Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): Seagull alarm clock and available menu - Room was comfortable however the seagulls kept us awake every morning from 5am walking on the roof (Room5)
There were a couple of examples where ingredients listed for food items on the menu were left out, proving to be a disappointment for some dishes. The gnocchi didn't have any chestnuts, The pancakes didn't have coconut yoghurt for example.
More vegetarian options would have been welcomed.
- Steve (10/5): Highly recommended - Staff very efficient, professional and friendly. Very knowledgeable and willing to help in anyway possible. Highly recommend the Anchoage.
- Heather (4/5): - Room was lovely - but kitchen staff below it were super noisy - lots of shouting. Feels under (experienced) staffed and unwelcoming.
- Bev (8/5): - The bedroom was very very dark. I did mention it to the gentleman but he seemed uninterested by my comments.
The tea/coffee tray was inside the wardrobe on a shelf. It was so dark in the room I had to use the light on my phone to get items. That's despite there being 3 small lamps scattered about and a floor lamp. There wasn't a main ceiling light. May be a light to come on as you open the wardrobe door.
It's a very very small room and there are 3 chairs and a table in it. Not necessary.
There was a good book of how to... and tips for the local area. The nesspresso machine was nice and there was a lovely Roberts radio so some luxurious items.
The bathroom was beautiful Stylish and bright. However there was not a bath so we had to use a hand towel. Nice toiletries and a wonderful shower.
- Patricia (8/5): overnight stay - Very comfortable stay, very clean and location excellent for the beach, and the staff were friendly & helpful
- Janet (8/5): - The Anchorage was lovely and the staff could not have been more helpful , kind and chatty. The decor is good, but the bedrooms lack light ,mirrors, shelf space and the heating is very noisy.
- robert (8/5): - All good, would use again. Very friendly staff.
- L (10/5): 10/10 Weekend Stay - Unexpectedly good. Really affordable and the food was outstanding!! Will definitely be returning soon! 10/10
- Roger (6/5): - The window in bedroom was fixed to only open marginally. Hopeless on a hot night.
- Dianne (4/5): - Room was very small was more suitable for a single person the room .Property on the whole very tired and sad. The whole property needed a complete deep clean very disappointed as Location is the best.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Picturesque - Lovely stay
- Margaret (10/5): Excellent - We went for an overnight get-away and were very pleased. Tomas on Reception greeted and told us where the room was. The room was compact but perfectly formed. The shower room (again compact) was spotless, however, the boarding behind the sink could do with a bit of attention but that's the only negative. There was a big, walk-in cupboard/wardrobe with hanging space, iron and ironing board. Plenty of room for luggage and even a pushchair. Starters and nibbles are on offer in the bar area, which we enjoyed for lunch and we were booked for dinner in the evening. Mark gave some recommendations which were amazing. Thank you. Tomas was back on duty at breakfast and the Eggs Benedict/Royale were spot on delicious. Extremely good service and fabulous food. We will be back.
- Craig (8/5): - Was great & the service was the best ever & while the building needs up dating it was very clean & tidy.
- Jose (8/5): Business - Rooms are small but that’s ok, mattress is way to hard and could do with being more middle of the road. Restaurant is top notch as is service
- Maggie (8/5): A not so bargain short break in a good location. - I found accessibility was a challenge. Toilets and bedrooms upstairs were difficult for me, as I have mobility issues. The room was clean and reasonably well presented but short voile curtains and basic soap, limited milk cartons, and a very low side chair made it all feel 3*. Good value for money for the room but we spent more eating than we expected to.
- Jill (10/5): Good room - This room was very practical and suited us well
- Julie (6/5): - Attending a wedding at Compton Acres so very convenient.
Less than 10 min walk to venue.
Breakfast not included so the cost can add up as coffee, tea, toast and juice are all extras in addition to the price of the breakfast!!! The first morning we were there, there was no orange juice, no kippers no butter for the toast either!
Refreshments in room very limited...Only 2 tea bags (and not replaced for second night either)
- John (10/5): A hidden gem - One of the best hotels there is; the staff are super lovely and it’s in a great location
- Adam (8/5): - Fairly basic room, but sufficient. The food was very good. Friendly staff.
- Stewart (6/5): Update needed - Room was clean but in desperate need of a refurb, loose fitting handles, shower temp almost impossible to change.
Noise from the restaurant is intrusive.
- Douglas (8/5): - Nice location friendly staff good service, food very good and sensibly priced
however the accommodation needs a bit of an upgrade in terms of electrical connections.
In todays age more communication is made from mobile .Hotel lacked charging and electrical points, people need to be aware so they can take adequate connections
- Lisa (6/5): - The rooms were small for the price, and the shower didn’t work well
- Catherine (10/5): - Lovely place. Comfortable. Clean. Fantastic staff.
- Gary (8/5): Great staff. Good food. - The staff were amazing. Helpful and very friendly
- garry (10/5): - Staff were really welcoming and the food was excellent
- Derek (10/5): - Room was cramped .
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value for money - The staff were very friendly and the service in the bar and restaurant was excellent with very good food. The room was very clean but small and tired. The car park is very small and can be very difficult to find a space when the restaurant is open
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff very attentive in restaurant , food is very good but it does have its issues….currently a building site next door which operates between 8-5 weekdays.
We found the beds to be extremely firm which wasn’t to are liking & we stayed for 2 nights but bed was not made after first night so to sum up our stay would go there again to eat but wouldn’t book a stay.
- David (4/5): Not a good stay - We had a view of a building site and workmen shouting and swearing at 8am. Could not turn down the heat on the shower so I couldn’t get a shower in the morning, told the staff at reception but he just said “oh thanks for letting us know” . Sadly disappointed with the hotel.
- Barbara (4/5): Loch Fyne Canford Cliffs - Checkin and staff were excellent all through especially Radek, always friendly helpful and smiling. Location superb and easy walk to the beach. However, the room at the front was very disappointing. Major Road noise from 6AM, pipe squeaking noises constantly from 7am when others use their bathrooms. We asked to move, however the back apparently had a building site next to it. Sadly not conducive to a restful few days away we had planned.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Rooms are quite small of which there are only 8 in total, so it is a small hotel.
Breakfast was excellent.
Short walk (10-15 mins) to the beach.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Hotel was lovely, the Staff friendly and helpful ,and the location was great .
The only downside was booking through Expedia the site advised breakfast was included in the price , and it wasn't .
I will book direct next time or use a different site .
- Julie (4/5): Beware building site next door! - We checked in and were asked to pay for our booked three nights upfront but then were told about the building works! A block of new flats was being built metres away from the hotel. It was all we could see from our room window and very noisy. Couldn’t stay in the end so given a refund.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good walks, food and service. - Very small room but it was only for one night. Building going on outside. We had a family meal, including a 3 year old who thoroughly enjoyed watching the chefs through the glass. Meal was very good. staff were friendly and very aware of current covid situation. Light airy dining room.
Beautiful walks minutes away.
- zoe (10/5): Hotel stay - All round very good. Clean, comfortable and welcoming staff. No complaints at all.
- John (10/5): A wonderful place to stay - In my view the best hotel in the whole Bournemouth/ sandbanks area
The restaurant is totally wonderful and the staff especially Mark are brilliant
- Chris (8/5): One night stay - A pleasant stay, had evening meal at hotel which was very nice.
- Jarnail (10/5): Lobster and beer ! - Amazing service. We bought our little one, hotel very understanding and accommodated, kind, understanding, always smiling and on hand to provide an apex service, thank you to team loch fin Poole...
- Richard (2/5): - This hotel is terrible if it was 100% better than it is I would still only give it 1 star. The furniture,Ihave thrown better on the tip. The lock on the entrance door has been broken, and looks lik it has been repaired by a 9yeas old.t he shower is filthy and looks like it's rotting.I could go on but the whole place is so bad I think it contravenes every health and safety rule in the book
- Gary&Sue (10/5): - Staff great small rooms ok for 1 night though ideal for visiting Sandbanks
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was very small and the bathroom needed a lick of paint. We were unable to charge any extras to the room. On check in I was not allowed to pay for the room on Amex card yet this was accepted in the restaurant for dinner. Finally the breakfast was only barely warm.
- paul (8/5): - Good location, good food, but rooms are small
- Julie (10/5): - Comfortable and clean. Staff excellent. Ate in the restaurant, felt 100% safe. Bus stop right outside the hotel if you don’t fancy the short walk to the beach.
- Tim (4/5): ot the best stay - Poor welcome, room had no towels, toiletries in dirty containers and no coffee provided only tea & sugar. Poor service at breakfast. Didn’t have a record of our evening meal booking. 1st night couldn’t book a table but had several available at the time we had requested. No internet available in rooms although advertised on website. Only one device could connect in the restaurant.
Overcharged our evening meal. Not that impressed really. Extensive building work to the rear of building which probably take a year or so to complete, didn’t effect us until 8am on day of departure due to bank holiday weekend! Great location, close to the beach
- Inga (10/5): - Friendly staff, tasty food
Great service!
- Gita (10/5): - We arrived early, the gentleman behind the checkin desk was fairly abrupt. We decided to come back. A lady called Christina, checked us in who was extremely polite and efficient. Christina was helpful throughout our stay! Thank you so much for making our stay more pleasurable and comfortable. Inspite of the rooms being fairly small, they were comfortable and extremely clean! Will certainly come back!
- Julia (10/5): - Excellent breakfast and good location for the beach.Rooms clean and tidy looking forward to coming back again soon .
- brendan (10/5): ice stay good food - Nice food good service rooms warm but they provided a fan the only issue was when we had a shower the water stopped, the manager did apologise as they had engineers in the week previous and they said all issues were sorted with, but next morning no issue shower was ok I think due to other guests had gone but a nice restaurant and friendly staff no other issues would go back no problem
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic, good area. - Hot water was patchy depending if others were showering. Can be noisy, is on a junction, no air con just a fan so need windows open if hot. Breakfast is nice but otherwise staff not interested. Zero extras tissues etc. Basic but good area.
- Graham (2/5): Shoddy and tied, not a place for leisure. - Took one look at room offered and went back down to reception for a change of room, alternative not much better! Asked for refund of payment and left. What have these places been doing during lock down? Not maintenance that's for sure.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely clean room and were able to check in early, which was a bonus and breakfast was super!! Ideal location to stay for us as we were attending a wedding at the local Compton Acres.
- Rebecca (8/5): I wouldn't rush back - Fantastic location and staff are very good. The hotel is bit of a let down as the room could do with updating and beds are very uncomfortable. On saying that, I didn't pay a huge amount of money to stay here so I can't really complain
- Pete (8/5): - This is not really a hotel more some rooms above the restaurant. The staff were lovely and are very helpful.
- jitender (10/5): Great stay - Great location, friendly staff, fantastic food and atmosphere... Thomas service was excellent
- David (6/5): - Nice enough room, convenient location for Compton Acres.
Good breakfast.
- Richard (8/5): Like it here ! - Nice feel to the place. Decor has held up well. Staff are very pleasant.
Food is typically Loch Fyne. Only issue for me was the bed was very hard - my colleague felt the same.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent food and service, the room was clean and bed comfortable. Shower was strong
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great quiet room unless the taps are being run but not a big deal for us.
Lovely fresh new towels and yummy biscuits and bottled water along with tea and coffees.
- Keith (10/5): - Very pleasant stay
- Anne (8/5): A good base for exploring the area. - Room was very small, only slightly bigger than a double bed. It was clean with attractive decor.. no WiFi in bedroom. Breakfast was excellent as was the service. We ate dinner in the restaurant on one of the evenings and it was delicious. Our waiter could not have been more helpful. Hotel is only a short walk to the beach which was lovely. We also visited Brownsea Island, another fab day easily reached from the hotel.
- Samantha (8/5): - Buisness stay. Room was quiet small but adequate. Plumbing is noisy and woke us both up in the early hours.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very comfortable stay with excellent breakfast - Nice place to stay, comfortable room and excellent breakfast
- Brian (8/5): Great value! - Good service. You get what you pay for. A comfortable room with tv, tea & coffee making and the bathroom was functional clean but a bit data, soon to be need of updating. Overall the good and not so good reflects the price. An excellent breakfast and would recommend the hotel in preference to others in the area that are so overpriced.
- Jan (8/5): Compact and bijou but enjoyable. - Fantastic situation for access to surrounding area. All the staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. The restaurant is not to be missed, amazing fresh fish and seafood. Breakfast is cooked to order so very nice (yoghurt &fresh fruit would have been nice). Accommodation was adequate, very clean but very compact. En-suite was extremely basic. That said it was a great deal in an expensive area. Would definitely visit again.
- Loraine (10/5): Great value, great location - Spent a week here (we go every May) it’s such a great location & it is a very reasonably priced basic no frills accommodation: clean rooms, a good strong shower, friendly staff & a great restaurant.
- Abbey (4/5): Too much noise but functional - The room itself is small but functional and it was reasonably clean on arrival. However, they never changed the towels in the 3 nights that we stayed.
We went on a hot Easter weekend and there’s no air conditioning. The only option was to open the window. The down side of that was all the noise from the main road as well as all the dining guests from downstairs. Even when most the dining guests have left, you still hear the staff making a racket.
It seems like the focus was on the restaurant only. The hotel rooms were just a side gig.
- marcia (10/5): Wonderful - It was a very comfortable stay and pleasant staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The bedroom was small but adequate. The restaurant was amazing as was the food
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was in walking distance of the venue we were going to.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - More restaurant with rooms, how ever it was very pleasant and restaurant very good. I got accommodation for a good price but I think that what it was worth accommodation Wise. It's quite a long way from town centre so car is required.
- Amanda (10/5): Highly recommended - It was really lovely, great room, great service, great breakfast!! Was very, very pleased with it and have recommended it to friends and family already...thank you for a super pleasant stay 😁😁
- Andy (6/5): Disappointed - Small rooms, flaky painted toilet seat - just expected more being above a loch Fyne restaurant - won’t book again, much better value for money locally to this place..
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a good price for what was provided. The staff were absolutely superb. The pinnacle for me was lobster benedict for breakfast - stunning!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room ok but small and stuffy. Breakfast was very good. Generally very good value
- Norma (6/5): - The room was too small for comfort. The window did not open more than a couple of inches and so it was stuffy. The bathroom door was directly at the end of the bed and the light switch was outside the bathroom - getting up to go to the loo meant light flooded the bedroom disturbing the person still in bed. The staff were lovely and the restaurant great and we would definitely eat there again.
