Guest Reviews
- Rhiannon (2/5): - This hotel took payment for our stay the night before we checked in. The hotel burned down the night we stayed there. Terrible experience. Was never reimbursed.
- Primus (2/5): - The hotel burned down the night before we were to stay there.
- Devon (8/5): - Availability was great
- Barry (4/5): - Difficulty with stairs
- Frances (4/5): - The carpet was old and dirty. Furniture is old and scuffed. Lamp shade had several large water stains and cracks. Lighting was poor. All in all, very poorly appointed. Would not recommend it to anyone.
- Earl (8/5): Moose hunting trip to Deer Lake - Great service. Room was very small but bed was very comfortable. Building is very outdated but a warm atmosphere
- John (8/5): - A good place for an overnight stay especially with the pub and restaurant right in the building.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nothing to say since we only slept there and left the next morning for our next destination.
- Suzanne (10/5): - Good value. Just needs a place for the night.
- Richard (6/5): - Room was very tired looking and bed had seen better days
- Scott (6/5): - The staff and check in were totally fine, pleasant and efficient. The property is clean and convenient to the Trans Canada too...but VERY dated property.
- Corina (6/5): - It was very average, old property, tired rooms
- Frank (8/5): - Very nice .close to all amenities
- David (10/5): - Good stat
- Chantal (10/5): - Price was fair and the property had a restaurant which was very affordable and had good food for the price.
- Ronita (8/5): - First impressions were not good, the lady at the desk appeared to be rushed and wasn’t very friendly, short on customer service. The beds and bathroom were clean and comfortable. It needs to be updated— carpets are old, bed spreads and curtains need to be replaced with brighter and cheerier colors. Dark accessories make it look dirty. Not having a place to eat close by was inconvenient after a long day of driving. Overall, we did have a good sleep and shower before hitting the road again. I was disappointed to hear that Come From Away was playing and we were not told when checking in, we would have made plans to go see it had we known.
- Saikat (6/5): - Rooms and furniture are not upto the mark.
- Robert (10/5): - Really nice place to stay
- James (8/5): - Affordable and comfortable
- Ronak (10/5): - Quiet and friendly staff
- Divya (8/5): - All good
- Kathleen (10/5): - Clean and comfortable and affordable
- Gerald (8/5): - NA
- Edith (10/5): - The floors in the room were totally uneven. Rooms need some updating. Otherwise our short stay was good.
- Melinda (8/5): - Really helpful staff
- Linda (4/5): - Had power bars that didn’t work and feel they were unsafe. A fire hazard.
To many stairs for seniors.
- Beth (10/5): - Front Desk staff were so nice. Has a hometown feel and was overall very happy with my stay.
- Paul (8/5): - This Hotel is on a ATV friendly route, excellent for visitors traveling the NFLD trails.
- Michael (4/5): - Price was affordable
- Jeremy (4/5): - I wish we had a better experience, but it was very disappointing. The parking lot was in very poor shape. The entire floor smelled like smoke - possibly because of the restaurant and bar downstairs.
The room was incredibly outdated. I'm not usually concerned with this, but the bedding was at least 40 years old.
I cannot recommend this location.
- Carolyn (6/5): - was a busy spot but had on site dining
- Robert (10/5): - Older property but very guiet with comfy bed and great shower
- Vaughan (10/5): - Excellent
- Mike (6/5): - To in and out traffic all night long.
- Norma (10/5): - An older property that has been refurbished over the years. Extremely clean with great amenities. A wonderful place to wind down after a long drive.
- Gerald (2/5): - Room extremely small.. bed was tiny and raised on the foot… outdated…. Wayyyy overpriced for that hotel…. Won’t ever stay there again!!!
- Debra (6/5): - Adequate overnight stay
- RONALD (10/5): - The motel was what was expected for the area and the price. Bed was very uncomfortable.
- James (10/5): - The Driftwood Inn surprised me a bit. I was expecting it to be least favorable of all the hotels for my trip around Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. I actually wound up sleeping the best there, and I was able to find grocery and gas options nearby. Parking behind the hotel was always available, even though I didn't see it at first. The one thing that could be improved would be the odor in the lobby that seemed reminiscent of a bowling alley. Otherwise, the Driftwood Inn worked out for what I needed to do.
- Bernadette (6/5): - They use a lot of extension cords. I don't know how safe that is. Pretty dated but clean.
- Sandra (6/5): - Reserved a queen, got a double. Also room was small
- Mary (8/5): - restaurant
- Mary (10/5): - expensive
- Kari (8/5): - Quaint place to stay, was a little hard with all the stairs with all of our stuff.
- Christina (6/5): - Simple check in but needs some Reno’s for sure
- Margaret (10/5): - The only thing was no ramp to get to the main entrance and no elevator. Difficult if you have hip and shoulder problems
- Cyril (6/5): - I would best describe the Driftwood as a quaint hotel that is a bit tired. The room was also somewhat small. Nothing really bad but not especially modern. It was handy to have a restaurant attached.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - High value for money, competetively priced. Bed was a bit short and too soft.
- Jacqueline (6/5): - Building is old, could be really nice. needs an update. The room we stayed in, bed need changed out ASAP. Has a pub and a Jungle Jim’s restaurant attached. Food was good.
- FREDERICK (2/5): - Had trouble checking in. They claimed that we did not have a reservation and attempted to double charge us. I was glad that I had the records showing that I had paid. After about 40 minutes they found where I paid in full. I would never stay here again.
- dianne (2/5): - Not fit
- Hector (4/5): - Everything
- J Jean (8/5): - Double bed. No queen.
- Robert (2/5): - Entering the Inn required navigating the gauntlet of people smoking on the front stairs and more stairs to the room. Receptionist was inconvenienced by our arrival. The room was terrible - the floor wasn’t level with at least a 3 inch drop over six feet. This led me to question the structural integrity of our room. There wasn’t any easy seat, just an office chair. There was no where to put suitcases other than on the floor. There was substantial light leakage around the door (unlevel floor & walls I suspect). A 1.5 inch gap at the base of the door required stuffing a towel under it. The bed was a small double with a soft mattress. I feared rolling off the bed all night. The room did have a quiet air conditioning unit that we could control ourselves. Would I stay here again - absolutely not.
- RUSSELL (8/5): - Had a good night's sleep. Room was clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Stay at Driftwood - An overnight while traveling through on vacation. Front desk staff friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating.
- EDWARD (10/5): - There was not clear signage on where to park. Also, there were people sitting on both sides of steps every time we went in and out. As seniors, we need support to hold onto the railings.
- Ray (6/5): - The first room was not good but the second room was ok
- JACK (8/5): - Good setup
- Mark (4/5): - Sheets had stains. Dirty shower mat. Needs an elevator
- Bonnie (6/5): - It was very dated
- Natalie (6/5): - the hotel is definitely older and you get what you pay for, as it is not super clean and somewhat run down
- Johan (8/5): - It is outdated, queen size is moderate.
- Laura (2/5): - The room was very cramped. The beds and carpets were very outdated and dingy. There was also an unpleasant odor and little bugs flying around the room. We ended up checking out and finding a different hotel to stay.
- Zulekha (6/5): - Compact, dated. No elevators.
- Nadine (6/5): - Okay place to sleep for a night.
- Susan (8/5): - Stayed one night. For those with mobility issues be aware there is no elevator.
- Trevor (10/5): - Handy hotel for stay before heading to the airport. Very basic, but the shower was very good.
- Jane (8/5): - Be prepared to carry your baggage up two flights of stairs...
- Wai (6/5): - No elevator. Too many steps to carry luggage.
- nancy (8/5): - A little dated but clean and safe! Driving distance to restaurants. We arrived after hours and had to call for service but they arrived within minutes!! Great service
- Amanda (8/5): - The basics are ok: clean, modern bath, hot water. The place is shabby and old fashioned, with elderly carpets and dated bedding. The staff were welcoming, helpful and kind. This makes up for a lot.
- Howard (6/5): A bed - Older establishment. They clearly try to keep it clean but the facilities are worn. Some renovations have been done (Hall carpet, bathroom fixtures), but they have been only the minimal. Biggest improvement would be to remove all bed coverings and install new flooring.
- Bev (8/5): - We liked our stay and enjoyed going to Gros Morne but the weather hindered our 2nd day of hiking with pouring rain.
- Edward (6/5): Pass if you can!!! - Tight supply in this area. Lots of stairs in this dated hotel. Granted updates are ongoing, but this will always be B rated hotel. Colours are a poor choice, dark colors add to disappointment. Front desk needs a shake up. Hotel is clean and room comfortable.
- John (8/5): - More interesting and lovely people..
- LeAnn (10/5): - A good choice if you just need to sleep. Clean with okay beds and amenities.
- LeAnn (10/5): - Clean and quiet at a good price. We checked in late at night within any problems. Slept well!
- Jennifer (2/5): - The owner is very igroant
- pauline (6/5): - Outdated but clean. Dinner at restaurant was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful
- Dean (4/5): - The room was ok. The bed was Terrible!!!!
- Sam (6/5): - Your average motel. Little dated amd small but would do for spending the night. Not many options. Price is average. Service was always good even late night check in
- Phillip (8/5): - Clean. Nice staff. Older building
- Janet (4/5): - This place should be tore downed
- MATTHEW (10/5): - Very good property. Would stay again
- jean-marc (4/5): Not worth the money - Tiny room
The floor in the bathroom has a scary slant
Had we known we would have spent a few dollars more and stayed at the Holliday inn
- Laura (8/5): - Just the fact that you ĥave to carry cases up the stairs. But its an old building so that really is to be expected. But overall a good experience.
- Brian (10/5): - Good to go
- Charmaine (10/5): - The service is very friendly
- Frank (10/5): - All was excellent
- Paula (10/5): - Very convenient for my needs. Clean and comfortable room.
- Mark (4/5): - Tiny room with sticky carpet and 3" elevations change in the middle of the room, dresser was scratched all to hell
We found a toe nail clipping on the floor and hair on the bathroom floor.
Also, quite sure the original mattress is on the bed. Lumpy, uncomfortable.
- Primus (6/5): - Friendly guy working
- Boyd (8/5): - Great place to stay just needs a few up date
- Benjamin (10/5): - Quiet and neat
- Brenda (10/5): - I was very pleased that I was able to check in immediately after I arrived at 2 AM. I was told I would have to phone to let someone know I had arrived. I was relieved that someone was there.
- Travis (2/5): - Small, outdated, electrical outlets not working
- Shirley (8/5): - The staff was great! Beds and pillows were comfortable 🙂
Older place and dated but clean with ample toiletries and fluffy towels.
I will definitely stay again.
- Jeffrey (8/5): - Nice clean
- Helen (10/5): - I especially enjoyed the food served on-site. It was superior to anything I have ever tasted and I am 68 years old. The staff were so warm and comforting. Thank you Driftwood, the kitchen staff and bar staff.
