Guest Reviews
- Magdalena (10/5): Good value for the low price - This was our second stay at this hotel. It offers good value for the low price. The rooms are clean and beds are comfy.
There are some great breakfast spots and dining places nearby, so you’re well covered for food options.
We visit Southampton a few times a year, and this location suits us perfectly. We will be back again. It's located in a busy area, which can be a bit noisy at times, but we knew what to expect and didn’t mind it.
- Ian (5/5): Not for me again - It was very hot 30’s and we were in the top apartment so was incredibly hot the windows don’t open all the way, so it was unbearable really hot. There is also a restaurant right beside the apartments and if there was ever to be a fire I don’t fancy your chances getting out of the top floors as the windows are very securely restricted from opening all the way.
- Ronald (7/5): Close to cruise ports and restaurants and clean - Close to the cruise ports and restaurants were close. Bathroom was very tight and had to carry all bags up 1 to 1 1/2 flights of stairs
- Dean (6/5): Overnight in Southampton - OK for a one night stay.
Room was clean. I didn't receive access information prior to arrival and since there was no reception and I didn't have an internet connection at that time, I was stranded at the door. Fortunately the friendly barman from the adjoining bar turned up and was able to assist.
Everything was fairly cheap and basic. Unable to turn overhead lights on.
- Suzanne (8/5): Very good - Spotless and great location Shower to high for my husband and room tiny.
- Angela (8/5): Very good -
- Judy (10/5): Exceptional - Had all we needed till the cruise the next day. The instructions to open the front door didn’t actually match what we ended up having to do. Took awhile at midnight to figure it out
- Colin (2/5): Very poor - Nothing The room was very small ( I've stayed in bigger tents) the bed was rubbish and felt like the springs were coming through. Had to leave the window wide open it was so hot but the down side of that was cooking smells wafting in. Also the bathroom light didn't work and the toilet seat wouldn't stay up so all in complete crap would never ever stay again ☹️
- Anonymous (8/5): Good experience thanks - Good easy place good stay Windows didnt open wide
- Laura (7/5): Room didn't look anything like the photos. - Location was good, not too far to the city center, easy to check in with self check in. Room was clean and the bed was comfy. The room didn't look anything like the photos! It was bright green and really small. The shower was not great, the water would just trickle out and it would be either freezing cold or boiling hot. I wouldn't stay here again unfortunately.
- Liya (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good - Cleanliness, comfy bed Noise, difficult to find
- Akhil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (9/5): Fabulous - No breakfast. The room was excellent Bit confusing how to get in the property but the staff in the pub were very good.
- Anonymous (1/5): We definitely will not return - Location close to port As instructed via email we arrived and entered our unlocked designated room 3. We could not get the key code to work to secure our room. We made contact with customer service only to be met with the most rude, ignorant and arrogant female who accused us of entering a room we had no right to be in. I politely explained I have an email stating room 3 was allocated to us to be met with verbal accusations and threats of additional charges. I re explained that I had an email stating our room no to be room 3, only for the female to state she didn’t believe me, there was no such email sent and they had no trace of this made up email (by me) stating we should have used room 5 and had absolutely no right to enter room 3. Insisting on my ‘made up’ email being false she sent the barman up who immediately arrived, he was quite pleasant. I could hear the silence on the other line when she asked him to view my ‘made up’ email and he confirmed that the email I received stated room 3!! No apology, no pleasantries from the female and a further 20 min wait for the key code to lock the room. Communication was very late to begin with to enable us to enter room at our pre agreed 3pm instead not being able to enter until after qtr past 3. We definitely would not return.
Room very basic, mattress not very comfortable.
- Rawlings (7/5): Enjoyable - Location was great. Quaint room. Friendly helpful staff. Access to room earlier would have been nice. Pillows were a bit old and flat.
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Charlie (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jayne (9/5): Clean room, good location - Good location
- Olga (1/5): Bad -
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christos (5/5): Passable - Clean and close to city centre A bit moisy (next to traffic), to much light (no blinds) and relatively hot (no aircon)
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Bruce (7/5): Good -
- Joost (8/5): Great stay - Clean upgraded room Sound of traffic
- Denise (9/5): Unexpectedly good for the price - Large comfortable quit room with good air conditioning. Steep stairs and no elevator
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Conveniently located with paid car park nearby
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mervyn (7/5): Good for a one night stay - Location was good. Noise but it was expected
- Toma (10/5): Exceptional - An old house beautifully furnished.
- Jenny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Merilee (6/5): Wouldn’t stay here again. - Location, jacuzzi bath. Had to haul luggage up and down 3 flights of stairs. No outlet in bathroom, bed was hard and lumpy. Changed our room an hour before we got there and didn’t look for a newer email with new code when we arrived- so it was complicated and luckily a bar staff member was able to call and figure out why ours wasn’t working. Bring earplugs if staying in summer and need the window open all night because of no AC.
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nathalie (8/5): Perfect over night stay in the city center - Percent location, close to all city center facilities,
Easy check in process. Clean, comfortable rooms.
- Samson (1/5): Bad -
- John (7/5): Comfortable, good location but quite basic - Room was a good size and location next to Oxford Street was excellent Lugging suitcases upstairs, no lift. Not an easy task especially for anyone who has physical limations
- Robert (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tibbetts (6/5): Pleasant - We was not sent the key codes for access until 18.00 the day before a little late.
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Marrows (9/5): Superb -
- Rebecca (8/5): Very good -
- Steph (8/5): Very good - Loved the location, the room and self service style check in. No hassle. Outside traffic noise, nothing to do with the hotel, its part and parcel of being in a busy area.
- Iain (7/5): Good -
- Nigel (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and good value great location The room needs a black out blind or curtain as soon as the sun comes up the room is light and this can be as early as 5am
- Packer (10/5): Budget for your pocket, but not for your comfort! - I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this room, especially as on a budget. I did not expect complimentary products in the bathroom, and the shower was spacious. There was even a complimentary fan to use!
The bed was comfy. I thought this was exceptional value for money. I have no negative comments to make about my stay.
We were advised it could be noisy, but I found it pleasantly quiet!
- Abigail (7/5): Clean and comfortable room in a great location. - Room was nice and clean, comfortable bed and the fan was much appreciated. Great location too. Bathroom is very small and price a little high but would still stay again.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (8/5): On the whole good values for money, would recommend - Good location, very clean and good size room.value for money The bathroom was quite small and shower door did not close properly
- Amanda (8/5): Would stay again - Great communication - felt safe
- Rich (10/5): Exceptional -
- Teresa (8/5): Nice room but too dark for work. - Nice and clean room good quality. The small lamp on the desk is needed because the room is too dark and not comfortable for work. The information about self checking lost in so many emails from booking. Nice room 09 but from the noisy side
- Ashlie (1/5): Horrendous - Location was excellent for restaurant and bars. Perfect for southampton port for our cruise We had bed bugs so couldn't sleep there. Had no manned reception so couldn't get any help.
Totally ruined the start of our cruise . Hotel denying bed bugs as they had pest control in to check. Will not offer a refund.
- Sonya (7/5): Clean room and good location, but needs a more secure lock. - I liked the location, clean room, and bathroom. I would have liked a method to ensure my room could be locked from the inside, e.g. a deadbolt or secondary lock. As a solo female traveler, having just the keypad (someone could observe me entering the number and follow) did not make me feel secure.
- Pauline (8/5): Very good -
- Benjamin (1/5): Bad -
- Angela (3/5): Poor -
- Jeremy (8/5): Value for money - Good value for money No one to actually see or greet you but the process was okay
- Melissa (5/5): Clean, good location, cheap. I didn’t want to spend much time in the room - Excellent value for money, great location, clean. Easy check in with code. Room 3 was a small double, it felt a bit cramped, which is fine if you just want somewhere cheap to sleep. We stayed during a warm spell, a fan was provided and window opens but it was still very hot. The bed was a bit lumpy and the pillows uncomfortable. Not keen on decor. I didn’t sleep well but my husband did. However, it was good value for money.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Donna (8/5): Very good - location was great and room was clean and tidy
- Neil (2/5): stranger in my room, abused by hobo at the door, room small, hot, ghastly decor, noisy and smelly. - I cant even say leaving. when I left the property, I was verbally abused by a hobo at the front door. simply for walking past him. The access code didn't work, when I managed to speak to someone, it too a while to get a code to work. I was then directed to my room, and again the code didn't work. Once again, after some time, I gained access to the room to find someone already inside. I was then told that I would be phoned back to try and resolve the situation. I hung around teh halls until I was called back and a new room allocated - it was far smaller and somewhat psychedelic and nauseating in its decor. It was alos hotter than the sun in there. I opened a window to be blasted by the noise and smells of a kitchen fan directly outside the window. I had paid for a larger room, this was certainly not it.
- Karl (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (6/5): Value for money but could do better - Good price and location, access information was given in advance Broken window hinge, no plug in the sink and extractor fan didn’t work in the bathroom (room 11)
- Annabelle (5/5): Passable - Great location for ocean cruise terminal, fan provided, tea and coffee in the room. Radiator was stuck on, so the room was absolutely roasting when we arrived, this was on a hot day in May and we had to call the staff to turn off the heating to the building, the window was broken and difficult to open and hanging off it's hinges, there was litter in the room on arrival.
- Rodney (9/5): Superb - Clean ,great showers Location
- Anonymous (7/5): Good - Good location The bed
- Olav (10/5): Exceptional -
- Budd (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (9/5): Great second stay. - Having stayed here before we again were pleased with the cleanliness, location and easy system of entry.
Nice apartment that is near shops and restaurants and a short taxi ride from the cruise terminal
- Brian (8/5): Very good -
- Vicky (7/5): Except the curtains are too thin, everything is fine - Clean and romantic The curtains are too thin and can't block the sunlight. The sunlight shines into the room at 5am and can't sleep well
- Maggy (1/5): Bad - What breakfast???
The room facing the very bust road , very noisy, including the loud music from the pub
- Laura (6/5): Pleasant - Beds are comfy, the room is clean, fairly simple using the self check in, good location. Room was very small and looked nothing like the pictures, the shower was abit rubbish,
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Clean apartments in a great location.
- Richard (8/5): Recommended! - Location - clean - simple everything you need Balcony door doesn’t seem to close properly (needs handle)
- Sam (6/5): Pleasant -
- Azriel (7/5): A very clean and cute room, close to restaurants, shopping, cruise port etc. However I do not recommend this hotel for s - The room was very clean, had an historic vibe, cute furnishings and a very comfortable bed. Very close to restaurants and a short walk to the main shopping area. Staff were quick to response on WhatsApp. If you do not have phone service then the self check could potentially be a problem as it’s the only way to access the entrance & room. As a solo female traveller I did not feel very safe here as there is no onsite staff and I was approached by other male guests and it made me very uncomfortable. I did not sleep well for this reason.
- David (5/5): It’s ok for one night. Noisy location so be aware. - Location is ok, close to city centre and cruise ports. Didn’t see any staff but were contactable when we couldn’t get in to our room. Room of reasonable size and bed was comfy. It is noisy and through till the early hours. Stairs are narrow, no lift, so lugging suitcases up and down was challenging. Bit pricey we thought but ok for one night.
- Anonymous (2/5): terrible feeling with incorrect room code, which blocked me over two hours outside - position is good, very clean.
And easy to be found. The stuff sent me WRONG room code which can NOT open the door, blocked me over 2 hours!
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant - We received no information about room no. code to enter door or roomdoor.
A Rumainian guesst så ud outside the entrance door and he help us getting in contact with the help telephone number and thus we got all the information.
Also the entrance lock to the room was very very difficult to "wake up" by holding your hand over the keypad. I tried the room next door and that one was very easy to wake up. You should hav a look at the keypad on our room no. 4.
- Margaret (8/5): Loved the room and location on negative was the narrow stairs , difficult to get cases up and down - Loved the location, Room clean and comfortable The stairs to the room were very narrow and steep. We were there for a cruise next day and was extremely difficult to get cases up and down stairs
- Richard (6/5): Pleasant - location keycode faulty
- Terry (6/5): Comfortable and good location - Got upgraded to a king room which was lovely. Bathroom was very small and the water pressure for the shower was terrible. My daughter and partner had another room and had a lot trouble with the pass codes to get into their room. There was also power cut (not the owners fault I know) but returning to the room after a night out we wasn’t expecting to use our phones to see anything ☹️ No refund was offered.
- Dan (9/5): If all you need is a room with a comfortable bed, you can't go wrong here - Super comfortable bed, clean room, easy to access. Good communication from venue before and after stay. Good access to centre of town. Given the price paid, our stay definitely exceeded our expectations and we'd be happy to come back. Forgot to leave towels in the room - only a minor annoyance
- Philip (8/5): Very good - Room was very clean and tidy
The bed was comfy The TV did not work.
Probably needs new batteries in the remote
Not enough milk for tea/coffee.
- Kerry (9/5): Superb - Proximity for cruise embankment. Nothing
- L (8/5): Very good -
- Ehigie (5/5): I wasn’t email my room number and door code, so I couldn’t get into the room. Please I want a refund - I wasn’t email my room number and door code, so I couldn’t get into the room. Please I want a refund. Thank you. I wasn’t email my room number and door code, so I couldn’t get into the room. Please I want a refund. Thank you.
- Mark_g. (6/5): Adequate - Accommodation was close to a car park & local bars & restaurants.
The room had everything that was needed.
It suited our stay but I'm not sure I would recommend it. Fire alarm went off whilst we were in the room late at night, and the member of staff on duty clearly didn't know what to do about it, which is a major health & safety issue.
The curtains were thin, so as soon as the sun came up, the room was bathed in light.
Lots of road/traffic noise from outside as the windows aren't double glazed.
Fire doors are not up to the required standard.
- Katey (8/5): Very good - Lovely place to stay although a bit of a struggle up and down stairs with luggage but we were informed before hand That it was very warm couldn't open a window for some air but still had a good sleep
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- Russell (7/5): Decent place - location, bed and pillows lovely lots of stairs which are difficult with heavy cases
- Mo (8/5): Very good -
- Sian (8/5): Great stay! Would recommend and will stay again. - Great location, easy to check in. Comfy bed! Walking distance to everything. The corridors are narrow due to age of building and lugging a suitcase up the stairs on a hot day and then not being able to open the window in my room was not ideal but not a deal breaker!!!
- Cameron (8/5): Excellent helpful staff and cheap - Location to port cheap Nothing
- Kayleigh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Xhudi (7/5): Good -
- Ron (8/5): Nice Weekend in Southampton - Very well positoned for all that Southampton has to offer Codes given for some rooms where incorrct , rescued by the team in the pub below
- Huizhe (5/5): Passable - The service attitude is very good, and they have been patiently answering questions. The soundproofing is very poor, and it is very noisy. It's very cold.
- Harding (9/5): Superb - Close to cruise port Nothing to dislike
