Guest Reviews
- Scott (1/5): Don’t, just don’t - Location. Close to our family. Shower water pressure good. Everything. Room dirty. Bathroom walls dirty. Pillows very flat. Bed worn and slanted.
If it hadn’t been a long drive day would have gone someplace else.
- Towe (3/5): It was meh. - Close to family. Very strong moldy/musty smell as well as stained possibly dirty mattress cover, place was pretty dirty and the carpet was questionable.

- Laura (8/5): - Older hotel with great staff. It was safe and provided a great place for a stop over on the way to TN. I would definitely stay here again.
- Gabriel (10/5): -
- Cheryl (10/5): - Comfortable, clean, convenient and well located near nature interests in the area. Perfect for our stay to do white water raft on the Chatooga.
Great shower and comfortable beds.
- William (8/5): - I got an economy queen room. It was price appropriate. The room was like a single level college dorm. It was very clean and well maintained.
- Alan (5/5): Economical but sketchy. One and done. - The room was clean and quiet, we were in the building in the back. It was economical. Had a fridge and microwave in the room. The sign at check-in set the tone: "visitors limited to 30 minutes ". What goes through your mind?
I don't think I've ever stayed in a motel room that had cinderblock walls. Smelled like it had just been sprayed with disinfectant
AC blew right on the bed. The bathroom was very basic, not appealing. Sheets were pilly.
Would not recommend.
- James (6/5): - This is just your basic hotel. It wasn't dirty or uncomfortable... it was just basic. The water pressure in the shower was almost non-existent. The owner does a good job in trying to make things look good. If you show up in the evening, about the only place I could find to eat was Arby's... and I hate fast food.
- Mary (10/5): - Convenience to where I needed to be
- Dwight (8/5): - We only spent one night, for a show at the PAC. Room was nice, and well kept.. bed was comfortable..
- Raymond (10/5): - The owners who lived onsite were very friendly and nice. The place was immaculate and clean. Everything was great.
- Martin (10/5): - Very satisfied! Thank you!!
- Robert (7/5): -
- Cindee (8/5): - Nice, clean
- C (3/5): Dirty room - Close to downtown Wahalla. Room was dirty. Bathroom was not clean. I found a used tampon behind the toilet and was never picked up by housekeeping indicating floor was never cleaned even during my 4-day stay. Fridge was stained with some sort of liquid.
- Mary (10/5): -
- Christopher (1/5): - Did not stay the place is too sketchy for myself and kid to stay. The whole thing and the fact they will not refund my money.
- Sharon (9/5): Superb - Clean, quiet, safe and close proximity to shopping, restaurants, hiking and lakes. Nothing, would stay there again.
- AMY (6/5): - This is definitely and older establishment. The toilet was leaking behind on the floor and the very dimly lit sink had a burned out bulb. Bed was hard. Convenient for what I needed I wasn't hanging out in the room.
- Diane (10/5): - I loved the fact that we could open windows and listen to the rain and get a cross-breeze in the room. I loved the fact that no pets and no smoking were allowed; this kept the rooms clean and funk-free! The site was very quiet and, in our case where our room was in the back lot, extremely quiet with a view of trees and lawn. Within walking distance of downtown, where the businesses were friendly and helpful, especially the staff and owner of Mountain Mocha! The owner of Rodeway was very thoughtful, fair, and efficient.
- Jason (2/5): - Toilet didn't work and there is no room to get in the shower sink was right in the shower
- Glatz (1/5): Bad - NOTHING Bed bugs everywhere. We left
- Marcela (10/5): Exceptional - We were very satisfied with the hotel, the room smelled good and was clean, very comfortable beds. Pleasant service.
- marion (10/5): - Good location
- George (7/5): Good -
- Sonia (8/5): Very good - The room was clean and comfortable. Near everything.
- debra (10/5): Nice no thrills hotel - This is a nice little no frills hotel, the only complaint is the tile floors in the bathroom stayed cold but thankfully i carry slippers on trips!!
- Danny (8/5): - Ouiet
- Stephen (8/5): Older property but in good shape and clean -
- Jacky (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Christina (2/5): - The property is okay. It’s clean for the way it looks and affordable. The window units suck. We have had issues with them working everytime we’ve stayed. There is shady stuff that does happen so it’s always best to go to your room and try to not engage with other people there. The gentleman that stayed next to us had people come in and out of his room through the day and more so through the night hours.
My boyfriend and I are also locals to the area and we have stayed here a couple times before during or after bad weather and had outages in our area so we would come stay here for the price and location. My boyfriend and I travel a lot and we’ve never really had any issues ever anywhere, but with our last stay here we were accused of smoking in the room and the owner/manager claimed it wreaked of marajuana. We hadn’t even smoked in the room at all. We have stayed in hotels much nicer than this that had sensors in the detectors that alert security that there is “smoke” in the room. We have NEVER been banned or accused of smoking ever in any of the places we’ve stayed at and like I’ve said, we’ve stayed in places way nicer than this. We are travelers and go a lot of places and to have someone accuse us of this in our local home area of something that we never did really bummed us out bc we have used that hotel as a place for our safety and now we aren’t even allowed to ever rent or return to the property.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (10/5): Usually stay when i come in town - Good place for the money
- Schmidt (7/5): Good -
- Errol (10/5): Excellent quaint little place. - The staff is always friendly and makes me feel like family. Very comfortable and convenient to town.
- Patrick (4/5): - Didn’t like
- George (6/5): Pleasant -
- Chris (4/5): - We were dissatisfied with the room, we left a day early, so was hoping for a refund
- Marie (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the Roadway Inn . It was conveniently located for us. Our room was clean and comfortable. We would stay again.
- Genevieve (6/5): - TL;DR: Only 1 person in the building can shower at a time. Very loud.
The stay reminded me of my college days. The room looked like a dorm - just enough space to walk around the bed, but very tiny.
The person above me was an elephant, I'm pretty sure, which had me wishing I had a broom to bang on the ceiling. Don't get me started on the doors banging open/close all night.
Only 1 person in the building can shower at a time and water doesn't have a hot setting, just luke warm to cold. Person above me turned on their shower about 5 minutes into my shower, so I had to switch to using the sink to clean up because the water pressure dropped to 0.
I'd give the room a cleanliness score of 7/10. Floors were dirty but otherwise the room seemed clean.
TV channels sucked. No TLC or HGTV. They do have MTV and the local news.
- Roberta (2/5): Price of a 3 star hotel but is a 0 star motel - This is a very run down old (like 1950s 1960s) motel. The room was clean, but it was very old. The window in the bathroom would not shut all the way, the bed was awful, and the two pillows on each bed were flatter than the mattresses. I paid way too much for this motel. There were no chains or safety locks on the door and anyone could bust in. I'm glad it was for over night only because if it was longer one could only have a visitor for 30 mins.
- Evans (8/5): Very good -
- James (8/5): - Mostly ok
- Hummer (9/5): Great place to stay in town. Close to several places to eat. - Very friendly and helpful staff! Clean room. Quiet. I was satisfied with everything.
- Mary (6/5): It was mainly clean, location was great, and the staff was really friendly - It was really convenient to where I needed to be The shower smelled of urine
- Will (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jon (4/5): - The TV did not work
- Bk (5/5): Adequate - It was clean but very dated. Some TLC would help a lot.
Chosen for it’s location. More information could have been given at check in.
Felt a little like being guests at a stranger’s home.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Erika (1/5): Bad - Nothing We fine Cockroaches in the beds
- Stephen (10/5): - Easy check-in, quiet, near center of town
- Jessica (4/5): - Good for a quick overnight but very low condition not worth the price had to wait an hour to get checked in because the employee forgot his password to login and had to get it reset by corporate.
- Wintrode (7/5): Answered the mail. - It was quiet and affordable. The toilet handle sticks (Room 119).
- Thomas (10/5): - Nice place to stay. Very clean. Friendly staff.
- Brian (8/5): Simple stay over place - Simple quick stay spot that is a no frills and efficient. Staff was very friendly (even close to midnight when I checked in) and made check in quick and efficient. Bed was comfortable. Someone wrote that the beds were too firm, I didn’t think so. It was just fine. Would I stay here again passing through Walhalla? Yes. Felt safe in the area. Wasn’t worried about my vehicle getting vandalized. Wasn’t worried about someone sneaking in through a window. All in all, good stay
- Christina (7/5): Good -
- Lebroncolon (10/5): - Only issue other customers park their car in reverse so that exhaust system blows into the rooms
- Carol (4/5): - The economy room was a small dark depressing room. I had no idea I was booking such a dismal room as it was not indicated on the website. Though there was refrigerator and microwave, there was no place to hang clothes and only open shelves under the TV. There was a clothes rack on the wall but no hangers and no blow dryer (there wasn't even an outlet in the bathroom). When I asked for these things the manager responded that it was an economy room and gave me the dryer. Housekeeping never brought hangers. Breakfast was cereal and breads.
Also the remote only worked if you sat at the edge of the bed. Also, the steps to the office are dangerous...no landing in front of the door. I can't believe that this place has gotten good reviews. Worst accommodations I have had in many years!
- Donna (10/5): Comfortable, safe motel in excellent, convenient location - Clean, comfortable, friendly, helpful staff. Felt safe. Very close to our event. Needs updating. Painting lighter, cheerful colors would brighten it. Take out old, dark carpet and put in lighter engineered wood floors. Would make it feel even cleaner. It was clear staff cleaned, however, the facility and furnishings are so old, it makes their job difficult.
- CHARLES (8/5): - The ad shows a brick building but it has been painted dull grey. The rooms in the back face an old run down barn structure. Inside room was very clean and updated. There was a painted over window in the bathroom that was not appealing it should have been covered with a curtain.
- Nancy (8/5): Clean but unattractive area - The room was recently renovated and very clean. There was a daycare/summer camp right next to the hotel but the noise didn’t bother me. They are repainting the outside and have done a nice job so far. The parking lot and green area still need work. The breakfast is in the tiny lobby with no place to sit and not much to choose from. They did have bananas and yogurt.
- Kathy (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (2/5): Go anywhere else!! Sleep in your car if you gotta! - The very sweet cleaning lady. She really helped me and my friend a lot when the owner was harassing us. This place looks ran down and scary. If you aren’t paying attention you might be subjected to getting snatched. Definitely would only make this place a last resort option. Only good for sleeping. The bathroom had hairs in it. The beds were stained and the room smelled musty when you walk in. The owner is an old grump, not very friendly kinda scary looking. He likes to lie and say you were smoking in the room even if you clearly didn’t AT ALL!
- Bobby (8/5): Older but clean hotel - Perfect fit for what I needed, , clean, close to dinning options, overnight stay as I drove mountain roads
- Bryan (10/5): Exceptional - Good place to stay Was all good, location
- Carlton (8/5): Very good - I liked that it was quiet and clean. The check in clerk was very nice. The bed wasn't comfortable to my hubby.
- Fauricio (8/5): Very good -
- Joel (8/5): Very good -
- Ronald (10/5): - Nice for a budget motel room. It was clean. No smells. Friendly staff. Decent beds and furniture. Nice walk in shower. (no tub) Breakfast was quite good by budget motel standards. Cereal, milk, Activa yogurt, Coffee, OJ, Bagels and cream cheese or butter plus a couple other things. Overall nicer than most budget motels.
- Daniel (9/5): I came to Walhalla to see a show at the Walhalla Performing Arts Center. This was the only hotel. - Did not have breakfast. A digital alarm clock would have been nice.
That way I would not have to turn on the light to see my watch.
I do not have a smart phone that I can leave on all night to display the time.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Very basic hotel room. It was fine for one night. Inexpensive.
- Ken (2/5): - Bought the insurance. Tried to cancel reservations. Tried to call the phone number to the Inn, got a notification that the call could not be connected.
Tried to file a claim, unsuccessful. Terrible website.
- Bill (4/5): - Why modest but cheap.
- MARIO (10/5): - Quite
- MARK (10/5): - Nice room. I would stay here again
