- yun ku (2/5): - From the first day, the roof was leaking and under the bed there was so much dusty. So the air of the room was contaminated with bad smell...totally the room was not suitable for the customer's staying. After moving to the other room, the cleanness was almost the same level but a little bit better. Make a long story short, please delete this hotel from your Hotels.com package. I could not visit Hotels.com if you continue to keep this hotel in your website. Thanks. If you need pictures, I will send it separately.

The only thing I could complain about is that the light in the room is rubbish if you want to do your makeup! (But super cozy!)

We were originally placed in the third floor but the stairs were icy and we almost slipped (no elevator). They accommodated us with a 2nd floor room, but the ceiling was leaking. The ceiling above the bed looked moldy.
- Verified traveler (4/5): 곰팡이와 함께 - 숙소 내부를 리모델링 한 듯한데 현관문 들어가자마자 곰팡이 냄새가 진동을 하길래 보니 주방과 화장실에 곰팡이가 한가득 있네요. 제 생각에 집이 오래되어 단열이 안 좋아서 겨울철 결로 때문인것 같습니다. 이 부분은 개선이 필요합니다. 이런 곰팡이 가득한 곳에서 다시는 자고싶지 않아요.

- JEONGSOON (10/5): - The Perfect Haven in Seoul, Complete with Friendly Service and Spotless Rooms My stay at this hotel was absolutely delightful. Having lodged here last January and returned, it's clear this spot keeps drawing me back. The room was spotless, with particularly pristine bedding which ensured a super comfy night. Its quiet location made it the perfect spot to unwind. The beef soup and dumplings served at the North Korean restaurant right at the alley’s entrance were top-notch. Kit, the front desk officer from Hong Kong, was immensely friendly and fluent in English, making communication a breeze. With its reasonable prices and excellent service, I've firmly decided to stay here whenever I'm in Seoul. It feels like I've found my own little haven, much like something out of The Guardian's travel pages. Highly recommend!

I stay there for 5 days, just like a home away from home, I can cook my own breakfast and have a coffee in the beautiful architect lounge! Very warm and heart warming in this Korea winter! - Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel did not seem to match what I saw on the website. It looked really modern and clean on the website. However, in person, it was more run-down. The outside common area was dirty and there were dead plants and old broken furniture piled up. There was mold in the shower. Besides that, the bed and toilet were clean. It is a little bit of a walk to the restaurants. There are many hotels in the area, so I will definitely find something cleaner for my next trip to Seoul.

- Sophie (6/5): - We stayed 3 nights. The second night, we went back to the place around 10:00 pm and we found no internet, no TV& no electricity on one side of the room. It said it was a hotel but more like a home stay. There were no attendance for the facility. We had a phone number for the owner but we did not call him to fix it. We thought it was too late to call. The next morning we talked to a concierge and we could change the room. The building does not have a sign of hotel and it locates in the narrow alley where only one car can pass. It was unbelievable they nameed it a "hotel".

- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel in Hongdae Seoul - My two friends and I stayed at iHouse ChinChin in Hongdae during our 6 day visit to Seoul. Our room was very spacious with a nice contemporary design. There was a double (or queen?) sized bed in the main living area with another identically sized mattress under the bed which you can slide out to use. The upper loft area was small but still very comfortable with two futons to sleep on. The staff were very nice and approachable. Location is about 15 minutes walk from Hongdae; this can be long for some travelers, but it was personally no issue for us. The water system could use some improvement; ie, the shower was unusable if someone turned on the kitchen sink. All in all we had a pleasant stay and would recommend it to anyone who visits Seoul.

The service was great in the morning they made me a great breakfast/and fresh coffee. They had nice jazz music playing the background and many cooking books to read as a Chef this is +10 points. The staff was exceptional and super friendly. I have strongly recommend this place to stay in the future for anyone. I will surely be back to stay here again. - TravelingNatonYT (2/5): Was locked out of the house...forced to sleep on lobby floor - I am going to start with the review of the hotel and amenities, before I continue on to the horror story I experienced at iHouse Chin Chin: It is a cute contemporary house that provides private rooms to guests and open public spaces to promote a sense of community for travelers. This is the main reason why I chose iHouse Chin Chin. I stayed in the triple room which provided 1 bed (with a mattress) and 2 loft style areas with only a 2 inch mat and comforter. There was a mini-fridge that had hair inside of it, the shower walls had black mold growing, and the wood around the sink in the bathroom was rotten and shedding (due to the fact that there was no shower curtain that separated the shower area from the rest of the bathroom). This fact also was the cause of the entire bathroom to be soaked to the point where water was escaping into the main bedroom area. Continuing onto the horror story: On the night of October 29th (early morning October 30th), me and two other guests attempted to return to our hotel room. When we arrived at the hotel, we tried to open the door which led to the common area that led to where our room was located. However, this door was locked. The only way to lock the door was from the inside of the building, so it was assumed that one of the other guests in the hotel locked the door. We knocked on the door hoping that one of the other guests in the hotel would hear us and unlock the door, but nobody did (it was 2 a.m.). So, we went downstairs to the main lobby to try and find and employee to help with this situation. There was no one to be found. There was an emergency number posted on the front desk that said to call if there was an immediate emergency. I called that number all night with no success. No one from management answered my calls to unlock the door. So me and my guests were forced to sleep on the floor of the lobby for that night. At 7am, the first employee arrived, and was shocked to see us sleeping on the floor of the lobby. When we explained our situation, she called the manager/owner of the establishment for the special key to unlock the door. The business did not have that key available on the site. The employees was then forced to bang on the door, awakening the other guests and asking them to open the door. It was only then were we able to finally gain access to the common area that led to our room door. After the incident I spoke directly with employees who then spoke with the manager/owner to provide some sort of refund due to the hotel's negligence (unavailability to solve our problem, giving guests access to a door that can only be locked from the inside, and not having the key available on site).There was little empathy from the manager/owner to amend this problem. The employees had an idea of which guest locked the door from the inside, so their plan was to have that guest confess then have them pay the price of our 1 night that we were locked out. But when approached, the guest claimed that they did not lock the door. The employees told us that there was nothing else that they could do since the room was booked for two days, I would have to pay the FULL price of the stay despite the fact that we weren't even in the room for the days I booked and were sleeping the LOBBY FLOOR. I was highly disappointed in how my case was handled and especially the little to no care that the owner gave when he was told about our case (in front of us, in person). This was my first and last time staying at a hostel-like establishment and my LAST time EVER staying at iHouse Chin Chin.
- seayaaa (8/5): Real Home, Best breakfast ever :) - I stayed in this guesthouse for 3 nights with friends when we visited Seoul last week ago, we booked the triple room and fortunately the room is located on 2nd floor convenient to us to moving the luggage up and down when check in and check out since seems like there is no elevator be installed in building. The staffs were nice and they kindly allowed us to did early check in. The room is clean and cozy, there is one 3ft bed and bunk bed for others, the upstairs seems a bit high and steep, need to be careful when you step up or down but the mattress and and the blanket are warm and cozy made us slept tight and well during our stay. One more thing I want to suggest the owner is the curtain in shower room, it should be longer enough to cover the mirror wall of the room. Excepting some inconvenient points about the bunk bed and restroom we really enjoyed our stay in I-house Chin Chin. We would love to revisit the guesthouse for our next trip in Seoul for sure. :)

The wording in the Expedia page should specify that the "simple complementary breakfast" offered is only for guests staying on the second floor and not on the third floor. The plus side is that the staff was vere nice and the place is in a quiet neighborhood.
- LynK182 (8/5): Cosy Stay - Pretty good experience. The boss has an eye for details. The boy receptionist was really helpful. :) The ladies receptionist were also very friendly except not very thoughtful on small things like coffee needs to come with sugar. Every day I need to request for sugar :( The housekeeper forgot to clean up our room on one of the days and I guess is because we had our breakfast at 10am sharp that morning. :( Note breakfast was from 8am to 10am. For those who are particular, do remember to bring your own bath towels coz the house keeper don't change it at all. Only one set is provided throughout the stay. Also, buy bottled waters. They only provide one bottle each. Overall, the whole stay was ok. I will go back again but do give regular feedback when the boss is around. He will make things right immediately. Thumbs up!!!

- Jenny (8/5): Comfort and mondern - Our room was really simple, but it felt it your home. Had our privacy, but the staff was always there to help if you needed them. There's minimal house keeping so you pretty do it yourself, but can request for any needs through the staff. Rooms were clean and the floors had the ondeul system (heated floors). Overall a great experience, just wish it wasn't at the end of an alley.
- Carol (8/5): - We stayed in the family suite. Very large and spacious. Only downside was the bed. It was a big comforter blanket on top of a wood frame. I don't mind sleeping on a hard surface but I would have much preferred a traditional Korean matt as they are much thicker.
- xi_claire (10/5): Memorable Stay! - My boyfriend and I stayed at writer's room for 4 nights. We tried taking bus no.6 from Hongik station for the first time we arrived but somehow got off the bus couple of stops before. Though still it was easy to find the place with the instructions that was given to us before hand. The place was nothing but full of artistic things and friendly atmosphere. Comfy beds, big TV, high speed internet made it possible for us to have cozy movie nights. We also enjoyed being outside on the bench and table looking up the moon and stars with a cup of wine in our hand. Also since I am a cooking lover, I wanted to cook while I was staying at the place. There are little shared kitchen and when I needed something extra such as frying pan, plates and some kitchen utensils, staffs were happy to let me borrow their tools from kitchen downstairs. iHouse chin chin is a true home away from home and I would love to stay there again when I go back to Hongdae :) Hace un par de semanas, tuve la dichosa oportunidad de pasar un fin de semana en la casa huésped, iHouse Chin Chin. No dudaría ni un segundo volver a este lugar y vivir otra experiencia memorable. 初めての韓国旅行の際に4泊ほど宿泊しました。 弘大入口駅の2番出口から徒歩で15分程の静かな住宅街に位置するiHouse Chin Chinはデザイナーズアパートメントのような雰囲気の漂うきれいなゲストハウスでした！毎朝ジャズ音楽が響き渡るラウンジにて、とても美味しい朝ごはん(フレンチトースト、サンドウィッチ等)をオーナーさん、もしくはスタッフの方が用意してくれ、紅茶・コーヒー・オレンジジュースと一緒に楽しむことが出来ました。日本から持ってきた材料で料理をしようと2階のシェアキッチンを使用した際には、既にある食器や調理器具では足りなかったのでスタッフの方に声をかけると、快く１階のキッチンから貸して下さいました。 大きいTVと高速インターネットのおかげで夜は部屋でくつろぎながら映画を観ることも可能でした：） 韓国はトイレの水圧が非常に弱いため、トイレットペーパーを流すことができません。その点だけはどこに宿泊しても要注意だと思います。 また韓国を訪れた際にはぜひ宿泊をしたいと思わせてくれる、快適で非常に素晴らしいゲストハウスでした！
- Abee (10/5): Nice place. Near Hongdae area - Our room is the Deluxe Family Suite on the 3rd floor. It's very pretty, exactly like the pictures. Although we hadn't had the chance to use the 2nd storey because it was too hot (the AC doesn't reach that area), overall, it was daebak! The only downside is the fact that there are no elevators and we have heavy luggage. But overall, it was a great experience and a great place to stay at. It's only a walk away or a bus ride away (if you're too tired to walk) from Hongik University Station. Hongdae area is a very youthful place, lots of singing and performing, lots of shops to buy from, and lots of cafes and restaurants.
- Michified (8/5): As trendy as the neighborhood - iHouse Chinchin is a wonderful guesthouse located in the neighborhood of Hongdae. If you want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Myeongdong and would love to stay somewhere quiet, Hongdae is the perfect place for you. The house is about 15 minutes away from Hongik University subway station (line 2, exit 2). You can walk from exit 2, or take bus number 06 from there. There is a nearby grocery store and lots of restaurants, bars and shops within the area that are open until midnight. The house looks lovely and homey in its minimalistic industrial interiors. The owner Ki Chul is an artist so you'll notice how everything seems so well put together. We booked the Writer's Room which was small (really just good enough for two people) but well-decorated and very clean. The room doesn't have a closet but it won't bother you that much if you’re only staying for a few days. Loves breakfast? If yes, then you’ll love it here. The food is yummy, its presentation nice, and freshly-made juice and coffee is also served. You’ll feel like you’re having breakfast at a restaurant. On top of it all, he plays music while you eat. Just a nice little touch, but it adds so much value to Ki Chul’s service. Also, have I mentioned how techy this place is? The front gate and room doors can be opened and closed with just a few taps from an iPhone. Ki Chul will download the app for you upon check-in. Very cool, right? Just a tip though, be sure to inform Ki Chul of your daily schedule so he would know what time to prepare breakfast. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay at iHouse ChinChin. Highly recommendable!

- Nico6970 (10/5): Surprisingly nice - Cool guesthouse, nice design, nice people. On the mood with Hongdae district. THe deisng is made of steel, wood and glass, which is very relaxing to me. The place was still in work when I got there (probably doing additional rooms), so it will get even better. A little bit tricky to find but people from guest house give you good indications, and in the end it makes the place being quite, because away from town traffic.

Though the room is a bit tiny , there are things that all we want such as hairdryer, fridge and a big TV. The feeling of living in the room is so comfortable and we all had sweet dream there. The host is so friendly and he cooked delicious breakfast for us :) He is also a gentleman , he helped us to take our heavy luggages downstairs. The location of iHouse ChinChin is very near local residents so the environment so quiet and nothing disturb us and it is also so convenient to reach there by Bus at the hongdik uni. station. Overall , it is worth to live here
- Derikulous (10/5): Gorgeous, Quiet home away from home - If you want an awesome home to go back to from a tiring day in Seoul, this is the place. Breakfast is incredible, staff is very helpful, and always excited. The other guests in the guest house were cordial and had many nice breakfast conversations. If you want an aesthetic that you cannot find in any hotels, this is the place. Ki Chul is the best!

The host was very friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. The rooms and building itself were very modern, and is being improved right now! I recommend this guest house as it is close to Hongdae (by bus), and easily accessible. The owner made our last night very special, and our last breakfast at the guest house was great. Although, breakfast is always very delicious :) The owner and his staff are all very kind people. Some one was always there to help, and nothing was too much trouble for him. I would definitely stay here again!

- Sabdenrog (10/5): Superb stay - A cup of tea to welcome us and a demonstration of the apple TV installed in each room, and here we are in the Chin Chin Guesthouse (alias ihouse). The commun room is enough to understand the atmosphere of the house : everything is design and well organise, add with the charm of the light. The breakfast is serve by the owner himself, and it's always enough to satisfied us : bread, butter, jams, milk, coffee, juices, several type of tea, ham, fruits...! The rooms itself have a very good standing. All the necessary is there to have a perfect stay.
