• Grantmason1214 (4/5): Not worth it - Just back from the Angus and I have to say very disappointed. Room was not ready until 16.30 which by the time we got to our room the kids swimming slot was finished. The room was dirty and the wallpaper coming off the walls and mould on ceiling. Food was awful. And booked here so my wife can have some treatments but was. Not told at time of booking that the therapist does not work a Sunday but did have a lovely view of Tesco out of our window
• Dreamer18496018246 (10/5): Pleasant - The Angus hotel is in a quiet area of the town/village. Lots of restraunts nearby. Our double room was very comfortable although found the en-suite door heavy. Toilet seat a bit cramped but spotless. Bar staff were very friendly on the nights we ate in. Food was delicious although the bread rolls were the size of a Ferrero Rocher. Not enough to soak up the lovely soup. Main course was a decent size portion and puddings were delicious maybe a little more toffee sauce with the sticky toffee pudding. Didn't manage to get to the spa. Maybe next time.
• markcL10IO (6/5): GOOD LOCATION GREAT STAFF GOOD HOTEL,,, - hotel is a little dated and in need of a refurb in some places,,didnt use spa facilities so cant comment on them,,,room was tidy although dated with older furniture and wallpaer coming away at the joins,,same with the bathroon tidy but tired,,dinner was good staff were really nice from reception staff to servers they couldnt help enough,,breakfast was good although a little cold( cooked breakfast) plenty of choice and tasted brilliant,,bar area was nice and cosy and hotel is lovely and warm throughout,,would i stay again YES
• mariondale (2/5): Very poorly laid out. - Being 80 and disabled I requested a room near the lift. My room was down 3 corridors plus a flight of stairs. On looking at a plan of rooms I decided that the room was the furthest of any from the lift and as there was no porterage I had an awful struggle. Having got to the room it was cramped but adequate. Presumably because it was so far away the water in the shower was apt to suddenly go cold. The quality of the meals was poor. They seemed to think that putting vegetables on hot plates would cook them. I like my veggies "al dente" but these were not even that. I certainly would not want to stay here again.
• S8292SVericm (10/5): A Most Enjoyable Stay in the heart of Perthshire. - We enjoyed a short break at this very comfortable hotel located in the centre of the charming Perthshire village of Blairgowrie. The staff were very friendly and helpful; our room was very comfortable; the menu choices were very good and the Spa with its pool was a real bonus. The hotel was well placed to enjoy the surrounding Perthshire countryside and to visit such iconic sites as Glamis Castle and Scone Palace.
• M4EQlindag (6/5): Angus Hotel short stay. - This is our third time at this Hotel courtesy of gifts from our daughter. The room was ok but needed a few wee bits of attention. No robes, towels and slipper hamper for the Spa in room. Asked at reception to be told no longer get this with your package but can pay £7 each if want them! Booked Spa but jacuzzi wasn't working and the ceiling etc at pool damaged and terrible looking. Had dinner first night which was lovely but service poor and menu totally different from that on website this year. Selection drastically reduced and limited. Good selection at buffet breakfast. Definitely see a difference in the hotel over past few years though and Spa really needs to be sorted.
• O4234EQclaireg (4/5): With a bit of work and investment I’m sure it could be lovely. - We got this stay as a gift, if I had paid full price I would be asking for my money back. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, this was where our experience began to decline. While the room itself was clean, the presence of black mould around the base of the shower was quite off putting. The chocolate strawberries that had been left in the room appeared to have been sitting out for an unknown period of time. They were not edible and were dripping with moisture. We had initially booked dinner at the hotel restaurant. However, after looking around, we did not feel comfortable dining there and chose to eat elsewhere. Upon returning, there was a strong smell of fish which was again quite unpleasant. I would like to note that the bar staff were very friendly and were a real positive aspect of our stay. Although the exterior of the hotel is attractive, the interior appears tired and worn. The brown sofas were torn and patched with tape, and the carpets were threadbare in places. We had also booked to use the spa facilities, but given our overall experience, we did not feel comfortable doing so. At breakfast, there was no one present to greet or assist guests. The quality of the food was disappointing, with the sausages and black pudding being particularly poor. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as there are clearly areas that require attention.
• M1621HTcarolm (6/5): Food cold - On Wednesday night we went for a meal at The Angus Hotel restaurant. The restaurant didn’t open until 6 and then it was very busy. I had the rump steak and a sauce it was well cooked I didn’t need a steak knife. My husband had the haggis neeps and tatties, it came out cold, the staff apologised and brought him out a new plate full of. That ruined the experience for us.
• B2292FCkarenw (4/5): A well planned out disaster - It was a catalogue of disasters our booking was lost when we arrived I had a very long email trail about the booking but they didn’t really seem to care, then when we got that sorted we decided to go the the spa which the young lad a reception said you can stay longer and surprise the jacuzzi was broken (paid for a voucher for my son and wife to have a afternoon tea and spa access they used it at the start of March the jacuzzi was broken then too),the sauna was cold so that was a big disappointment, the appearance of the spa is tired, when I went to tell the staff in my swimsuit that the sauna was cold nothing was done Then when we went for dinner the head waiter was a little snappy I really don’t think I will be back and I loved the hotel it was a little jewel been quite a few times over the last few years and encouraged friends and family to come along
• Hamish80 (4/5): Spa needs sorted! - I go to the Angus regularly to use the spa facilities and have done for some time, however, more recently I am finding the standards have slipped. The jacuzzi has been off for some time now, the ceiling looks like it has been damaged for several weeks also, with no sign of repair and the shower room doors are literally eroding. Whilst the jacuzzi has been off, I have tried several times to call and ask if this is on, however, sadly, none of my calls are answered. I therefore rock up, only to find it is still off. The lockers in the men’s changing are not functional. Where before a card was to be used to lock and unlock, this wasn’t effective, they changed it to codes. However, this is also not functioning meaning I need to take my bag of personal belongings in with me to the spa itself. I had reported this previously, but no change. The pool area needs an overhaul with tiles falling off and water damage to walls. Membership prices remain the same throughout, no deduction for utilities that have been out of order for some time. This could be better managed in my view.

Stayed in a double room, mattress not very comfy, decor dated and bathroom needed an update... Bath.makes.room very small. We stayed on the third floor and the noise of the lift, music and people walking up and down the stairs very disrupting. Spa was nice. Breakfast buffet was ok. Central location
• G7960ZJliza (6/5): Hotel ideal for touring the area. - The hotel is ideally situated to tour the area. We stayed 2 nts with 2 dog and grandchild. The room was very clean but tired. Felt welcoming with our Procecco package shortbread and chocolate strawberries. Goodies for the pups large bag of treat for each of them, poo bags dog blankets and water and food bowl for each of them. Huge king bed and bunk beds in the room so tight squeeze for all if us but fine. Spa facilities were very clean but agin tired and needs some attention. Only down side for us was the evening food long wait for order and basic. Breakfast was lovey and lots of it.
• anjie1964 (8/5): Hiccups at the start - I panicked before I arrived as online check-in was asking for another £131 for our 1 night stay. We were meeting family who live in Blairgowrie amd having a meal for 4 of us there too. We tried for over 2 and a half hours to speak with someone , being cut off twice. I tried to leave messages in the on- line booking service which were never answered. We arrived as if nothing had happened. They said our room was ready. I had called a head a few before as I'm disabled and only require a walk- in shower as my foot amputation can't stabalise in a bath reception said this would be fine as some of the rooms have walk - in showers. We looked forward to our stay. The room we were allocated had a shower over the bath and nothing to support me. It was annoying to stay in the allocated room for 2 hours while waiting as I didn't want to touch anything for the cleaners to do double work and having to send my husband to see what was happening, we felt like we were too much trouble. To make matters worse, our table was forgotten about we waited 30 minutes to have our main meal and our plates were never picked up for 45 minutes after we had finished our mains and we asked to see the dessert menu. On a plus point we did have a lovely catch up with our family and the rest of the stay was lovely . The bed was comfortable and the walk- in shower was good. The breakfast was plentiful and staff very helpful. With the hiccups at the start we did enjoy our stay.
• Daydream48586978981 (6/5): Short Staffed - Room was clean but a bit tired looking. Food was a bit of a letdown. After a long wait to order the food was cold. Staff were friendly but they were very rushed. Not enough staff for the amount of people dining. Breakfast again didn't seem to be enough staff. The chef who was very busy had to take room numbers and greet guests.
• avk50 (10/5): Great turn around in last few months - Had stayed previously with a few issues which were definitely addressed, so this was a review stay. From check in, greeted by a lovely young man, so pleasant , professional and helpful. Got keys to our room which was lovely.No complaints at all, beds comfy and had great sleep. We did 2 nights B and B, and 1 night dinner and tribute. Both days breakfasts were lovely, ran low for very short time on 1 day, but replenished really quickly, so no issues. Tribute night was fabulous...food served professionally and swiftly ...we were asked prior to arriving about our food choices, which I felt kept things slick and streamlined and allowed a prompt service of piping hot food. The tribute was the Broclaimers...absolutely outstanding...and followed by a DJ and disco with some good dancing tunes.. Found all staff on this visit to be pleasant , professional and approachable, making the stay even more pleasant. We used the spa, but sadly jacuzzi in process of repair, but still a lovely spa and enjoyed. We are aware under new ownership and many transitions taking place, but have to say from previous, these are all positive changes and we noticed quite an improvement. Would be perfectly happy to return again !

• monty4d (8/5): Lovely chilled stay - Lovely relaxing break with family we had a couple of very chilled days . The food was nice as we had breakfasts and a dinner in the restaurant which were all fine . We booked originally because it had a pool and jacuzzi unfortunately the jacuzzi was not in service due to a fault but we made the most of it . The staff I found all very pleasant and helpful if we needed anything so overall an enjoyable break . The hotel is tired in areas but it takes time and looks like they are trying to improve the areas which need upgrading we will certainly return many thanks to will who was lovely as was all the other staff .

Decor of the main hotel is a little tired though bedroom, clean and fresh. Meal on first night was excellent quality. Plenty to choose from for breakfast. Made use of the spa facility. Shame hot tub out of order. Hotel great location for getting out and about. Had a treatment with Tessa - wonderful 😊

You need to up your game , we were gifted this 2 night stay for our anniversary but i need to say this , VERY dated room , supposed to be 'welcome hamper' it consisted of 2 shorbreads and 1 strawberry halved with choc dribbled on them , bar menu was an old menu didnt have half the drinks advertised bar staff told us to go across the road to the crown bar ! Food was nice at night, BUT breakfast wow what a disappointment, cheapest of the cheap ingredients all i wanted was toast and butter guess what NO BUTTER just cheap margarine , would have been better staying in a premier inn sorry would not recommend
• 869lynnc (10/5): Great wee quaint hotel - The location of the hotel is right in the square of the town but don't let this put you off it was a beautiful outlook to the square and quiet at night. Dinner served from 6pm was very good. Never used the pool etc having to book put us off as we're spur of the moment kind of people. Room was lovely also. We were initially given a recently updated room but it only had a shower which doesn't suit me as I have fibromyalgia so prefer to soak in a bath, they were so kind to move us to one with a bath, older but still nice. We will visit again, reception staff exceptional on arrival and leaving. Value for money for sure.
• Kazybabe1 (6/5): Awful experience - Used to be a favourite stay but we will never be back , rude front of house staff , made check in miserable and we wanted to leave and return home and we weren’t the only ones saying this. Hardly any beer pumps working , trying to get a coffee at breakfast was a joke , jacuzzi not working and apparently it’s been like that sometime , water in room turned off for a plumbing issue, and we couldn’t flush the toilet, power cuts and the noise from floorboards and banging doors kept us awake all night 😔 awful experience.
• SteveL210 (8/5): Great stay. - Nice check in online so our room and key was waiting, you need to put your registration in the machine so you don't get a ticket. Room was a bit dated but the bed was super king size. Brewing facilities are in the room with nice tv and hair dryer. We were given a bottle of red wine and hand made chocolate strawberries and shortbread biscuits along with a card for our anniversary (nice touch). Breakfast was very nice and everything was cooked well, even had black pudding. cereal's were plenty with about six/seven choices. The spa was good with the pool, sauna and steam room very nice. (shame the jacuzzi was out of order), some off the changing room lockers need attention as the locks don't work. Evening meal in the main restaurant was superb with my wife saying the fish and chips was the best she's ever eaten, really nice food. All in all it was a very nice stay, stayed in better, but stayed in a lot worse. Many thanks to John on reception for all his help and information.

Lovely meal although portion sizes are too big. Great choice for breakfast. Hotel is close to the Cateran Trail. Also central to the town. Would revisit.
• evem268 (6/5): Ok but they need to work on a few issues. - Check in ok. Was allowed to park in the car park prior to the 3pm check-in (we had to put car details into the screen in reception so we didn't get a parking charge). The hotel room was small, and the door to the bathroom was a slide one, which stuck if closed fully. As part of our deal, we were supposed to get a square view room (which I believe were superior rooms), but this was unavailable The bed was comfortable, and there was a hospitality tray with tea, coffee, etc. We went to the bar for a drink. Luckily, we could get lager, but the majority of beers were unavailable. We were supposed to get a bottle of prosecco in our room ( as part of our wowcher deal), but instead, there was a bottle of red wine. We don't drink this and asked for the prosecco we were supposed to receive only to be told they didn't have any. They did change it for white wine. I had previously been onto the site to book a slot for the swimming pool and collected our pool towels from reception. The pool was nice, and the sauna and steam room were working, but the hot tub wasn't. The pool area could do with a wee refresh. We didn't eat dinner but did have breakfast. The cereal was cheap and nasty, but the cooker breakfast was OK. All in all, it was a better stay than I thought due to some of the reviews, but they need to get their dri ks issues ported if they want repeat custom.
• Culture08640946002 (2/5): Spa let down - Currently at hotel , a total let down , previously came here to relax and enjoy the spa facilities, only to arrive and see that the jacuzzi was out of order and has been for past three weeks .Nothing on web site to say this to guests who have booked . The sauna is terrible, as it takes time to heat up , again to a limited heat . Please check facilities before travelling to avoid being let down .
• maryo105 (10/5): Loved it - Just returned from a 2 night stay. Location was good with parking. Lovely friendly atmosphere and staff were very welcoming and helpful. Hotel and room were spotlessly clean apart from a wee bit of mould on the sealant in the bathroom. Shower pressure was fantastic. Mattress was a bit soft for me, apart from that we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Few areas in bar need upgrading (worn carpet/Leather sofas) but I'm sure the owners are working their way through these. We ate in the restaurant both nights and food was delicious with ample portions. My husband took advantage of the pool/sauna etc both days with no issues. Overall we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay, would definitely return.
• christinemB7189AS (8/5): Family stay - Lovely couple of days in a family room. Room was clean and we enjoyed our complementary bottle of fizz. On a couple of occasions we smelt sulphur smell in the bathroom but it didnt last. Enjoyed our swim in the pool. Staff very friendly and helpful.
• 206hayt (4/5): Useless reception staff - We chose this hotel for use of the spa and pool with the children.. we arrived at 3,30, booked to go swimming with the kids at 5 (whilst stood with them) we waited 1.5 hours, then at 5 when getting our towels, the same staff member told us we were not allowed in with the children after 5! Why didn’t he let us book before? He knew we had children! It’s also not stated on website. The man was rude, unwelcoming with minimal people skills.. shame as rooms were clean, and other staff members were polite!
• Scully205 (6/5): Great entertainment packagr - Slow check in ,room was comfortable and clean. Saturday night entertainment was great and food was well presented and delicious. Went to breakfast on saturday morning at 9.15am the 2 coffee machines stopped working eventually working after 15 minutes , buffet breakfast was poor asked for sausages were told none left,no yoghurt , children taking cereal with their hands(blame parents for this) haggis and beans cold ,eggs rubbery and bacon dried out ended up just having croissant and coffee,didnt bother with breakfast on sunday. Staff ,rooms and entertainment package fantastic but breakfast service and food need an overhaul

Another person's bill was wrong too when we were checking out. Beware of checking in through website, you can only check in after 3pm and not before. Food was good.

Finally stayed in the 3rd but even that left a lot to be desired Not given welcome pack not given strawberries dipped in chocolate was told this was due to new management and these extras were now not given. To my surprise when I used the spa facilities I discovered that other guests had beed given the welcome pack strawberries robes and slippers one guest was also given afternoon tea. On questioning reception staff they said they would email management to date I have had no response. To say I was underwhelmed is an understatment

Thank goodness they have got rid of the awful checking in desks and gone back to real friendly people with a smile. This is my 45th year coming to the Angus about this time to go skiing. I like the Spa though the last time I was here the jacuzzi was also broken. However the sauna and pool are very good. For the first time I did not have dinner. No menu on line and I can see why. Anyone who wants to lead a healthy lifestyle would not go near this calorie loaded menu. I did mention it to the barman but all he was interested in was booking me a time slot! Eat at Spoonies for half the price and they have all the calories on each item. The room was fine and clean so well done to housekeeping team. Also the cushion and liner were not put back on the bed, thanks Breakfast was good and good value for the £7.00 There you are Angus you have my comments Hope I get a feedback and not wasted my time!

Restaurant was never full so don't understand why the ripped chairs weren't put at tables not in use? Bedroom was a decent size and comfortable. Pool area was lovely. Food was good. Disappointed a Scottish hotel didnt serve Scottish beer or a Scottish breakfast. Hotel was very warm, sometimes unbearable! Overall, decent weekend for the price paid.

Food was good. We had a nice room lots of space in good condition comfy bed. They had live music in the evening which we didn't know about so was a nice surprise and we had a fun night. Good location close to pubs and restaurants. Spa was lovely enjoyed using it. Was good value for money. We got a bottle of procecco in the room included in price and home made shortbread and chocolate strawberries so nice. For 3 star hotel better than other places I have stayed. Would stay again
• 504volkers (4/5): Avoid if you can - This was a very poor stay. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was because of the pool which ended up being closed when we were there. The TV's didn't work and when we went to the bar to have a drink there was no beer on tap and the fridges were bare. They didn't have half of what was on their menu. Overall this was one of the worst hotels I have stayed at and I would definitely not go back.

• 740selenem (2/5): Horrible hotel - I was very disappointed with my stay. The food was horrible and poorly presented, and the staff seemed miserable and uninterested throughout our visit. We paid extra for a New Year’s package, but it felt completely disorganised. Staff didn’t know anything about the advertised treasure hunt or the stovies that were meant to be included. The quiz was especially underwhelming — it was just a list of questions on a piece of paper with no host or atmosphere; we were simply told to fill it out ourselves. To make matters worse, we were charged £600 by accident, which added unnecessary stress to what was already a disappointing experience. The room itself was acceptable, but the bathroom was dated and in need of an update. There was also no water, so we couldn’t shower in our room and had to use the spa facilities instead. Overall, this stay did not live up to expectations, especially considering the cost of the New Year package.

We were given an Itinerary which didn't coincide with what happened no stovies on Hogmany as promised no treasure hunt and everything finished and was getting all packed up by 12:15 on 1 Jan. Very short staffed and reception bordering on rude can't fault the food it was delicious and the young waiting staff were delightful
• dougmU756JW (2/5): Worst Christmas lunch ever !! - Booked a 3 day stay over Christmas. Christmas Day totally spoiled by worst Christmas lunch I have ever had. Waited 30 mins to be served starter which was ok but nothing special. À further 40 mins for main course. INEDIBLE. The ‘turkey’ was a slice of processed rubber. 3 sprouts hard as ball bearings and one piece of raw carrot. 3 very small roast potatoes. Could only be described as a child’s portion. I left it. When I complained to the person who appeared to be the manageress, she just shrugged. No apology. Had to wait another 30 mins for dessert even having asked twice for service. Many others I spoke to afterwards had the same complaints. Delays being served, inedible food and rude staff. The staff on duty were obviously not trained. They wandered about aimlessly without a clue how to serve large gatherings and were not allocated specific tables. They even brought food to the wrong tables even though everything was pre-ordered. Then on our last day , the promised evening entertainment never even showed up! What a complete waste of money. Management needs changing to sort this place out. By the way à pint of lager from Weatherspoons , 500 yards from the hotel, is £2.50 cheaper. I will never be back to this hotel and would advise everyone to avoid it.
• margaretcT5142LW (2/5): Santa and festivities missing from Festive Break - My husband and myself stayed at this Hotel for a very welcome Festive Break. What a waste of time it turned out. There was nothing festive about the hotel. The food was mediocre at best and the Christmas festivities were a non starter. On arrival we were handled a photocopied piece of paper with itinerary. Oh that sounded good we thought. But there appeared to be no timings as it had been copied to many times and the timings were almost invisible. We actually thought it was letters from over the page. Our first dinner was awful as the staff appeared to forget we were actually sitting at a table. Had to ask several times for the complimentary prosecco or even a drink. When we eventually got our mains, after asking, they were barely warm. On Christmas Day itself we were moved into what can only be described as a canteen rather than the restaurant to have our fancy lunch. Another fiasco. Appeared Staff had no direction in what they were doing and again huge delays between the courses. The food again was mediocre. There was no Kings Speech on a big screen, with promised Christmas cake and coffee. Staff say their projector was broken ! That evening there was 1 barman on duty for the hotel and he appeared to be the only member of staff booking people into the hotel. Also the activities were non existent. It was a matter of please yourselves. And to sum it up on Boxing Day the evening entertainment failed to show and staff claimed to have no knowledge, until someone was heard to say that the entertainment called in at lunch time. The whole experience was awful and as this was our first time having a "festive break" it was very disappointing. Would never recommend this place. Bad food..Bad service.
• B5458XCianc (2/5): Xmas 4 day Deal - Not sure were to begin. Lovely setting and a pleasant surrounding. Downhill from there. Accommodation, building seen better days but very clean, toilets not great, food areas good, more so for walk-ins then for us, on xmas day we were in the canteen not the restaurant. Room was good but our ensuite was behind a partitioned wall with a sliding door 2ft away from the bed. On checkout the door instantly locked us out at 10am, as we were emptying to the car, though had booked till 12pmt, took them 20mins to get us into the room. Food was horrendous, same soup every meal, carrot plus, xmas dinner was the worst I have ever eaten. Processed turkey slice, cold veg and terrible roasties. We sat down at 1.30 and finally left at 4pm. Chaos for over 3hours. Even though this was all planned from Oct. none of the food catered for our specific request of Gluten free food, we just did not eat.For our last dinner we went to the local Balti, which I full recommend. Lastly the staff, the young ones tried their very best but had language issues or lack of backing let them down. Senior staff where none existent and when I asked for assistance they expressed lack of interest.No staff over xmas night on reception? OVERALL, noway would I return or recommend the ANGUS HOTEL either.

All meals were delicious, free drinks, entertainment and use of the spa, it was perfect Only issue was the noisy room, with pipes rattling all night, but we were given another room, which allowed us to sleep although the TV was not working.

When we entered the dinning area, there was "no welcome". Plenty of staff standing around, eventually someone acknowledged us. They could not find out booking, we were asked. Are you sure you booked? What time did you book for? Eventually the booking was found among many sheets of paper. No apology was given, we were shown to out table. Eventually someone took a drinks order, now we had preordered our meals. As we sat there waiting, we discovered the family beside us. They had been waiting 50 minutes for their dessert. Yes they did enquiry about it, after a total of 70 minutes their desserts arrived. We waited 45 minutes for our starter to arrive, the food was good quality. Then there was another wait of 50 minutes for the main course. In the meantime there was 4 tables who came in after us. Who were served their mains before us. We enquired a few times about the meal, we were rudely told well it's Christmas! My husband sought out a manager, once again the answer was it's Christmas. As l said we have dined here before at Christmas. But unless you have experienced management running the show. It can be a disaster, l have seen this hotel at its best. When there is people in place with the necessary skills required . Eventually the mains arrived, at this stage l made another complaint at the table. Once again we were told it's Christmas, my husband who is a vegetarian. Well he said his meal was very enjoyable, mine was another story. One miserable slice of turkey with cold vegetables, l did complain "AGAIN", but no action was take. We got our desserts within 5 minutes off our mains, I wonder why that happened? Having worked in this type of business myself for years. Also my husband with a similar back ground, we know how important customer service is. Well the staff have none at this hotel anymore, not one person was asked in the dining area . Is everything okay? Have you enjoyed your meal? Can we get you anything else? This meal was not cheap, l know staff are under pressure. Many a time l have worked under these conditions myself. But l always remember the customer comes first, always acknowledge your costumer. Look your customer in the eye, it was the local community supporting this hotel. At this time of year and this is our treatment, how can l recommend this hotel to anyone now.

• clairelV4897XZ (6/5): Lovely hotel and Spa, not great food. - The staff were absolutely lovely, friendly and professional, the service was great, especially Will, who went above and beyond, he is an absolute credit to the hotel. The atmosphere was calm and cosy. The food, I'm sorry to say was really not what you would expect, the chicken pasta with creamy garlic sauce, was a horrible texture and it had no taste whatsoever, it was incredibly bland. The scampi was what you would expect from wetherspoon, the cheesecake felt hard like it was still frozen, the brownie was the only good thing about the food at the Baytree restaurant. The cooked breakfast was not great either, the pastries and cereal were fine. The hotel itself is absolutely lovely but the food lets it down. Would definitely go back for the hotel and the Spa, would just make other arrangements for food.

Room (207)spotless and comfortable (pillows could do with changing) bathroom has a bit of a damp smell but not an issue if you open the window. Prices a bit high at Bar but plenty of pubs out on square far cheaper. Overall would return. Tessa the therapist was absolutely fantastic would highly recommend 👌

Everyone at reception, bar and restaurant was polite, courteous, friendly and very helpful. Little touches that made our stay very enjoyable were, a steel bar to help with getting into the bath, a cartridge coffee machine in addition to a kettle in our room, linen napkins in the restaurant and exquisite Cullen skink at dinner. A welcome hamper with a bottle of prosecco, shortbread and chocolate dipped strawberries were an icing on the cake. Overall a memorable experience. We will happily stay here again.

• annemK5853OI (2/5): Very disappointed - I have never felt the need until this point to leave a review on trip advisor until I was subjected to, in my opinion, the unprofessional behaviour of the hotel manager/ operations manager at the Angus Hotel. When I asked her to sort the lockers in the spa and asked her to reply to an email I had sent her I was subjected to a torrent of abuse and then when I told her I would write to the owner she laughed and gave him a round of abuse too, this is an old man who has done a lot of good in the community. I have a spa membership which I have paid for a year but I will not be returning due to the behaviour I have received and have a new membership at a spa where the managers behaviour is professional. I do not need to go into details about the hotel managers behaviour just read the management reply’s on this site when a negative review is left! I want no further response from the Hotel manager as I have written to the owner’s family,one of whom I was at school with and I have posted letters to other directors care of the hotel so let’s see if they get through! I have been swimming at this hotel on and off for approximately 40 years and dealt with a number of managers happily but have never been met with such unprofessional behaviour that I experienced from the current manager. To end on a more positive note the rest of the staff in the hotel have always been very helpful and professional.

Bus stop outside the hotel can take you either into Perth or Dundee both have great shops, Blairgowrie has shops to browse also and some lovely walks, the locals are supper friendly, if you have a dog there is plenty of space to go long walks

Food & party night were good , though overcrowded- however..the lift was out of order & we were on the 3rd floor. We feel we should have been informed prior. Over the weekend the vast majority of the time , our room had no water, couldn't flush toilet, wash, fill kettle etc & we were 4 unrelated friends in 1 room. Toilet situation especially was Awful. Reception staff not particularly helpful or pleasant. There was a fire alarm on Sat night so we left the party night early, but most people were just hanging round reception , no one co ordinating any evacuation, chaos! No one certain if we even needed to evacuate. We had arranged a late checkout on the sunday and booked the spa - well at least we'd get a shower ! But no, we all trooped down there after breakfast to find the spa closed. We'd booked it, so hotel had our details but no communication about the closure. We therefore checked out early and were actually all back in our home town by the time our late checkout was due - very disappointing to be home so early. We were also phoned on Saturday afternoon and had to cut short our day out to return to hotel to complete evening menu choice , again shocking communication when we'd been to reception for many things already on Friday & Saturday , with opportunity to do menus if they asked then. The worst part and the reason for only 1 star is their lack of customer service. Not an apology or explanation- nothing . We have now emailed & phoned numerous times and had no reply ( its been a month now, so plenty time). It appears they do not care, they've had your money and are obviously not bothered. Disgusting behaviour and poor experience of what should have been a treat for us & a good weekend

Attended nearby Church tapas bar:restaurant which was fab x
• Sophey11 (4/5): A real lack of customer service a massive disappointment - Visited the Angus hotel Fri to sun for the tribute package deal. Not our first stay but sadly standards just keep getting worse and worse each time, it’s never the same staff or management. Firstly it’s a nightmare to book, no one answers the phone they want everything done online even if you’re lucky to finally speak to someone they try to force you to hang up and do everything online! if you have a query or a question you wait weeks for a reply, apparently it takes the staff away from there reception duties, clearly from our visit their reception duties include sitting behind the desk either 2 or 3 of them chatting away to each other, not once during our stay did any member of staff speak to us , welcome us, say hello, smile or even lift their head from behind the reception desk! Clearly their reception duties do not include being first point of contact when someone arrives, gone are the days when you would be greeted by a warm welcome and smile from a receptionist. All so busy now (sitting like a judging panel behind the desk) So the lift is out of order which we knew about but it’s been out of order for must be over a year as wasn’t working on our last visit either, I find this a shocking length of time to have a hotel without a lift. We booked our stay back in June and specifically asked for our 3 rooms close together to due personal issues and also the fact that we came together and wanted to be close by as a group, two rooms were while the other was down another corridor no where near! On entering the rooms one room was absolutely freezing, the heater was clearly broken and it was obvious this hadn’t just happened. We informed a member of reception who told us the maintenance team had left and would need to wait til the morning for someone to have a look, due to the room being so cold we asked to either move or get a temp heater, the heater blew freezing cold air and was making the situation worse. We went for a meal but sadly all the starters we cold not even luke warm, the waiter was nice he took them back and we were given fresh plates which were lovely and very hot, we ordered our mains 2 of which were the Korean burgers, these were horrendous god knows what kind of chicken it was but neither of us could eat them as it was just lumps of fat, iv added pictures below. We went out for a drink and on our return found there had been entertainment within the hotel which we could have enjoyed had anyone opened their mouth to let us know! When we returned to our rooms the room was colder than ever so another visit to reception where we were greeted by a very rude member of staff who tutted and aggressively asked for our room number! He stormed off to get another heater while we waited around for about 10mins by this time it was 11.30pm! Absolutely disgusting to be spoken to like that when all we wanted and had paid for was a warm room! Shocking! We enjoyed a nice swim on the Saturday morning (remember to book) we then enjoyed a lovely walk down by the river and to a couple pubs for a few drinks before heading back for our tribute night. Food at the tribute night was nice, the entertainment was good and the young staff were a credit to the place, the only members of staff to smile and be nice and welcoming were the young ones so hats off the them, only caught one name which was David , he’s a wee gem so happy polite and a very hard worker, I remembered him from our last stay where he was just as good! The hotel is decorated so nice with Christmas trees and lights and sets a lovely ambiance. There is a water dispenser which sat either empty or with old water and no glasses , first thing in the morning fresh water would be nice especially after a night of dancing and drinking. Sadly staff too interested in sitting chatting to each other, it’s simple little things like that which cause the standards to drop! Breakfast was nice and plenty of hot food, continental was a little bit lacking but still plenty to eat. On check out again not one member of staff lifted their heads to greet us while using the self check out , no one thanking us for our stay or checking everything was ok of course no one cares as everything already pre paid so no-one really interested. Again a simple smile and goodbye costs absolutely nothing but again clearly too much effort from these extremely busy people. Hotel definitely going down hill, constant change of staff and management and a real lack of any kind of customer service!
• KennyCooper1 (8/5): Tribute night weekend break. - Had a great 2 night stay for a tribute weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves an feel the negative reviews are quite unfair. This is a 3 star hotel and offers good value for that. The commons areas are nice. Rooms are a bit dated but they are clean and have everything you need for a short break. Staff all helpful and courteous and the tribute night itself was excellent. The Xmas dinner was really good. We had dinner in the restaurant first night and food and service in here was great. The spa was really nice as well and the jacuzzi was brilliant. Location is bang on for exploring Blairgowrie as well. Will definitely return.

We paid for a square view room and was told it was one of the upgraded rooms, well it wasn’t and it was pretty dated and in poor condition. This didn’t spoil our weekend, but it did affect it. Breakfast was good and plenty choice with unlimited tea and coffee machines. The Tribute night was great, good food which was tasty and hot and served timely with very good staff! Brilliant atmosphere and all in all a very good night. The pool is lovely and well worth a visit. We had massages and they were good also. Would we return? Probably Not…but only cos of the room and there’s also not much going on in Blairgowrie itself. Our friends had an upgraded room and it was very nice !

Check in was easy and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was a decent size and clean. Bed was comfy and bathroom was also more than adequate. The hotel looked lovely decorated for Christmas which was nice. Dinner has a decent menu and the food was tasty with good sized portions. Service was perhaps a little slow as it wasn't too busy but there seemed to be just 1 staff member covering the bar and food orders. Didn't bother me but I did hear a few grumbles from the other guests. Breakfast was the usual mix of cereals, pastries and cooked items all of which were plentiful and hot. Overall it was a pleasant stay

Leasure facilities could not be faulted but for the fact that even a swim needs to be booked in advance. Restaurant was very cozy, service prompt but not rushed. Food was of good quality but menu a bit restricted with a high proportion of fish dishes. Overall experience was very relaxing and would go back in future.

As the lift was not working (which we were notified about) we informed them that of health problem but they put us in the last room in corridor. Room was not up to standard and bathroom was very small. No headroom in shower and poor flush. The dinners were very disappointing, steak pie no flavour, sea bass tasteless and dry, mashed turnip very lumpy and best of all no vanilla ice cream. Tesco is just across the road. The room was comfortable but as a small double room may have been abit ofca squeeze for two. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and plentiful especially the Haggis, Neeps and Tatties with Whisky Sauce

We stayed for 3 nights and despite leaving our towels in the bath to receive fresh ones, we didn't receive these until the 3rd day. We tried to request these at reception but every time we went, there was no one there. The first night in the restaurant (we arrived at 6pm), we were told four dishes were not available). We left without desert as we waited 15 minutes for our desert order to be taken.
• Trail54734391289 (2/5): Unpleasant/Smelly/Damp/ - I stayed here very recently for 2 nights/mine and my daughters first spa experience together and found this very disappointing although I have emailed twice but absolutely no response.(I have stayed before) On entry we knew the lift was broken but it was clear the stairs was an issue for me due to having a sore hip,why was no on there to help people carry the suitcases etc,Finally made it to our room on the 3rd floor to find a dirty bath along with dirty corridors due to damage the night before our stay which we was not informed of and clearly affected water issues. The place absolutely stunk of dampness and to make things worse we went for dinner which was a horrible experience, young staff tryed there very best but unfortunately waited 50 min for a simple burger and macaroni,not eaten. (that was after getting our order wrong twice) the restaurant stunk of fish and dampness it was so overwhelming we couldn't stay,We then decided to go sit outside with our drink to find youths screaming and shouting abuse at staff while banging on the windows and videoing staff,This was very uncomfortable and unpleasant for myself and my daughter to the point we wanted to actually leave a day early. We did get a good deal yes but not worth it when the stay was so unpleasant and made even worse having no response to my complaints.

Room was expectantly clean and in a great position in blairgowrie to enjoy walks and all he little shops and bars. We had a Dinner B&B deal and Food and service in the restaurant was great The spa was amazing - total relaxation Only small niggle was that lift is broken and was a long walk with some steep stairs to our room although know that if you have any mobility issues the hotel will try to give you a lower floor room
• nicolamaher2025 (10/5): Fantastic hotel, spa and food, everything was 5* - We were delighted when we arrived the chilled Prosecco and the doggie treats in the room, a real nice touch. Our visit to the spa was a hidden gem. The dinner, breakfast, lunch and drinks were 5 * quality. its situated in the centre of town, great walks for dogs too. Fantastic offers, can't wait to return.
• JGMac84 (8/5): Anniversary get away - Quick review. Overall a great hotel to stay. The room was modern and clean. Lovely staff. I would stay again but I do have a couple of moans. A couple of nights stay without the kids meaning I get to use the steam room etc however the steam room was out of order as well as the bubble pool. Totally gutting to be honest, one of the main things I was looking forward to. They did not let us know these weren't working. Pretty poor. We got the pork belly one night for dinner, so good but my god it was the smallest portion ever plus my wife got like a teaspoon of cabbage with it. My other moan was no potato scones and black pudding at breakfast. A Scottish hotel and no potato scone or black pudding, wow.
• donnamatts (2/5): Very Disappointing Stay – No Water, No Communication, No Compensation - ⸻ Paid £508 for a party night and stay for 4. No running water so we couldn’t shower or use the toilet. The lift was broken and later around midnight, the fire alarm went off due to a burst pipe, which was clearly from the issue I raised at 6pm that no one dealt with. (All rooms lost water so we couldn’t use the pool or spa even the next morning).During the entertainment, local youths tried to kick in doors with weapons and we were told not to go outside. Left my details but no one has contacted me. Unsafe and very disappointing experience.

• penderwendy (4/5): Poor show - Booked this as a birthday getaway, looked lovely, wasnt told lift not working, located 4 flights of stairs to room not great with mobility problem, no alternative move could be given, steam room and jacuzzi out of action in spa area also not advised when booking, afternoon tea was over an hour late and the poorest afternoon tea you have seen. Really disappointed to have booked 2 nights DB&B with afternoon tea. Room lovely just no toilet roll or towels, self service down the deadly stairs. Unfortunately no return journey will be had to this hotel.
• balletgirl35 (10/5): Lovey wee gem in Perth - Fifth time staying at this lovely hotel. Love the location, and interior and exterior is gorgeous. Lovely rooms well equipped clean and spacious. Bar area and restaurant lovely and tastefully decorated. Breakfast restaurant is modern clean and functional. With self service from continental options, meats cheese, breads/toast and pastries to Scottish porridge a d full Scottish fry up. Spa is well kept and clean with lovely pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. Beauty treatments available to book as well. Only 1 tiny gripe is the lift is out of order and we were on the 3rd floor. Otherwise a beautiful hotel with fab deals to be had.
• 327ashleigha (10/5): Amazing stay with relaxing spa - What an amazing few days we had here, the spa was amazing, although the steam room and jacuzzi were out of order it didn't bother us as we prefer a swim and a sauna. The location is perfect everything you need is within walking distance, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were spotless and comfortable especially for the value of it. We would definitely visit again, and would highly recommend it. The only small issue we had was having kids in the spa during adults only sessions as all they done was jump and splash in the pool whilst we we tried to relax, that is the whole point in having separate kids sessions but it wasn't adhered to at all.
• carolefP9051CO (2/5): Not nice experience - Stayed here few times before over the years so thought it's our 20th wedding anniversary so let's go up for 2 nights. The food was terrible. Waited 40 minutes on cold bland soup. An hour and 14 minutes for our main course. Asked if can have whole potatoes. Kind of just shook his head. So steak pie with French fries, hard green beans. Pastry couldn't cut and bland beef. Asked for vinger. Got 2 sachets thrown on table with a enjoy. However bus load came in half hour after us but all seemed to be eating before us. Everyone that was in round about same time as us all waited the same on food. Booked in for 18.15 as was told about coach load so thought go early. Shocking Shower in room no pressure. Didn't even spray out then goes cold n no water half way through shower 😡 room was too hot. No lift working so myself and loads of other people had to use stairs. No good if you have walking sticks etc. Had afternoon tea and the girl served us was lovely and very pleasant. Guy on the desk lovely and very helpful. Sadly will not be back. Shame as Blairgowrie such lovely wee place.

Nothing really positive to say except in contrast with previous reviews I never found issue with the staff including the poor guy on the receiving end of my rant when the food issues became farcical. I had the Afternoon tea dbb booking. I’m hesitant with a rotten review when potentially , livelihoods are at stake but this place has had enough warning shots over the bow and the management find more time to generate condescending replies to reviewers than to fixing the ongoing problems being conveyed to them . Before getting to the food the hotel is quite tired although you can see where attempts have been made to give it a tidy-up . Elevators , jacuzzi, steam room all broken but these issues have been common in reviews since August or earlier ! I had no heating in room and the overwhelming smell of chlorine is everywhere in the rooms above the spa centre which my wife found uncomfortable. The food is diabolical! After leaving afternoon tea sandwiches made with stale wholemeal bread plastered in margarine with cheap processed cheese slices we thought not good but dinner won’t be that bad . Correct, it was worse . A starter of carpaccio salmon…eh no ! A slice of rubbery cheap supermarket smoked salmon with cremated capers ( how is that even possible) . £10 . By the time the main courses arrived we had a quick taste of what was supposed to be filo filled sea bass and prawns accompanied with noodles and a cream coconut curry sauce . We got one of those supermarket bags of noodles with veg for stir frying and no creamy coconut curry sauce . After a rant we left the food up and left . The waiter offered to replace the food but appetites and expectations were gone .Breakfast was poor but offered the chance of finding something edible once you make the trip back to reception to ask for a plate . The hotel had very low occupancy.There was no one else in the restaurant and the bar was deserted . Is the writing on the wall ? You have been warned…read the reviews !

Drinks took an hour - one pint of beer and two (unopened) cans with glasses. Chap behind the bar needs to find a job more suited to his skillset - like road sweeping.
• pupdod (2/5): Very Poor standard left early made to feel I had been totally misold waiting on a refund. - Booked 2 nights b&b, first night £25 each for myself and Wife towards our main meal, 2nd day was afternoon tea and use of spa facilities. Booked a cosy double room £238. On arrival room was very dated, and smelt of dog, the picture we viewed on my Hotel break was not nothing like the room we got allocated, TV never worked told that it was the weather, dinner service and food was very poor complained and checked out early 12ish next day never stayed for afternoon tea. We did use the Spa jacuzzi and steam room was broken, my wife had an incident where no guard on the filter was present which resulted in her flesh being being tucked in causing bruising. When I reported this to reception I was told to contact My Hotel Break, I did this they told me to deal direct with Hotel. The receptionist told me I was not priority and she had lots of emails to deal with. I felt matters could have been dealt with while I was at the hotel but no left early feeling frustrated and ignored. I have since contacted My Hotel Break who have also emailed the hotel however like myself no response as yet. This hotel has coach trips they seem to take priority
• davidmT8977VR (2/5): Totally Disappointing - Having been before was totally disappointed with this visit. Fourteen adults coming for a celebration, totally wasted by the check in time, disgraceful rude service of waiters and the 2 hour wait on the Friday night meal. No sleep at all on the Saturday night due to a TV blaring from next room, tried to bang on their door to no avail, went to reception to find that it's not manned during the night, dread to think what would happen if a fire broke out! Tribute night meal was nice enough and singer was excellent but unfortunately, won't be back!
• LC6955 (6/5): Really lovely and friendly hotel. But… - Lovely hotel. Friendly staff on reception. Pool is also lovely as is the sauna and jacuzzi. Dinner was nice although it took 2 hours to be served dinner and desert. I think we were unlucky with our room as it was right above the bar. And even tho the music wasn’t super loud. It was a constant noise until 11.30pm and back on at 9am. Would defo stay again though if I was guaranteed a different room
• Moby2608 (6/5): 2 night stay disappointing - 3rd time staying here I did feel disappointed this visit, I think some upgrading is definitely necessary the bathroom door was a joke a sliding door that doesn’t close absolutely no privacy , shower temp was awful either boiling or freezing so no shower for 2 days not ideal, I also need to say I think the spa does need closer monitoring I booked after 5pm session because of adults only when we went in there were kids in the pool then when my partner was trying to get dried in the MALE. Changing area this guys young daughter was coming in and out freely was very inappropriate, in the spa steam room was not working also showers not working .

• brendam589 (10/5): Angus Hotel Blairgowrie - We booked a 2 night stay here. The self service check in quick and efficient. The hotel is a little tired and could do with some updating and upgrading in some of the public spaces. Our room was spacious and the bathroom adequate. We had breakfast both mornings which we enjoyed, good choice of continental and cooked items. We had dinner one night which was extremely good value and nicely presented. Staff attentive and professional. We would certainly return. The lift was out of service but we were made aware of this in every correspondence from the hotel so were prepared. We would recommend if you are looking for a very central hotel with nice food.
• 595sks2025 (4/5): The Anxious Hotel & Parking Chaos - Repair the lift, redecorate the rooms and hallway, get rid of the chipped or broken bathroom tiles and NO SHOWER CURTAINS, glass is more hygienic, get rid of the mould in the bathroom and restain the doors, not nice. Prioritise your Hotel guests over spa guests for parking. Just Redecorate everything including the smelly hallways.
• johnkZ485EB (10/5): Great for a short break. - We loved our short break at this hotel. There were a couple of gremlins at work as the lift wasn't working and some of the swim changing lockers had been broken by "users". Otherwise this was a perfect break. Location, food, service and accommodation were all very good, but not modern or new as some may wish. We thought it was much better with a boutique feeling in our cosy room. A lot of good quality fixtures and fittings have been provided recently such as Hansgrohe taps and it feels very comfortable. The swimming pool and sauna were bigger that it looked in pictures and very relaxing with scheduled children free sessions for those it suits. It's bang in the town centre and it was easy to reach most things in the quaint little town. Free parking directly outside the hotel too. We'll certainly be back to this very friendly and welcoming place.

• Lee310 (8/5): Birthday stay - I’m writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent stay. Unfortunately, someone else's food and drink charges were mistakenly added to my bill, bringing the total to £89. As I was on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast (DBB) package and ordered no extras—due to being very unwell with a bug during my stay—there should have been no additional charges. I was reassured at checkout that everything was fine, but I later noticed that the money had still been taken. Thankfully, this was quickly rectified and refunded. However, the overall experience was very disappointing. I was unable to use the spa or even have breakfast due to illness, and I certainly did not want any extra charges for the evening meal, which I barely managed to eat. I hope you can take this feedback into account, as it added unnecessary stress to an already difficult stay. Kind regards, Lee Anderson
