Jonathan (8/5): - Very affordable, convenient place to stay for a short while. Barebones, but that's all I needed.
Jax (7/5): - A very relaxed atmosphere. In walking distance to a great supermarket and other neighborhood eats. I appreciated the No Shoes-indoors policy. (D.C. sidewalks can be like NY sidewalks: minefields!) There was limited space for guests to lounge and socialize without feeling like you're crowding someone. (Must remember to bring earbuds/headphones.) Would prefer a lounge where movies could be watched with a group. Seemed like the front desk staff had control of the one TV. A beautiful patio, BUT, access was limited during the week(longer hours?) Need a few more accessible outlets. The larger dorm room was right off the excess luggage room. It could be noisy at times, when trying to sleep.

Le petit déjeuner inclus est aussi un vrai + Pas de rideaux autour des lits (très génant pour avoir accès à un minimum d'intimité), certains toilettes ne fermaient pas et il n'y a pas assez de douches au vue du nombre de lits...

Gail (6/5): - Close to excellent restaurants and to the CGS office where I needed to go. It's in a nice quiet and safe neighborhood. Noisy some nights because the sound travels. Sleeping quarters are very tight. Mulberries stained my clothes when I sat in the back outside patio. Worst, the mulberries attract lots of rats, which I saw whenever I looked out.

Os quartos poderiam ter estrutura um pouco melhor de lockers. Eles existem mas sao modelos de gaveta para arquivos, nao cabem mala. Os banheiros para banho sao espaçosos. Mas nem todos os chuveiros estavam bons. Alguns esquentavam demais, outros a vazao era muito fraca. Eu precisei trocar de um pro outro no meio do banho.

Rumbidzai (1/5): It was a very disturbing experience - The staff were nice people and the location is convenient. Quite close to the bus stations and metro if you are not driving. While the staff are really nice people. The facility is very uncomfortable and a bit inconsiderate. They are just focused on getting money and dont care at all about the customer experience. They have mixed dorm rooms where women and men are bunched up together and a maximum of 12 people in one room. I was very unlucky, I am a woman and the dorm room l was had 3 people one of whom was a man who was making calls at 3am talking about some really scary stuff. It was really creepy and scary. The bathrooms are the same, men and women share the same restrooms. And it’s a no shoes domitory, you have to walk around on your feet from the reception.

jetdude787 (2/5): The place was ok, the other employees were nice. The morning guy puts a dent on that Duo Housing hostel. - The first impression is very important. I tried to check in on the 6 May for two nights and encountered a rude, unprofessional and unpleasant dark individual behind the desk who ignored my greeting and questions to tell me check-in is at 3 PM. It was around 2 PM and I pointed out, but the individual ignored me again. 3 PM, he barked. I tried to leave my bags but he said there was a $5.00/bag charge. I requested my ID and went back to leave my bags free of charge to my previous night hotel, Zena. Later on met the other front desk men and they were very very nice! The dayshift guy, of dark complexion and beard is not.

Milena (9/5): Good location and a friendly stay - Duo Hosting was a great experience! The location is excellent, very close to the bus and train station, and also very near a local supermarket. The breakfast was nice and a good opportunity to socialize with people at the hostel, although it was always the same food. The whole hostel was very clean and organized, and the staffs were very nice too. Overall, I had a good stay, but there are a few small things that could be improved. Curtains at the beds would be a great addition, a more varied breakfast (maybe adding some fruit as well), more time at the rooftop during the night, and the option of a laundry service at the hostel would be amazing, considering the nearest laundromat is about 30 minutes away.

george (2/5): When I walked and greeted the man in the front desk, didn’t get a response. The man was simply rude and uneducated. When - The property was ok, specially the one not in the main building The main building was smelly and crowded and the morning front desk man was an apathetic and rude individual with zero manners. He needs either a good PR training and or to find himself a new job. Looks unhappy specially when you put him to work. I had to remind him I wasn’t working for him to give me commands without saying “please”, then he argues with you like if you are one of gis hood buddies! The evening and night personnel manning the front desk are courteous and friendly. The reason I was given a choice of accommodation.

Brandon (7/5): Change receptionist, 3rd floor was great though. - Third floor is a no brainer. Its great. Little co working space, roof top was amazing, kitchen also nice with newess applications. The room itself need more air flow or febreeze. And bathroom sink had black stuff coming out so no tap. Most of the reception were nice except one of the guys. He spoke a bunch of languages, like Japanese and spanish, he might have been the manager but he was kind of a donkey. Rude. Sarcastic and tried to charge me 5 dollars to leave my bags before check in when i uad only 30 mins until check in time. Yeah, he should stick to pancakes, face to face interaction is not his strong suit. Overall i loved my stay, i would say that one staff member ruined it for me and i wouldnt come back here because of that bad taste in my mouth from him. The other staff were cool, though

Rhiannon (6/5): Unpleasant place -- but great pancakes! - Overall my experience was unpleasant, but there are definitely props to give here, too. Good things: the kitchen area upstairs is beautiful (it's an out-of-the-way area on the highest floor)--looks new, spacious, clean--and the free pancakes for breakfast were AMAZING, that was an incredible touch! The women's bathrooms that I used were clean, and I saw the degree of detail the housecleaners put in, so all props to them. Worst thing: the whole place smelled like dirty feet. It was really gross. To be clear, I have no problem with hostels that ask guests to take their shoes off (I personally think wearing shoes inside is disgusting), but (probably dirty) bare feet and socks on the carpet makes the carpet smell like...dirty bare feet and socks. My suggestion is have guests use flip flops or other slippers instead, and have some air freshener; but part of the issue is also that there aren't many windows in the space, so the air is probably going to be pretty stale most of the time. No locks on the bedroom doors because "we do bed checks at night in the bedrooms to make sure there aren't any extra guests in here"?? I have stayed at literally hundreds of hostels, and have never heard of management coming into bedrooms at night to do bed checks; to me that's weird, invasive, and also why is management not otherwise aware of who might be coming in the front door? Sounds like a security issue, which especially makes me wish there were locks on the bedroom doors. My room was in the dark basement, really unpleasant space, and to get to the room you had to go through the luggage-storage area. The pillow on the bed was pathetic. Not clear if the blankets on the bed were washed, as they were not supposed to go in the laundry bin with the other sheets. Would not stay here again.

I decided to extend my stay by 2 nights and even got a discount for already staying! Everything was going fine during my stay but in the last night of my stay. For context there is a front door that leads to a vestibule with the front desk and then an interior door that leads to the inside of the hostel. Both doors had digital locks that had randomized number locations and the door codes would be changed semi daily. The attendant that night was being verbally aggressive and calling people "r***ds" for having difficulty opening the front door. 423dianted (4/5): Very Underwhelming - I was in the second building so I wasn't provided towels and had to go back and forth. Sink water pressure was abysmal, but the shower was amazing and very hot. Turning on the sink made a very loud groan sound which was annoying throughout the night. Also, there was very little space in the lobby and the room despite my paying extra for basically the more isolated, guest-friendly experience. The man running the counter was also very passive aggressive about my luggage situation despite the email I received stating nothing regarding what he told me. If you're staying here, go to the I or U Street Capsule Hostels. Much friendlier and cozier.

Patrick (9/5): Clean, quiet, affordable downtown lodging! - - 12 bed mixed dorm room was clean and comfortable - Duo staff was friendly and helpful - Fellow guests were quiet and respectful - Great location...easy, safe walk to restaurants, bars, groceries, and the National Mall. Only minor complaint...Facilities a bit clunky...many narrow stairways, no hooks in the shower room, squeaky doors, etc.

The place itself was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the location was very convenient for getting around. I also appreciated the warm welcome when I arrived- the staff initially made me feel at ease and were friendly However, there was one serious issue that affected my experience. In the middle of the night, a staff member opened the room door without warning to check if someone else was inside. This was unexpected and honestly quite unsettling.

Jones (5/5): - The shower room was very nice l wasn't able to try the morning breakfast as l had to catch my flight. I didn't like that they didn't provide body wash or shampoo in the bathroom on the shower wall. The Hostle in New Orleans does that. l didn't like that the beds didn't have curtain across the bed hanging up. I didn't like that we had to remove our shoes either.

German (5/5): - The staff was not unfriendly, but I did have an uncomfortable experience. On the day of my check-out, I left my room early and stayed in the common area while waiting to go to the airport. Less than an hour after check-out, I was approached and asked why I was still there and told that I needed to leave the hotel. I was not in the room, only in a shared space, so this felt unexpected. In my experience, most hostels allow guests to remain in common areas for some time after check-out. Other aspects I didn’t like: guests are required to remove their shoes upon entering, but this is not communicated in advance. Additionally, you are asked to remove your own bed sheets, which I would expect to be included given the price The only positive for me is that I was mainly using the place just to sleep. Breakfast was limited to pancakes.

Akshay (6/5): Stay was okay, location was great but staff needs to work on the hospitality. - Location was 10/10 with lots of bars and restaurants at a walking distance. The host/receptionist at the front desk was really rude and acted like a hostel warden. He laid out rules like it’s some kind of a prison and threatened to charge if anything remotely goes wrong. Didn’t feel at home throughout my stay. Please do better.
