom, which is okay normally because I untuck, but coming into the room, it just felt undone.
- John (7/5): - Good location One luggage cart that was never there
- Libralady (4/5): Not the cleanest! - After two decent stays at this hotel, this one did not rise to that level. While the bed was comfortable, upon arrival, the sheets and comforter/cover were billowing out the bottom of the bed, not tucked in, and we had to do that ourselves. The bathroom floor was filthy. While cleaning up some spilled water with paper towels, the towels came up covered with dirt...they don’t mop too often in there. Also, there was a small pile of dirt in the corner of the floor by the tub that was easy to see while sitting on the toilet. Who leaves a little pile of dirt like that? It was disgusting.
We did not use the kitchen area, but it didn’t look like there were many plates and glasses. There is a full size refrigerator and stove, though.
After this experience, we will not be staying here again.
- Jessica (1/5): Drug addicts all thru there including workers -
- Jessica (1/5): - Nothing Staff was rude and inconsiderate I’m reporting them the man at the front desk for third shift was under the influence threatening me to call the police and when I told them call he then refused so they didn’t see how high he was all in all this property stunk
- Jessica (1/5): Staff and management was incredibly rude and they lie about everything -
- Jessica (1/5): -
- Jessica (1/5): Management and third shift do drugs together -
- Jessica (1/5): Management was highly rude -
- Charise (1/5): Horrible! I'd sleep in my car before staying at this hotel again. - The mini kitchen in my room, even though the refrigerator was dirty. That's it!! The staff was very rude, my room hadn't even been cleaned yet, there was no continental breakfast, the ice machine was broken. I could go on but I won't.
- Aukeshia (10/5): -
- Stephon (7/5): -
- Ronald (6/5): Hotel was good, staff wasn’t. - Loved having a little kitchen in the room. The staff was extremely rude!
- Brittany (4/5): - Was charged twice, once by booking.com, once by hotel, and CAN NOT get reimbursed by either! Very frustrating.
- Tango (1/5): A NIGHTMARE!!! - The two people ‘of color’ who checked me in and assisted me were wonderful! The sadness is how filthy and sunken in the bed was…by ‘American hippos’ no reflection of the staff. Nightstands were covered in ‘sticky stuff’, floors were also unclean…Specifically, covered in sticky stuff from droppings from the counters.People are gonna want to keep your shoes on -ALSO, HUGE balls of hair ****SOOO NASTY..on the floor!
The ‘free’ washers and dryers were Soo BEYOND DIRTY/scummy/filthy….
Im ANGRY to be charged money to be subjected to this CRAP!!!! I’ve gotta continue warning other people with any standards….this won’t stop here!!!…glad to add…YouTube,TikTok,instagram, etc
- Laurie (4/5): It served the purpose but was not worth $125 a night on a Sunday ands Monday night. - Close to the mall. It was a suite The staff was not pleasant. The WiFi would not connect even after i asked for assistance. Access code was not the issue. It just wouldn’t connect. No hand soap and wet eye given a used one from another room when we asked for some. No creamer for the coffee.
- Zackary (5/5): -
- Chaya (10/5): - Consistent and helpful .
- Richard (1/5): Filthy, unsanitary, disgusting - The only good thing was the location When I got to the second floor and the elevator opened there was a bag of garbage that's clearly been there for a while. The next morning a second bag had found it's home outside the elevator door. Does the staff know where to take the garbage or is bags of disgusting trash acceptable the hallway. At the end of the hallway there was even more garbage that wasn't taken care of. I'm not sure if the staff is lazy or if there's a lack of staff but there's also a lack of manners amongst the staff. They weren't very welcoming or hospitable. They are in the business of hospitality, why couldn't they be friendly and hospitable. I'd rather risk totalling my car then come back to this filthy place. I didn't even sleep under the blankets I slept over them because I was worried about the cleanliness after my first impressions. Gross
- Ivys Wife (10/5): - I loved everything The winter weather
- Ivys Wife (10/5): - Everything was amazing I liked everything
- Ivys Wife (10/5): - Everything was amazing staff was great Only thing was the pool was kinda cold but other then that it's an amazing hotel highly recommend
- Sally (10/5): Very good - Staff were very helpful and polite!
- Pedro (8/5): -
- Hillwig (9/5): -
- Meredith (6/5): - The room and staff overall were wonderful. Despite the 4 clinches. First, they had me reserved as having 2 rooms. Than, a couple tried to come into my rooms as the lady at the desk Layla booked them to go to my room as their tv wasn't working. Thirdly, the second day my key cards wouldn't work. Finally, at checkout the computer kept shutting down on the lady at the desk just to get a final receipt. She had a puzzled look on her face as she asked me the room number, name, dates, etc.than computer kept shutting down.
- Rita (10/5): - the staff were unusually pleasant and very very accommodating.
- KaiD... (4/5): Acceptable - - Bathroom was really dirty.
- Caroline (6/5): - Upon arrival at 4:00 (check-in is 3:00), they gave us the wrong room. They changed our reservation from a king to a queen suite. They corrected it, but we had to wait 20 mins for them to get the room ready. The hand soap bottle was empty, the bathroom not fully clean. Leftovers found in the fridge. Desks/counters dusty. Disappointed overall. The location is good, close to shops, eateries, all within walking distance. Staff was friendly and it was quiet on the plus side.
- Gerard (8/5): - Place was nice, but could use some maintenance. Friendly staff.
- Courtney (10/5): - My daughter hurt her ankle while off site and the staff was very helpful and accommodating to get her ice. Also, the accommodations were great and I especially enjoyed the water pressure in the shower. However, you can only enter the parking lot from one way which is a slight inconvenience.
- rosiehQ5118FW (10/5): fantastic stay! - 10/10, room was clean. & staff was friendly. i was allowed to bring my pet which made it even better! i will stay again!!!!
- Shannon (1/5): I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. - The location. Our bathroom was not clean. The toilet was dirty and they only had a half a roll of toilet paper and we had to ask for more. There was one tissue in the Kleenex box. When asked for more the person had no idea what I was asking for and just said we don’t have that and I can give you toilet paper.
- Sarah (8/5): Comfortable and good value comparing to the price. We be my choice at Erie always - Location near most of shopping and restaurant. The room was big has big refrigerator and microwave. There is Landry room and free coffee all the day. Not cleaning the room every day and when I request a cleaning they did not clean the bathroom.
- Bryan (2/5): - The service was terrible my partner and I asked 3 times for towels.no one came but they were sitting on there behind and on there cell phones.Never once in the 3 days we were staying there,Make the bed or empty garbage. We will never stay at a Candlewood suites again.
- Askar (1/5): -
- Karen (7/5): It was disappointing. - Jelissa was friendly, helpful, and courteous. she made our stay more pleasant. We found it difficult to access the property. On arrival there were only two forks and two knives available in the kitchen. The toaster did not work. There were no paper towels or toilet paper. There was no unflavored creamer for the coffee and no sleeves for the cups. It took a while to get these items. The water was cold in the pool.
- Pilo (1/5): Smells bad - Nothing Nasty
- Brandi (6/5): - First time staying there, easy check in. Room was large. Had a general dirty feel to it. The bathroom was limited stock. Shampoo and body wash were empty, even though they said they just cleaned and stocked room. Bathroom drain stopper wouldnt screw in due to the large amount of hair in the drain (gross).
- Megan (1/5): Disgusting!!! We left - Only thing was the location The air conditioning was broke in the first room. We were moved to a new room and it was absolutely filthy. Food all over in the microwave, crumbs under the sheets like they weren’t even changed between stays, slippery residue all over the floors, mold in the showers, etc. we left and refused to stay here!
- Gretchen (6/5): - Although the staff seemed very nice, they did not do anything they said they would do, no matter how many of them promised. They were also problematically disorganized.
Although there are signs in the lobby labeling the facility non-smoking, all of the common areas smelled strongly of pot smoke, even the upstairs hallways. The lobby was stiflingly stinky, as the staff was smoking so much pot on the back patio that it constantly wafted in. Not to mention, why would we want to deal with high employees? It is no wonder they did not handle their jobs well.
The "free coffee and fruit" breakfast consisted of hoping that there would be enough cups left, and the same one sad apple sitting in a basket for three days.
The snack/breakfast room (pay for items) was sparsely stocked.
The rooms were clean and did not smell of pot smoke, thankfully. Several objects in the room did not work (lights, DVD player, etc.).
- Christy (3/5): Terrible - Having the fridge was nice but it was very dirty . Food left in there from the previous ppl . Dirty dishes in the dishwasher and in the cupboard. Sand all over the bathroom floor. Dirt on the kitchen floor. Comforter on my bed was ripped. Can definitely tell the room wasn’t cleaned . Garbage and dirty linen in the hallway the whole time we was there. Not pleased at all.
- Maria (4/5): - The room I booked I was told wasn’t available. The pool was absolutely disgusting. My room was dusty. Their was construction being done on my floor and all of the work tools and objects needed to complete tasks were laying all over the floor which was a tripping hazard and also unsafe as I was staying with a toddler. Housekeeping cart and trash cart was also left on floor the entire three night stay.
- Wendy (4/5): - Location was hard to access from all that’s around. They were doing renovations when we were there and that wasn’t noted anywhere. Initial room wasn’t clean and we had to be moved. Will not stay again
- Luis (7/5): -
- N9360AMnicoler (10/5): More like home - Staying at Candlewood was a great experience for my family. It was clean, smelled fresh and the sheets were amazing!! We were overjoyed when we learned they had a washer/ dryer on site and was free, this made our trip much easier. The kitchen in our room had a full size refrigerator, stove & everything you needed to whip up a bite to eat. It felt more like home. Plus all the stores we needed were super close and easy to access
- Tiffany (10/5): - We loved the staff
- Nathan (2/5): - The bed was not made, nor was there a blanket no soap or shampoo. Both bottles were empty. Dirty floors stunk in the air conditioner barely worked.
- Cheyenna (10/5): -
- Sandra (6/5): - Seems understaffed, staff does not keep up on customers needs inside hotel. If you hunt someone down they
- Lissett (4/5): - The property seemed run down. Staff not professional. We arrived and receptionist had coworker sitting on rolling chair across receptionist desk and did not move or give privacy when being registered in. Room was filthy had film of dust on fridge and greasy fingerprints on microwave and dishwasher. Stains on bed cover. Asked to be moved to another room. This one was better but not by much. Bathroom still had stains. I would have stayed at another hotel but I had prepaid the rooms. The area was nice but the hotel was a let down. This was the first time I stayed at a Candlewood but I don’t think I ever will again. Too much money paid for such a bad experience.
- Rick (4/5): - Better food options, could be cleaner.
- Edwards (1/5): Bad -
- Marcia (4/5): - Long black hairs on bathroom floor, old used coffee filter in the maker, dried crumbs on counter, blown light bulbs in room, no body wash in shower, light bulb just hanging loose in the refrigerator, long wait for check in upon arrival with a few other guests staring at the "be back in 10 minutes" sign. Okay for a place to crash but wouldn't choose stay again if there was another option.
- Happiness21066084593 (10/5): - This is the greatest hotel with the best staff making me feel at home. The rooms are great I was very satisfied with my stay.
- Suzanne (6/5): - All the dishes and utensils were in the dishwasher dirty when I arrived. Food in little store was sparse—poor selection. No carts available at checkout. I’ve been at much nicer Candlewoods. Nice fellow checked me in, but you needed at least 3 of him to take care of all the management deficits!
- Allan (8/5): - Check in was a nightmare.
- Pioneer05816312751 (10/5): 5 Stars Will Come Again - From the moment I walked into Candlewood Suites, Amauri at the front desk made me feel like more than just a guest — he made me feel at home. His professionalism, kindness, and genuine warmth are unmatched. You can tell immediately that he takes pride in what he does and truly cares about the guest experience.
Amauri greeted me with a smile that instantly set the tone for my stay. He was incredibly helpful, efficient with check-in, and full of useful information about the hotel amenities and local area. What really stood out, though, was how effortlessly he turned what could be a routine interaction into something personal and memorable.
Whether it was a late-night question, an early morning coffee run, or just a quick chat in the lobby, Amauri was consistently friendly, attentive, and a true example of hospitality done right. He’s the kind of person who makes you want to return — not just to the hotel, but specifically to that front desk where you know someone like Amauri is looking out for you.
Candlewood Suites is lucky to have him — and so were we!
👏 Thank you, Amauri, for making our stay exceptional. You are the gold standard of service, and we’ll be telling everyone we know to stay here because of you.
- Deborah (10/5): 5 Stars. - We were happy with everything
- michael (2/5): - Check in took over an hour, and we got there an hour after check-in started.
No exhaust fan in the shower, and they gave us keys to the wrong room. It was occupied.
- Karrail (10/5): - The hotel is very nice even had a kitchen in there in the room. I was in which I thought was pretty neat. The staff were very polite and professional and everything was very clean. I definitely go back again to stay
- Joshua (10/5): Nice place to stay. - Quick night away! Water pressure was to notch!
- Silva (1/5): The sinks didn't work and the bathroom was very dirty. - The sinks didn't work and the bathroom was very dirty. The sinks didn't work and the bathroom was very dirty.
- Omar (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ezana (4/5): - All in all, we are not thrilled.
- Anya (9/5): Friendly staff; very helpful and informed about the area - The room was spacious and clean. The elevator would shake, jerk, and hesitate when going up. Also the ceilings to the room were brown and tattered. The paint was peeling.
- Sarah (2/5): - We tried to check in and were turned away because there were no clean rooms available.
- Erica (6/5): - It needs a deep clean. Someone else’s hair was on the wall of the shower and the bathroom had a general grubbiness where you could tell the floor wasn’t cleaned properly.
The pool is small and was full of children who did not care about sharing and being respectful of others.
The staff were friendly.
- Kadie (7/5): Good for the price - Staff was super super nice, and it was a good location for getting to the beach. No one cleaned the room in our 4 day stay, towels were not replaced, had to ask for towels every day and one day they said they had no clean towels
- lorettasU5065TB (2/5): Very Bad service and clearly dishonest employees - Clearly a very mis-managed hotel. The front desk receptionist was terrling the guests that it was his last day and he hated management. The following morning, the cleaning crew was clearly not coherent - and then I made the mistake of leving several items in the bathroom. I called the hotel and was first told that the items were thrown out and then in subsequent conversations, was told that 'nothing was found'. I would stay well clear of this hotel. It was my fault for leaving the items and I was willing to pay for shipping...
- Joan (2/5): - I showed up only to find out that my reservation had been canceled. There were no rooms for me there or at any other hotel in the area so my entire trip was ruined. I received no notice that the hotel was overbooked prior to me arriving, which could’ve allowed me to change my plans. On top of that the front desk person was rude as if I should’ve known better. I will never use Expedia again.
- Kristen (4/5): - Check in was a nightmare! This property was clearly going through a change of management/? on that day. The Manager told us that it was his last day and that everyone it had been a rough day and everyone was sad. He was attempting to do right by people but it appeared things were way out of his control.
They were assigning rooms and when the guest got to the room it was not cleaned. This happened to me, my daughter, 2 others we were traveling with. I also spoke with 2 couples in the elevator who said they were also having issues.
The next day, when I checked out, I overheard a woman employee complaining about the guest.
I feel this location should compensate the guest that evening.
- Shawn (4/5): - They only had 1 staff member there at all times. No towels at the pool and extremely restricted hours at the pool as well even tho the sign said 6am-10pm. No toilet paper in the lobby bathrooms. The room was ok. It was large and pretty clean. I certainly would not use anything in the kitchen tho. I did appreciate that they had five products in the bathroom. But with our overall experience I would not stay here again. There are too many choices in a place like Erie.
- 50statesterritories (2/5): They need to pull the franchise - Arrived a bit after 1, the clerk, who wasn’t even wearing a uniform, said bluntly “check in is at 3”. I ask if there is no room, and he said yes. He didn’t even bother to check. I called IHG customer service, and they were of no help. The GM of the hotel later calls, who I found out was the person I called to earlier, and was extremely rude. I just about cancelled but sent through with it.
I arrive and get my room. Bed not made and trash not taken out, obviously it was not cleaned. I immediately called down and asked for a new room. I go to the desk and am given a new room. I was promised some points for the error, yet have not received them, nor the IHG welcome points.
Bathroom has small spots of mildew or mold in the corner of the tub and the desk is worn with paint splatters. Some plugs don’t work, nor does the light above the mirror in the bathroom. A/C is malfunctioning, I had to set it all the way down to 66 to not feel stuffy. The wall controls do not work either. Obviously maintenance is not a priority here.
Never again. Worst IHG hotel I’ve ever stayed in. They need to pull the franchise.
- Jared (9/5): Superb -
- Cortney (2/5): I wouldn’t return because of the cleanliness - Went into the first room and nothing was cleaned, dirty dishes in the sink bed not made the bathroom was a mess. I asked for a different room and luckily got one. It was somewhat nicer but still not very clean. Cleanliness
- Cam (2/5): - When they were inputting my deposit, I was charged an extra amount equating to over 20 times what the room cost which flagged my credit card and locked it while there for work for a week.
Took days to fix the issue. Never received any points, free stay, or anything.
- John (7/5): Great room was nice needed some upgrades - Nice needs someone updating Good location great staff
- Ken (8/5): We had a blast - We loved our room. Need more towels.
Didn't like how you have to go around the mall parking lot then back into the main road just to access the hotel parking lot
- Allison (4/5): Not the best experience - Staff Pool was ice cold. First room shower didn’t work
- Price (7/5): Miserable - Room was comfortable and nice The staff harassed me about payment for room that was already paid for and threatened to kick me out. We had confirmation from booking.com that it was paid for, but they still continued to harass me and my partner our whole stay. Not happy with staff treatment.
- Amber (8/5): I will be back! - Place was very clean, name brand amenities, complimentary coffee and fruit, and dead stack in the middle of everything great about Erie. Never drove more than 10 minutes to anything we wanted to do or see.
- Britanya (10/5): - We loved the experience and will be staying there again very soon. Thanks for the hospitality
- Michele (10/5): Exceptional - The area and atmosphere was very nice. When we came to check in whoever was in charge was too busy watching there phone and it took husband almost 15 minutes to get us checked in. Mind you we didn't make it in til after 2am. Other than that I can't complain!
- William (10/5): - Excellent, I would just say that they should modify the cleaning of the rooms a little more, especially the bathrooms so that they do not have mold stains... everything else is perfect... it's worth it.
- Wendy (4/5): - Booked a king size bed, got a queen handicapped room. No body wash in the show
- Teressa (4/5): - When we entered our room we noticed the fridge and the ice maker were off. The ice maker didn't work. The frige wasn't working right. The body soap in the shower was empty. The shampoo and conditioner was half empty the heater wasn't working right. The sink in kitchen wasn't draining the water. We get there Sunday evening and wasn't in the room Monday till evening didn't notice the sink didn't dain till Tuesday morning when it was full of water from the night before when i was washing a cup out. when we checked out The lady at the desk after we told here what was wrong said we never should have had that room. 🤔 it was to be renovated and she had a weird look. So the young blonde that checked us in didn't know no one was to be in that room 🤔. NOT SMART! Our first time there and our last !!!!
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good -
- Scott (8/5): Overall a 4 star - It was a good stay. Easy to get to. Great location walking distances to alot of stores and restaurants
- Ohls (5/5): Staff was good - I don't think they had breakfast, i know free coffee. Room had dirty towels in it that looked like they had dried blood on them. Looked like black mold in the corner of the tub.
- Moyer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cindy (10/5): - Very friendly Staff
- Long (10/5): Exceptional -
- Breanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vina (7/5): Good -
- Andreia (8/5): - Room was huge. Pool was nice for the kids and husband, I thought it was little cold but I'm always cold lol. Heater in bedroom worked but not main living area. Most outlets had something in them so couldn't use them. So had to make do with what ones we could use. The staff was so nice. Gave us extra pillows n sheets and blankets for the pull out couch. Shower was nice and warm and bathroom was very spacious. Kitchen area was nice and tons of space. Only set back was the outlets. Would so stay again though. We had 1 king bedroom and that was super spacious. Weekend stay was nice. Though be nice if exit and entrance had different outlet that wasn't on main busy one way road. But doesn't take away from how great this hotel and staff are.
- Kayler (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - Staff was amazing
- Larissa (8/5): It was a pleasant stay- we actually had to stay another night due to the weather and they were kind enough to help us wi - It was right near the mall- which was our reason for going
- Jeremy (2/5): - Good afternoon. A few challenges with our stay. We were not able to get the room we booked. We were told at front desk this was an expedia issue and not there problem. We were shuttled between three different rooms. The second room we were given keys to was occupied with other guests when we walked in. We settled on a different room that was not what we booked. We would like to hear back as to why this happened. Thanks.
