Guest Reviews
- Sharyl (10/5): -
- Katherine (6/5): History and Luxury in Stockade Neighborhood - Amazing location. The building is so grand and impressive. I could walk to Stockade and amazing coffeeshop nearby. The yoga studio is outstanding (thank you for the class). Yes, yes! I enjoyed a little bite downstairs for breakie (this would have been nice to be included?). The amenities were lovely: cosy bath towels and a beautiful bathroom. The hotel is very open to the other businesses in the building. This felt a little unsafe. The light in my bedroom from the outside was too bright. And it was cold. The cost is quite high for the experience. However, I feel good supporting the efforts to restore this building.
- Tiffany (10/5): Cozy & Historic - Very Kind Staff, Nice decor and energy of the place. Just some creaks that are expected in a historical place.
- Dan (10/5): Our stay was very easy and comfortable. - Location was great. Central to center of city. Very walkable. Staff was very engaged and genuinely interested in our comfort and satisfaction. There was nothing negative at all in our experience.
- Susan (8/5): Very convenient location. - Great location and friendly staff. Very historical snd well kept. No bar or restaurant on site
- Vickram (10/5): -
- Karen (9/5): Perfect. Wish I had more time to explore. - History
- Judy (8/5): The staff was more than accommodating. We will consider returning once it has been restored. - I loved being in a historical setting. Schenectady is my hometown and we were visiting friends. I did not realize the amount of reconstruction that was taking place and that a fire had almost completely destroyed the building. No elevator was a real concern at our ages.
- Naudane (10/5): - My husband and I were to arrive in Schenectady via train past the check-in time for The Stockade Inn. Zakhar, an owner, was wonderful and stayed in touch with us via messaging. When the train arrived, Zakhar picked us up from the train station to not only transport us to the hotel, but to also point out some restaurants that were open and within walking distance. His hospitality was so warm and generous.

- Terri (10/5): Everything was great! - Beautiful and historic.
- Patricia (6/5): Staff were very friendly, lots of historic charm and free yoga we’re all a plus! - Historic and small business Office chairs in room. I suggest upgrading to a comfortable arm chair, bathroom door was dirty and no heat in room. Coffee machine was broken and no in room coffee available. No place for towels in the bathroom.
- Stevens (9/5): great location to Union College - excellent location for spending time with student at Union College. Attached coffee shop was a bonus and delicious.
- Leland (9/5): - Everything
- Vanda (10/5): A lovely stay! - This was our second time staying here. A charming hotel in a lovely Stockade neighborhood. A walking distance to nice restaurants, coffee shops, the ice rink and Union college. The manager was very helpful and even picked us up from the airport late at night. Loved our stay.

- Clark (9/5): This is a wonderful historical building that is being thoughtfully restored -- a delightful stay! - It is a beautiful historical building, we'd love to revisit. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed talking to them. The interior is a "work-in-progress", but will be wonderful when complete!
- Miressi (10/5): Visiting my son for parents weekend and arrived at the inn very late. What a smooth process!!! - What a gem in Schenectady!!!
- Felix (10/5): - Awesome
- Janice (10/5): We love old historic inns rather than the ubiquitous Marriot or Hiltons widely available. - The area around the Inn is safe, we left our car on the street-though there is a special lot across the street that can be used. The Stockade area has an interesting history dating back to 1690. There are old homes with placards and a walk around to the park near the Mohawk River is a must. The owner/manager helped us with our luggage as we were on the second floor. There is also an elevator to use. The location is about a 15 minute walk to the downtown Schenectady where there are a variety of dinner choices. What could have been better? Maybe a complimentary coffee or breakfast-however, there is a privately owned cafe on site with excellent choices-you don't have to leave the hotel to get to it. Oftentimes complimentary breakfasts are unhealthy-this cafe had many coffees teas, smoothies and baked goods choices and options using high quality and fresh ingredients.
- anthony (10/5): - We had a great stay at the Stockade Inn. It was a nice experience to stay away from the cookie cutter hotels and enjoy a more quaint experience. The sitting areas around the inn are wonderfull for a morning coffee or evening cocktail. If history and warmth are what you're looking for , look no farther!
- Jeanine (10/5): - Very friendly staff
- Mallory (10/5): My stay was perfect! - Beautifully renovated but still left classic looking! Zakhar was absolutely amazing and tended to whatever was needed and was always available!!! Location is amazing!!! Cant wait to book again! I loved everything!
- Kathryn (8/5): - Lovely historic hotel

- Judith (10/5): - Glad to support this lovely inn.
- Megan (10/5): -
- Zion Wilson (10/5): - The staff was very kind and attentive. They helped my friend and me carry our bags upstairs to our room. The Coffee shop downstairs was also wonderful. The room was very comfortable and organized.
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Rafael (10/5): - Great place to stay and very friendly staff
- Tamara (10/5): - Staff were friendly. Great coffe shop. Room was very large and comfortable
- Edmund (10/5): - Parking
- Terri (10/5): - “The staff was excellent, with a smooth and efficient check-in process. The owner was welcoming and went above and beyond by assisting with our bags. The room was exceptionally clean, and the bed provided a very comfortable stay. Rosie, the resident house dog, added a charming touch to the experience.”
- Tammy (10/5): Was above my expectations, true perfection, loved the extra fluffy blankets and towels - The hotel was perfection, vintage, clean and the hospitality was above and beyond, I've worked in hotels for over 30 years and this is how a hotel should run. Highly recommend this place and the concierge Rosie so cute ( the dog) Everything was amazing
- Cindy (10/5): - Great stay! Zakhar picked us up and dropped us off at the aiport. Thanks again.
- Donna (10/5): - Recently renovated. Zahar was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed!
- Harris (10/5): - We really enjoyed the beauty of the very old building and how the current owners are striving to restore and re-envision it. Rooms are very spacious and beds comfy. The staff was very welcoming to us.
- Andrea Marie (10/5): - Great, comfortable, and beautiful place. Historical area... great coffee shop on the first floor.
- Cathie (10/5): Wonderful stay - Wonderful inn in an historic building. Zakhar was very attentive via text for any of our needs and Mary Clare met us upon check in and was very nice showing us around and making sure we had anything we needed. The room was clean and comfortable and in a really nice area. The historic vibe was wonderful.
- Gina (10/5): - Check in was smooth and site was communicative leading up to our reservation. Site was clean and adequately appointed. Yoga classes and cafe were a nice feature to offer guests.
- Donald (9/5): A comfortable one night stay that served us very well for an event at nearby Union College. - Room was nice. Inn was quiet. Free parking on site was great. 2 free cold water bottles were appreciated. Although we did not use for a 1 night stay, having a refrigerator was helpful. Manager was very helpful. We had an event at Union College and the location was very convenient for us. A matter of personal choice, but one of the beds was overly firm. Nothing the Inn can control, but street outside had periodic loud racing vehicle engines passing by that disturbed sleep. We did not need one, but having a microwave with the refrigerator (or one in a common space) could be helpful. A pot of coffee in the common area could be a nice touch, although likely do not want to compete with the coffee shop on site.
- Lowell (10/5): Stay here and enjoy yourself. 10/10 - This was a spectacular stay, through and through. Every interaction and experience pleasant. From top to bottom. The best in the biz, so accommodating and helpful and kind. Fell in love with Schenectady as a result. You have to have the coffee at Graham's Coffee Parlor in the main level. Also, be mindful of the work it takes to maintain such a place, and then revel in their vision and the comfort abound. Will be back. Grateful for everything. History lives here.
- Tamara (10/5): - We stayed here on the college tour for my kid and to be quite honest I’m rooting for Union so I can stay here for visits. This place is vacation-worthy!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Historic hotel oozing with charm - Such a beautiful building built in 1814! So many cool things- beautiful bar and parlor on the main floor (they should rethink the furniture though). The bar could really be something special and attract outside guests for drinks.
The room is beautiful with a gorgeous fireplace. The bathroom is new with nice L’Occitane products. The beds and bedding were super comfortable. Again the furniture arrangement needs some work. They should also fix a few things that were odd- like the closet doors don’t really work and are missing glides at the floor, so they are swinging. Rooms should have a luggage stand. Wash the windows from the outside so we could better see the historic church across the street. But overall we really loved the charm and had a very comfortable stay.
- Watson (10/5): Short, sweet & I'd stay here again! - Coffee shop was delightful. Room was clean. Wish we had the room to ourselves!
- Georgina (10/5): - Housekeeping lady was very welcoming and room was lovely and clean and good area to visit. 😃
- David (10/5): - Charming building. Gracious staff. Luxurious room with a comfortable bed. Coffee shop downstairs very good. Great location.
- Tracy L (10/5): - The owners are most welcoming and provide personalized service. The yoga studio is beautiful. The building has a comfortable, historical feel. We will definitely be returning!
- Kristi (10/5): Wonderful stay in quaint facility - Location was great, historic old building that was beautiful inside. The room was spacious and the staff was wonderful. We were greeted right away even though there was an event going on.
- Tara (8/5): Enjoyable - Historic. Quaint. Fairly quiet. Coffee shop. Comfy beds nice bathroom. Nice and close to all historical sites so it’s a nice walk as a couple. Staff very nice. Sticky door in summer. Stuck. Portable AC not central but it’s historic so expected. small shower. There is a nice bar with music playing but it’s not used. It would be nicer if you could go down for a night cap. I assume it’s used only for events however it’s inviting and disappointing you can’t get a drink and sit for a spell
- Diann (2/5): - There was no tv. No onsite staff after 8pm and we had a bug ran across the room
- Mark (8/5): - Room was enjoyed, took along time to cool down the room, the Air conditioner did not have great control, the fan speed was low and could not be changed
- marcia (10/5): - Such a unique building in a beautiful historic district. All of the staff I encountered were so kind and helpful. My room is very clean
- Mui Mui (10/5): - We had concert tickets at SPAC and this was a great location for us. Ten minute drive to cute downtown area. Zakhar was wonderful! Checked in late and he was very welcoming, made the process easy. He was very responsive when we had questions or needed something. Will definitely return.
- Carlos (10/5): Quick trip to Schenectady - Great location, beautiful building, room in great condition, coffee shop available.
- Earl (10/5): Very comfortable and a great location. - We arrived by bike and they assisted us with our luggage and bike storage. Debra the housekeeper provided ice and restaurant recommendations too. The entire staff were great.
- mary (10/5): - Located in a wonderful historic area. Great walking for the history buff and the owner was so helpful in helping with a problem with our rental car. So refreshing in these times where service is often nonexistent. A special treat is Graham's Coffee shop in the Inn.
- Vanessa (10/5): Amazing can’t wait to go back. - It was beautiful!!! The location was great located in the historic Stockade district surrounded by 200+ year old homes and churches. Walking around the neighborhood was a sight to behold. There was a lovely market/cafe a block away we went to often.
John the proprietor was so kind and welcoming. All the staff were wonderful and so helpful.
The room was beautiful, large and with these incredible windows. The bathroom was spacious.
We are already planning our next trip.
- Baylea (10/5): - The staff is so welcoming and nice. We loved that the hotel has a yoga studio and a cafe. It’s only a three minute walk to Frog Alley Brewing, which was great for us! We will definitely stay here again.
- Meghan (10/5): - Lovely just lovely! Very accommodating the owner/manager/operator gave a us a ride to the casino! Very clean and comfortable!
- Helga (10/5): Historic boutique with charming details - When we arrived the owner greeted us! With a quick history of the building. Zakhar had already texted us ahead of our arrival and greeted us at the reception desk. They were kind enough to let us check in to our room 5 hours early!! The hotel is absolutely lovely. They're still doing restorations and i can't wait to see when the works all done. Our room was spacious. Bath soaps and lotions smelled amazing. Towels and linens were great quality. You can tell they really care about details at the Stockade!! The town is really sweet. Beautifully kept historic homes. We were here for a concert at SPAC and it was an easy drive back and forth. Highly recommend this hotel!
- mark (10/5): - Work in progress - old building w beautiful renovation
Located I. Cultural district and walkable
- Daniel (10/5): - It is a beautiful old building with good WiFi and temperature. Surrounding neighborhood is amazing. I will be coming back! Everyone was really nice and took good care of me.
- Kimberly (10/5): Although it is an older building, it is well taken care of and one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in. Every detail - Booking Nothing
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Katherina (10/5): - Historic Property
Ample Parking
Room was very spacious
About a 10 min walk from train station, dining, theater, and shops
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Roei (8/5): Very good - The room was huge and beautiful and very comfortable. Good location 1 ply toilet paper and the shower was very small for such a huge bathroom. Showerhesd too low.
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hal (10/5): - The property is in a gorgeous area. The inside is lovely from a historic point of view. It is not ADA compliant with the exception of a ramp in the back. The upper floors were not accessible due to a functional and charming elevator. It stopped at working during our staff and fortunately the staff did their best to get it operational again. The bathroom in our room was not ADA compliant although we had requested one during our reservation. Also the reservation for a king sized bed was not fulfilled. We ended up with a double or queen sized bed. There was also very limited seating in our room when our other family members came up to see us. On the other hand the staff was very friendly, very accomodating, and did everything they could to make us comfortable.
- Anna-maija (9/5): A lovely room, stay there... - A lovely house and room, so beautifully remade.
The neighbourhood is not so nice, at least for europeans...avoid route 5...scary...Streets nearby dirty and poor... Look above...
- James (10/5): - It is a beautiful, historic building, although still a work in progress. The room was very clean and the staff available, friendly and helpful. The room only had a desk chair, but that was all I needed. The in-room air conditioner was loud, although it made for good ambient noise. The bed was firm. It was a great experience to be in such a special building and I would stay there again.
- Terryb47 (10/5): Schenectady Visit - Excellent personal service, well appointed room, transfer from and to railway station and friendly & helpful visitor advice. Nothing
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard E (10/5): - The 2 owners were extremely helpful. My wife and I were picked up from the airport with a luxury, new SUV and the driver was most informative and courteous. A+++.
- Mullen (4/5): Not many great hotel choices in Schenectady, but staying at the Stockade felt like roughing it - Location Bed was hard as a rock, no heat in the room
- Yann (10/5): Nice - Really felt welcomed. Neat location and cafe. The manager was super polite and easy-going. There was a recurring clicking sound in the electric air vent of the bathroom. It was distracting enough that I had to sleep with earplugs, woopsie. You might need to have it checked. ;-)
Still a 10/10 stay.
- Lin (8/5): We were overall pleased with our stay and with a few improvements it would be well worth the price. - Lovely historical restored property.
Owner was very attentive when we arrived and went out of his way to assure we were comfortable during our stay.
Room was large with lots of windows. On one side of the bed there was something poking my back that felt like a piece of metal. It was a king bed so I just moved away from that spot. My husband said his side was very comfortable.
We weren’t sure if the two glasses provided were safe to heat the instant coffee we brought with us in the microwave. Paper cups would have been nice.
The shower was very small.
There was soap provided in a shower dispenser but none on the sink in bathroom.
- Cameron (10/5): Wonderful stay in beautiful inn - Beautiful historic inn was charming inside and out. A lot of stairs to get to the top floor (no elevator).
- Jennfer (8/5): Very good -
- Alexandra (10/5): - I had the pleasure of staying at The Stockade Inn and was completely enchanted by its charm and character. Nestled in the heart of Schenectady’s historic Stockade District, this inn offers the perfect blend of old-world elegance and modern comfort. The architecture and interior details beautifully reflect the rich history of the area, and every corner of the hotel feels thoughtfully preserved and warmly inviting.
- Dave (10/5): - I liked how quaint and quiet the area is. The hotel room we were in was fairly newly-renovated. Very spacious. The hotel itself has a lovely character and is homey. Bed was comfortable and everything was clean and tidy. Zakhar was very courteous, helpful, and informative.
- Mike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - The team at the Stockade Inn were amazing! They checked in on us, recommended some great spots to check out, and were overall super helpful. Our room was simple and cozy with gorgeous lighting. The improvements that the team has made are evident and appreciated- we loved the new details. Thank you so much!
- Susan (8/5): Historic hotel, great location, attentive service - would stay there again. - Great location. The owner was super helpful. We received complimentary yoga at the on-site yoga studio, which was a really nice bonus. The coffee shop, Graham’s, at the back of the building was a great addition and we received a $20 gift card for there as well - nice vibe and they bake their good in-house. We were able to walk to dinner and the theater which was a plus. Room was large and bed was comfy. Also like having free streaming services and I didn’t have to enter my own credentials. Would stay here again. Looking forward to the restaurant opening. It did take the water in the shower a long time to heat up but when I mentioned to the owner, he said they had plans to address that. Otherwise, no issues.
- Joseph (10/5): - Great place! Great staff! I wish I had more time to spend there. Highly recommended.
- Ethel (10/5): - Very helpful and friendly staff.
Lovely room and elegantly, simple interior decorations.
- David (10/5): - Fun place to stay. Yoga studio and Coffee Shop in the building
- Deborah (10/5): - Room was large, room was warm.
- Vanwormer (8/5): Very good -
- Nicholas (10/5): - My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay. The staff truly went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional.
