• Alexander (8/5): Great stay - Extremely friendly host. Efficient check in and check out, spacious room, quiet neighbourhood and centrally located. Bathroom for my room was across the landing. Also, I think the ''bottled'' water was actually just refilled at the tap...the bottle caps were not sealed. That seemed a bit cheap to me.

• Fong-Yee (10/5): If you are looking for a home away from home, then the Rideau Inn is for you! - While the house is a historic building and older, it is well maintained and incredibly clean. It felt less like an impersonal hotel and more like staying at a home - very cozy and comfortable. The owner Lucie was so kind and welcoming as well. That I didn't stay for longer!

• Sarah (10/5): Really excellent place to stay, and would encourage anyone visiting Ottawa to look here first! - Rideau Inn is a fabulous place to stay in downtown Ottawa -- it's incredibly well positioned so walking to and from the sites is very easy. The room was lovely and large, and the breakfast exactly what one would hope for. The host Lucie was also extraordinarily helpful and accommodating! The bathroom across and down the hall from the "Québéc" room wasn't ideal, and I would have appreciated slippers for nighttime visits. The shower head is also too large for the small shower stall.
• Lori (7/5): Very nice. A beautiful home and right next to so many restaurants/museums. - The property was charming and very clean. We were greeted with a smile and lots of help. I had not understood the parking situation but the Rideau Inn made every effort to help us with finding a parking solution for our stay. We stayed in the Canadian suite, a basement suite with 2 bedrooms and living room, kitchenette and separate bathroom. It was all spotlessly clean. Being an incredibly hot 2 days we were thankful that we were in the basement where it was cooler and 2 airconditioners were provided, one for each bedroom. The noise of these might bother some people but we were grateful for the cooling and understand the issues around older homes. One issue for people may be the narrow stairway down to the Canadian suite. It was fine for us but if your mobility is limited another room might be better for you. The parking is very limited in that area - we were there on a busy Saturday however. It might be better thru the week.

Ofrecen desayuno por 2 $ que aunque es limitado está bien. Ofrece parquing a buen precio en la misma casa. La ubicación es muy buena andando en 10 min estás en el centro. Hay que subir unas escaleras para llegar a la habitación nosotros no tuvimos problema pero es posible que para algunas personas resulte un inconveniente.

• Stefanie (10/5): - Das Rideau Inn befindet sich in einem älteren, hübschen Wohnhaus und ist liebevoll eingerichtet. Es ist ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen! Die Lage ist perfekt. Die Innenstadt mit ihren Sehenswürdigkeiten und Geschäften liegen in fußläufiger Nähe. Gleich um die Ecke liegt die Elgin Street mit zahlreichen Restaurants. Unsere Gastgeberin war sehr fürsorglich und darauf bedacht, dass sich ihre Gäste wohl fühlen. Wer möchte, kann morgens zu einem kleinen Preis ein Frühstück zu sich nehmen. Ich würde jederzeit wiederkommen!

Nice property, but next time I would ask for a room at the back since there was a lot of noise from the restaurants on Elgin. But this was the weekend when students were back in town for university, so this may not be common occurrence.

The steps down to the basement are extremely narrow, so very dificulty to navigate a large suitcase there.

I can't say enough that's great about Rideau Inn. If I can get a room there every time I come to Ottawa, I'd be a lucky man. To be fair... The wifi is choppy in the room. But this is also mentioned when you first arrive in your room. And for me, it's no big deal. The wifi is perfect in the common rooms downstairs. So if you really want to watch that Netflix show... you can download it in 5 minutes downstairs and go watch it fine :)

• Gabriel (7/5): Good location and great staff were positives, but the weak Wi-Fi was a notable downside - My primary reason for selecting this hotel was its excellent proximity to the Learning Crossroads at UOttawa, a convenient 15-minute walk for my conference. I also appreciated being within walking distance of numerous restaurants. Beyond the great location, I was very pleased with how clean the room was, and the friendly and helpful service I received during check-in truly stood out. Unfortunately, the in-room Wi-Fi was very weak and inconsistent, which was VERY frustrating when I needed to prepare for my conference. I had to use my phone's hotspot as a workaround. Another point to consider is the shower's placement in the bedroom, right beside the bed. While this won't bother everyone, it could be less ideal for those sharing a room with someone they're not entirely comfortable showering in front of.

• Logan (9/5): Superb - Quaint, large, and comfortable room in a Victorian era home, with several spacious common areas, a simple (and cheap!) breakfast, and incredibly responsive staff (Lucy is delightful 😊). Perfect downtown location and a few parking spots for rent as well (cheap for Ottawa, trust me!). I will definitely stay there again. A few rooms have separate bathrooms, BUT they are still dedicated privately and are very good and clean, so a very minor inconvenience.
• Jacqueline (2/5): - There was no functioning wifi and no hot water despite running the tap for minutes on end. The building is an old house made into an inn. The tv was tiny and had only a few cable channels with Nothing I wanted to watch. I paid $200 per night plus taxes for this!! $100 per night would have been a stretch. And “breakfast” was minimal and cost $2 - I skipped that. How is this listed as a “three star” accommodation?????? I am very disappointed.

It’s very close to everything you need in Ottawa! Best case scenario- the washroom would be in the room but it was not too bad going in the hallway to the private bathroom. At least you know the bathroom assigned is for your room only. It would be nice to at least have Netflix on the TV. Most people like to wind down with a show before sleep and there was nothing on television! Not a big deal, but a little goes a long way.

The space was well equipped with shelves and hooks for towels and toiletries. Our room was on the main floor next to kitchen, dining room and living room. So it felt like home. The continental breakfast was very nice. Located near Elgin Street, we have easy access to restaurants and the important sights. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Many thanks to the gracious hostess!
• Marla (4/5): Not keen on returning. - The location was good. The room and sheets, pillows and towels smelled very strongly of laundry soap. I have allergies. I had to use Kleenex to wipe my hands. The room was nothing special. The shower was near the bed in the same room. Very awkward. No privacy if I'd been with someone else. Or what if the owner had to enter the room? There was no internet after 10pm and after 10am. Plus there was a strange mechanical sound outside my bedroom window every 15 mn.-30 min. The room was way overpriced!!!! On top of that the owner wanted $2 for the continental breakfast. Self serve. Why not include it in the room rate?It was a rip off. Disappointing!

• Susanne (8/5): Very good - This is a modest, quiet, immaculate property with an extremely accommodating host who will go out of her way to meet your needs. Breakfast is basic continental but excellent value for the nominal cost. Every question has been anticipated with detailed notes to make things easy. The bed was comfortable and the water, hot :). There is a park with tennis courts across the street and the Inn is just around the corner from Elgin's restaurants and weekend Market. It is an easy walk to the Canal and downtown. I would certainly return.

Breakfast delicious!! i will definitely recommend and if coming back, this will be the place to stay. My room was with full bath inside and it was great. It has a good desk where i was able to work a little. I hope they would have told me breakfast has to be paid in cash. I did not have change. However, staff was supper nice, i only had 1USD and breakfast cost 2 Canadian dollar. She let me have it! very kind
