Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Experience on King Street - I had a great experience with the Check-in Charleston team and their 2 bedroom unit in Quarters on King. They, particularly Emily, couldn’t have been more prompt, helpful or friendly. The unit itself (202) exceeded my expectations. It has a large open family room/kitchenette space with 10’ or so ceilings throughout and large bedrooms with comfortable beds plus tons of closets and storage space if needed. It was clean and clearly well-cared for. The hardwood floors glistened. Though we didn’t have time to use it, there was a bonus large deck with a grill. The location was perfect. Kind of in the middle of King Street so most everything was accessible. All in all a definite 5 star experience.
- Casey (10/5): - We had a great stay at the Quarters on King. They were able to check us in early, which was really helpful. The apartment was also beautiful and comfortable.
That said, King Street is incredibly noisy during the weekend, so bring earplugs!
- Jason (4/5): Do not stay here - When checking in trying to find parking was bad. There is a lot of construction going on near the building area. Stayed in the room over Super Bowl weekend. Had to download an an app to stream the game because local channel cable was nonexistent! The door knob to get into the building hallway was very loose! Not to mention the room knob! A light was hanging by only wires in one of the rooms. The toilet dispenser in the other room was about to come off. A tile came out in the floor of one shower. No place to put shampoo or soap l except on the shower floor! Took them two days to come out and repair the room knob and light! We went out for the day and came back and there was a can of Red Bull with a straw on the counter!!! None of us drank it! The closest parking they say is up the street is almost a mile away. The closest one to the room is a lot a day and must move your car by 7 am! Some could say I’m high maintenance with this, but when you pay that rate for four nights stay this all is unacceptable!!!!
- Michelle (10/5): - It was great!
- Kemal (10/5): - Everything was great. I highly recommend it.
- Belinda (10/5): Great place right on King street - What an amazing place! HUGE living area and kitchen, big bedrooms, nice bathrooms. Great location on King street, right in the heart of everything. Only negatives were no parking on site (no big deal), and I'd put King beds in the bedrooms instead of queens. Also if someone was staying longer, they might want more amenities in the kitchen (more kitchen supplies). But finding Keurig pods already here - awesome! Would definitely rent again!
- Sachiko (10/5): - This property is located very convenient to do anything in Charleston, and very clean with nice bedrooms, showers and full kitchen. I would totally comeback and stay here
- Diane (6/5): - Unfortunately I was unimpressed by the communication. The listing stated parking for $18 per day, I asked for parking immediately upon booking, at least twice. The week before my arrival, I asked again and was told none was available. That I could go to a public parking for $38 per day. I asked for them to make up the difference and they agreed. I have been emailing for a week, sent receipts and no answer. This was disappointing. Other than that everything was good. I think it may be noisy with other guests and traffic. But that wasn’t a big issue for me. The lack of communication is a HUGE disappointment for me.
- ROBERT (10/5): - The condo was spacious and very clean. Right on King St in middle of old town. View of the street below.
We really enjoyed our stay here! Highly recommend it for a visit to Charleston SC.
- Judy (10/5): - You could not get a better location for walkability and everything you needed. Because you are downtown you do have the city traffic noise but that is to be expected for trade off of the location.
- richard (10/5): - Only downside is the traffic noise at night
- Diane Evangeline (10/5): - The place was great. Had enough space for our family of four.
- James Kyle (10/5): - I would recommend the property to any visitors to Charleston! Great location and it was really comfortable!
- Catherine (6/5): - Lodging was comfortable however, there is construction happening next door which woke us up each morning we stayed there. Also, there is a patio where 2nd floor guests can sit, and their noise traveled up to the 3rd floor as well.
- John (10/5): - Very upscale, large space. Great for entertaining and feeling like you're at home. The stairs up to the unit can be a bit daunting if you have any knee or mobility issues, but otherwise I'd happily stay there again.
- EILEEN (10/5): - loft floor plan was great. Didnt use but amazing granite kitchen
- Diane (2/5): - When we booked this hotel
They said it was a walk up. It was 3 flights with luggage. There was no assistance no parking, very difficult to find to gain entrance. Crazy construction everywhere. Called several times because there is no available staff on property. If you ever consider staying here look somewhere else. Never again.
- alexandra (8/5): - Great location, though be aware how loud king st is at pretty much all hours, but especially at night. The place was cool, but definitely a bit run down. Stains on the rug, lots of marks on the floors and rugs, the shower curtain was not super clean and yeah it’s nice to have a kitchen but it would’ve been hard to cook much of anything in it, it was very basic. The toilet paper was the cheapest stuff you can imagine, which seemed odd given how much the cost per night of this place is. The ac worked well and the bed was comfortable. The place also smelled VERY strongly of lemon cleaning chemicals upon arrival. Took a few hours to get rid of the smell, I’d recommend the company switch to something less stringent.
- Larry (6/5): - Ceiling was peeling and looked a little unappealing. The room had a unpleasant smell, could use some air freshener. This is a fantastic location. Parking is not ideal. The stairs are steep and narrow. I would stay here again to see how other rooms compare. I know they were doing some renovations on other units so hopefully this one will be soon.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Beautiful and spacious property. Well maintained and clean. Highly recommended!
- Edith (8/5): Convenient location - Spacious apartment just a short walk to the market area. I would recommend and will most likely stay there again.
- Pamela (8/5): - Very modern and spacious apartment. Kitchen was really nice, bedrooms and baths clean and comfortable. Close proximity to all of downtown Charleston. I would stay again.
- Jodie (10/5): - The room was really nice and bigger than a normal hotel room. The location was great - easy access to shopping, eating and the College of Charleston.
- Cristen (10/5): - Great experience!
- Nancy (10/5): Great location! - Great location! Very convenient to shops on King and close to many other cool places to go. A few minor fixes in the apartment need to be done, but overall is a great spot and would stay there again.
- Johnny (8/5): - Two bedrooms and two baths- big PRO!
Two flights of stairs and parking two blocks away-CON
GREAT location, wonderful property
- Manuel (10/5): - The property is on one of the main streets, so the noise can be annoying for those seeking tranquility. but he sleeps peacefully.
- Mark (8/5): - The property was clean, great location in downtown, spacious, & beautiful! The staff was easily available at all times!
Only negative is the parking location (2-3 blocks)!
Great place to stay!!
- Kristin (10/5): Wonderful time! - We had a fantastic trip! The Quarters on King made it really easy to get settled, enjoy the city and have everything we needed for comforts of home and service of a hotel!
- Konstantinos (10/5): Location, location, location - Lovely place, very comfortable! Great location in the heart of Charleston. The staff was extremely helpful before, during, and after our stay. I recommend staying here if you’re coming to Charleston.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great space, prime location for walking down King and other attractions. Very noisy at night!!! The apt we were in is the top floor so we could hear the AC units turning on and off all night. Also dumpsters and construction crews early in the morning!
- Ryan (8/5): - Property was great except the walls and ceiling are very thin. Can hear people walking and talking in units around you. Your stay most likely will depend on who is staying around you. Also, they have discounted parking but it is a bit away. There is a closer parking lot right next door but it is double the price.
- dietrich (10/5): - amazing location and space!
- LAURA D. (8/5): Great location….. lots of stairs - Location was great. Right on King Street. Easy walk to restaurants. Check in was seamless and easy. Staff was so friendly and kind. We stayed in Suite 302. Everything was in good condition for the most part. The only downfall was that there was two large flights of stairs to get to our Suite. No elevator. This wasn’t a big deal for us but might be for someone else. Our suite was also two stories so it was a lot of stairs. Parking is available but it is about 3 blocks away. Once again, not a big deal to us. Would definitely stay here again.
- david (10/5): - great place to stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean Comfortable Cooked a nice meal there - Nice place. Frictionless experience. Clean, comfortable, We cooked a really nice meal in the kitchen. Was worried from other reviews, but didn't experience any problems. Great location. There was a New Orleans style parade right out front.
- Kristen (10/5): - This stay really felt like a home away from home. The loft suite was beautiful, with the most amazing location! The door and lock were a little funny at times, but just took a few extra tries to get it right. Other than that, I cannot wait to return!
- JENNIFER (10/5): - Such a unique experience!
- Tracy (8/5): - Great location and space for friends traveling together. Full length mirror and better linens would elevate rating from 8 to 10.
- Patrick (10/5): - Well decorated. Great to come back and chill after busy days. Front desk was happy to accommodate special requests and had a bottle of wine ready for me on my arrival.
- Jon (6/5): - The units need a good deep cleaning. Furniture and rugs are clearly stained and dirty. The beds are miserable and worn out. This property requires some hiking of stairs so careful when you shop and keep in mind you have to haul it up and down stairs. Parking is a bit away as if you don’t walk enough in Charleston. Was worried about vehicles and property within them the entire time. Staff nice and willing to help in anyway. Unfortunately this location just didn’t work well for us, we would not stay here again nor recommend to anyone wanting vacation in Charleston , staying here was more work with no sleep. Price per stay is premium so spend it somewhere else that has more amenities and comfort.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location was very convenient to walking and shopping. However, it was quite noisy due to trash pick ups early morning each morning. Also, parking is a couple of blocks away which was fine in nice weather.
- Dave M. (10/5): New Years Eve Getaway - Really enjoyed our visit to Charleston and our stay here. Perfect location for a downtown stay
- Catherine (8/5): - Great location walking distance to market st and the battery. Unit was a little rundown - the tile in the bathroom was cracked and pieces were missing. The dishwasher.didnt work. The walls needed painting/touch up. But it was clean. No elevator. And can be loud at night
- David (8/5): Lacks parking - clean and comfortable room - Parking is expensive and a decent walk from
The hotel. Room was clean and very large. Lacks windows. Room was clean and has a full kitchen.
- Don W. (10/5): Every thing was great, would stay here again. - Center of Charleston and all of the amazing restaurants, museums, markets and culture centers. Loved it!
- Sharon (10/5): Beyond accommodating! - I was looking for a place to stay while showing my mom around Charleston for her first time. This spot was perfect! First, the communication for check in was amazing! When we arrived to our unit, there were more stairs than anticipated (they did warn of stairs and no elevator prior to arrival). After talking with Amelia, she contacted the property manager and they moved us to an upgraded unit with an elevator which was more suitable for my 72 year old mom. I greatly appreciated that!! Both units were very well appointed and extremely clean. The unit we ended up staying in was absolutely perfect! The location is superb. Right in the heart of King Street shopping and within walking distance to all sight seeing attractions, restaurants, etc. I will definitely book here again for future trips!
- Kayli S. (10/5): Wedding weekend - My family and I stayed over the weekend while in Charleston for a wedding. The accommodations were spacious for having a family. Unfortunately there is no elevator so strollers are difficult to get up 3 flights of stairs, and the hallway is very narrow. We had a great time, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Great location.
- Yeeming (6/5): - The quarter itself is very good, but has very poor sound proofs. You can here any noises from the street, traffic and even pedestrians talking. Garbage truck and delivery trucks woke us up 5:00 in the morning. Parking is one and a half block away, very inconvenient.
- Anne (10/5): Really nice place! - The location is great--very easy walk to so many attractions and restaurants. Comfortable bed, large kitchen (I don't know if it was supplied well or not, because I didn't need to use it). There was some street noise at night, but not enough to bother me or my sleep.
- Louis Buttino (8/5): Nice Unit, Good Location With a Few Drawbacks - The unit we stayed in was comfortable and satisfactory for the most part. It was clean and in a great location with easy access to lots of restaurants and points of interest in Charleston. A couple of minor negatives.
The unit was up a steep flight of stairs with no elevator. The unit contained a full kitchen but wasn't completely stocked with utensils,
kitchen towels or simple condiments, etc. Although a small supply of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel was provided, there was no bar soap of any kind. Cleaning supplies were minimal. Because of it's location on King St. the unit was a bit noisy.
- Carolyn (10/5): The Quarters on King fit for a queen👑 - We loved the quarters on king! Perfect location. Apartment was gorgeous. Beds super comfortable. Staff extremely helpful and connected. Would definitely stay again!
The only negative was the cleaning. Overall the apartment was clean. But the floor molding hadn’t been cleaned in who knows when. Need to change the shower curtain more frequently and make sure kitchen cabinets are spot cleaned after each renter. Would have loved a broom to clean up our own sandy mess from the beach. Felt bad about that.
Overall we absolutely loved our 4 day 3 night stay. They even let us check in early! Loved the office staff.
- Christine (8/5): - I liked the room, shutters and room darkening drapes to allow a good night’s sleep. It was hot in the room. The a/c was set at 72 and unable to be set lower 😩
After speaking with the management, they allowed my a/c to be set at 68 and provided me with a fan
- Lindsey (2/5): - While this seemed like it would be great because of the location, and seemingly nice decor, it was gross. There were roaches in the kitchen, and the pull out couch was full of crumbs and hair.
Do not recommend!
- Justin Daniel (10/5): - The property is right on King Street and was amazing. We loved being right in the middle of everything!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was very nice and updated. The staff was very helpful. However, there is no elevator and the stairs are 3 flights straight up and are steep. I fell a few times and so did my kids. There is also a lot of noise from the streets.
- David (10/5): Great Condo in the heart of Charleston - Great hotel…it actually has more of a condo feel! It was lovely and the location could not have been any better. Would definitely stay here again!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Never stay here - Not happy, had to go to another hotel, it was a refurbished apartment, the floors were paper thin heard the kids over us stomping and screaming, air conditioning wasn't working well, life's too short. Got another hotel, I'm fighting the charge to my credit card
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location was fantastic! It was like a home away from home.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Awesome space - Pros: Gorgeous space with living room for business meetings and full kitchen. Prime location. Paid parking lot is 2 blocks away. Nice decor. Enclosed terrace off of upstairs bedrooms. Secured exterior door.
Cons: Wifi didn't work. Central AC was not working - the 2 window units cooled the unit fine but were extremely loud. No elevator.
- Ronald (10/5): Hidden gem - This place is a hidden gem. Perfectly located on King Street with a private parking lot just two blocks away. The place is beautiful, modern and quiet. Very modern kitchen and bathrooms were a nice surprise.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bed Bugs - Got bed bugs from the visit. Won’t visit again. Don’t stay here. This place was dirty and hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly.
- Lauren (10/5): - Perfect for our girls getaway. Toilets didn’t flush great but service was incredible. Lots of stairs
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice kitchen and living area and a central location. But the property wasn't especially clean, and the street-facing front door didn't lock for much of our stay. Loud neighbors lent more of a boarding house feel than a private suite.
- Pallavi P. (8/5): Nice Location, perfect to walk anywhere you want to! - We thought the property location was perfect for all the activities we wanted to do around Charleston for a long weekend trip!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place, upscale and modern - We had a great time at this condo! It is clean, upscale and modern. Had all the amenities. Definitely a trek up the stairs with luggage but that’s nothing compared to the location and class this place has. The property management location was a bit confusing but we figured it out as were able to pick up our parking passes without issues. Overall great stay!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Well decorated. 3rd floor walk-up with parking a couple blocks away. Right on King St so very convenient, but with that comes late night noise and the building is not very insulated from a noise perspective. Had to kill a couple roaches and pick up fingernail trimmings from previous guest. Front office staff not very attentive to noise complaint that was more of a fixture issue than residents next door.
- Allen (8/5): Some Good, Some Bad, Some Ugly - THE GOOD: The location, the beds, the spacious apartment, the bathroom and kitchen decor, the helpful front desk
THE BAD: Couldn't get into room after overnight flight and three hour drive, so that was a bit frustrating--got help from front desk, but they were stumped as well, but were helpful and did get in after not too much time. Wi-fi didn't work. Again, front desk did a good job helping, but still a bit frustrating. NO laundry. First apartment I've ever stayed in (all over the world) with no laundry. Be prepared for noise. That's the tradeoff for a great location.
THE UGLY: The "Two Bedroom suite with Private Dining Area" is listed as having "two full bathrooms." That is a lie, and is STILL on their website even after I notified them. It's a full bath plus half bath. I can't believe I'm the first to notify them of this, and, even if true, five days after the notification, it's still up. You don't get to keep deception up for even one day after you're notified of it, but it's still there. The place is dirty--water bottle under dining cabinet (evidence of improper cleaning), hair in hall bathroom sink and main bathroom tub (evidence of improper cleaning), filthy top of refrigerator (evidence of improper cleaning), main bedroom closet shelving not clean as evidence by sticky receipt and used Q-tip in one cubby. Other reviews state the same, but they've not yet figured out this.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location is excellent!!! Walking distance to pretty much everything we wanted to see/do. The room (2 bedroom suite) was very spacious. Parking is "offsite", but they do have a place where you can park to unload your luggage. It's only a block away from parking and it's a nice little walk.
A few negatives- It was it was loud at night- garbage being picked up, deliveries... I'd stay again, but bring something to drown out the noise from the street. We went during Covid, so they had limited housekeeping. They didn't give us enough towels for our family and getting those took longer than it should have.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a hidden gem. In the heart of the city. Close to everything.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Too many steep dangerous steps and no elevator. Also, way too much noise from the street below late at night and from the guests below who talked non stop well into the early morning. Suspect individuals were doing drugs. Poor over all experience.
- Michelle (6/5): NO ELEVATOR!!! - We were on the third floor and there is no elevator!! The stairs were very steep and uneven. The room was spacious but somewhat run down. Beds were comfy.
- Robert (10/5): - Great stay. Will come again
- David S. (8/5): Charleston Engagement Weekend - Great Rental and location. The parking was not convenient, and there were no elevators to get to the third floor units. My fitbit was happy, but the 100 lbs of luggage and groceries were a bit of an issue. Also the refrigerator and freezer in the unit did not work at all and our perishable food had to be disposed of.
- Debbie (6/5): - Location was good but loud loud music across the street the whole trip. Day and night the walls shuck in one bedroom. Unit was in need of paint and new furniture.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Will never recommend. They straight up take advantage of the location. Being right on King St. is great but not worth it at all. I would have rather walked a mile and stayed somewhere else. Management clearly doesn't care about these rentals. They're more concerned with the real estate side of their business which is fine but they should just get let someone own the rentals that care. The people in the office seemed annoyed and bothered by our very basic questions/needs.
The overall state of the loft was subpar. 2 light bulbs burnt out in the bathroom, toilet seat not cleaned (WE cleaned it), bedroom floor not vacuumed, extra towels just tossed on bed, obvious the shower was not cleaned as the last guests soaps were still in there with the caps off.
One of the most surprising and ridiculous parts was that they conveniently failed to mention that you're not allowed to turn the air down under 72! 3rd floor loft, in the middle of summer in SOUTH CAROLINA and you don't allow your guests to control their AC? There is a note saying the AC will freeze and stop working. Well, for what you are paying to stay there, I think they could probably afford to get that fixed.
- Savannah W. (2/5): Horrible experience - The only plus to this property is the location. The shower was stopped up and would not drain. The lights were out all down the hallway and in the bedroom. The outlet in the bathroom did not work. We were told it would have a washer and dryer and it did not. It was an ordeal to have towels delivered to our room after calling multiple times. We were unaware that parking would not be at the rental property. The walls are thin and noise is easily heard from other renters. We laid awake until 3 AM due to one renter above us and did not have any one to call to complain about the noise. We will not rent here again. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing rental, this is not it.
