Guest Reviews
- Scott (8/5): - Property was adequate. Metmy needs for the price
- Mary (10/5): - We stay here a lot as they co tinue to give great customer service. We like the quiet location.
- Lori (8/5): - Free laundry.
- Michael (2/5): - Will not stay ever again. Dirty. Elevator door sticks.
Felt very unsafe.
- Richard (8/5): - Everything was great with the exception of room, it looked pretty old. Tile in the bathroom was falling off and they gave us the handicap room.
It was quiet & very clean. Staff was helpful and courteous. Breakfast included was a plus.
- babar (4/5): - Absenty staff
Dirty room carpet was all stained and chewing gum on floor
Room was average clean
Room furniture was crack and scratched
- Jessica (10/5): - I always enjoy staying here. Location is close to everything, pool area great for kids and I love how all the rooms have a kitchen area.
- Mary (10/5): - This hotel is attached to another hotel and on the slow day. The other hotel takes care of it so you have to check in at the other hotel Comfort Inn. It also shares the pool and dinning area with this hotel.
- Charity (6/5): - Old candy left on the floor of our room. It was nice but definitely needs a upgrade with furniture. Disappointed that there were no towels available after the kids finished swimming because there were none clean. My sister in law was able to receive one towel and we had 6 people swimming.
- Chris (2/5): Stay Away from Here - Nastiest place I have stayed in 30+ years. There were still dirty dishes in the suite, linens were dirty, chairs and furniture were completely worn out. No towels at the pool ever, hot tub was disgusting. Staff was rude. No toiletries in the suite at all.
- Rebecca (10/5): - My kids and I loved the waterslides!
- Tamy (6/5): Disappointed - It was ok never stayed here before but there was no paper towels in our kitchen couch in our room was so worn out .. bed was uncomfortable.. don’t know if I’d recommend to a friend or family member.. kinda disappointed for the price you charge theses days!!
- Gisele (4/5): Overall not impressed - The toilet and sink in the bathroom was dirty when we arrived. The heater/ air conditioner mal function over night and we all woke up overheaded at 4am the room temperature was 80°F. The pool area temperature felt like 55°F and the hot tub heater was broke.
- Rhiannon (10/5): - Excellent pool and friendly staff. Clean room!
- Josh (2/5): - Room had a funny smell there where crackers on the floor still tv didnt work
- kelly (10/5): - The pool area was nice except the hot tub wasn’t working- it was on but temperature was cold. Staff was very friendly upon check in.
- Amber (4/5): - Upon check-in, our bathroom had dirty towels hanging with snot and blood smeared on them. The countertops didn’t appear like they were wiped down.
- Cherelle (8/5): - Very clean. Wonderful location. Could use some updated appliances like washer, dryer and toilet seat. But overall very nice stay and I would stay again.
- Valerie (10/5): - The hot tub wasn’t in service and I heard that’s been the case for a month. It was the main reason we booked at this hotel. That was a disappointment. There were no towels in the pool area, either; though the front desk attendant was quite helpful and gave us some.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Home away from home in Bismarck - Very nice place to stay very quiet inside and away from freeway noise. Cental to all shopping. Very helpful & friendly staff. I really appreciated the quietness of the refrig & heater in the room !! Mattress could stand to have a comfort topper. But otherwise no other complaints.
- Brandon (4/5): Never again for this hotel - The pictures of the hotel didn’t make sense when we got our room was a non smoking room and it smelt of cigarette smoke. It was an add on to a different hotel so didn’t offer complementary breakfast and the pool was in a different hotel they shared.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Took my money slept in a cold ass vehicle - I booked a room for the wrong day and I tried to change it I talked with hotel.com representative and they stated they would speak to you on the matter and they even tried to change the date for that night and stated they would contact your representative to help me with changing the date because when I booked it it was supposed to be for the the sixth leaving the seventh of this month 2024 so we ended up sleeping in my vehicle thanks to you and to make matters worse there was no staff available or at the front desk I hollered hello but to no avail
- Cesar (2/5): - They broke into my truck and there were no cameras around never staying at this place again and restroom was soo dirty
- Barbara (8/5): - The pool has great slides, but the water is really too cold!
The rooms cabinets and doors needed to be wiped down better and the furniture is in need of an upgrade, desk chairs are worn, table chairs are dirty.
- Deana (2/5): Disgusting and awful - The cleanliness of this room was awful.. worst I’ve ever seen. Mold in the shower, mirrors had fingerprints, chairs were broken and stained, floors had a sticky sauce on them, refrigerator had some leftover food still in it, comforter had a stain, AC was broken. Front desk attendant had her boyfriend there that was pacing around like he was on something. Made me very uncomfortable. If I didn’t prepay for this room, I would have demanded a refund. 100% would never recommend. $130 for a room I was afraid to touch anything is ridiculous!!!
- Amanda (2/5): - Pool was down the first night then there was a an issue across the hall it took almost 2 hrs of listening to people yell to get someone to make them stop at 4 am No trash cans in room
- Belinda (4/5): - I was charged for another night, No one worked in the front desk, i would not recommend this place at all.
- Naaman (10/5): - Stay was pleasant
- TJ (10/5): - Room were spacious. Water park was convenient kid friendly.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cold room - My hotel room was cold. No heat coming out of heat register. Called to report the problem. Was told maintenance would come to my room but no one showed up. I had to go request another room because it was too cold in my room. Moved to another room at midnight due to no heat.
- Joseph (10/5): - Great place but now you only get four pool wristbands per room I told the guy my Grandkids were coming to visit but he didn’t seem to care so next time I come to town I’ll have to try another place.
- Ivan (4/5): What i can do about it?? - I had reserved a room for a very good friend of mine and she was unable to check in because she needed my actual physical card for them swipe at the front desk, and unfortunately i wasnt in town to do so. I reserved it in good thoughts of helping my very good friend of mine out because she lives out of town and i live in Bismarck so the room was not checked into and it was a nonrefundable room and i didnt pay the extra fee for insurance on the room its just frusturated about it
- Crystal (8/5): - This is usually our go to when coming to Bismarck - love the water slides for our kid - love the full fridge and spacious rooms
- Amber (4/5): - I liked the friendly check- in staff. She was very polite and helpful when we checked in around 9pm- even when my card did not work, and she reactivated them with a smile.
What I did NOT like that room service called me right when I got in, offered room service food promotion,
then called back to cancel the order due to kitchen issues- I had cranky kids. I did NOT like when after showering,I pulled back the sheets at 11pm to see blood spots (not stains- they were not washed brown) on the sheets of one queen bed, and body hair on the other bed in multiple places. I did NOT like the bathroom door had bandaids with names sharpied on them on the top of the door- his an hers- I did NOT like no one answered room service call and I had to ask a maintenance worker who happened to walk by for some sheets to change the bedding myself, since my kids were tired and cranky and needed rest. I will not be staying here again- this is literally the first negative review I've left a hotel.
- Joseph (10/5): - Very nice hotel with kitchenette
- Steven (6/5): - Was given a room that was already occupied. When we went back to desk,we couldn't find front desk staff. She was outside in the parking lot. Not impressed.
- Cynthia (8/5): - No breakfast in our bldg
- DENNIS (4/5): - Bathroom had dirty toilet & sink.
Long hairs were on the bathroom floor. Coffee maker had used coffee pouch in it. The microwave was VERY dirty.
It really made me wander if the bed sheets had actually been changed!!!
- Jake (2/5): - I had booked reservations through Expedia. When arrived (mind you this was 7:30 p.m) we were in line for 50 minutes, we second in line. We were told that our room was not cleaned and wasn’t going to be. I kindly asked to talk to the manager and she wouldn’t. Said well then you need to give me a refund! It has been a week and I can’t get a response from the hotel or Expedia!!
- Mandi (2/5): - The lady working at the front desk was awesome. The pool are and hot tub were beyond disgusting and should not uave been open in that state. My card has been charged 4 times the amount of room. 4 days in a row and i still cant get a manager to fix it. Asked to speak to owner and was told no. A housekeeper was arrested in front of my kids and i for meth use on the premises. We had to clean the bathroom on arrival. Not awesome at all. All this stress on Christmas and we cant even get a manager to fix anything
- Home (6/5): Very disappointed - There were no towels for the kids to swim. The vent on the ceiling in the bathroom was disgusting. There were no cups in the room. This was a suite and there was one spoon and one fork in the drawer. There were no cups to drink from. There were 2 decaf coffees to make, no regular. The breakfast was aweful. When we got there, there was still an hour left and there were 4 dried out muffins left, no coffee, the juice was water. The elevators were not clean at all. The TV in our room for that size was pretty small.
- Carolyn (6/5): - Floor had not been washed and coverlet on bed was dirty. Didn’t have clean wash clothes one morning. Room was quiet so easy to get to sleep.
- Tracy (4/5): - Fun pool area for kids. Place needs to replace worn out furniture, vents filthy, bathroom tubs need new caulking. Paid way to much for the state this hotel is in.
- Shirley (6/5): - They did not have my reserved room for me and wound up putting me in a room for handicapped. The full kitchen was sparsely equipped. Just enough for one person which was fine for me but I would have needed more silverware if I had a companion. This hotel is connected to the Comfort Inn with an internal hallway and the breakfasts were served there. This was not told at sign in. Had to go over to the Comfort Inn to print something out..the business center was not open at MainStay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable!
- Carol (8/5): - Staff was very friendly and went out of their way to assist us.
- James (8/5): - It was clean and well taken care of but the breakfast offering was sub par.
- Yvette (8/5): okay stay... - there was a pool towel in the elevator no one picked up and our view was of the back of a building. the bed was uncomfortable and two light bulbs in the bathroom were out
- Brenda (2/5): - This hotel has a broken fire alarm system that blared off & on all night so I got very little sleep. Furthermore, it's been broken according to the staff for a week. I am incensed that they took my booking knowing I would not be able to sleep through the blaring alarm. Terrible experience.
- Brandy (6/5): - The staff is wonderful! Very nice and always available if you need anything. The hotel itself is older. The rooms have an old smell. Mold in the shower tiles. Multiple light bulbs burnt out. Only had 2 forks and 1 spoon in our kitchen in a room that sleeps 4 people. The parking lot was packed but thankfully it's a quiet place to sleep.
- Shaina (8/5): Nice room and water park! Bad breakfast! - Very fun water park however the yellow slide needs to be repaired as it is painful to slide down with all the cracks! Beds were very comfy. Tv remote wasn’t working to get any channels in but CNN and there was no dishwasher detergent for the dishwasher in the room or any dish soap. The breakfast room was overcrowded as there is only one waffle maker for all 4 floors of hotel guests and we could only make it to one side of the room which had 3 bland choices of cereal. I would recommend getting a better breakfast setup including better cereal options for kids and at least 3 more waffle makers.
- David (10/5): - Great desk clerk/very helpful
- Patricia (8/5): - Having a suite was great - use of real cups instead of plastic or cardboard was a plus. I did have an issue with the shower curtain which I didn't realize was not waterproof so I flooded the bathroom floor. Bed was comfortable. Very difficult to use the tv - I was only trying to get local news and could never get the channels. That was annoying as I wanted to watch the weather.
- mylene (6/5): - Too noisy, we can hear everyone...
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing - Main Stay is really going down hill. I used to love staying here but lately things look worn, no one really cares about quality of service. When we got into our room, I noticed it wasn’t really clean. The bathroom looked like it was done in a hurry. Even the lights in the bathroom. It’s a 3 bulb light and two bulbs were burned out. No effort to try and change the bulbs? Something simple as that is telling me they don’t care.
- Monique (10/5): - Everything is great. The only upgrade should be the breakfast options.
- Jason (10/5): Good time!!!! - It all started great with amazing service at the front desk. It was New Years Eve and she was so chipper and willing to help. Then get to out room and it was amazing as well very clean. We went swimming and pool area was very clean and busy. Only thing not great was that they ran out of towels for pool area. Asked and was told maids left and didnt wash and dry them all.
- James (10/5): - Great stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): Worn - I always liked staying here but I am starting to notice it is wearing down. In our room, the carpet was coming apart. Furniture outdated. Sad.
- TAMMY (10/5): - Everything was great.
- Kevin (10/5): - Chester Driving through nice place to stay. Enjoy the pool and the slide.
- Cynthia (10/5): - Everything was wonderful, as it always is.
- Christopher (10/5): - Newer. Clean. Comfortable. They have laundry and a way better than average breakfast for guests.
- Jill (4/5): - I booked a king suite, but was give a queen suite which the hotel stated was what Expedia had said. I showed my reservation. 3 hours later, one happened to become available, but the fault was with Expedia booking.
- Lynette (10/5): - excellent
- Eugene F (10/5): - Excellent location in city close to restaurants and shopping
- Robert (10/5): - Got two free drink tickets!
- Michelle (6/5): Ok but this place needs to be updated and cleaned - The pool area was dirty and the carpet in our room was both dirty and needs to be replaces
- James (10/5): - Extremely and helpful staff! Made me feel like they wanted me there! Even the cleaning staff was pleasant and they have the WORST job! Have already told a lot of people about this stay! Mainstay Bismarck Rocks!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Do it again. - We would do it again! Great stay!
- Justin (10/5): - Awesome people awesome hotel
- Alesia (10/5): Great Stay - We enjoyed our stay! The room was very clean. Employees were very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I went with my two granddaughters in order to use the Water park. We had the best time. The only thing I could say was there we no towels in the pool area in the morning before check out. The breakfast was awesome. Lots of choices and hot. Would book again!!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Could have been cleaner - Friendly staff. It wasn’t the cleanest. Seemed as though the floor wasn’t vacuumed and it smelled like an old house. Breakfast was good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The pool area was great! My kids loved it! Our remote did not work and they were short staffed the day we arrived and I talked to someone about it and said it was urgent, but would like to be able to watch the tv at some point. They never did get it fixed, the phones in our room didn’t work either so I could call down to the front desk unless I used my personal phone. I pulled the extra blanket out of the drawer to let my daughter use it to sleep on the couch, but it had a big blob of probably syrup on it and was definitely not clean and again couldn’t call down to the office and didn’t want to leave my young kids up there while I went down to the front desk.
The room was spacious though and the one night we were there was ok, just some frustrating moments.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, friendly staff, room is spacious
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean spacious rooms that were reasonably priced. I like the Marketplace area where you buys some snacks too.
- Craig (10/5): Class Reunion trip - Quiet, comfortable room. Pillows were small but there were enough to combine. First floor room was surprisingly quiet. We would definitely consider using this hotel in the future.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Spacious room, big water park, great breakfest
- Linda (6/5): No walk in shower as pictured - Stayed because the suite showed a walk in shower which I wanted for my elderly mother. It was a tub shower. The toiletries were cheap bare minimal. Disappointed with this stay. Usually enjoy MainStay. The breakfast was better than expected.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We always enjoy staying at mainstay suites.
- Maureen (10/5): Great place to stay - Great location just off I 94 and close to the capitol building and downtown. Gods breakfast. Spacious room. Quiet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great free hot breakfast, spacious rooms, clean and quiet, friendly staff. Will stay again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice for the price!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property was in a residential neighborhood, which made it seem like we were not in right place .. but it was perfect, very quiet .. staff good ..breakfast w/yogurt & fruit lovely ..
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Breakfast was good. Swimming pools and slides were enjoyed by great grandchildren. Staff very friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Partying neighbors until 3:30 could not sleep well. Otherwise it was nice
- Gilbert (10/5): Family friendly retreat - During an extended family emergency the hotel provided the perfect family retreat location. The owner and staff were friendly accommodating. The hotel is a great combination of family environment, great facilities, and access to diversion with water park and hot tub.
- Bridget (10/5): Nice hotel - Nice staff. Room very clean. They even let me check in early. Front desk staff very friendly. I will be back.
- Aleta (6/5): Mistake at check in - After a 12 hour drive, they gave us a rooom that was already occupied by another customer. Had to go back to the office and get a different room. It all worked out good, just a long process.
Got to our room, and the bathroom had used bar soap and shampoo in the shower.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great breakfast, kids enjoyed waterpark. Room was good size but the bed, chair and couch were very uncomfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room is clean and kids enjoyed the pool.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The pillows needed to be replaced
They were about half the normal size
- Verified traveler (2/5): - staff was nice and helpfull the toom was we) kept and pretty nice. the pool area is nice !! the problem is how many people they allow in the pool area. seems like there were so many birthday parties so pool was crowded, hot tub had more kids in it then adults, parents were drunk or high on drugs, it was jusy too dangerous for my kids. i left and went back to the room with my kids. my fri3nd left and went home and didnt stay in her room she just left.
- Kasey (8/5): Nice family getaway - This was a nice little weekend getaway with our kids (ages 2 and 5). Pool and slides were perfect for them, eating places nearby, room size was good. We would definitely stay again.
- Jodene (10/5): - The room was great. My son loved the pool.
- Marianne (8/5): Family Christmas get riveter - Got 3 rooms for a family get together. Pool area was nice. Good breakfast. Didn’t hear any complaints from any of the rooms. Would use again!
- Amanda (8/5): Masks and compacting - There was No masks being worn in public areas no one cared and drunks in the pool. It was not a super good experience for my family and I. The lady at the comfort suites attached to the mainstays never had a mask and no people in the pool area as well was disappointing
- Lainey (6/5): Meh - We LOVED the waterslides! We stayed mid-week and had them to to ourselves for over an hour. The rest of the hotel and the service was just meh. No one was at the front desk when we arrived to check in and then she kind of made us feel like a burden when she did arrive.
