Guest Reviews
- Regan (1/5): I received a notice of the cancellation of my reservation after I arrived and without a refund of my credit card payment - Not applicable There was a notice on the office door that the hotel had been closed by the town for failing a safety inspection and the owner had already charged my credit card knowing that the facility was closed and undergoing renovations. The property was overgrown and in total disrepair.
- Andrei (10/5): - Nice option to stay near MASS MOCA.
- g00sina (10/5): So worth it! - I have stayed here previously, and after a long days drive, I walked into the lobby and was greeted by a warm and welcoming environment. The lobby looked NOTHING like it used to! You can easily see the new managers Heather and Hannah really care about this place. They were both super friendly and accommodating, I can’t say enough good things!! I was showed to my room, and let me be the first to say, the rooms were immaculate and smelled fresh. (They used to be not so great and smelled closed up). I saw the stamped toilet paper ladies, great attention to detail. And while I was too busy to stay for breakfast, their layout was very well thought through with a little something for everyone, it smelled heavenly! Whoever the owner is made a wise choice hiring these women, the hotel has made leaps and bounds since I was last there a few months ago. Keep up the good work!!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not stay here... - I stayed here during the Williams College Parents' weekend. Do not stay here. It's terrible:
- no showerhead
- no shower curtain
- cracked tiles in the bathroom
- soap residue on shower walls
- clogged bathroom sink
- broken blinds on the back window
- found another person's socks next to the bed
- bed felt like sleeping on a stack of cardboard
- The room smelled musty
The owner/manager seems nice, and they have an EV charger, and a decent selection of waffles and fruit at breakfast, but the terrible room - way overpriced - was awful, even for two nights.
- Janine (3/5): No worth the price. - The heating worked and the beds were comfortable. Bathroom was old, the doors were dirty (finger prints). The room was not very clean. The place was rundown and not worth the price.
- Alison (7/5): Good - Very friendly staff and great breakfast! Clean and comfortable beds The shower was really not pleasant. It took forever to access the television as the remote was out of batteries
- Ron (6/5): - The room was adequate if you're ready to pass out from exhaustion. Certainly NOT ROMANTIC. Old furnishings. WI-FI good once you figured it out. Got out of Dodge, didn't stay for breakfast.
- Liam (5/5): Very disappointed. - Bed was clean and comfortable. Common areas of the property were not clean.
Room was dark with low ceiling.
Breakfast was poor to average
Vastly overpriced for the quality
- Patricia (7/5): The location was great. It''s a good place to lay your head after a busy day in the Berkshires. - The location was perfect after a day at the Fresh Grass music festival. The room was dated but clean. The bed was comfortable. The quiche for breakfast was delicious. The coffee was very good. The staff was very nice and attentive. The shower was dirty. The room was a little dated. The price was inflated. The toilet seat was wobbly.
- johnna (10/5): - We arrived late, but Joe was there to greet us and get us settled. Room was decent, nice little stream running behind parking lot with fire pit and gazebo. Saw the pool but no time to go in. Breakfast was very good! Waffles and fresh strawberries and blueberries. Management was there taking care of dishes and wishing everyone a good morning. Highly recommend!
- Michael (4/5): - Very convenient location for our needs but facility was not well maintained.
- I5272JJjustine (10/5): Best experience and feel at home - Have come here few years now, love this place to be honest. Joe the manager is awesome and super helpful and friendly, the pool is great every year and nice with the heat too. Very close to a lot of wonderful restaurants and hiking areas as well as music and art venues. They even have a badminton court that's pretty nice too surrounded by the tree line it's a cool experience. Breakfast is great too waffles fresh fruit and coffee even cereal toast bagels yup got a good amount to feed even me haha! But seriously I come here a lot and it's my favorite place, try it some time!
- jameskB9082EM (10/5): Stay Berkshires is a top quality, peaceful Berkshires Inn/Motel that's only improved in recent years - Wonderful stay. The grounds are gorgeous as the property is directly on a lovely, active streams with a deep forest backdrop. Lots of places outside to sit, a heated pool, a basketball hoop, volleyball net (they have the balls, too!), and surrounded by nature on three sides-- it sits on Route 7 just outside Williamstown proper, easy access to all points Berkshires. Jiminy Peak and Williams College both within 10 minutes. Also comes with breakfast -- waffle maker, toast and bagels, fruit, cereal, coffee, milk, juice and a tasty homemade quiche with eggs spinach and mushrooms were on hand this stay. Joseph the manager is a great guy, if there is an issue (missing soap or something) he gets on it quickly, no issues. We have stayed here maybe 17 times over the last 20 years and since Joseph and recent management took over (3 years ago or so) we've only seen an uptick in maintenance and appearance of this lovely longstanding Berkshires institution. Ask for a room in the back if you wish to have a room directly on the stream (there is a gazebo, a swing and some chairs directly on the stream to eat, chat, meditate or read a book). The common areas (lobby, breakfast room) are comfortable, and you can use them all day, with nice chairs, etc.) Finally, there are the usual necessities -- wireless access, TVs with Roku, coffee makers in the rooms, etc. Just got around to writing a review because why not? We've had another pleasant stay this year, so happy to spread the word. We intend to return.
- 260he (10/5): Super cute and country cozy! - I stayed here because everyone else was booked up. Prices are reasonable for the amenities offered. I especially enjoyed the heated outdoor pool, after a long day of traveling around it was the perfect way to unwind. There is a volleyball court and bocce ball area. I also noticed a fire ring with chairs around it. The rooms themselves are kept clean, and beds were comfortable. The manager Joe is a super friendly and very helpful. All around great guy. The hotel offers a country home vibe, and you feel like you matter when you walk in. It not like those huge corporate hotels where you are just a key card. They also have free wifi which helped a ton! I will certainly go back and encourage others to give this place a try!
- K7952SClindak (2/5): Would not stay again, in spite of how nice the manager was. - The manager was a very nice person. The hotel, not so much! It is not kept up at all. The shower curtain needs to be replaced, there is brown mold on the edges of the plastic shower pan, bugs in the windows, and a ladder outside our window leading to the 3rd floor. The sink faucet was a dribble, and the shower was not much more than that!
- David (6/5): - It was a quaint place. But in need of serious upgrade. The pool area was nasty
- Katelove84 (10/5): Kindness matters and this place is a 5 star! - We are a local family who lost power for days due to a storm. They put us up in a moment’s time. The space a clean, quaint, and what a lovely pool with gazebos down by the river for a picturesque recovery from a black out in a heat wave. Joe served us a beautiful breakfast buffet even though we were the only guests at this time. It was such a recharge. Highly recommend. Their kindness and consideration meant the world.
- Michael (10/5): - Creek/river sound outside room
- Mark (9/5): Stayed for an evenening before visit to art museums. - Nice breakfast area.
- Vivian (10/5): Cute place - Very welcoming - easy to get to while attending a Tanglewood event!
- kimtQ8848SH (8/5): A cozy little unique gem - We needed a place to stay while attending the Solid Sound Music Festival at Mass Moca and found this place after all of the closer accommodations were booked solid! Although we did not spend that much time in the room itself, we found it to be very cozy, homey and quaint. Is it a 5 star hotel with all the modern amenities? No. But that's not the point of this property. It's a bit of a throw back in a way and that is what makes it so charming and unique. We found everyone on staff to be super friendly and helpful and it served our needs. We even had the good fortune to spot a bear which was very exciting for us. What I love most about this place is that there are not a lot of them around anymore. Privately owned little gems are becoming more and more rare. Hurry while you can!
PS. We forgot something in the room and the InnKeeper was kind enough to get it right out in the mail for us the next day which I thought was incredible.
- andrew (10/5): - It's a great little place to stay in the Berkshires that won't break the bank. The staff were super friendly and helpful and we felt comfortable during our stay. Breakfast was available every morning and you could have fresh coffee with the waffles cooked your way - literally cooked by you and super easy too. Just a great place, felt like staying with family.
- Decorte (1/5): Horrible ! - The room smelled like mold the room was full of black mold and I was ill all weekend. Rented the room for a festival and was sorely disappointed over charged for a dump!
- 500lillyr (10/5): All-around a good stay! - My second stay at this very quaint hotel. It is small and quiet, and nestled in the woods. We enjoyed the sitting around the fire pit and breakfast in the large lobby/dining area. It is a convenient location to the college, mountains, hiking trails, major roads, and area attractions.
- Martin (4/5): - Currently remodeling. Rooms are older and kinda past the freshness date.
- Dennis (7/5): Good -
- Daydream17432550923 (10/5): Beautiful, Boutique Inn - This is a pristine ,lovely, immaculate, beautifully appointed Inn,. I enjoyed the scenic grounds and the Breakfast Room. My room was extremely clean and comfortable. This is my new Berkshire's spot.
- Adventure07851410873 (10/5): Beyond expectation - Arrived in the middle of the night after a long drive for business. Ofcoursr I was starving and the vending machine snacks were going to cut it. The managers wife took pity on me and made what was probably one of the best omelets of my life.
Woke up that make morning to the sound of the creak and a squirl chattering away outside my window.
I ventured to the lobby for breakfast and now that there was light out I could actually appreciate the character of the place.
I spent a good 30 mins walking around the main lobby admiring the knick knacks, paintings, books...it was very homey and reminded me of what one would imagine as being the most perfect home of a grand parents. Rustic as described, comfortably homie, endless things to see when walking the property.
I can honestly say I have never been inclined to venture outside of any hotel room to explore the grounds like I did here. Instead of spending the day hunkered down in my room, I actually wanted to explore the property.
I highly recommend if this place if your ever passing through.
- myleahb2023 (10/5): Relaxing Hotel! - Best hotel, very cozy and welcoming!! the manager was very welcoming. The hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable. My boyfriend and I definitely enjoyed the hotel.
Definitely will be staying there again!
- 133patriciaf (2/5): Seedy Run-down Motel - This place could not have looked more different from the way it was described in these photos and reviews. We were shocked at the dilapidated condition of the exterior upon arriving. The paint on the building was peeling, the grounds were dirty and littered with broken stuff. It looked deserted. The pool, bocce ball court, fire pit and other features described looked as though they had fallen apart and been unused for a long time. The manager gave us a key to our room which we found to be unacceptable. My husband, who used to manage hotels, found the room to be unclean, unmaintained, dusty, dirty, and found melted water in the ice bucket. I was more disappointed that the room was not pretty or charming in any way. It was dark, and smelled musty. No sound of a rushing stream. We peeked in the windows to see if other rooms looked any better and they all looked the same. No lovely antiques in sight. We decided to leave and find somewhere else to stay, it was just too depressing. The manager said we would not be able to get our money back, which was not surprising. He repeated that the place is a rustic country inn. I just want to say that we have stayed at many rustic country inns, and we stayed at several on this particular trip, and this place is no country inn. It is a seedy run-down motel right on the highway. I wouldn't recommend that anyone stay there. I'm sorry we didn't take more pictures, we just wanted to get out of there and until I had time to look back at all the glowing reviews I couldn't understand how I had made such a bad mistake.
- Richard (4/5): -
Bath around bath tub/shower needs deep cleaning. Also hot water heater didn't work. I was impossible to take a shower
- Kay (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): - The staff went to great lengths to solve a problem that arose with my reservation. I would strongly recommend Stay Berkshire for a visit to the Williamstown area.
- peter (4/5): - The place is incredibly overpriced. It’s run down: the shower cabin floor is cracked, the floor in the room is sticky, there was a spider web in the door. We have not seen a member of the staff throughout the whole stay. The breakfast was mediocre, at best
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- davidgO6521SK (10/5): Best Motel in Williamstown Area - Great beds, cozy rooms, great staff super accommodating.
Pet friendly with beautiful land to walk dog on. Very chill and relaxing.
I come to Williamstown often and will make this my place to stay.
I’ve been to all the motels around and they were not nearly as nice.
- Q339XMsydneys (10/5): Great Motel in Willamsburg - Stay Berkshires was a a great find. The price is very reasonable yet the rooms were wonderfully homey with lovely antiques and really beautiful sleigh beds!
Breakfast was far better than most motels and the staff was so helpful, accommodating and nice.
The grounds behind it are beautiful with a rushing stream, gazebo, basketball court etc.
- Ruth (4/5): Cannot recommend Stay Berkshires - Shabby and not clean. Really run down.
- GusB80 (10/5): Very Nice - This road-side motel has all the modern conveniences. It's not a new place but it's got everything you need for a comfortable stay. Very good Wifi! Thank goodness because Verizon service is not great in the area A wonderful selection for breakfast. And Joe, the manager, couldn't have been more helpful. Sometime there's a Clark Museum special. Ask him if it's available when you go. .
- todd (10/5): - The outside of the hotel is a little outdated in some respects, but our room was and nice clean and the front desk area and breakfast room were very comfortable and inviting. Our check in was quick and efficient, and the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Plus there is a stream with a waterfall that runs right beside the hotel property, and the Berkshires area in general is very picturesque. We would definitely recommend staying at this hotel if you are in the area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The manager was available whenever we needed him- very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The room and dining area had everything we needed and if not, he would get it for us. Breakfast had good options- cereals, oatmeal, waffles, boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, etc. The pool was nice, too cold for swimming the weekend we were there. The room (2 beds) is small and a little dated, but had what we needed. Would stay again.
- PamelaP387 (6/5): unhelpful - We stayed here in July 2023 and it was mediocre. The hotel is dated. I think I left a dental appliance there that is worth over $500. I called several times and left voicemails, I sent emails through their web site, and still no one has replied to let me know if they found it.
- don_Chewbaca (10/5): Great value! - A wonderful value, a responsive manager, a very clean room, a great mattress and breakfast included big bowls of fresh blueberries and strawberries. Rooms are small-ish.
If you plan to visit Mass MOCA and the Clark Museum, you can reserve a limited number of free admission passes. Reserve them when you reserve your room. For a couple going to both museums, that is an $80 benefit!
Don't reserve a room through a booking site -- call the hotel directly and you will get a significant discount.
- Mark (10/5): - Found this little gem when everything else in the area was sold out and was very pleased. It saved my butt in the middle of the night and turned out to be a great place that was clean, well maintained with very friendly and helpful staff.
- Destrent (10/5): Satisfied customers - Cleanliness 110%
Price 110%
Customer service 110%
110% satisfaction absolutely 💯 will recommend to anyone and will absolutely return!!!
Love the breakfast which is free
Outside accommodations for all ages... can't wait to share my experiences with everyone else 💓
- Autumn (10/5): - Wonderful stay!!
- Kristine (10/5): - Great country property in a wooded setting. Away from it all, but drivable to most places. Lenox about 40 minutes away. Great staff, very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Really concerned that you’re happy. Felt like a family run motel rather than corporate. Not fancy, could definitely use some upgrades, but cute.
- jennakP746OD (10/5): Amazing scenic stay! - I had an amazing time staying here. The area is so scenic, you can hear the stream while walking around and leaves rustling. It’s a perfect getaway and great for kids with a pool and badminton area. The rooms have a cute rustic bed and breakfast vibe with matching rustic bathrooms, and a tv in the room. The couches in the common room are some of the most comfortable I’ve ever felt and there’s a large flatscreen tv with streaming services.Joe the manager was great too, very accommodating. Overall highly recommend!!
- I7424CSnorah (10/5): Amazing Experience! - My stay was absolutely incredible. The calming stream provided the perfect backdrop to make this inn so cozy and relaxing. My room was perfectly clean, and the common room was perfect for spending time with friends and winding down at the end of the day. Overall a fantastic experience!
- Aaron (7/5): Good -
- Jody (10/5): - The gentleman who checked me in was very cordial and welcoming even though I had checked in after 7 pm. He was very helpful, giving me brochures about the Clark Museum. Hopefully we can go tomorrow!
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Sara (8/5): Very good -
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Sandra (10/5): - Staff are very attentive.
- Rena (1/5): Terrible - This Inn was not ADA compliant and that was. It advertised- we had to go to a different hotel and pay twice. Very disappointing
- Beckie (7/5): Good -
- Gary (5/5): dont stay - not much old ,smelly noisy road small bath no parking
- Sue (7/5): Good -
- Roger (8/5): Very good -
- Tina (5/5): Passable -
- Donna (6/5): Basic, but OK for a short stay. - Property was a little run down, but clean. The small refrigerator didn't function well, but bed was comfortable and linens were good quality. Continental breakfast was fine - nothing unusual, but a good number of choices. Only saw the innkeeper once to check in. Otherwise, saw no staff or guests during our stay. We were a bit disappointed that the pool was closed for the season.
- Tinatin (2/5): - Room smelled and was filthy. Mouse feces on the floor, dirty sheets, uncleaned bathroom. Not at all as advertised.
- Joy (5/5): Passable - Staff and Breakfast, gas fire pit in back. One of the better continental breakfasts I had. Fresh fruit and enough selection of cereal, bagels, waffles, hard boiled eggs, etc. wish the had a low fat milk though. Bathroom sink had mold around ring could have been scrubbed out with toothbrush. Grout in shower had some mold and shower curtain was well used. Bloodstain on comforter covered by top sheet. Understanding that the motel was quaint, a little more attention to cleanliness would be appreciated.
- Kristen (7/5): Good - Great breakfast setup and area . Nice outdoor patio and back yard. Beds were very comfy. Friendly staff. Very expensive but typical for the area.
- Patrick (8/5): Very good - Joseph. The manager was awesome!! Very nice and accommodating. The price
- Mary (9/5): Superb - Very quaint and quiet No mattress cover
- Anne (8/5): - Beautiful location, reasonably priced, convenient parking, breakfast on site included in the price.
- Asher (9/5): Superb -
- Nina (10/5): Exceptional -
- barbara (8/5): - This was a last minute booking- so was nice that I got a room they were booked almost completely up.
the pool was very nice.
Breakfast was above what is now the standard as far as selection and breakfast area was very quaint.
the innkeeper was great and personable-
- Vilma (2/5): - Owner/manager greeted us briefly upon our arrival, indicated he needed to deal with a medical issue and left. He did take us to our room first. Room was musty, bathroom in poor condition and fridge had awful smell. Went to pool area which had chemical containers scattered around the pool itself was filthy and furniture was dirty as well. Pictures on website did not represent the deplorable conditions we saw. I received a call from home and had an emergency which forced us to leave. Even without emergency, we would have not stayed there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cute place, clean, friendly staff, reasonable price. Thanks!
- Miranda (8/5): - The hotel was clean and quiet, the owners were nice, and the complimentary breakfast was good. The bed was also very comfortable. The room itself was rather small and dark, but it was perfectly fine for one night, and we would stay there again.
- Daniel (8/5): - Pet friendly was nice. The room needs updating and a good cleaning. The bed was comfortable and the room temperature was good.
- Vincent (10/5): - Great stay, very clean
- Rachana (10/5): - The owners were *SO* friendly and considerate. And the location of the property is stunning: a brook and woods right there!
- Albert (10/5): - Lovely and quiet place. We enjoyed staying there for the night.
- Ann (10/5): - The site is great. Wish there was a phone and a clock in the room
- Aneliya (10/5): - Cozy and clean place. Nice backyard.
- Keith W (6/5): - The location for this property is ideal if you are looking for a place to stay along the Mohawk trail. The rooms were clean, but needed to be updated. The property was not well taken care of, lots of clutter/junk laying around, things in disrepair. The cost of the room was high for the quality of the rooms and the limited amenities.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Older motel with smaller bathroom. Noisy air conditioner and dehumidifier made sleeping difficult. Bed was comfortable, but bedding and decor could use an update. Three miles down the road from Williamstown, so nothing within walking distance.
- Judith (6/5): Berkshire vacation - The rooms and facility were clean. The host was very nice. However when we were leaving my husband pointed out the electrical on the back of the building it didn't look up to code. I think it needs to be addressed. I will not be staying here again. The bed was not comfortable either.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice quiet clean space close to Williamstown
- Verified traveler (8/5): Perfectly fine - We were first given the option of a room downstairs but it smelled a little mildewy and were allowed to move upstairs. While this meant a change in the types of bed we had, we didn't care. The room was otherwise clean, had a mini-fridge for us and was very close to Williamstown Theatre Festival which was important.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Whole property in bad shape. Management was sketchy. Tried to put me in a room that was extremely dark and creepy. Felt like property had been opened after closure for long long time but not refurbished or cleaned well. Potential there but not there at this point.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Friendly couple, but no daily room cleanings, no shampoo, no towel service, no staff, the grounds are not maintained at all, weeds, peeling paint, dirty pool.
Schitts Creek, no really!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice place too stay over the weekend or day trip, i enjoyed the area quiet i would recommend it
- Steve (10/5): - We had a great time there exploring ski areas nearby.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was very clean and bed comfortable. Whole Inn rather run down. They are working on repairs but COVID making it dufficult. Has alot of potential. Just some basic weed pulling and landscaping would help to give it a nicer look.
- Oliver (10/5): Simple, comfortable, cozy. - The room was simple and clean and cozy - it's a family-run motel with comfortable rooms. We were off the back, which was quiet and restful. The check-in was funny, but it all worked out. It was a good night's sleep, and that's the most important thing of all.
- Claire (8/5): - No frills but clean and comfortable. Friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We pulled into the place. It appeared unkempt and not at all what it was advertised to be. We didn’t even get out of the car and drove off to find another place to stay.
I will not use Expedia again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - like the country inn style- hospitality
did not like the TV service
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The inn keepers were so hospitable! They even prepared breakfast 1/2 hour earlier to accommodate us. (10 people)
I would add a bathroom rug or mat to cover the very cold floor.
We would stay here again!
- dan (4/5): - If you don't mind washing your hands in luke-warm water, or watching a TV with "No Signal" on the display, or having no choice but to use an unsecured WiFi, or waiting several hours for the room to warm up, this is the place for you!
The proprietors try their best to be helpful and they keep the premises clean. The location is beautiful. But really, fix the TV!
Can't understand the rating. Had to throw away a night and find another place. I recommend Cozy Corner.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This place is very dated and could use a fresh coat of paint.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is an older place but nice. It has old heating and air but was fine for our stay. It's a good location, and we were only here overnight. We were disappointed that the place did not include breakfast because the price of most of the hotels we stayed in on this road trip did offer the service with less price. We didn't have a chance to see what was around the hotel because it was raining, and we left the next morning but we were able to get a lovely dinner when we arrived and breakfast the next morning. They do offer cookies and coffee in the lobby but no coffee service in the rooms. They have robes and slippers though.
