Guest Reviews
- myoch (8/5): Descent night sleep for a descent price. - Was in town overnight for work. Needed a descent hotel for a descent price and that's what I got. I would stay here again for work if needed. Property seemed to have a lot of contractors/workers stay here, probably due to price, but it's a property worth considering if ever in town for an overnight stay.
- aschmidt2025 (10/5): Great stay. - Great hotel with a good breakfast. Excellent value for the price paid! Friendly staff. Not a lot of extra amenities, but, we didn't need them and didn't want to pay extra for something we did not need. We will stay there again!
- Brenda (8/5): - .
- David (8/5): - Good place tp stay and the breakfast was pretty good
- billhordy (10/5): Ashfall visit - Roadway Norfolk spent 3 nights. Lobby area clean not much just a couple of chairs. Checking in was easy friendly welcome. Room with queen bed comfortable, clean. Shower plenty of hot water ample supplies. Everything worked well.
Breakfast was good basic items eggs, waffles, cereal and beverages.
Staff friendly and you can tell they were all local folks. For a budget friendly hotel well worth it good stay.

- zephyrt (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE !!! - DO NOT STAY HERE!!
DO NOT WALK - RUN! AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY AND ITS MGR!! After I cancelled my reservation, they pre-authed my cc without my permission or signature for $332 tying up my money for 3 days, putting me on the street. Refused to fix it. I am filing lawsuit and launching a social media campaign to close their door. Although I cancelled THIS stay I HAVE stayed here - filthy dark dismal - sketchy customers. ANYPLACE IN NORFOLK NE IS BETTER THAN THIS!!!!!
I will not stop until the door is shut and the lights are out for good. IF YOU HAD A BAD STAY HERE PLEASE SCREAM IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS!!
- pattiw852 (10/5): Fantastic! - This is a great place to stay! Everyone was so helpful! The bed was super comfortable! I will recommend staying here to everyone I know! Breakfast coffee was superb! Smelled fresh and clean! If all the people in Norfolk are as nice as the staff are at this motel, Norfolk Nebraska is a superior place to live.
- 184tjl (2/5): I don’t even know where to start - First off the pictures they advertised isn’t what my bath room or my room looked like the capers is the same color but that’s about it. Secondly they advertise WiFi but it doesn’t work for my lab top of my PS4 counsel and barely works for my phone. Thirdly the again they advertise breakfest in the mornings but is not the case it’s oatmeal or and coffee or nothing at all. My biggest problem with these things isn’t that they don’t have but they advertise like it’s worth it well bottom line is don’t advertise thing to make people believe they are better than they really are because after this I will be sure that they never get my company’s business again. Telling have the truth is still a lie. I’m very disappointed in my stay here and I will definitely not be back in by tomorrow I will be checked out and moved to the holiday day inn next door.
- NebraskaTRC (6/5): Great on some things, Not so great on others - We stayed 3 nights at the Rodeway Inn in Norfolk, Nebraska.
What was great about it....Our bed was comfortable. The breakfast had a little change up each morning. What was not stained, was clean. Good price.
Not so great...I had made reservations online for a room with one bed. There was no choice for smoking and non-smoking, I didn't even think about it since so many hotels are completely non-smoking these days. When we arrived, we were given our key cards and went up to the room. Holy smokes!!! It reeked of cigarette smoke! Fortunately, they had ONE non-smoking room left. The building itself needs updating and furniture needs replacement. Our sink was beginning to separate from the wall. Tiny TV.
- btcvsolo (10/5): Will ABSOLUTELY stay here again! - I have a project nearby and am in the area @ 4 times/month. I've stayed at a few local joints from the best ($$) in town to the "I'm reasonably sure a murder involving a waffle iron and frozen salmon has occurred in this room" hotels. I will now only stay at the Roadway. Now lemme tell ya why...
I'm one of those cats from the 60's/70's. I like my nicotine. The inhalation kind. My company allows me to stay at Hiltons, Marriotts, etc and I often do. But sometimes, I do NOT LIKE going outside for a ciggy. This is one of those times and this is one of those hotels.
The front desk peeps were efficient, friendly, and helpful. The room itself is clean, comfortable, and they must have replaced the bed recently because it didn't sink into the bowels of Narnia when I lied down on it. (That happens a lot in 'smoker friendly' hotels). Grocery store with deli and restaurant within walking distance.
All-in-all, I think you'll be pleased. I was....
- czech7985 (6/5): Clean and neat but dated, could use some upgrades - My husband and I stayed here one night, in preparation for joining a bus tour group. The entry is modern, clean and bright, staff friendly and professional. Our room smelled musty when we entered. the pillows were hard and the mattress in poor shape. My husband and I felt like we were being pulled or rolled to the middle. The electrical outlet in the bathroom section is so worn, the plug to my curling iron fell out! I did try to widen my curling iron prongs but that didn't help either. I ended up doing my hair in front of the mirror by the desk. Rooms are dated, need to be updated. They are clean and neat. Price is reasonable. the breakfast was good, many choices but fairly typical for this type of hotel.
- gg608 (6/5): Economical - Old interior that is maintained fairly well. Carpets and tub drains in rooms showing age. Chips in wood furniture. Small drawers in rooms. However, rooms were very clean. Breakfast area lighted well and clean. Variety of breakfast offerings. Staff was basically friendly. Didn’t like having smokers right outside the front door. Wide parking spots. Near (walking distances) overall shopping stores, large grocery store, restaurants, and bars.
- donnieb571 (10/5): Very nice for Rodeway - Rodeway tends to house the bottom of the Choice Hotels group, but this location exceeded expectations. The carpet was clean with no stains, the bedding was clean with no stains, the room was large, the refrigerator worked, the microwave worked, the bath area was clean. I literally can't complain about anything.
For those who stay late enough for breakfast, this location does offer a hot breakfast. It is in close proximity to a couple of decent restaurants (at least one of which gives a 15% discount if you show your room key).
The wifi is good, the alarm clock works... It hits all of my major points for a good room.
- Spot7878 (6/5): Decent stay, but not the best - Nice hotel in a great location. Nearby restaurants and lots of activities. Room was clean. Layout not the best, but adequate. Very nice to have refrigerator and microwave in room. Plenty of linens. Terrific breakfast - would give that a 5 star. Average rating due to inadequate HVAC. Very high humidity - AC unit appeared to be under-sized and either took the temperature down to 65 degrees or humidity was too high. Sleeping not comfortable, and clothes had "wet" feeling next morning. Mattresses not the best, and inadequate pillows. So over-all not a bad stay for the money, but not the best.
- TomS80910 (8/5): A fantastic place to stay! - My wife and I stayed here on the Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. We had come for my "Class of 1968 Neligh-Oakdale 50th Reunion".
We requested a smoking room and received it. The room was on the forth floor across a walk-way, with a view of the parking lot. For staying two weekend nights, everything was very quiet.
After driving from Concordia Kansas, we arrived just after noon. Not having been in Norfolk for over 50 years, I had no idea where to get lunch. The temperature was in the high 90s, so I stopped and asked if we could check in early and where a good place to eat was.
The clerk provided us with a 20% off coupon for "Big Red" across the parking lot. Also, the room was ready!
The room was large and had 2 new beds and was very clean. The bath area was large and very clean also. The air conditioning was quiet and worked very well. There were adequate outlets for our charges. In the room were coffee maker, micro-wave and refrigerator.
Breakfast selections were more than adequate.
The staff was very friendly and professional. If we get back in five years, we will definitely stay here again!
- camberne (8/5): Challenging at first, but they did right by us. - We stay here once or twice a year when we visit our grandkids. We like having the restaurant/bar next door that we can walk to, and the accommodations are usually good... until this visit. There was something wrong when we walked into our room. We've had this same room in the past with no problems, but this time it just smelled awful. You got used to it after about five minutes, but it was there haunting you again when you left and came in. We went to the front desk to inquire about changing rooms and were told that there were no other rooms available. Okay, we tried, we decided to stay. We met our family for a little dinner out at the Hy-Vee and when we came back to go to bed, the sheets were damp. That was it. We had to go back to the front desk. She had us look at another room that had not been cleaned. When I came back down, there was another guest checking out for the same reason we were complaining about.
My husband was back in our original room calling to check another hotel for availability, and I went back to the front desk and told her that we were going to be checking out and getting another hotel for the weekend. The front desk attendant, Kat, was brilliant. She handled everything in stride. When I got back to the desk, she told me that she spoke to the manager and they were going to upgrade us to a King Suite. Apparently, the smell/dampness is from the old air conditioning units (according to her) and that there have been several complaints on it. This upgraded room is on the central air system. So, I get my husband and we go look at this final room. It was lovely. It didn't smell and no damp sheets. Honestly, I could live in this suite. If you lived in NYC, this would be an apartment, perhaps larger. This suite is larger than my first apartment!
I commend Kat for going above and beyond to keep us where we wanted to be in the first place, and even more - they honored the price of the original room for both nights! There was a family reunion in town that had many of the rooms in the hotel.
Breakfast was traditional. Eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, biscuits one day, English muffins the next day. It's a good place to have your breakfast on Sundays, because a lot of places aren't open.
- RoadGuys2 (10/5): Everything is good. - We've stayed here a couple of times before and were pleased with each visit. Everything in the whole building is squeaky clean. Great beds and a hot breakfast with protein options . . . Not the standard carbonental offerings of other chain motels in this price range.
Even the staff here is 5 * . . . They had us Park our motorcycles under the Veranda because of an impending storm AND it's next to Big Red sports bar. What more can you ask for?
- 574MN_traveler (10/5): A return visit - We were in town for a family reunion, which we attend nearly every year. The check in was quick and efficient, and the desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. We were in a smoking room because the no-smoking rooms were all taken by the time I made our reservation, but the smoke was hardly noticeable and not a problem. The breakfast was more than enough for us. We were toward the end of the serving time, so some of the items were in the process of being replenished when we were there, but the selection had a good variety and the items we had were very good. The check out was as quick and efficient as the check in was. We will stay there on our next trip.
- sjebuffetfan (10/5): Great place to stay. Clean, Quiet and great price. - My first time at this hotel. I was very impressed. It looked new. Very Clean, great staff. Quiet. Good breakfast, eggs, sausage, ham, biscuits and gravy, fruit, cereal, and Danishes. Good cable too. I would stay again. Great Price
- rolandg461 (10/5): Postal Fleet - VERY nice ROOMS. Good hot breakfast, not just sweets. VERY congenial atmosphere. You get access to 24/7 Gym right beside motel. Anytime FITNESS. Has everything down to tanning bed.
Has stores, Wal-Mart, etc. and eateries within walking distance.
Front desk has list of all activities planned for the month in Norfolk, so you can plan your stay.
VERY NICE
- Trish1050 (8/5): Nice price - We travel to Norfolk to visit family 3 or 4 times a year. We prefer to stay in a motel rather than with relatives and we have chosen Rodeway for all our stays. It is clean and comfortable with accommodating and friendly staff. I do wish the owners would do a little renovating. The place is beginning to show its age. I have recommended this motel to others and will continue to do so.
- CocoHawk (4/5): It tries really, really hard - This is a property that has seen better days. The staff overall appeared to care, but the infrastructure/accommodations are very old, worn-out, dated. The non-smoking rooms had clearly had former lives as smoking rooms -- no way to totally eradicate that old smoke odor from curtains and carpet. Location was good for our purposes.
- Dakotagirl777 (10/5): This was a gem for the price - My parents have been in the nursing home in Norfolk so I have stayed in every single hotel but one in the last 7 years ...and frequently. I had not stayed at the Rodeway since it changed from the White House. The Hampton and Holiday Inn have gotten outrageously expensive for this size town. This hotel had friendly staff, clean rooms and an excellent breakfast. But most importantly I felt safe here. I often travel alone when I drive down. This is going to be my new "go to place". Why should I pay double or more for a hotel that I am not going to use the pool & doesn't have better service.
- WWJD2014 (10/5): Thanks Kay - Friendly greetings upon entering the door. Clean and inviting. Priced for the budget minded. Rooms spacious and comfy beds. Breakfast hot and delicious. Thanks for a great stay again. Will see you again next time in town. Keep up the high standards.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Traveling - We have stayed in a lot of motels and this is one of the best! No complaints on anything! Excellent on all categories!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean hotel, friendly staff - Great hotel, the cost was super reasonable. The hotel was clean, the staff was very friendly. The continental breakfast was good. A decent variety of food. The beds were on the soft side, but comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good experience
. - Pleasant facility, slept well, great employees. Great bed, nice ammenities.
- Todd (6/5): - Average motel at best.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We went to be near relatives and spent most of our time with them, so we did not spend much time at the hotel. We found everything to be satisfactory. The breakfast was tasty. Norfolk is easy to get around and the hotel was conveniently located.
- Matt (10/5): Great! - The staff was great. Easy check in and check out. Great value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had our pet with us. Area to walk pet was close by.
- Richard (10/5): - The hotel booked us in smoking rooms and said it was your fault. They did change the rooms to non-smoking. Breakfast was very good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Bien dans l'ensemble. - Bon accueil. Isolation des chambres trop faible par rapport à la route qui passe à côté.
Bon petit déjeuner.
- Lisa (8/5): Overnight stay - On our way to South Dakota. Was a nice place to stay. Breakfast was good and filling. Staff was friendly.
- Elizabeth (6/5): Ok for one night budget conscience minded travel - Ok for a one night stay. Front desk staff was very nice. Hotel is a good lower cost option for the area. Much better than the other lower cost hotels in the area
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location to divots concert center - It was perfect location for a concert we attended. We used out Expedia points so it only cost us $10. Staff was great and let us park our motorcycle under the entrance canopy as ther was chance of storms. Kept everything dry.
- Beth (8/5): Rodeway Norfolk NE - The staff was courteous and very helpful. The room was spacious and had all the amenities you could want. I would definitely stay there again.
- Connie (8/5): Long 4 state and Canada trip with grandaughter. - For the price it was one of the nicer hotels we stayed in.
Staff very helpful and friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - received 2 spider bites or some kind of bites overnight.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good Value - Good value for the price. Seemed to have the same type of amenities as the higher price hotels.
- Kevin (8/5): Pretty decent - As usual check in with expedia reservation was a breeze
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was OK, kind of pricey for what it had to offer and the age of it. Great staff and breakfast. Not crazy over the rooms or comfort of the beds. It needs some updating.
- Deb (8/5): Nice hotel - Enjoyed out stay at Road Way Inn. Day shift staff, very plesant. Would stay here again.
- Joe (8/5): clean - Nice clean motel with a good breakfast. Could use a larger TV and a little noisy, but overall a very nice place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Norfolk Stay - Hotel was clean, front desk was friendly, breakfast was ready at 6:00 am. with lots of choices, waffles, bagels, yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, cereal or oatmeal. Was a bargain compared to other properties in the area.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The heater temperature setting did not work, set all the way to 60 to stop it from continually heating the room. Finally had to shut it off, then of course it got cold. Bed was like sleeping on jello. No sleep, a waste of money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice lil spot! - Well, it wasn't me that stayed. I booked the trip for a co-worker. He called back saying that it was a really nice hotel and he was glad that I rented a room there for him. He was pleased overall with everything.
- Ron (8/5): College reunion - For the price ($70), this was a great deal. The location is close to so many things. The room was large, clean and had everything we needed. Will definitely stay here again and will definitely tell people.
- Brandy (4/5): Disappointing - Ice machine out of order, now washer/dryer facility, front desk employee was kind of rude.
- Brian (10/5): Great overnight stop. - Fairly new hotel in a nice area. Staff excellent. Well recommended!
- Rebecca (6/5): Good for the Price - The only drawback to our stay was that we were told by Expedia that they had a pool. My husband was having back trouble and we planned to stay in motels that had a pool. Other than that, we were very pleased with the experience.
- Al (8/5): Nice hotel for the price - Stayed over the weekend for a friends wedding. Hotel was booked but never heard noises in the hallway. Clean room, excellent staff from front desk to housekeeping.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Would go back - Saturday morning's hot breakfast was fairly "blah".
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good hotel and great price - This hotel was a basic hotel, but it was clean and a great price. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful
- Kevin (10/5): Good location, nice quiet rooms. - Had an enjoyable stay. Close to everything. staf was very friendly and helpful, definitely will be staying there again on my next trip to Norfolk!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Place to Stay - Every staff member we met were friendly, helpful, and curtious. Also, the free breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Weekend stay - For the money this hotel was ok but the pictures are deceiving and the rooms aren't as nice as they appear.
- Nicollieollie (10/5): This hotel was convenient. - This hotel was close in distance from where we were going to be that evening.
- Nicollieollie (10/5): This hotel was great. - It was my bachorelette party and needed a place close to the bar so we wouldn't have to drive home after our dd's went home. Stay was great and has smoking rooms.
- Lori (6/5): Nice economy hotel - Nice staff! Rooms small, writing in the elevator, breakfast was fine. Overall a nice economy choice but not a 5.
- Herbert (10/5): Excellent comfort and price - Deserves its good rating with Expedia.
Deserves its good rating with Expedia.
Deserves its good rating with Expedia.
- Julie (10/5): Great hotel at a great price! - This is a great hotel for the price. The breakfast is simple, but adequate and filling. Both hot and cold food choices available. The only issue we had was with the room. I booked a non-smkoking, but when we got there they put us in a smoking room. A trip to the front desk got us a non-smoking room and a discount for the inconvenience. The staff was very pleasant and quickly resolved the situation. The hotel and the room was clean and attractive looking. Will definately stay here again.
- Pat (6/5): Convenient location - The front desk staff is exceptional - very friendly, cheerful and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant - The Staff was very helpful and when I made an error of payment (to much money provided) they were very kind and give back amount that was given in error.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very good deal for the price. - The room was very clean and nicely equipped with a flat screen tv. It was very quiet and breakfast was very good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great - Staff very friendly and helpfull. Good breakfast. Good location. Close to shopping.
- David (8/5): Can we mention taxes? - You should be aware that the actual room cost will be increased by a State Tax ($3.30), City/County Tax ($0.90), Occupancy Tax ($3.00) and Other Tax ($2.70), raising the base cost of a room by about 17 percent. Financial demands of these small town governments means that more and more the traveler is treated as a revenue source. I do not know, or care, what the "Other Tax" is, but I will make an effort to avoid stopping in Norfolk in the future. Clean and decent enough room otherwise and in a convenient location. Seemed to be a number of dogs/owners milling about in the lobby. Wireless service unsecure, with a network name of Dachshund, but it worked well.
- Angie (10/5): Awesome Hot Breakfast and very nice staff - Very nice hotel staff, very clean hotel and clean room. It was very nice and quiet and the Breakfast was very good. It was hot and there was lots to choose from. Would definitely stay here again
- Rachel (10/5): Well Worth Your Money - This was one of the 2 cheapest hotels in Norfolk when I looked, so I was not sure what to expect when I got there. However, it was very clean, the front desk attendant was very friendly, and the rooms were a decent size. It seemed a lo newer than the other "cheap hotel" in town.
- Trisha (10/5): "Small Town Hero" - We arrived late, but as Expedia confirmed, we had a room waiting and warm. We had just driven thru winter conditions in NE. Our grandchildren were hoping for a pool, however, we were not. The location was about 5 min. from our grandchildren and next door to shopping. The staff were very friendly and everything from the room to the vending machines were great. Thank you for making our stay great. Breakfasts were great as well. We will be back, as often as we can visit our grandchildren. Thank you.
