Guest Reviews
- Kate (10/5): - Our stay at The Inn at Old Harbor was wonderful. My partner doesn’t love walking and They have their own stair case from the ferry parking lot.
Within minutes we had picked up our keys at their sweatshirt store and had our feet up on our private balcony which made for great people watching and a cool breeze.
Room 3 on the second floor had a king size bed and great light at sunrise. We could see the Newport Bridge! It was clean and comfortable
We are coming back for Columbus Day weekend
- Christopher (8/5): - Janell at the front desk made my stay wonderful. She is a very friendly, warm person--very personable and inquisitive if everything is OK.
- Courtney (6/5): - Hotel is situated over a gift shop so it can be a little confusing to find (check in at the gift shop). No A/C, but that is common on the island. Generally an older building and decor and overpriced - but you are paying to stay on the island!
- Logan (10/5): - Very nice, thank you!
- Dianne (2/5): - This is an 1880’s slum! The room had rotted furniture, the stained carpet was covered with a filthy hard rattan mat that hurt my feet and the mattress was like sleeping on a cement floor! In addition, there is no TV in the room. Plus, the porch looks like it will soon fall off the building. I have no idea how they stay in business as a hotel!
- Ramzi (2/5): - No food, noisy as if you sleep on the street,
- Michele (6/5): A place to lay your head - When I booked my room I was aware it was a no frills older hotel, I did not know to what degree.
It was clean, no frills, but it smelled old/musty. We did not spend a lot of time in the room; it was a place to lay your head for the night, but it could have been a little better. A little paint and wallpaper goes a long way.
Also, when you see the picture of the hotel, it looks nothing like the picture. It looks older but quaint. It has not been painted in a while. In the picture there is a nice red boarder that makes it look nice, not any more; I did not recognize it when I was looking for it and I was in front of it.
You are close to where the boats come in and a place to lay your head, that’s it.
There is a store under you selling BI merchandise, so that is convenient.
If you are in BI check it out to make sure you are ok with the hotel.
- COURTNEY (8/5): - Cute room, shower could use an upgrade
- Gary (6/5): - Broken and missing curtains with no staff to remedy the issue
- Thomas (4/5): - We almost could have tolerated the old, outdated, shabby, moldy, screen less windows but the staff running around and causing a chaotic presumably drunken ruckus starting at 11 pm and lasting couple hours did it for us. Ironically, the house rules we were given specifically stated “quiet hours” from 11 pm to 7 am. Needless to say we really didn’t sleep. It all started a little shaky when the room wasn’t ready on time for 3 pm check in. We foolishly thought that since they asked for our ferry arrival time (10 am and we certainly didn’t think we were checking in that soon) that the room would be ready when they said. We understood that our nightly charge of $466 (taxes included) was a little below market given the weekend but we were really surprised by how awful and dirty the room and bathroom turned out to be. I mean jaw dropping. Not sure how or why there positive reviews of this place. We are Block Island regulars that normally stay at another inn but wanted to try this place given its proximity to the main drag and surprise…..availability. Maybe the second floor is magically beautiful but we’ll never know.
- Madelynn (8/5): - No blinds or curtains on the windows. Smelled like pee.
- kevin (10/5): - Quaint
- Yolanda (8/5): My BD get-away 2022 - Stayed overnight, wish we could have stayed longer. I feel it was overpriced. Location was awesome. Skey Villegas was courteous and helpful.
- Mark (10/5): - Nice quaint place
- Susan (10/5): - Great location at Old Harbor. We loved sitting on the back balcony overlooking the harbor and the front balcony overlooking Spring Street. No frills, but charming, comfy room and very convenient.
- Jeremie (10/5): - The location was great, right in old harbor. Could see the ferry right from the room. The bathroom was clean.
- Corey (2/5): - Terrible extremely uncomfortable beds and NO AIRCONDITONER
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overnight trip - It was a nice convenient location. Check in was simple as was check out. Didn't realize how small room was but for one night it was fine!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very good stay - Great service from Jose, very friendly.
- Kara (10/5): - Loved the balconies!
- Marlo (8/5): - No
- Albert (2/5): MISERABLE, HORRIBLE CAVEAT EMPTOR - MISERABLE. This is the very worst place I have ever stayed. You dont find out about how horrible the place is until it is too late. No cancellation, no refund and very expensive.
The Hotels.com website doesn't tell you about this ancient atrocity. Check in is at the sandal shop downstairs. It was ok, fast and Jose did not verify my identity other than my giving my name. Never saw the staff again except when they were banging the door to their office on the third floor. Rumor is that the Inn is haunted, and maybe so, we were awake all night and all day with the doors constantly banging.
2) It is not until after you commit to the non-refundable place that you get the email stating you have a "private" bath and that it is way down the hall. Hard on old people who have to get up in the night.
3) The linens are awful. There is no top sheet just an old worn-out raggy blanket. The pillow are horrible. And this is a luxury place?
4) The hotel is ancient and has not be modernized. At least the old door frames were nice. The floor in our room (#5) was painted white floor board that looked like it had not been washed in years.
5) There is no housekeeping. This is allegedly due to covid concerns but smacks of the owners just being cheap.
6) No internet or TV. Come on this is the 21 century.
7) No climate control. The fans in the room worked, at least some of them did. At night it was pleasant but during the day miserable.
I could go on. NO EXCUSES
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location of the IOH couldn’t be better, quiet at night but close enough to walk to the fun during the day! The staff was incredible. Jose was accommodating from start to finish, couldn’t have had a better trip if i tried! Thank you again, Jose & staff!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location—friendly
- Karen (10/5): Right in the middle of it all - Great location! Clean room with a hard bed. But it was the perfect place
- Carlos (8/5): - Dustin was awesome !!! Always available when needed. Very professional in his approach to all my needs and questions. Thank you
- Jennifer (10/5): Great stay - We were afraid the bed would be two small for 2 people but the bed was comfortable and the room was very clean
- Verified traveler (6/5): not the best place - It said “private bathroom” when we booked the room. But when we got there, we found out our bathroom was detached and down the hall! It’s really inconvenient. The room didn’t have TV or WIFI and felt dusty everywhere. There’s no staff on site. If you need someone you’ll have to go to the store downstairs and there’s nobody there after 10pm.
- Innatoldharbor (10/5): - Our Host Dustin was very nice and accommodating and he made us feel at home
- James (4/5): - No A/C property in disrepair. Ended changing lodging didn’t stay.
- JoeandKathy (8/5): - Room was small but the private balcony overlooking the harbor was fantastic
- Rosa (8/5): - Property was very clean. Staff was friendly and available for any questions. I was worried about the room not having any AC but with the windows open, there was a nice breeze and we didn’t need it.
- Eldis (10/5): View! - The staff were very accommodating along with the manager it was a very nice stay! We had lots of luggage as it was our first family trip w a 10 month old! The manager offered us help and guidance we will be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property was excellent, staff was very accommodating and helpful in sharing where things were located and what things to check out. Would definitely recommend this to people looking for a simple, easy, and centrally located facility.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved the location and friendly staff and atmosphere!
- Sean (10/5): Best hotel on block - Amazing stay, so beautiful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was a unique property had a very antique type feel of yesteryear.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Private deck - Small room but nice common areas plus great to have direct access to a private deck. Great water pressure in shower.
- Karen (8/5): - Excellent location. Quiet, even though it was in the middle of town. Walking distance to everything, beaches, restaurants, bars, shops. No a/c but it was bearable because of the sea breeze.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was very clean, in a great location, workers very friendly. Wish there was ac and more variety on breakfast
- Ryan (8/5): Center of it all! - Looking for a hotel on Block Island for a short midweek stay and found an uncut gem! Hotel is just off the ferry terminal and centrally located. Room was large enough to move comfortably for two of us and airy. No AC but ceiling fan and window fan were more than adequate.
There is a Continental breakfast each morning in a dining room overlooking the front street and wine and cheese at 5pm on the back veranda/balcony so you can watch comings and goings of the Old Harbor marina and the ferry!
Staff was most accommodating and helpful with lots of good recommendations.
Good restaurants for dining nearby and, more important, breakfast within a two minute walk!
NOTE: If you're taking your car over, there is only scarce parking. The hotel can offer other suggestions.
A good choice for a quiet place st stay!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disappointed - I don't like to talk negative but the room was very small and the bed was very uncomfortable. The bathroom didn't have a door and was so close to the bed. The breakfast was ok but could of been better.! For the money I expected better. Sorry.
- trace (8/5): great location. - last minute booking for an impromptu trip. Price was great and room was lovely. Nice very helpful and nice. Breakfast was lovely. Will plan on staying here again.
- sean (10/5): - Staff was very helpful and curteous. Excellent location right off the ferry docks.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My friend and I were in town for a wedding weekend. The Inn was perfect for our stay on Block Island. I would certainly recommend this Inn to others. It was quiet at night and it was exactly what we needed. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room, but when we did it was perfect for our needs.
- Sue (6/5): good location, expensive for what you get - spent one night, 2 days on BI for our 20th anniversary. Really enjoyed ourselves! Typical high resort area price was expected- no air/no TV is also typical for B.I. but at least had private bath! Ask for a back room so street noise doesn't bother you because your windows will be open! Enjoyed renting mopeds to explore the island, lighthouses, bluffs, uncrowded beaches, nice surf, variety of restaurant choices, plenty of bars with live music
- Verified traveler (4/5): So so hotel close to entertainment district - Really shabby hotel. NOt so much old and charming as old and broken down. Could not fit your entire body in the shower stall. Over priced at $250/night but Block Island is expensive. It was clean though. Cable TV in common room could not be set to any channel except QVC and no staff on premises to speak with.
- Dan (6/5): Nice old inn with great view of Old Harbor. - Nice old inn kept very clean. Small room but a nice balcony with water views. One drawback was no TV. Overall it was a good stay.
- EDUARDO (4/5): Definitely not worth the price paid - Very small room. Just room for bed and not much more.
No a/c. A fan upon request. Still too hot.
One plus---cleaning staff had room ready early, and Livia who received us was very pleasant.
When available staff of one was very nice.
If you need something you must call an offsite number and then they send someone who is working nearby. Went in july no a/c very hot room. No ice, machine broken. I was able to see other choices on the island, much better options for price paid. It was an anniversary and we were both extremely disappointed. Will definitely not be back and I do not recommend based on other choices available like the Atlantic or Springhouse.
