- Christine (8/5): Very pleasant stay. - The main downside is that there is no lift and it could do with a lick of paint but otherwise it is well equipped and staff were very pleasant and attentive. We were only there for 3 nights but towels were changed twice and room tidied each day. There is a good variety on the restaurant menu too. We have stayed here at other times in the past too and will again.

- peter (10/5): Lovely cool and comfortable room. - Loved this place. Very few hotels in the area have air conditioning so having a beautifully cool room was a huge bonus for me. In summary - modern, clean and welcoming. The bed was also amazingly comfortable!

- SARAH (10/5): - We had a lovely stay here for 4 nights. The room was spacious, clean and well presented. The room overlooked the garden and the views were stunning. The bed was really comfy too. The food was wonderful and the staff were very friendly and chatty. We found it very easy to travel around as it is near to the major roads. We will definitely stay again.

Car parking was easily accessed with more than adeuate space. Finally all the staff were friendly and happy to please.
- Keri (8/5): Ideal location friendly hotel - Nice large room, welcome aircon on arrival in heatwave. Plenty of space for clothes. Comfy bed and pillows. Large shower room. Fresh supply of biscuits, tea and milk each day. Unfortunately no sugar, went to reception who apologised and got some from cupboard near room but only few cubes left. No sugar was supplied for rest of the week. Bought sugar in local shop. Marvellous views from balcony area in bar overlooking countryside. Plenty of parking spaces. Hotel ideally situated near train and bus station - just 10 min walk downhill.

- Verified traveler (6/5): POOR. Will not stay there again. - This hotel was brilliant when new but maintenance and cleaning have not kept up. Look in room 26: The bathroom door didn't shut properly, the sink is partially blocked, the handwash next to the sink was missing. Black mould in the shower, filthy ceiling extract filter. Room servicing: We stayed for 7 nights. On arrival there was a bottle of water plus the usual tea bags, sugar, milk and coffee. These were not replenished each day. The tap water tasted awful, I had to ask for sugar and for drinking water from reception. How difficult is it to do a daily replenishment. Our room wasn't serviced at all on one day. The room itself was dim and the bathroom dimmer. LED lights ned to be installed as s as possible. Overall for the price charged, I expected much higher standards. This is a competitive market and with numerous Premier Inns and Travelodges in the area The County Arms needs to buck up or it will not survive.

- Alissa (6/5): - Very noisy from traffic and shouting till very late. Bathroom is shower over bath so not great if you want to wash hair. Menu very basic difficult to find a healthy choice. For the price was not good valued that didn’t inc bfast. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly.

The rooms are nice and spaciouis and the high quality bed linen/towels etc. make is to much more pleasant. Restaurant menu is a bit more curtailed than my last visit, but that is commonplace everywhere I believe - still a decent variety of options.

Had a lovely meal in the restaurant, again staff was fast to serve us and very attentive of when we needed help or more ordering, would come back here again!

Only complain would be that for the money the full english breakfasts did not include teas/coffees. And, the portions were very small, more like kids portions! However, the bed seems to be a bit too soft.

- Tamsin (10/5): Wonderful one night stay - We had a wonderful one night stay as a small family (couple with a toddler). The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was spotless. We had a family room with views of the valley. The beds were comfortable and the coffee machine was a lovely touch. Plenty of space as well. We had both dinner and breakfast at the adjoining restaurant, both were very good quality and tasty. It was very busy for saturday night people having their dinner... its obviously very popular, and for good reason. We would definitely recommend. And would return again.

There was a welcoming professional greeting on arrival and the room and facilities were well ahead of our expectations. There was a well organised arrangement with a local taxi firm and they arrived exactly when required in the morning. - Verified traveler (10/5): Can't fault the stay - Can't fault the stay. Absolute bargain price for the night for such a spacious, clean and cosy room. Great hot drink facilities including a coffee machine! The only thing I did notice was a massive stain on the blanket at the end of the bed which was mentioned to reception on check out. But still can't fault the place, wasn't too noisy from the road, considering I'm a very light sleeper.
- France (10/5): What a very pleasant experience in Cornwall ! - Our stay was just perfect. we needed a special room for an old man in a wheelchair. We had it , with a special bathroom for this kind of problem. Easy to go from the car park to hotel and from hotel to restaurant. same level ground floor.

- Alistair (10/5): Great local hotel close to the hospital - I stayed here with a group of colleagues on a multi-day business trip and really enjoyed the stay. We staff and the service was excellent. We ate in for supper on both nights as it was convenient and the food was great. Breakfast was very good with the best bacon I have tasted in ages - I can recommend the full Cornish or the bacon bap - heaven!

Less than 10 minutes from the main part of the town.....easily accessible by multiple methods of transport. Room was very spacious, laid out well, very well equipped....and even had a nespresso coffee machine. Very comfortable indeed

The room inside was very largely clean and had all the facilities I needed including regular supplies of tea and coffee. The menu was varied and I enjoyed the evening meal I had there. The room was a little noisy with the hotel being on the main road and faced onto the car park when better viewed rooms might have been available? The hotel was perfect for the station which I used regularly.

- Verified traveler (6/5): It did the job - It did the job. The hotel was generally nice, however, not the best in regards to being welcoming or accommodating for guests. Would not recommend staying on Sundays due to the pub quiz (if you do, book ahead for a table). We chose this hotel to try out the St Austell drinks and was left disappointed when a table was not available at any time due to precautions for the quiz which we would have happily taken part in. We would have greatly appreciated an email ahead warning of this. The irony of this being when we drove to leave the hotel during this time we could see many free tables (as well as when we returned). We were offered free room service as a response to this (which felt like them putting us out of the way a little), however, when attempting to use this, the bar staff were not aware, and to top it off, the vegetarian option my partner wanted was not available! We ended up driving into town and only used the accomodation for a bed and shower for the night. We had originally planned to book 5 days here to use as a base whilst travelling around Cornwall, which we are certainly glad we didn't (though it was a large clean room and relatively modern). A disappointment compared to the other St Austell owned venues we have visited in both Newquay and St Ives.
