Guest Reviews
- John (8/5): - Great location and great price. Judy was very helpful & friendly
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I Liked the room the location and quietness. I felt safe staying there. If I come back to the Cape someday I will defiantly stay here. The husband and wife that own and run the place are very friendly and nice.
- Arlene (8/5): Great value and location! - The wife’s owner was lovely and checked me in after a quick phone call upon arrival. My room - Room #8 - was very clean and well equipped. The room had a 1970’s vibe but no problems whatsoever. The hotel is very well-located mid-Cape and close to nearly everything you’ll need. Would def stay again for the price!
- paul (4/5): - Rugs are run down bed sheets seems not changes and bath tub no drainage when you are taking a showers. I will never recommend this to anybody tv is put in to a small table a/c is toomuch noise
- Verified traveler (4/5): Extra "service fee" and not clean enough. - There was an extra $3 "service fee", bed sheets were not clean, everything is old.
- Barbara (2/5): Horrible place!! - NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!! My husband and I have stayed at this motel a few years ago and it was great. We planned a last minute trip this past weekend and was extremely disappointed as we were checking in and was hit with a $100 security deposit.on top of that they wanted us to book a second room because we were a party of 3 adults an 2 kids under the age of 7, I booked the 2 queen bed room knowing my son would sleep with e and my husband and my friend would share the bed with his nephew. So on top of the 300 I already paid for the room they wanted me to pay another 300 for a 2nd room and $200 for a security deposit for both rooms! This place isn’t the Ritz Carlton! I immediately cancelled my reservation and found a place that was 100 times nicer!
- Jose (10/5): - The staff was great and the room was clean. Next time I go back that’s where I’ll stay again.
- DSHERMAN79 (10/5): - I’ve e liked everything about it , was he area is so nice!!!
- Steven (8/5): - Was a nice convenient place to stay close to many things to do
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The place was clean and fairly local to where we wanted to be. The basics were all there - everything worked. The place is not super modern with all the extras, but the family who run it are caring and thorough.
- Paul E. (8/5): - very pleasant. glad to have had a king bed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): BED BUGS!!!!!!! - Two words....bed bugs! Left in the middle of the night to find a different hotel because I was being eaten alive!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I was happy with the accommodations - no complaints or issues
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Privately owned - the owner was very friendly and accommodating. He had a larger room available for the night so he gave me an upgrade at no additional charge.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The place has not been kept up, lots of half-assed repairs. The only lamp in the room did not work and gave me a shock when I touched it. The sheets were stained with God knows what.
- Eileen (8/5): Delighted with our stay and the price was great! - The motel was very accessible to everything. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and it was very quiet at night. It had everything you need including a refrigerator and micro wave. The cost was very reasonable and the owners were helpful and friendly! We were very impressed. Thanks Bass River Motel. Me & my daughter are looking forward to our next stay!
- wilfredo (10/5): Wonderfull stay - Nice town .nice customer service and management
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For the price it was good stay , pleasant staff and I’ll stay there again.
- Don (10/5): Short stay - Owners waited up for us and were very friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - If you are looking for that classic cape motel from your childhood that is clean but charmingly old looking this is the place for you.
Walking distance to bumper cars, mini golf, and other fun activities
Would recommend. Owner was all smiles.
- Danielle (2/5): Worst hotel ever - Worst stay ever. They are all over you to see if u are smoking. Cant even walk out your room without them staring at u
Way over priced. Service is horrible. Just all around bad.. Go stay there you will see what im talkn about
- Jackie (10/5): - Very quaint and rustic place. Super clean on inside, but the outside looks a little rough (weathered). Its very quiet, but no pool.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really enjoyed our stay here. First evening had trouble with our sure conditioning, but it just needed some time to warm up. It was ice cold in our room a few hours later. Owners are lovely. Location is great. Will definitely go back.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Never stayed. Just wasn't feeling it when I went to check in.
- Dennis (8/5): - Quaint and cozy room. Not modern and sterile, bur comfortable, kept in the style of a 1960s era motel room. Short walk to beach (15 min) and shopping (5 min) and convenient to Cape attractions. Friendly and accommodating owners available at call. Only 20 units on site. Low rates make this a definite value for your vacation dollar.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The manager was very rude. We told him that what was advertised at Expedia is not what we see here. The room was filthy, we could not stay at that room with our children. Air condition and other equipment/furniture were very old or bad condition. I recommend that Expedia drop this hotel from the listing.
- Lori (10/5): PERFECT!! - Family owned and operated. Quiet, clean and centrally located. I have stayed here several times and just booked again. The owner is always very accommodating and a pleasure to work with. Perfect for a weekend getaway!!
- Lori (10/5): LOVE BRM !! - I have stayed here several times and will continue to do so whenever I am on Cape ! The owners go above and beyond to assure that you have everything you need. Reasonable prices and impeccable landscaping!! Best place ever!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It was not clean very noisy window air conditioner, a old wall air conditioner , broken and still in wall. while drying my hair with air conditioner on a fuse was blown had to walk to office ,they were polite and fixed it right away,
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Upon arrival to check in you are prompted to ring a bell for the locked office. If no one answers the Bell you are prompted to call a phone number. The check in process was odd as well.
Once in our room there were no toiletries so those had to be requested. We had booked for three guests and only two towels were in the room. In order to reach the light switch for the bathroom you had to reach over and behind the television to get to it.
Feet stuck to the carpet as if t had been sprayed with a sticky substance for cleaning.
- John (10/5): - The lady that runs it was very nice and welcoming. It has an old look to it but it’s very clean no odors. And everything works
- robert (8/5): - Not fancy, but clean. Staff was helpful
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Office was locked on Saturday, early afternoon. Had to ring bell or use phone number. Lady at desk was pleasant. She said room didn't have tissue (for the nose) . She promised to supply some. Did not. Motel is not well maintained. Toilet leaked. Husband picked up glass in his foot from the floor. Price was outrageous for this poor quality.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Judy the owner is very gracious, friendly and accommodating. Very nice people! This is a VERY BARE bones motel with two beds a small bath and little porch front seating for each room. Everything was clean, and it was pretty quiet. However, if you want anything more than a 1950's style old fashioned hotel that does not look like it has been remodeled since then, a bit rickety, then this place is not for you. Wifi does work and the location is IDEAL!! Walk to stop in shop in 7 minutes, DQ, mini-golf across the street, restaurants too, and a 20 minute walk to the beach. I had a great experience there, met some great people, and the owners were very efficient. Overall a good place to stay - affordable during summer. Thank you!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Affordable - Affordable hotel in a great area. Great value and had availability last minute.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I reserved a room and used my Expedia on-file American Express to hold the room. Before I arrived, I received a call from a man at the hotel saying that I had to pay with a Visa or Mastercard. I said OK and immediately he wanted the Visa information. I told him I was at the beach and would provide that information upon checking in. When we arrived, the desk clerk (female) wanted the Visa and a $50 security deposit in cash. She said something about if she took Visa for this then she would have to refund the money and she would be charges twice from Visa. If I paid the security with cash then she would return it at check-out after checking the room and verifying that it was still in good condition. It was then I realized that they probably could take American Express for the room but would prefer not to do so (probably because the transaction fee was higher). She also took down all information from my drivers license and that of the person travelling with me. I felt like a criminal with all the paperwork. She then asked about Smoking or non-smoking. Since my traveling partner smoked, I said Smoking, upon hearing that she said that there was no smoking in the room but there was a smoking location in the courtyard. I asked her why, if there was no smoking, did she ask. She said something about needing to confirm this. Since where are there smoking rooms anymore, anyway? This was the worst check-in experience ever.
- Caroline (2/5): - Run down hotel-chipping paint, lumpy beds, two A/C units in the room one works one doesn’t, old carpet, very thin pillows (most-likely very old). The bathroom sink tiny, just two small bars of soap (no shampoo, etc.), shower curtain spotted, no fan nor does the window open. Overall a very poor motel.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Don't bother - Old outdated, shabby...low end of the scale
- John (8/5): - While this motel is a bit dated, it is comfortable and quiet. Nice family run business who aims to make your stay pleasant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good experience overall, clean, comfortable, good location, quiet at night.
- Shelly (8/5): Cute - Quiet, clean, and close to great attractions. Very pleasant and friendly staff
- Craig (8/5): Clean No-Frills Motel - This is a basic, no frills, older motel on good shape. Clean large room. A good place to stay if you aren't looking for a resort with things to do on site.
- Kathleen (10/5): Good clean motel - Excellent customer service - clean motel - excellent value - rooms are a bit dated but good location!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Waste of time - Room was dirty and they tried to deny it even when I had pictures to prove it. Got a refund and went somewhere else.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For the price you cannot beat this motel. It was clean and comfortable, and within walking distance to several restaurants. It is about a five minute drive to the beach. It is a very basic motel and the furniture is outdated but if you are looking for a clean place on a budget this is a good pick.
- Kevin (6/5): - The place was ok. Expensive for what it was. It wasn't too clean but not too dirty, not new but not too old. It seems like it should've been cheaper for the condition. However, maybe it is a normal price for the location. I'm just comparing to other places in the US.
The annoying thing was the deposit. There was no mention of the required cash deposit. It's pretty inconvenient. It would have been easier to just put something on the card. You have to go and wake put the owner and they have to come and inspect the room before they will give you your cash back. Obviously, the owners have been financially hurt in the past, but it's a bit much to inconvenience guests when they just want to leave soon.
- Courtney (10/5): Great - Friendly, safe, comfortable, clean.
- John (8/5): Yarmouth Hotel, very affordable - Nice location in South Yarmouth. Spacious room, clean and updated. The staff was very friendly and stay went well. Only negative was a sketchy check in, call a cell phone to get a person over to handle. Good value for bargain price on Cape.
- Verified traveler (6/5): o.k. hotel - The bed was not clean.
- Martyn (8/5): Central Location - Central location to explore the Cod. The hotel room was spotless clean although dated. It was quiet location fridge and microwave but no coffee making facilities. Friendly staff
- Kevin (8/5): I would stay there again. - It was a good motel for the money. It's very vintage, not very updated, but that's what I liked about it. And it was clean.
- Jamie (10/5): Affordable - Friendly Staff - I booked this room last minute when planning to stop off for just a night with a couple friends while traveling around Cape Cod. It was one of the least expensive rooms listed on the Cape on Expedia at that point. The room had all the basic amenities one expects from a hotel room - A/C, refrigerator, microwave. There was no hair dryer in the room, but we asked and they provided one. The room was clean and the staff were exceptionally pleasant at both check-in and check-out. I would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): unprofessional no class Super eager for their mone - Booked the room through Expedia. Expedia associate was great. When I called the motel to confirm, they could not confirm my reservation. They said, "we will get back to you and if the money is there than you can have a room". Forty minutes later they called saying ok we see that you have paid. When you get here you will have to pay the balance of your stay. PAY MY BALANCE BEFORE I CHECK OUT. When i paid they could not give me a print out of my stay. The pool is empty and has not been kept up. The motel is very weathered and not kept up.
- K (8/5): Clean and Fresh! - We needed a last minute place to stay while visiting relatives on the Cape and found this 1950s vintage motel on Travelocity. Brought back fond memories from childhood for me. The price was right too. While the exterior of the motel is dated and the swimming pool non-functional, we just needed a quiet place that was comfortable and clean. The room was pleasant, good hot water shower with good water pressure, comfortable beds, a fridge and microwave, air conditioning, and although the carpet was not new, there was no unpleasant smell. We would stay here again. The owner and his family live on premises and were very pleasant.
We appreciated that there was no smoking or pets allowed.
The cute little diner--also vintage--across the street was very good and is apparently quite popular because there was a waitlist to get in for breakfast. We had BBQ bacon. Yummy.
- Don (6/5): Adequate - This was an adequate establishment. The place was clean which you would not have expected from the outside appearance. For a spur of the moment long weekend, it worked and was reasonably priced.
- mike (8/5): Clean but old. Smells old, feels old - Pool without water. Feels like Last time they renovated the rooms 40-50 years ago. Staff is friendly and nice.
- brenda (10/5): return customer - been going here for past 4 years. this year the tv was updated to a flatscreen and the Wi-Fi that was just ok last year was great this year with avg speed of 34-38 mbps according to speedtest.net. The rooms are always clean and the staff is very nice. this is our go to spot at the Cape.
- julie (6/5): Good budget motel - King size bed with microwave and small refrigerator and no amenities
- Phil (2/5): Bates motel - We were taking ferry to Nantucket in morning and just needed place to sleep. At almost $200 for a Saturday night stay, this was the least expensive place I could find near the harbor. Figured this would be a decent selection rather than paying $300-$400 at a nicer place. Couldn't have been more wrong. My wife slept in her clothes and used a towel as a blanket rather than using the sheets. No redeeming feature.
- Bernadette (8/5): No frills motel. - If you're looking for an inexpensive Hotel this is it. there is nothing fancy, but its clean. no pool no amenities other than free WiFi and free parking local to everything though
- Verified traveler (8/5): 1 night - Friendly staff at a great cost.
- Thomas (8/5): Clean and quiet, but no pool. - The Bass River Motel is a comfortable little spot. Room was clean, and service was great. The pool was drained and not open.
- skyeler (10/5): - It was amazing! Definently will be coming back
- Verified traveler (6/5): The Great American Outdoor - The place was just okay. Right on the road and rooms were almost bare bone....not even a hanger on the rod! The beds were less than comfortable and the bathroom was none better. Toiletry was poor and so was the linen. A/C was noisy. Not expensive for a room on the Cape in summer. I suppose you get what you pay for. I'd have preferred to pay a bit more for better linen, toiletry and a couple of hangers. It was affordable, but did not offer a good value.
- crystal (10/5): Great price, great area - We had never been to South Yarmouth, so we didn't know much about the area. This motel was perfect because right next door was a laundromat, within walking distance was food, mini golf, go-karts, arcade, and about a quarter of a mile around the corner was the ocean. The staff was friendly, room was clean. Great no frills place at a great price. They do prefer a small cash deposit for the key, but you get it back when you leave $25. Nothing outrageous! Very polite owners.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - My stay went well, no problems.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cute hotel in a great location. - Staff was very nice and friendly. My stay was pleasant and enjoyable. Would definitely visit again.
- cynthia (8/5): - It was ok.... we only stayed to sleep 1 night but I thought it was good
- Sonia (4/5): Unpleasant smell room - Room was smelling bad,
Carpet need attention asap" very duty "
We sprayed the room with odor kill.
- Verified traveler (6/5): You get what you pay for... - Check-in was a little strange- had to call a phone number for the attendant to arrive (this was midday). Was greeted with hostility and distrust because a member of our party was smoking. The place was very old and in desperate need of repairs. There were an old sink and fridge in the room (that really should have been removed) and the door immediately fell off its hinges. If you're looking for very cheap, bare bones, simple, and a bed, this is fine, but it was just really old and in disrepair...
- Verified traveler (8/5): - If you're looking for a simple, clean, quiet place to stay on the cape and away from the crime/drug hotels (just being honest)... This is a good place. Very quiet and safe.
- Dan (4/5): Not as advertised on website - The staff was very friendly, however the overall condition of the property is is very bad disrepair. The bathroom was really clean which is a huge plus. We were afraid to turn on the air conditioner and had to put the microwave on the floor to reach a plug to heat something up. The exterior of the buildings could use some TLC especially around windows, doors, and the shutters. A couple two doors down from us couldn't even shut their door sufficiently. The bathroom sink looks like it could fall off the wall at any minute. Carpets were very badly stained. The pool area is an eyesore and should be filled in (see Castle Dawn Hotel down the street) with dirt, gravel, concrete or something.
- James (4/5): Old room - Old room not worth the money I paid off season. Only cleaned one time. For the price I paid needs daily cleaning. Bathroom too small, water got cold qwick
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Relaxing getaway
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and affordable
Very comfortable bed
Friendly owner
- Paul (8/5): Older hotel but clean. No frills.great rates - No frills, refrig, microwave. Very friendly. We'll stay there again. Great location.
- Tad (6/5): Comfortable bed - Outdated interior, CRT TV with resolution 240.
BUT!!!!
Excellent price, clean, comfortable bed.
That's all I need for 1 night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was just n overnite. Met the Owner and his wife very nice people. Accomodations were fine
- Ronald (10/5): Very good. - Nice owners very concern about how room was and keeping it clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Okay, but could be better - There are better places nearby on Rte. 28. It is very clean, but no added amenities, like pool, breakfast, etc. Stingy with towels and paper products. Decent in a pinch.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel was good for 1 night stay. one of the lowest price in the town. Bed was comfortable for sleeping. It didn't had breakfast option though.
- Verified traveler (4/5): A Step Back in Time - This hotel is aged and very basic, but adequate for those with limited expectations. The air conditioner was very loud and in need or repair, and the bathroom sink and bathtub were worn. The room and bathroom were clean, and the bathtub drained well - I hate hotel bathtubs that drain slowly. I will try to avoid booking Cape Cod hotels on summer weekends, when rates are at least double the normal rates.
- Verified traveler (2/5): No thank you - Very ghetto. Pool was gated with chain link and not in use, parking lot so narrow you could barely maneuver your vehicle in and out, extra charges for absolutely everything including a second key for our room, never encountered that at any other hotel. No outlet in the bathroom for hair dryer or razor, old old old furniture, rickety, no hot water for shower, only allowed one set of towels. Would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
- Paula (6/5): Nice stay for the money - Very friendly staff, motel is little on old side, but had a little kitchen. Fine for our one night stay
- Walter (8/5): Basic motel near beach. - Motel is outdated but has clean updated bathroom and comfortable beds. It is close to beach, restaurants and stores. Ideal if you want a place to stay near beaches and reasonably priced. Staff consists of very nice family.
- Donald (8/5): nice place except if your handycapped - was happy with the stay except for hard matress, and handycap unexcessable.
- Ronald (6/5): Low-price alternative - Personnel very friendly
- Tad (10/5): 5* beds for 2* price - Good, clean, comfortable motel in 2* category.
Friendly staff.
- Gilbert (8/5): What a wonderful time! - We checked in much later then we said we would on our reservation but it wasn't a problem to the staff. Our room was very well maintained, no complaints there. When we realized we wanted to stay an extra day the staff made it happen in less than 10 minutes. They are very kind!
- Andrea (2/5): - Place should be torn down
- Verified traveler (2/5): Thieves at the Bass River Motel - Horrible my family has been all over the world and never been treated as poorly as this horrible hotel. I made reservations for my son and his fiancé. Paid with my credit card. Upon arrival the owner said they could not do this with out the card. Yet they charged my card. Demanded 100.00 cash from my son. They are a mixed race couple. Then they charged her card on top if it. I was not there they locked there stuff in there room to make them move after 2 days they and I paid for 5 .. Stated they had people comming paying 3 times more and wanted them to move or would give them their stuff back! I called and was hung up on two times by the husband could not understand them yelling and beyond rude behavior. Refused a refund and made 350.00 for which no one stayed at the hotel. The worst experience ever for my family thieves!!
- JR (6/5): Budget motel in a great area - We stayed for one quick night in July. This hotel was clean served our purpose. Staff was friendly and provided extra towels. Ice was available for our cooler. This is a pretty dated property, but if you just need a place to sleep, it works.
There was an unused wall air conditioner (in addition to one that functioned) that should have been removed instead of just being taped over. Also, this and the television were plugged into the wall via a sketchy combination of extension cords and a three-prong adaptor.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dump - These people areally thieves and the placenter is a dump
- Bostonian (6/5): Walking distance to Nantucket Sound - Just OK. Close to the ocean, mini golf, restaurants, shops. Don't expect much and you will enjoy your stay
- Danielle (6/5): Shabby looking hotel - The room was clean. The woman at the front desk was wonderful! The gardener was very friendly, helpful and hard working. The chairs in the room looked good, but were extremely uncomfortable. It was fairly inexpensive and, if you're not spending a lot of time there, it's a good deal. Probably wouldn't stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - this a decent motel, run by a nice Indian family
pros: cleaned daily, new towels daily, motel run by nice Indian family, free cable tv, WiFi available free, tourist brochures in office, few small shops nearby, microwave and fridge in room
cons: no coffee maker, noisy fridge in room, pool looks permanently closed, no vending machines
- robert (8/5): great value- wonderful staff - Made a last minute reservation to get to the Cape Cod, Hyannis area for a summer vacation. Summer rates on the mid of many cape in summer. This was very reasonable cost 1/2 half others. I arrived very late and Lucy was wonderful and understanding by waiting up for me (this is a smaller hotel without 24 lobby service)Checkout is 11:00 and she let me stay a sleep to 11 and gave some added time to shower and leave. Great customer service!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - All rooms look the same when u close your eyes. It was clean and comfortable. Only sleeping there so it was fine and the price is great
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was perfect for just sleeping then going to site see! Only thing is 9= coldest setting on the air conditioner, didn't figure that out till the second night.
- Verified traveler (6/5): You get what you pay for, the good and the bad - Positives: Very affordable. Room outfitted with basics, neat and clean, fine for a night in a pinch. Friendly desk staff.
Negatives: Credit card machine broken, needed alternate payment.
Had to call the police on a domestic dispute in a room nearby. Little sense of safety/privacy in that situation. No answer from staff at the time.
