- linda (2/5): - Expedia's name should absolutely not be associated with this property. The dirt, grime and filth were unimaginable ! The shower didn't work properly and only offered a 'drip'. When I was handed the room key, it was black with filth and sticky. I went to my car to get my sleeping bag, layed that down and slept in it. Before resuming travel the next day, I took it to the laundromat. If you would credit my card for that room, you will be praised and I would be eternally grateful. I didn't expect the Ritz; but, certainly didn't expect to sleep in squalor and filth. Thank you, Linda M Weber, (I am a senior citizen) the faster you disassociate yourself, the better off in the future you will be.
- Linda (8/5): - Wow. This motel didn't look like much from the street, but the room was super-clean, and the TV--amazing! It was a 60" or larger television. Wow. The bathroom could use a little bit more fit and finish; there were a couple of places where grout was missing. The furnishings were dated, but in good condition. We were only there for one night, on our way to see family, but for a 1-night stay, the Surrey Motel was perfect for us.

- Henry (6/5): - - This motel did not have an ice maker - There are a lot of bird nests under the awning just outside of the rooms. These birds start making a lot of noise starting at 4:45 am in June, making it hard to sleep.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not stay here! - Check in window was not manned. Waited 20 mins for a person to arrive to check in. Room was in terrible condition. Under the bed did not look to have been cleaned for years! Room was 40 degrees and would only be heated by a small heater that took an hour to warm up. Room was so gross, I slept in my clothes to not touch the linens. Do not stay here!

- JohnT301 (6/5): Another return visit - Ok, FIRST off, this isn't the ritz, but IF you're in the Starved Rock area and just want a decent, clean, reasonable sleeping room, then THIS is for you. The owners have worked on many "updates" to the place and it's quiet, and the beds are very comfortable. Also, without the "Starved Rock" park price. A note: If your wifi goes out, call the woman at the desk so she can re-set the line.

- Molly (4/5): Eh there weren't any bugs at least - It was a gross, run down, cheap motel Exactly what you'd expect though Didn't see any bugs except one fly that followed us in which was nice, definitely bring your own blankets and towels.

- Dustin (2/5): - First off, I don't leave reviews..... ever, but you need to be warned. It was a 100 degree day, couldnt wait to get into a cool room, but the AC pretty much didnt work. You could have grown tomatos in there. Then I was sitting on the corner of the bed watching tv as close to the AC as possible, (because beyond 5-7 feet from it was hopeless) the foot of the bed fell off, and upon inspection, it was all bent and banged up, you could tell this had happened several times before, and rigged back together. Then I went to use the restroom, and turned on the sink to wash my hands and the water ran brown for 2 or 3 seconds, and decided I was better off not. There was also a short power outage and an ambient smell of slight sewer gas. If you are safety guy, you'll get a kick out of how they wired the wall lamp with speaker wirebfrom out of the side of an outlet cover. This place is a dump. I feel slightly bad giving this review, but i paid 64 bucks for this experience, and no sleep. Had room 18.
- td397 (4/5): NO - This place is just down right a dump. Don't do it. The seediness of the outside is the same / even worse - on the inside. Tried it because all the motels in this area (Ottawa) are sooo expensive (even the cheap brands) and at a little over 60 bucks here - I just left after a few minutes without even bothering asking for a refund - because I am sure it is one of "those" places that would fight you tooth and nail about a refund. Don't waste your time health or money here.
- kylek1939 (10/5): Good Value for you money - We were here for a body building competition.The people here were very pleasant and helpful. Just off I 80. Was very pleased that the rooms was very clean, nice staff. Free internet fridge and microwave in room. Would definitely come back if need be.

- Amanda (6/5): Friendly last resort. - Old hotel filled with mismatched second hand furniture. Smelt musty and had multiple things plugged into over drawn outlets. Not worth the price but will do if you need a quick place to crash.

- Kendra (8/5): - I was in for a fishing tournament, and had camped in a tent the night before. Was extremely sun burned & tired, so just wanted a nice bed. The folks at Surrey were super nice, and helpful! They even let me stay a little later than normal check out time. The room is a little outdated, but it wasn't terrible, at all! Especially for the price! The air in the room worked great, which was amazing, considering it was a 90 degree day! If I am ever back in the area, I will stay here again!
- roberto (2/5): Worst Motel i've seen in my life - This Motel is not even close to be a Motel. Doors knobs didnt work. So the main door had a chain to lock it. Bathroom door didnt close. Tv furniture was old like picked from an alley. Towels were probably like 5 years old. They werent even white anymore. And the lamp was just put up on the wall and conected to one of the sockets. I wasnt expecting a luxurious motel but i've paid less at Motel 6 Super 8 and for waaaay better neatness. Please either rebuild your motel or go out of business.
- janethV5651FE (4/5): A nice place for the price. - The room was spacious and clean...that's all I need to sleep. I would rate my stay higher, except it lacks any outlet in the bathroom and I fell out of the bathtub as I showered. I turned around and slipped (didn't seem to be any stripes in the tub) fell backwards out of the tub onto a slippery floor, hitting my lower left side of back. Seemed to be ok, but mentioned it to management.
- Jose (10/5): Nice place! - Our stay at the Surrey Motel was great. We were only there for the night and really just needed a place to crash. The staff was friendly and helpful before and during our stay!
- Judith (2/5): Charge Extra to leave the lights on! - Very old and rundown. However the staff was very accommodating when I arrived late into the evening. However the room was extremely dirty as was the shower in the bathroom. The final upset eas the sign that said if you leave the heat/ac on or lights they had the right to charge $75 to your credit card.

Noisy, people coming in all times at night.very thin walls. No coffee in the morning not even at office. I would recommend finding a different motel. Even it's a little more money.

- jimvaughn2 (2/5): Not Really Clean - This motel is very unkept and falling apart, doors bad, bathroom knobs bad, young girls were in one room and a large white truck came multiple times and picked up girls and returned them one by one... Police showed up a little after 11pm and still not sure what happened. Did not sleep needless to say...

Even had a friend staying there for a month and a 1/2 and they were good people to make sure he was looked after and it didn't kill me $ wise. I would recommend them!!!!!! Also beats the prices of the "Chain" hotels in the area.

- robertfS5568JA (8/5): Good value for the price - It's an older building and definitely not fancy. But it was clean, quiet and well maintained. WiFi was fine and the room didn't reek of smoke like many budget places. As good as the major economy chains and far less expensive.
- JohnT301 (6/5): Decent place for a night - Found myself in Ottawa for a local auction, and DIDN"T want to pay the $$ for the "premium hotels" which were jacked up because it's by Starved Rock park AND there was a sky diving gathering in town, so NO rooms, This place was sufficient, it's a traveling crowd-R.R. and construction workers, Single mom with several kids from S.D. on vacation, and such, overall, quiet, everything worked, the internet was fine and it's a BASIC place, no frills, but also HALF the price of the other "joints" in town, so IF you' on a budget, and just spending a night or two. This place ain't bad. I've paid more for MUCH worse in my travels.
