Real relaxation and no traffic noise !!
Jane and her delightful staff produced the ultimate breakfast and we would love to stay again.
Five star recommendation.
- Philippa (10/5): Charming farmhouse stay. - Due to many delays, we didn't arrive until very late, but Jane made sure our room was lit and welcoming. We were staying in the barn and the room was perfect. Beds comfortable and shower prrssure was strong. Breakfast was excellent, good coffee.
- Eric (10/5): A stay with a view - Our stay at Whashton Springs Farm was ideal. It was spotless, well maintained, in interesting surroundings ( a working farm but without strong smells or excessive noise) and surrounded by the traditional and beautiful Yorkshire countryside.
- Matthew (10/5): Lovely place to stay - This is a really nice, out-of-the-way place. It is part of a working farm but is very quiet indeed. The owner (Jane) is very attentive and a very good cook (the breakfast was particularly excellent). If you're looking for some peace, and some old-fashioned hospitality, this is a really great option.

- Matthew (6/5): Good farm B&B - Stay was pleasant and in stunning countryside. It is a working farm as advertised and Jane was busy lambing as well as hosting us!
Breakfast was good and freshly cooked to order. Heating was a bit unpredictable and pillows were not the best, but bed was comfortable and room was clean.
Only thing that was surprising was that you couldn’t pay with a credit or debit card - I have never come across that before.
- alison (10/5): - Quiet and tranquil location, friendly welcoming owner and staff. Outstanding breakfast -local produce. Very clean, stylish accommodation and really enjoyed our stay.
Hope to return.
- DAVID (10/5): - A great find for our overnight stay. The room was huge with a nice en suite and the bed very comfy. The breakfast had plenty of choice and was very tasty. The accommodation is part of a working farm but was very peaceful and it was surrounded by stunning scenery. Finally a thank you to Jane for the warm welcome and hospitality and a special mention for Fergus the very friendly cat.
- SF (10/5): Stay at Whashton - I enjoyed my stay at Whashton Farm very much. I live in London and the country setting was just what I needed. The surroundings were beautiful and it was quiet. The air was clear. It was close to places of interest to me and I had lots to do in Richmond and further afield.
The walks were fine and I enjoyed my tour of the Georgian Theatre in Richmond, as I go to the theatre often in London.
- Michael (10/5): - The house itself has historic character and is surrounded by scenic dales farmland. A peaceful setting. An excellent breakfast is on offer.
- Joanne (10/5): Great overnight stay in a beautiful setting - Beautiful setting, close to Richmond (2 miles) and easy access to A1. Can’t wait to go again in a leisurely capacity.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - The rooms are spacious, warm and dry and well furnished. The farmhouse is charming and set in beautiful scenery. The breakfast was from local farm produce and perfectly cooked, and I mean perfect. Last but not least, the owner could not be more helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend this place.
- Atul (10/5): Lovely getaway close to Yorkshire Dales - Fantastic location, and great for access to the Y.Dales. Lovely clean accommodation with excellent breakfast. The host is so helpful and approachable.
I'll be recommending to my friends and family!
- David (10/5): Highly recommended - I can understand why this place gets a lot of returning guests. It’s so peaceful and in beautiful grounds. The room was well decorated with a lot of attention to detail. We’ll definitely be back
- Rossa (10/5): So nice - I really enjoyed my stay here. The room was lovely and had everything you might need. It was so quiet at night and the bed was super comfy that i had the best nights sleep. Breakfast was delicious too! 5*'s 😊
- Elliott (10/5): - We had a wonderful time at the farm. The beds were comfortable, the shower was large, the staff super friendly. And the surrounding area was beautiful. Lovely for walking and seeing nature at its best.
- Jane (10/5): Friendly hosts and beautiful location - The most important to me, and what will take me back is the wonderful friendly hosts, fab breakfast and comfortable room in a beautiful location.
- Andrew (10/5): - Lovely location, rooms perfect for a short stay.
- Kevin (8/5): - B and B but better
- Nisha (10/5): Very attractive b&b and great service. - Everything I needed to set me up for a great day at work. Clean, comfortable room, solid and tasty breakfast. Quiet, peaceful and very well appointed room with en suite.
Based on a busy and active farm, surrounded by countryside, a few minutes from Richmond.
- Stephen (10/5): - Were made to feel very welcome.
Lovely room with great views of the surrounding countryside
Peaceful.
Fresh eggs for breakfast
- Susan (10/5): Lovely weekend - Jane was very welcoming. The accommodation was very clean and well presented. The farm was in a lovely location and we were very happy with everything. The breakfast was lovely and all of the staff very friendly too. We watched the birds and a woodpecker each morning in the garden whilst having breakfast. Would highly recommend.
- Jayne (10/5): One for the ‘Will Return’ book! - This is an absolute gem of a find! From the genuinely warm welcome beautifully furnished room with every need catered for - thank goodness for the ironing board, hair dryer and extra large brolly! - through to farm cooked breakfasts with freshly picked rhubarb and a view of the woodpeckers on the bird feeder, EVERYTHING was faultless! Apologies for gushing, but having stayed at distinctly average B&B’s this stands head and shoulders above the rest. All staff are helpful, friendly, happy to go the extra mile and the chef is worthy of praise - this is someone who knows how to cook!! The rooms are set in an old steading, full of character but with all modern facilities. My bathroom was immaculate, water was instant and hot and the shower was powerful enough for me. Bed linen and towels are luxurious and someone has a great eye for detail as interior decoration is above and beyond the usual. I appreciated the ultra quiet nights, apart from the occasional owl hooting, and arrived after vacating an unacceptably noisy hotel. I’m so glad I did! Location is super, easy access to Richmond and the A66 and a short drive to the A1 however here you can take a breath of stunning countryside, look out over hills and open fields, eat farm-laid eggs for breakfast served with local sausages and totally relax. Teesdale, the Dales and all that North Yorkshire has to offer is a mere hop away. This is a B&B where someone has got it absolutely right! Well done and a very grateful thank you!
- David (10/5): - Very comfortable great views.
Traditional working farm and house .
Not disturbed at night by any noise from farm.
- Julie (10/5): Highly recommended Farmhouse B&B - Jane was the perfect host. Very welcoming and made us feel at home. The room was a really good size and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was amazing with the best poached eggs! A lovely place to stay about a 7 minute drive to Richmond. Highly recommended and will definitely stay again if we return to the Yorkshire Dales.
- David (10/5): Stay here if you can - So peaceful, clean and comfortable. Lovely staff and fabulous breakfast. Also, the most gorgeous friendly cat!!
No phone reception (at least on our network)…which I count as a good thing. The WiFi was superb though.
- Denver (4/5): First Nights in Yorkshire!! - We were looking forward to our first stay in Yorkshire and so went for a Deluxe King Room on Suite. Unfortunately we were surprised that the room was a little tired regards furniture (Wardrobes, Chair and Table being damaged and in disrepair). And completely dumbfounded that there was no serviceable shower at hand in the bathroom. Only a bath that took 45 minutes to fill, a Toilet seat that was broken, and basin tap loose. A small ironing board but no iron to use on it. Room was not service regarding clean linen or towels during our stay even though all Covid restrictions had been lifted in the UK. Jane's efforts at providing a really good Full English Breakfast every morning, together with the outlook over the rear garden from our room was almost a redeeming feature. But I cannot forgive or forget not have a serviceable bathroom in our room for our 2 nights stay. Not so Deluxe!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Superb breakfast and setting to enjoy with a lovely view of surrounding countryside.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely stay on a working sheep farm. Peaceful. Nice lounge area guests may use. Jane is a gracious host. 3 miles from vibrant Richmond, and easy ro get into the Dales.
- Amanda (10/5): - Was absolutely fabulous
- keith (10/5): - Nice quiet location
Comfortable room
Excellent breakfast
Good base for exploring that part of the country
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Gorgeous building set on a working farm. Incredibly homely feel, comfortable, and very welcoming!
- Andrew (8/5): Rural Richmond Relaxation - We received a very warm welcome from Jane and we appreciated the pot of tea and delicious tea bread she brought to us in the comfortable lounge on arrival.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - On arrival we were greeted by the owner Jane who offered us a pot of tea and homemade cake
The bedrooms have been carefully thought out offering everything you would need for your stay including cut glass wine glasses for your wine that we bought in Richmond
Breakfast superb good quality food
I would recommend this farmhouse for your weekend breaks
- HazelYoung (8/5): - The staff were lovely as soon as we got there we were made welcome and were made a drink in the lounge. The food was excellent. It was very quiet. The drawback for us was we didnt have a signal for our phone. We would stay there again if we were in the area Hazel Young
- Chris (10/5): Beautiful setting, very welcoming and peaceful. - Excellent stay, highly recommended.
- Richard (10/5): Great stay - Great farmhouse B&B in a delightful countryside location, very welcoming, great breakfasts and an ideal location for exploring Swaledale and Teesdale.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was beautiful. We were able to see new born lambs in the barn, the gardens and surrounds were peaceful...the entire place was amazing! Lovely host, great breakfast! Couldn’t fault it.
- Julian and Sarah (10/5): All good clean and friendly - All good clean and friendly
- Verified traveler (10/5): Farmhouse quiet view garden great breakfast - Wanted walking area so just outside Richmond and convenient for dales
- Clive (10/5): Nice stay on a working farm - Nice tea bread cake and cup of tea on arrival.
- Rob (8/5): Nice B&B - Overall our stay was good. The accommodation was excellent, especially with the provision of two rooms in the family suite which meant a great night sleep for us and our daughter.
However, on arrival the entire house, accommodation and farm yard were in total darkness with no-one to meet us despite agreeing our arrival time. A note was left on the guest entrance door, however, this was not visible as there was no light.
As stated despite this issue on arrival the overall stay was good with excellent breakfast.
- Rob (10/5): Great countryside B&B - Very comfortable B&B on a working farm. The owner and her staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was beautifully furnished with a comfortable bed. Lovely dining room overlooking the delightful garden. Great breakfast with eggs fresh from the owners hens.
- Pat (10/5): Golf trip - Very warm friendly welcome. Room with door directly into the courtyard was really good, no stairs etc to navigate with our golf clubs and luggage. The room was just what we wanted, clean and comfortable and there was a good shower. The full English breakfast was delicious. Short and easy drive into Richmond for evening meal and close to golf course. Excellent B and B
