Guest Reviews
- Sergio (10/5): - Beautiful property. Excellent breakfast. Wonderful service. Delicious dinner
- Antoinette (10/5): - It was so beautiful and relaxing
- Kelly (10/5): - The staff and property were outstanding. Very comfortable and down to earth. Breakfast was excellent. We did do one dinner on the property that was awesome. Cant say enough about what a wonderful, restful and rejuvenating weekend it was.
- Alex (10/5): - Bear Mountain Lodge is a beautifully appointed, quiet, comfortable retreat surrounded by 180 acres of wilderness. The staff was wonderful in every way. Breakfast was a work of art, as tasty as its presentation. No question we shall return if ever in that part of the country again, but we will plan to stay several days,
- Ann (10/5): - What a special place to relax, recharge and feel inspired!
- Robert (10/5): - very secluded, very peaceful and great staff
- Dean (10/5): - Large rooms and bathrooms; could use more shelf/counter space in the bathroom.
- John (10/5): - I didn't get maid service. An oversight on their part, I guess. I was only there 2 nights.
- Ethan (10/5): - A medical issue raised its head when I checked in. The care and support I received went well beyond any call of duty. The place is beautiful, curated with quality art throughout. The room was like a luxurious home with a balcony over looking a vast expanse of nature. The breakfast was delectable. But above all of this, in the words of AmEx commercials — the sense of security and care was priceless. Such good good people. My deepest gratitude.
- Hebe (10/5): - Just 17 minutes away from downtown Silver City you will find a gem to stay at Bear Mountain Lodge. It is a historic property, excellently maintained and run in a very friendly manner. They offer breakfast and dinner, and the culinary experience was above standard and delicious. The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious, clean, and well appointed. The bed was comfortable, which is something not always the case at hotels. We were very pleased with our stay, and plan to return in the future.
- Rhea (10/5): - We had a beautiful, relaxing stay this weekend at Bear Mountain. The food was outstanding, room pristine & I love that we were given lots of privacy.

- David Charles (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. The surrounding area is beautiful. The breakfast was excellent. We really appreciated the guest binder with the history of Bear Mountain Lodge and things to do at the property and in Silver City. Thank you again, and we hope to stay with you all again!
- Gloria (2/5): - Very beautiful scenery but overpriced and we didn’t like how the room had no tv, no microwave, no fridge. I want it to feel like a home away from home. Way overpriced for just a bed and bathroom.
- Benjamin (10/5): - Property was beautiful

Great experience!
- Noel (6/5): - No TV, Low lighting in the room, breakfast was terrible
- Jeannette (10/5): Pinyon jays and mountain air at artist’s lodge - Our stay was a dream come true! A beautifully restored 1930’s lodge, acres of high desert land with trails to see and hike, decorations by commissioned artists, natural foods lovingly prepared, and friendly and caring staff! I just loved it all!
- Richard (10/5): - Beautiful place, friendly people, very relaxing stay

- Alan (10/5): - Location
- Stephanie (10/5): - My expectations were exceeded. This is in the top 5 of pleasant experiences. I loved the history of the home and enjoyed reading the book left in our room.
The breakfast was delicious. The banana nut bread was the best I ever had. Loved the breakfast appetizer of yogurt with fresh fruit and granola. I hope to enjoy the dinner on our next visit! Service was great and attentive to all needs.
The room was well thought out with every comfort. The quiet was relaxing and we enjoyed the hikes and trails. A definite do over and will recommend to friends.
- Karen (10/5): Great, quiet stay! - Wonderful location tucked away from Silver City. Lodge was in great condition with lots of character. Rooms were quiet and comfortable - but be aware there is no TV or phone in the room. Three wonderful hiking trails on the property. Only recommendation to the Lodge would be a bell for guests to ring when they need assistance in the main entrance- we had to wander around to find someone to check us in and out. A great place - highly recommend!
- Charles (10/5): - Great place! Excellent staff, food, and grounds.
- William (10/5): - We liked the owners and staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A special place on a very special location
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very lovely lodge with pleasing grounds and great views. Staff is pleasant and welcoming. Food is typical B&B. Rooms are spacious and pleasant but we did notice a distinct musty odor. My wife especially loved the small pond with a recirculating stream of water. It attracted dragonfly’s which she loved.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The awesome property is in a wilderness setting, you have to drive a level dirt road to reach it, sooo cool!
- John C (10/5): A lovely spot - The place is in s beautiful location, a few miles from Silver City. It is an old property, but well maintained and run by very friendly folk.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quaint, rustic, off the beaten track family run lodge. Home cooked meals, just delightful!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is the “go to” place in silver city
Very unique New Mexico gem.
We enjoy it very much.
Thank you for having us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A nice visit to rest, where not surprises are found, Room is clean and very confortable bed. Bathroom is spotless. Staff is always looking to please you.
- Sheila (10/5): Very Special Place - This is our 2nd stay here. Wonderful facility on hundreds of acres but a short drive to town. We enjoyed a glass of wine in front of the fireplace before heading out to dinner. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and nicely furnished. Hope to come back for a longer stay in warmer weather.
- Cory (10/5): Superb! - This place is top-drawer! Unbelievable historic lodge and proprietor! Jeff is an absolute peach of a gentleman. You cannot go wrong here — the architecture, the art, the vistas — unparalleled!
- megan (10/5): Lovely place for a fall staycation! - We chose the Bear Mountain Lodge for a long family weekend and stayed in the Wren's Nest. We LOVED it! the lodge was a lovely, quiet retreat featuring interesting art, interesting grounds to explore and great views. Everyone was so welcoming and nice. Jeff offered great suggestions for things to do and places to eat. And the breakfasts each morning served on the patio were delicious. We also appreciated the COVID safety measures the staff took to make sure guests felt comfortable. Silver City is a fun, funky little town to explore and there's plenty to do in the vicinity. We'll definitely be back.
- abby (10/5): - really amazing breakfast, picturesque setting, beautiful hotel
- Matthew (10/5): Weekend getaway - Amazing and intimate escape
- Marsh (10/5): - The location is just beautiful. Our room was great - clean and comfy. Be aware - no television. the only negative is that we were offered dinner, but we had no idea of the price. We were blindsided by the expensive price - the dinner was nice but not $35 each kind of nice.
- Yancy (10/5): - Beautiful scenery, nice escape for a while. Friendly staff, beautiful rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was our first visit to Silver City and as we were driving through town toward the Bear Mountain Lodge, we were a little worried about what we would find due to the town itself being a little run down. Once we arrived at the lodge, we were immediately impressed. It is such a charming place to stay and is tucked in to a remote location with beautiful scenery, great hiking trails and is very quiet and tranquil. We stayed in the Gila room which is on the bottom floor of the main house. The room was very nicely decorated with a huge bathroom and was incredibly clean. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the entire place had a very homey feeling. The food was excellent and there was always a variety of tea and cookies available throughout the day. We would definitely stay here again when we return to the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great staff, food, location. Perfect venue for relaxing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The lodge has an interesting history as it began as a school for rich boys with problems from the east coast. For a time it was a property owned by The Nature Conservancy. The lodge sits on 178 acres a few miles outside of Silver City, New Mexico. The lodge is .well maintained, the rooms are lovely and comfortable, the food is fabulous and the staff very personable It is a great destination in a relaxing environment.. .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful quaint, quiet Lodge! Service was incredible. I look forward to a return stay.
- Michelle (10/5): - Perfect in every way
