Guest Reviews
- shannon (10/5): We had an amazing time skiing all day then hitting the hot tub and sleeping so comfortably. Can’t wait to come back! - Beautiful!
- jsglobe (2/5): Unfortunately a terrible experience - Really poor experience. In all my travel - same for all my family members - we've never heard of a cancelation request being denied when it was due to a death in the family.
However a director at Getaways, working on behalf of Olympic Village Inn, just denied my request for any reasonable credit/cancelation/partial credit of my five night stay. This is due to my dad being admitted to the ER with 2-4 days to live (failed kidneys, no dialysis). I offered documentation.
I booked through Booking.com and was told the booking was nonrefundable. Understood, and in the past I've only ever heard of nonrefundable bookings being changed or refunded in extreme cases. I've never heard of a bereavement request being outright denied with no attempt at human decency.
Please don't give people and businesses like this your hard-earned money.
- ishi666 (10/5): Excellent Location - Amazing location in Olympic Valley right next to Palisades/Squaw Valley. Free shuttle to the resort base makes getting to the mountain a breeze. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The units are bit dated, but well maintained and functional.
- Desi_B_Journey (10/5): Olypmic Village - Nice resort overall — although it’s a bit older, it’s well located, easy to find, and conveniently close to the highway, shops, and restaurants.
- luisa022025 (10/5): We are regulars - We come here multiple times a year during the ski seasons. Great location, quick walk to the village / ski lifts, or you can take the shuttles. There is a ski check, they also have snow shoes and other fun things you can borrow. Staffs are efficient and helpful, I like being able to text them, they answer very quickly. There are new fire pits and hot tubs on site. We enjoy the hot cider, mulled wine and hot coco they offer in the afternoon. The mattress is getting a little too soft for my old bones, but that's probably the only thing.
- Guilherme (8/5): Relaxing and fun - Movies available, clean , easy access to the village and fun little events in the afternoon such as Hot cocoa or spiked apple cider . No complaints
- Suecity7 (8/5): Tahoe/Palisades ski trip - This was our 2nd stay at OVI. Great location to ski hill and base. Shuttle and drivers were great in addition to staff at the desk and housekeeping. Rooms are small. Loved the clubhouse. Sad the new hot tubs were not open for us to use.
- AndyS2314 (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Palisades - Very convenient with free 5 minute shuttle to the lifts. Rooms are updated and comfortable. Staff is friendly.
- jing (9/5): - Location and great shuttle service Sounds coming through the floor or walls
- Sandman10101 (10/5): Not much better! - I stayed at those beautiful resort during the winter months and it did not let down.
Well before I arrived, I was contacted by the hotel staff to let me know what to expect before I got there. I've never experienced that level of service.
Next, the drive there from the south had the most prettiest views as we approached about an hour out. When I checked in, I was greeted by some of the nicest staff ever. They explained the area, amenities, and the resort capabilities in depth.
I must have called the front desk for questions 10 times, and each time, they were helpful and understanding.
I loved this resort and think if anyone wants to just get away to a beautiful place, this is it.
I can't wait to see what the improvements are going to look like next year when I go back!
- bartaandbill (6/5): OVI - Great location. Overall amenities lacking.
The ongoing construction made it difficult to enjoy patios and pool during the day.
- X8938PQmarkh (6/5): An enjoyable stay - We were using the resort as a base for day trips around the area more so than a destination in/of itself, so we can't speak to the activities available. The room was comfortable and clean, but generally the facilities could use some updating.
- JmB1951 (2/5): construction ruining the beauty - We can't plan a vacation stay at Olympic Village for next summer, even though we have stayed there for at least 5 years, because of the construction and failure of the resort to make any improvements. We are told that some big hot tubs will be put in, but it has destroyed the peaceful, serene beauty of Olympic Village, in our opinion.
- Tamara (9/5): Unique, quiet stay in a beautiful location - Quiet, unique There was some renovations occurring
- Cara (8/5): Everything we needed in our cozy suite; we plan on coming back every year! - Our room/suite had everything we needed- like an Airbnb home but more compact and more affordable. The kitchen was fully stocked so we were able to cook all of our meals. The rooms are situated so that there are window on both ends so we had a nice breeze blowing through. Everything was clean and cozy. When I made the reservation, it said there would be two queen beds, but there was only one bed, and one sofa bed. The sofa bed mattress was extremely uncomfortable. It would have been nice if there was a memory foam mattress pad topper for this type of bed.
- James (10/5): -
- Beth (10/5): -
- Todd (10/5): Great place to stay! - Great facilities and location. Very relaxing place to stay and very close to Olympic Village. A short drive to all that Tahoe has to offer.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Loved staying here, great location, and super clean - but did not realize the rooms didn’t have A/C.
- KimberlysAdventures (10/5): Amazing Tahoe - So I paid. Total of $600 for a 7 night stay in Olympic Valley in Lake Tahoe. If I had reserved thru the hotel, each night would have been $300+. I had an amazing stay! Thank you for making this something I can do yearly.
- Finnian (9/5): Superb - Nice location, friendly staff, great self catering facilities (hob, fridge, dishwasher), useful laundry Heating on permanently, although turning on the fan made it OK
- Lynne (8/5): - Helpful friendly staff. Loved the events they have daily. Only negative I wish they did maid service more than just once a week.
- Bf778778 (2/5): What a MESS!! This was out our window this morning on the third floor! - This Resort is a mess! They started construction over a year ago and have managed to tear everything apart at the same time and getting nothing done! We are owners here and are appalled at this place! I would recommend not to come up here until they tell you it is finished, which I think is going to be years! We are very dissatisfied owners ! I feel very badly for owners who are trading into this place ! They are going to be very disappointed! They have managed to continue to raise our maintenance fees through all of this! I just want to mention I never write negative reviews until this experience! The staff however is very kind and I feel sorry for them that they have to put up with this mess!
- juliakuo1 (8/5): Great shoulder season stay at Olympic Village Inn - We came to Squaw Valley/ Palisades in mid May 2025 for hiking and stayed at Olympic Village Inn. Inn is well managed, and currently under construction for 2 16 ppl hot tub to be finished in the fall. We stayed on the third floor, with a view of the mountains. The premise is clean, and the staff were very professional. Rooms came with a stovetop, a dishwasher, microwave, and a small fridge. It's convenient so that we don't have to spend a lot of time eating out. The bathroom was very clean and the water pressure was good. We like the Swiss Chalet feel. Bonus was they had happy hour a couple of times for their guests.
- Xiaojuan (6/5): - The location is good for our ski trip
- Christianne (10/5): Perfect family ski trip - Great location, very cozy and practicle. New kitchen with stove and dishwasher. The staff os very attentive and helpful. We appreciated all the little details. Jacuzzi, gym and playroom. Toiletries smelled so good! Free shuttle to village was great!
- MVfamily (10/5): Charming older facility - The Olympic Village Inn is a charming older facility near the base village at Palisades Tahoe resort. The units all have one bedroom with a small living room and a kitchenette. The resort has all the typical amenities including a good sized pool, multiple hot tubs, an exercise room and a couple of comfortable lounges. The staff are uniformly helpful and friendly.
A shuttle bus runs every few minutes to the ski resort and drops you off at the cable car base in about two minutes, closer to the lifts than if you were driving in every morning, and then picks up to whisk you back to the resort after a day of skiing or snowboarding. So easy and convenient.
There are no dining facilities at OVI but it is only about a five minute flat walk to the village, or a few minutes drive to Truckee or Tahoe City and lots of dining choices.
- luisa022025 (10/5): Regular family trip - We have been using OVI for several years, staying couple times each year, mostly during ski seasons. Great location, great staffers, clean and cozy place, we always look forward to hot cider and hot wine. Works well for our family, not much to complain about.
- Darius (9/5): Great place to stay for skiing at Tahoe Palisades or visiting Lake Tahoe in summer - Very functional unit with comfy bed, sleeper sofa, TVs, balcony, table with chairs, all the kitchenware, etc.
Shuttle to and from lifts was super convenient! I was a bit cold in the rooms and the thermostats didn't seem to work, also the heating fans were loud
- Adrian (7/5): Good -
- ginagC6475DQ (10/5): Hidden Gem - The beds are so comfortable. The staff is so accommodating and incredible. This property is a hidden gem. Home of 1960 Olympians. Lots of history with a comfortable feel and free parking with a free shuttle to the lifts. Rooms are cozy and well equipped.
- Shoshanna (9/5): Perfect place to stay overnight between ski days! - The staff was so kind, and I loved the free shuttle to the gondola and back (every 10 min). They'll even hold your skis in a little room by the reception. The sauna was great, too. I didn't try the jacuzzi because it was 15 degrees out and the walk back to our room after the jacuzzi would have been freezing - it's all outside and a bit far (we were in room 101). The sofa bed was totally comfortable, too. Over all, we were really impressed. There's a fitness room, outside BBQ for the summer, workable mini-kitchen in the room. All great! The TV just had very basic channels and no way to login to Nextflix or anything like that, but that's ok. An easy way to plug in our phones (USB or the new one) would have been nice, too. There's just old-school plugs, and we only had one connector.
- Rebecca (9/5): Our favorite place to stay at Palisades - The location is wonderful and the staff is always friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the free wine tasting on Thursday evening and the free shuttle that takes you to the mountain base (although walking is easy too). Not having to reserve weekend parking at the main lots is another bonus. The unit has everything you need including a 2-burner stove, a nice collection of cookware (pots, pans, knives, colander, etc.), plates and utensils for 4, a mini fridge and mini dishwasher. We cooked all our breakfasts and dinner two nights and saved a lot of money because the restaurants at the village are expensive plus have extra taxes and fees. Only 1 hot tub was open as it appears the others are under construction. The plans for the new facilities look great, so we look forward to enjoying them next year.
- barbaramT6842JR (10/5): Plan to return every winter to OVI! - This is an awesome resort. Very clean super helpful staff great facilities location is awesome for skiing or summer. Been coming for years and plan to keep on coming.
- Shelly (10/5): Exceptional -
- T4391NDcarolinac (10/5): My trip to Olympic Village Inn - It was a great vacation for my family, and I can't wait to return to the place
We were welcome by the stuff and everybody was kind and helpful and fun to be with
- Oleksandr (9/5): Wonderful stay at convenient location - The staff was friendly, and super helpful. We could sled on the bottom of the trailing path which is right at the hotel’s parking lot. The heating worked great, so we could dry out our clothes. The inn is within 7 minutes of walking distance from Palisades, which is nothing. We grabbed dvds for free at the desk and watched movies in the evenings Nothing
- B105OHcarlaj (10/5): Family fun in enchanted village resort - Beautiful enchanted feeling vibes, great service, room was very clean and housekeeping did an excellent mid week clean that we really appreciated! The gym is decent (it would be nice if they added some dumbbells) The game room next to the gym upstairs is small but fu, and the clubhouse downstairs is nice with full size ovens (which the rooms don’t have) that you can use. It’s so nice having a heated pool and hot tub as well as sauna to use! DVDs are fun to check out, and there is guest laundry which you will need quarters for but the front desk will provide complimented laundry soap! The washer and dryer are small and take $2, to $2.25 each which means you will need several dollars in quarters for small loads.
- ssfare (10/5): Olympic Village - Excellent stay. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Good location. Friendly staff. Would definitely come again.
- jwa82 (10/5): Olympic Village Inn - OVI is a beautiful location. The units are small, so be prepared, but if you want hiking, biking, quiet, and relaxation, this is the place. It is located half way between Truckee and Tahoe City, so getting to either place is easy. Lots of shops at both citieis.
- Pamela (10/5): - This property is historical and quaint, it was where the Olympic athletes stayed for the 1960 Olympics. It was a bit tricky trying to find where the front office was, but we loved the location. The woman at the front desk was great and so helpful. We were so pleased that we had bikes available on site for our use. Walking to the main Ski Area was easy. It is showing some age on the outside, but the rooms are very comfortable and have everything you need, including warm robes.
- isabelm799 (8/5): Beautiful location - Had a nice time staff is kind and beds are comfortable.
Need better parking and one more elevator at the other end of resort.
- Will (7/5): Great location, I'd wait a year before going back (hopefully when all construction done) - Location is great, room was very nice. Lots of constructions going on, property pretty torn up right now, which were not informed about until AFTER we booked, with no discount offered - felt disingenuous. Also, we could not figure out how to get coffee out of the coffee maker - brewed no problem, could not pour.
- Z3947LErobertg (8/5): Olympic Village in September - Laid back vacation with beautiful scenery! 75 to low 80's with hardly a cloud in the sky in Sept. Not to far from Tahoe City and Truckee.
- Sarah (10/5): - loved my stay here! if you like unique places off the beaten trail
- Alla (9/5): Superb - Ideal location, comfortable accommodation and cleanness. It was a bit difficult to climb up to the third floor after long mountain hiking
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice condo, balcony, activities midweek, excellent location at Squaw. Overall well worth having a kitchen.
- Boscheec (8/5): Good stay - Staff are polite and helpful. The rooms are too narrow with the living room at the other end of the room, it makes it difficult for you to leave if someone is sleeping. You either have to sneak through the bedroom or you feel trapped in the living room unable to leave. They also need more amenities. They do have free bike rentals which was super nice.
- MKLBArizona (4/5): very dissapointed - I went to this location under construction (My bad) when I called they said it wasn't that bad noise wise "it was" no AC in room. even tho the temp says 85 being over 6,000 feet it is like over 100 - to hot for not having AC in room
- summersungrl (6/5): Hopefully this was an anomaly and not the new OVI - I like OVI. It's my 2nd time using my exchange there but it may be my last. First, if you expect non-smoking, you better confirm first. Our neighbors smoked pot, smoke drifted in and my daughter had an asthma attack. Upon informing front desk, they stated that since it was not on website as non smoking they really couldn't do anything. No apologies or concern for my daughter. Supposed to hear from management the next day but they never contacted us. Happened again the next night as well. So we did not sleep well either. FED EX attempted to deliver a package there for me and was informed by FED EX that it was refused. Room was not cleaned midweek due to us accidentally leaving DO Not Disturb on handle - not a big deal but when we asked for clean towels we were told to bring down the dirty ones and then they would exchange them for clean. The kid that did the exchange only gave us about half our towels. You can have the nicest staff but also be ineffective and lacking in what true service means. At the pool we spoke to a woman who was not even staying there yet she was there with her kid so maybe a little loose with who is coming and going there as well.
I will say that although under construction, disruption was minimal 4th of July week.
OVI is typically a quiet place, tucked away in the valley and a pleasant retreat from the crowds of Tahoe. Once construction is complete and the website gets an overhaul, maybe touting itself as the 420 friendly destination it appeared to be so guests know what to expect.
- Thomas (8/5): Very good - The room was large and had everything I needed. The location is perfect and a short walk from the pallicades. The staff were friendly and moved our rooms close to each other even though we booked separately. The room did seem a bit dated and could be modernised a bit. There was construction going on at the time which made the view from my room unpleasant and blocked off some of the outside green area.
- BrookeP748 (10/5): A wonderful time at the Olympic Inn! - We had an incredible stay at the Olympic Village Inn. The rooms are cozy and comfortable ansaurprisingly spacious and the property has so much character and history. The staff was friendly and accommodating and we enjoyed free margaritas upon arrival. We are definitely coming back!
- Excursion561371 (8/5): Quaint Village with a view - Rooms are on the smaller end but manageable. The resort was under construction but the staff did notify us ahead. Minimal debris and dust so it wasn’t bad. Glad to see improvements on an older building being done. Only one wash machine was working. Our freezer did not work and it’s very small besides so just know not much would fit anyways.
There is a lot of activities to do around this resort that are family friendly. A lot of trails right outside your door. Tahoe City and beaches are close by. The Village is walkable to restaurants and shops.
- JJsadventures (8/5): Great family spot but lots of construction summer 2024 - We really liked the layout. There was a Jack and Jill bathroom between the living room (with queen pullout couch) and bedroom so we had a door to shut on each side for privacy. I liked the balconies. The kitchen was well equipped. The staff was very friendly. We loved the free bike rentals and nearby hiking trails. The only downside is there is a lot of construction on the property this summer. It got more and more difficult to get to the pool and use the amenities. There is also no restaurant or market onsite but it is a close walk to the shops and restaurants in the rest of Olympic Village.
- 866sherryb (6/5): Disappointed - We needed to use RCI points we had saved with them, but have been unable to book anything on the website within our timeframe(s). We had to call to get help. Amazingly, the agent found the Olympic Village Inn for us (which did NOT appear on the website). We were thrilled because it was located in the Lake Tahoe Area. HOWEVER, AFTER booking, we received an email apologizing for the construction going on at the site!! Had we known this was the case, we wouldn't have booked it. But, the staff was very friendly, helpful, and as accommodating as they could be. We did like the resort and the location of it in the Olympic Valley, and would like to return again AFTER the construction is complete.
- Morrison (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and excellent supplies.
- Lance (8/5): - Great old school Tahoe lodge within a short 3-5min walk to the base of Palisades. The rooms are well set up and cozy with a separate living room with a kitchen.
It’s an older property but clean and a great location.
- Kirsten (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (6/5): Pleasant - Location and price. Scott the shuttle driver is fantastic. Pool was not functional, second time this happened while staying here.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah F (10/5): We Loved Our First Stay at Olympic Village Inn! - We really enjoyed our stay at Olympic Village Inn. While the facility does need some upgrades, it was clean, reasonably priced, conveniently located, and the customer service was phenomenal. We also really appreciated the communal kitchen and dining facility that enabled us to cook our own dinner and meet some great people!
- Jadie (10/5): Olympic Village Inn far exceeded our expectations. Our place was large and clean. The hotel offered - Olympic Village Inn far exceeded our expectations. Our place was large and clean. The hotel offered a tour of the ski resort with Spencer which was AMAZING. And the bus system to and from the village was so easy and convenient. Would highly recommend and stay here again.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Marie (7/5): Good - Bike rental No Air condition
Not clean
- Kiersten (9/5): Lovely and beautiful but a bit too warm - The location and the friendliness of the staff was unbeatable. We loved the amenities and spending our evenings by the pool or playing with their giant outdoor chess set or just sitting outside on our private balcony. The rooms don’t have air conditioning and even with the provided fan the main room was too warm for us to get any sleep in so we had to go to the back room and sleep on the pull out couch with the back door open. It wasn’t as comfortable as the bed but it still worked out well
- Renee (8/5): Lots to do and see - Loved the location. Loved its proximity to restaurants and shopping. Loved the breath taking views. Loved the many on sight amenities. Property is lovely, especially when all lit up at night. The inn is somewhat dated, but that's okay - much of that translates into charm. The charm could better be appreciated with a coat of paint here and there and managing cleanliness of stairways and corridors. Outdoor corridor walls were dirty in an "ewww" way. My room was clean and comfortable - no ewww there.
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Ai (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ebba (8/5): Nice and simple value for money hotel - Big room! perfect for a skiing vacation
- Marianne (8/5): Very good -
- E. (9/5): Excellent off-season value - Beautiful suite.
Lovely amenities. Late check-in was challenging due to limited mobile service.
- Winter (10/5): Love the facilities and very helpful staff! - Suite rooms , location and wonderful staff!! It is difficult to get warm water for a shower!
- Madison (10/5): Perfect winter wonderland location + ski in/out access - We made one reservation for three nights and a second reservation for one additional night, simply because the deals on Bookings.com worked best that way. We understood that we were going to need to move rooms on our second to last day because of how we booked the rooms separately, but Olympic Village Inn allowed us to stay in the same room, which was so nice of them! They really made our trip so smooth and pleasant.
- Naman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sneh (9/5): Superb -
- Jerad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (8/5): For a very old development, with lots of history, it was actually quite nice. - There was no breakfast to my knowledge. If there was no one told us about it. Can't really think of anything.
- Melissa (8/5): - The last night, a message came in informing me that there would be a $75 surcharge per 30 minutes of late checkout if after 11 am. Seemed pretty unfriendly. The main counter worker Juan was really nice and made up for some of the annoyance with the inability to get anyone to answer the phone to do the 24 hour in advance checking that you, Expedia, recommended in the message you sent me. 45 minutes of trying to get through on the phone, I finally emailed the manager.
- Gary (10/5): Prepared for everything. - We got hit hard with a few feet of snow overnight. Power went out, citywide, it wasn’t pretty. Within a few hours roads were cleared. The hotel staff was incredibly prepared and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - external appearance is much better than the interiors which looked a bit crammed.
office staff is okay but seemed lacked exp.
location was very calm, quiet and one of the top attractions.
resort facilities were okay too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Although not new, very relaxing resort feel, the balcony looking upon the greenery, the large terrace with tables for outdoor dining or just hanging out. Great for hot summer days. Well maintained appliances, equipped kitchenette, practical layout of the rooms. Nice location, trail starting right next to the hotel, short walk to the restaurant area. Vacation home feel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall The Olympic Village Inn is located in a great area and the amount of activity around the resort is great! We went bike riding, played in their arcade and walked to the village for shops and food. However, the room itself left a lot to be desired. I realize it was made in the late 50s, but the room was rather cramped. The bathroom was extremely small with barely any space to move. Seemed like we were hitting the toilet paper holder at every turn. They had upgraded some areas of the room such as granite countertops. However, the couch that was in the room looked like it was also from the 60s. There was also no AC so if you like it cold in your room, good luck! We had to use window fans to try and keep cool. Overall, I expected better but the activity around the resort made this stay okay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Cable channel only TV drive us crazy and very frustrating. Staffs are very helpful. Room conditions are outdated. Setting and views from the hotel is stunning . We still love 💗 this place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We really liked the room arrangement with the kitchen of the back. Our stay was quiet and super convenient to the slopes. The parking was good and check in very simple. We didn't get in until 1130 pm but there was somebody available within a minute of the call.
- Lindsey (8/5): Good amenities and great location - Good amenities and great location. We used the shuttle almost every day to get to Squaw, but it’s close enough to walk during the lunch break when the shuttle doesn’t run. The small kitchen was convenient for Covid restrictions. The room itself could use a little updating, especially the bathroom.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was nice, it was good to have a livingroom/kitchen separate from the bedroom. We liked the location, not quite close enough to walk in ski boots to the lift, but parking closer in was plentiful. COVID had the hot tubs closed, we expected it but still wished we could have used them. It was difficult to locate the check in desk in the dark, but if you are looking for it, its all the way at the back side of the building.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good value for money - The place is very clean and covid safe. 7m walking from the lifts. Rooms are a bit small for 4ppl.
- Gabriel (10/5): - The room is huge and the kitchen is complete a great surprise. Staff is very pleasant. Zero complaints.
- AM (6/5): - Walking distance to village. Shuttle for transport when in ski gear.
But smelly, old building. Sheets and room not clean on arrival. No daily maid service.
- Yannick (10/5): - Amazing‼️
- Michael (10/5): Highly recommend - Outstanding
