- Sandra (5/5): I won't stay there again. - Great location for train/bus travelers because it is just across the street from a major transit hub. The Old Town Park was very nice, lots of things to do and see. The room itself was fine. The breakfast was pretty much non-existent; just chocolate chip scones, mini croissants, coffee and tea. The least they could have added was cereal! How about some fruit? There is NO cleaning while you have the room, NO ONE comes to make the bed, refresh towels, etc. Checking in is confusing because there is NO ONE at the hotel, you have to call the number on the sign outside to get checked in. This is something that you should know BEFORE you reserve a room. Also, be aware that the park is very close to the I5 freeway and therefore noisy late into the night.

Feels secluded even tho there's lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Felt like we were the only ones in the Hotel. No TV in Room. Hotel was closed but one phone call and staff arrived to get us all set up. Breakfast was self service and minimal but still very tasty,

- Joseph (5/5): - Historic rooms. The hotel is understaffed. When I arrived there at 3pm there was nobody there. I had to call a number and leave a voice mail. The hotel did not inform me of this strange practice ahead of time. After checking in, it feels awkward being the only person in this large historic building.
- Tabitha (10/5): Beautiful historic hotel - This hotel is so beautiful and well maintained for being a historical site! I absolutely loved the courtyard area with the sitting area and gorgeous plants. Everything was nice and clean. The hotel was quiet and peaceful. Just the vibe of the hotel alone was magical. Our bed was comfortable. The staff were great and check-in and out was very simple and fast. The parking situation was difficult when we arrived for check-in. The listing said it included free parking but we had to keep circling around the small parking lot to snag a spot. It seemed all the tourists have access to the same parking lot. I wish they had their own separate parking for guests only. Also, I didn't find any drinking water available in the hotel during the night.
- Byron (9/5): A hotel in the grand, old style in an unexpected place - I only stayed at the Cosmopolitan Hotel for one night, but I enjoyed my time there. It has a unique theme a decor. Moreover, though I arrived after normal check-in time, the staff arranged a creative work-around to assist me. Some of the furnishings did show obvious wear-- not enough to make them less useful, but enough to be noticeable.

- EVGENY (1/5): - Nothing I arrived at the hotel around 7:00 PM, and it was closed, even though check-in time was until 9:00 PM. I called the phone number on the door, but no one answered (voicemail). I spent about 20 minutes walking around and knocking on doors, but the only attention I got was from park security. It started raining, and I was forced to leave and look for another hotel. At 11:00 PM, the manager sent me self check-in instructions, but at that point they were no longer useful. The next morning at 9:00 AM, I came back again and spoke to a cleaner, who said the manager was not there and she could not help. The hotel refused to issue a refund via Booking.com, so I will have to dispute this as fraud. Thank you for this great experience upon arrival in San Diego.

There is free coffee and pastries in the morning and actually fresh and delicious. The tub is large and that was the best shower I have ever used. Everything about it this place is incredible. Wifi was not that good.
- Stephen (5/5): Antique room located in a dedicated Old Town Park. - Room was close to airport and harbour. Ample parking. And it did have an elevator to get to 2nd floor! Main road noise, plane noise, train noise. Choice of food - Mexican or nothing. Look, this was an 1880 style room with 1880 furnishings, SAVE hot & cold water, a modern shower and electricity. No fridge, TV, microwave, standard chair(s) and desk/table - the items you'd find in a modern motel. ONLY stay here if you are a history buff and want to actually "live" in 1880. Like I expected Granny & Jed from Beverly Hillbillies to appear any moment! Unfortunately I did not grasp this concept from the Booking Selection, and thought it was a 2.5 star motel on a street in an "Old Town" area.

We had a lovely room overlooking the old town square, with chairs on the veranda. There wasn't a reception and all doors were locked, one had to call the owner - but my phone didn't work. Once we got through everything was fine. The saloon downstairs wasn't open. Sniff.

- Hope (9/5): The cosmopolitan hotel has an authentic 1800’s vibe and is worth checking out. - It was unique. Loved the big copper bathtub. The bed was quite comfortable though could improve on the pillows. Great location in the heart of old town. The manager, Dee was wonderful. He even let us hang out past checkout to accommodate our noon train departure. The electrical outlets were inadequate. The only one in the bathroom didn’t work. There weren’t any in the second bedroom in our suite. There were two functional outlets in our bedroom but no mirrors making it challenging to dry and style hair.

My room was decorated in a way that made me feel like I was back in the 1800's. Charming. The room had a weird smell that I didn't care for. Bed had a plastic cover or something that made it very hot to sleep on and kind of uncomfortable. Period furniture pieces were stained and unattractive. While the room was charming, I would not stay again because of the 2 things I mentioned.

Dee is a fantastic host, got me checked in a little earlier than usual because I had flown in and needed to drop my luggage off to explore Old Town. The free coffee and pastries was an unexpected perk. I slept really really well in my room which was number six. I loved my stay so much that I am returning later this year for my birthday. There was nothing at all that I didn't like. Excellent property to stay at when visiting Old Town.
- William (4/5): Great hotel - absent staff. - Room was nice, bed was comfy. Lots of character. Staff had contacted me in advance to ask what time I would arrive - I told them. On the day of arrival they called me, we talked and confirmed my arrival time (via train). They asked me to call when my train arrived or if my plans changed. My plans did not change. I called when my train arrived (on time) - straight to voicemail. The hotel was closed when I arrived, called again - straight to voicemail. I was very lucky we found a gentleman was leading a ghost tour there (not an employee). He let us in, left his tour group, got us to our room and returned to his tour. By his actions it was VERY obvious he had taken care of their guests before. There was no hotel staff on premises. I have not heard from the hotel to explain what happened or to apologize. This hotel is sitting on a goldmine, I reckon, with their adjacency to a major transit center plus free shuttles (every 20 minutes) to the airport so I do not understand this behavior. Very, very frustrating.

- Mitchell (10/5): It was a great place to stay and we will definitely come back. Dee was the best!! - The hotel is in an ideal spot Close to the shops, restaurants, and the trolley stop. The hotel was a step back into time. No television, radio or clocks in the room. It was a very relaxing place after a day of a sightseeing. The scones and croissants were delicious. It would have been nice if the bar would have been open for Happy Hour during the week.

- Tim (5/5): Not going back. - Location good for my trip needs. A plus would be its quaintness...but I do not need quaint. I did not know there was no TV. Location was central, but noisy, No hangers for clothes, only hooks. Bed too soft (but that is personal). Woman serving coffee in the morning was nice, but WAS NOT GOING TO SERVE ME UNTIL 8a.m. All I hoped for was a cup of coffee, but she does not understand the "guest" thing, only her job thing.

- DAVID (9/5): Fun to be in a historic place and see all the attractions in the area. - Dee was an excellent host and it was a fun experience! The sink hot water had low pressure but the showers worked great. No other issue and wasn't even a big deal.

- Diana (10/5): Warm & cozy historic hotel - I liked that it is a historic hotel in a historic location. The rooms were decorated according to the time period & warm and cozy with a balcony with tablle & chairs. Dee was very friendly and helpful. There were scones & coffee for breakfast. There were also main rooms downstairs with interesting displays & signs about the history of the hotel. I love having stayed at a motel where people who rode in stageccoaches stayed, and that there were both Californio (Mmexican) & American owners.

- JOHN (8/5): Fantastic hotel - apart from the poor experience of arriving at the hotel and finding it locked. - Lovely historic hotel with a warm room and big comfortable bed. I loved it. You are staying in an original building so be prepared to go back in time as far as decor, furniture and especially bathroom are concered. But that's part of the fun! Modest breakfast of coffee and pastries taken in an original dining area. The location was excellent, right amongst the historic buildings in the area. Bars and dining opportunities nearly and a nice little hiking trail nearby for some early morning exercise. A short walk to the light rail station which takes you to 'downtown' within minutes. Upon arrival, in the dark, tired after a seven hour bus ride, I found the hotel was completely locked up and though some lights were on there was no other signs of life. Obviously this was cause for concern. Another couple arrived and found a sign saying 'ring this number' - which went straight to answering machine. Not a good sign and I began thinking we had been scammed. Eventually the number was answered by a gentleman who was managing a nearby restaurant. He arrived soon after, unlocked the side gate and we were allowed in. Not exactly the 'warm welcome' you would hope for.

El sistema de evacuación del sanitario fue algo que siempre quise hacer. La ubicación es perfecta para desplazarse por todo San Diego, si no quieres desplazarte mucho, estar en el centro histórico de old town es suficiente para disfrutar.

Period furniture, rustic building and serenity to forget demands of the present. Managers were happy to take the time and walk me through the building explaining the constructuon and history of the place. Highly recommended
- Q9510FXpeterm (8/5): Nice but keep your expectations in perspective. - Quaint Hotel in a great location in Old Town. Very walkable to shops and restaurants. Rooms were comfortable especially the beds. Remember this is not a modern hotel so floors may squeak. Door knobs may not always turn the first try and windows may be nailed shut.I Would have given 5 stars except for the breakfast. Coffee and croissant & scones were OK but no attendant to clean up or ask for missing sugar. Court yard needs some attention. All that said we'd stay here again. Also the binder on the history of the area has some historical inaccuracies related to the Atecs. WOKE ideology has no place in history and depicting the Aztecs as victims of Spanish explorers is misleading at best and deceptive at worst.

- Roya (4/5): Run down hotel - They have let that hotel gone down. I stayed in there 6 years ago and the bed was very nosy when I turned. I decided to stay again and figured the bed is fixed by now, surprisingly the noise was there and much worse. Breakfast was at 8 which is very late for passengers. I he said she comes at 7 and BF is at 8. So we left at 7 without BF.

- stephen_tardy (10/5): An Old Town Haunting Great Time in San Diego - Over the July 4th weekend, we stayed at the Cosmopolitan in Old Town. We loved it!!! Very comfortable, great AC, Wi-Fi, and no TV, just like the Old Days. We enjoyed lounging in the Coutyard, listening to music, and drinking margaritas. The bartender was great!!! Dee, the hotel manager, is seen mingling among the guests, making sure that all your requests and expectations are met. Michael, who owns a local ghost investigation tour on the hotel property, that was productive in proof of the after life and very help full w/ equipment direction and use. The Trolley Station is just off the Old Town property and give us easy access to all of San Diego including Little Italy. Amazing Merchant Outdoor Market on Saturday and tasty foods. We are coming back in August for our anniversary and birthday. And yes, we have a room at the Cosmopolitan again. Also the hotel has connections w/ several Mexican restaurants in Old Town. - leahm644 (10/5): Amazing Hotel & Amazing People - We had an amazing time at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. We missed the complimentary morning coffee & pasties downstairs (we are night owls, so we rise around 11 AM) but the manager "D" offered and arranged to have coffee and pastries sent to our room. He checked on us several times to make sure we had plenty of coffee! We stayed in Room# 7 "The Cauldron Suite" and loved it! I absolutely loved taking a bath in the huge copper bathtub! Very relaxing. My son took the smaller room and my partner and I took the larger room, and we had privacy since the second room had a closing door. We did not experience anything paranormal, unfortunately, but we never do. We also loved that they had chairs and tables for outside sitting next to your room. We sat out there at night and watched the bunnies run in the field below. So cute. The location to old town was perfect too. You must eat at their Mexican restaurant across the parking lot too (I forget the name). The food was delish... We will definitely stay here again next year, since we like to visit San Diego once a year from L.A. This has been one of our favorite trips to San Diego ever, and the Cosmopolitan Hotel played a big role in that. Yes, the hotel is older, but this was its charm and why we loved the experience. Thank you "D" for a wonderful experience and thank you staff at the Cosmo Hotel! See you next time =-)

- U7591APlinam (10/5): Wonderful historical experience - We loved the Cosmopolitan Hotel and received such excellent service from the hotel manager. If you appreciate historical locations that are maintained in a way that respects time-period accuracy, you will love staying here in the heart of historic Old Town. Each room has beautiful, authentic antique furniture, hardwood floors, comfortable beds, great views and a beautiful courtyard. The hotel is located at the center of the original town square so you can walk anywhere and leave your car parked the entire time.

Dee, the Hotel manager, is very professional, very personable. and knowledge about his hotel history and the amenities offered surrounding the hotel. The food/beverage area, the bartender exhibited amazing customer service. The tacos were very delicious, and the flavorings of the beverages was superb. Mchael, the Ghost Investigating staff member, provided a thorough understanding of the history of spiritual observation, the use of the equipment, and the hands-on direction that allowed my wife and myself to enjoy and obtain an outstanding, fulfilling, and non-scary ghost hunt. Yes, we did document the presence of multiple spirits in the hotel dining room. Terrific experience!!! Not a darn thing. We are coming back very soon!!!

The staff is incredable to work with and are happy to make your stay unfargettable. Happy Hour was awsome and area is worth seeing over and again, this was our fifth time staying at the hotel and enjoying the surroundings!
- Lingjia (1/5): Pimp charged guests for not wanting his girls... - Nothing The ad pictures of this hotel are all photoshopped to pageant level. When we arrived, it took quite a while to recognize this ghostly saloon-turned hotel. It was literally A Saloon. There was no front desk nor anyone there to greet the guest. Guests must call the manager first and wait till he appears from a side door. There's no TV and phone line in the property. The rooms were dark and damp, an old time dim lamp on the nightstand. No magnetic keys to the room and all rooms can be open from the outside. We walked away immediately after seeing the room but the hotel still charged us in full of the booking, refused us any refund at all even though we didn't even check-in. The Sleaziest experience I've ever had. I noticed a board that said the nightly activity special at the property was Ghost Hunting. No joke.
- April (1/5): Horrible closed hotel they charge you for and not an employee ever - Nothing This was a funding hotel & restaurant but now the restaurant is closed and the hotel needs to be I arrived to a dark locked building and it wasn’t even 7pm & most of old town was shut leaving me alone with zero way to get help I had emailed I was coming from uk & my arrival time yet once a man finally arrived from another restaurant who knows he met me in and said Uk people often gave this problem ?! So why wasn’t he or anyone there upon my arrival? They say no phones or tv as it’s to be historically correct ( well there was no electricity back then either lol) I though fine but literally he left the premises and there was no one there maybe a few other guest but literally you will be in a hotel that’s kicked from anyone getting in meaning you too upon arrival If I had an emergency my Uk phone wasn’t working and they had no way to contact for help They say historic but honestly the rooms were so un maintained even by housekeeping which I saw none I have no idea how they dared charge 150 a night for hotel likeky should be out of business I’m dead serious you can’t get in at least not at night and I’m talking only 7 pm

The breakfasts were a bit spartan, but we did not miss the TV. We would gladly go again and to the same room. The proximity to the fantastic Reyes restaurant is certainly a big plus.

It was a nice surprise to see there was no TV, Phone or clock in the room. This was good because we were able to enjoy each other without the distraction of a TV. Second story rooms offer a beautiful view of the sunset!
