Guest Reviews
- lucia (7/5): - We enjoyed the food, the environment, beautiful calming place. I enjoy visiting this particular lodge whenever I am back in the country. The male restaurant staff were rude when asked to clean the table that had dirty plates and food on when we wanted to sit and eat breakfast. They took their time to clean the table. I had to ask them more than once they only cleaned when I said I would ask for their manager and the night before in the restaurant again the male staff there messed up our orders. So I didn't tip them because of that. Other than that other staff were friendly and nice.
- Nancy (5/5): Just ok. - The gardens Old furniture and fittings
- KCH (3/5): Views are excellent but the rooms and entertainment were disappointing. - The location was excellent with fantastic views. Staff were polite and helpful. The rooms looked tired and lacked maintenance. The bathroom tap sprayed water all over the place when turned on. The ceiling in the bathroom was dirty, and the shower was unadjustable even though it had a lever for doing so.There were building renovations going on next to the restaurant and the dust and noise made sitting on the terrace uncomfortable. There was no wifi and the only entertainment available in the rooms was pre-recorded netflix programs.
- Margaret (8/5): - The facilities ,the ambience and the cleanliness There was not much activities available just the Boat cruise
- Victor (2/5): The place does not look as clean as last time i was there - nothing much There was no activities what so ever. it did not feel loke a holidy
- Bettina (8/5): -
- njungu (8/5): very Restful and Relaxing - The pool area was nice especially at night, it was quiet and the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was tasty and filling Our TV did not work
- Ashley (4/5): Not as I expected but ok - The lake views are beautiful, the landscape is top notch The room service is not top notch, the rooms are a bit off, the breakfast is not upto what I expected, the place is still alive it needs revamping,
- Lasse (10/5): Overraskende deilig resort! - Vakker beliggenhet, fine rom, hyggelig personale
- Ntombi (7/5): great relaxing visit - breakfast was great. several options but had pay for the cappuccino. the bathroom. small shower space
- Christian (5/5): - Very nice place Leaving early the last day we were offer a breackfast pack for the morning.
The night before we left we were told we wont have it.??????????
- Rolien (8/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): A good place to relax, but one needs to be mindful of the season when to get there. In the summer it can be very hot. - Nice Location, serenity and tranquil. Give you an opportunity to see and be on lake Kariba and visit the Dam wall. Lack of live television, lack of telephone between the rooms and the reception.
- Esther (10/5): -
- Lindokuhle (8/5): -
- Evans (8/5): Enjoyed my stay and boat cruise was awesome - It was perfect, nice and fresh Ambiance and cleanliness to the point
- Nsalange (8/5): Lake Safari Siavonga a place to visit - The environment Food taking longer to be served than the expected time
- John (9/5): - Great breakfast, but only instant coffee. One has to pay extra for real coffee...
- Habwiinga (9/5): It was beautiful - The location was very convenient to other places we wanted to visit and also the environment was nicely calm not forgetting the awesome breakfast 😊
- Moonga (8/5): -
- Kelvin (8/5): It was decent. I would go again. Siavonga generally lacks activities but is okay for a relaxing stay away from the city. - Nice like views, a lot of green and garden to relax. Two swimming pools for residents and a decent gym A lot of steps (stairs). Not easy to move around for someone with physical challenges. Food orders took minimum of 1 hour to be served.
- RoamingStom (8/5): Ok, but not ok - had a generally mixed experience during my stay. The rooms are very spacious and were kept clean throughout, which was a definite highlight. However, the property does require some maintenance. The outdoor air-conditioning unit was extremely noisy, one of the mini fridges in the room was not working, and the number of power sockets was quite limited. During a windy rain, the doors felt unstable, almost as if they could be blown open.
Dining was inconsistent—on some days the chef delivered very good meals, while on others the experience was average. The kitchen staff and other service staff were generally polite and helpful.
Unfortunately, the reception service fell short. My booking was not confirmed until I personally called for three consecutive days, which was frustrating. At check-out, there was no acknowledgment or thanks for my stay, which left a poor final impression. Customer service at reception clearly needs improvement to match the standard of the other staff.
- Jonas. C (9/5): - Water front room
- PRASAD (8/5): -
- Leo (1/5): - Nothing. Very bad communication Ddnt like everything.
- TENDAI (10/5): - Very refreshing views of Lake Kariba. All round views were excellent 👌
- BRIAN (5/5): Clean place, nice view of the lake. - Room very clean.beddings and towels were very clean. Very nice view of the lake. Couldnt watch news, but had access to a good number of recorded movies.
My room was not well ventilated.
Breakfast options were few.
I didnt find the staff to be customer centric - I had to remind staff to restock beverage in my room and on day 1 my breakfast order was forgotten.
- Albert (6/5): -
- Geoffrey (10/5): -
- Constance (10/5): The pipo were so good and friendly excellent - It was clean and beautiful I loved everything
- mandyZ463YW (6/5): My Zambian hospitality experience - There is need to have a directory of reliable transport operators or a shuttle especially for foreign visitors. A cab driver was recommended to us by one of the staff members and he duped us, which dampened our experience a bit. When we checked in on the first day we were placed in one of the back staff rooms without even a functional tv, the windows could not be closed and it had old furnishings. We had to request for a different room then we were moved the next day. Please don't take bookings if you are fully booked. The staff was very friendly and the food was divine.
- Gareth (9/5): Highly recommended. - Fantastic location.
V helpful staff.
Excellent value restaurant. Our bathrooms were in need of some maintenance. A bit on the smelly side but not so much that it really interferes with our enjoyment.
- Salasini (1/5): - The view of the water only. Rooms were very old fashioned, and bathrooms were dirty and shower drains were clogged, , no Television, and there was a dump and humid smell
- Chitsulo (8/5): Beautiful stay, friendly staff and good food. - Breakfast is limited like my son doesn't eat pork so they had to do little beef sausage and the Cup and Saucers are damaged which I think should be thrown away or given to staff to take to their homes.i did express that.
Overall good friendly staff and place. Communication needs to be improved, interns of house keeping if we need something to be done.
- Deborah (8/5): They food was delicious and the location is superb. - The view and food. No tooth paste
- Samukelisiwe (9/5): Superb -
- Dann (9/5): Superb -
- Eunice (9/5): blue beautiful waters and the moon on the waters - it's a beautiful place nothing was not likeable
- Marthie (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely Wonderful !!!!
It was our wedding anniversary and with our surprise they upgraded our room !!! What a view! What a treat!! Thank you for a absolutely amazing stay !!! And thankyou for your warm welcome 🙏
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Kunda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mwananduba (8/5): Very good - The breakfast was excellent The other meals ( lunch & dinner) were average
- Christine (3/5): Poor - Pool Could not go for seconds for buffet. Toilet seat broken and no light in bathroom. Very outdated rooms.
- Kruger (8/5): Very good -
- Paidamwoyo (6/5): Pleasant - Prices for food is quite reasonable
The staff is very attentive and friendly
The food was well prepared
Check in and check out was good. Quick service offered
the presence of security on site was really assuring. The staff seemed to be overwhelmed on the 31st of December though they did their best. The breakfast had limited options for vegetarians
The Wi-Fi is very slow. Not suitable if you want to do business during your stay at the hotel.
There are limited activities for kids. Only the pool and boat cruise.
- Susan (8/5): Very pleasant relaxing vacation - Very nice location overlooking Lake. Having 2 swimming pools is a bonus as hotel was full during my stay. Breakfast buffet has many choices. Room was huge and comfortable. Audrey at reception is very helpful. 15 minute slow walk to shops. I enjoyed my stay very much. Gym is very well equipped, however only one of the 2 rooms had air-con on so working out was hot.
- Caroline (8/5): Good but kitchen services we had a bad experience - It was good The issue of telling us to order pizza, burgers and raps for dinner was a very bad idea, during a festive season learn to close lunch by 14hrs to prepare for dinner and not serving main meals throughout, that made the kitchen to be overwhelmed and alot of us complained to the supervisor on duty .th food was being served after 2hrs plus that is not good. One Zimbabwean lady even mentioned her nationality that maybe that was the reason why. When you have too many people do buffet and ala carte mixed nt just ala carte ,it was so bad ,very bad indeed. Please this should be looked into once you have too many people around.
- Jaswant (6/5): Overpriced - food was good, drinks choice was also good. Service from staff was poor, sometimes waiting for over 20 minutes for service. sometimes food ordered was not what was ordered. room toilet seat was missing.
- Mwila (6/5): Generally our stay was good - Customer care was excellent Stuff at the restaurant seemed uosent minded and unfriendly
- Mangena (7/5): Good - Facilities, food( the chef is excellent!).
Understanding staff,I lost my father and had to waiver part of my stay, was allowed, thank you! Noise especially early in the morning loud boats. Waiters took time to return with requested items.
- Graj (10/5): Great location with lake view, very good restaurant and 2 swimming pools - I strongly recommend - Great location with lake view, very good restaurant and 2 swimming pools. We enjoyed allot No issues noticed
- Chipo (10/5): Exceptional - The food was nice
The environment conducive
The room was exquisite
The staff were very kind and professional The jacuzzi in the room was faulty
The food was a little expensive and didn't see any VFM
The swimming pool was under maintenance, with the heat, one pool was not enough to cater for all guests.
- Fredrick (8/5): Relaxing - Lake view and the lovely cool breeze in my Room. Well maybe just the little insects but the room had pesticides
- yzabal611850 (10/5): Quiet, calm, fairly large hotel - Quiet, calm, fairly large hotel on the lake, good restaurant. Great breakfast. We were very helpful there - they found a mechanic for our car, which broke down on the way. The payment policy is a bit strange - at first we thought that the hotel had written off 100% of the price, but it turned out to be only half. At night, there was something rustling in the room, obviously some small animal)
- Kunda (10/5): It was a pleasant stay, very refreshing. Definitely visiting again - The service, location, the view and food was amazing Nothing, I had a great time
- Fiona (10/5): - I loved my stay at Lake Safari Lodge. The rooms were very comfortable with a nice seating area outside with great views of the lake. The grounds are beautiful- full of flowers and trees and with lots of seating from where you can admire different views of the lake. The view from the infinity pool is stunning. Lovely buffet breakfast with a great selection - the fruit platter is a work of art ! But most of all it was the friendliness of the staff which made my stay. From the owner to the waiting staff everyone made me feel welcome which is particularly appreciated when you are a solo traveller. Thank you all .
- Zivanai (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kabwe (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (7/5): Clean environment and rooms, attitude of restaurant staff not impressive. - Clean environment Poor customer service by restaurant staff especially waiters. Menu is limited we had to go to the sister lodge to get some variety, and most of the things on the menu were unavailable. My kids settled for Pizza half the time.
- Anaene (6/5): Pleasant - The jacuzzi was not working.. The was stuffy. The view from the room was beautiful.
- Paidamwoyo (8/5): We had a lovely stay. I highly recommend the place. - The breakfast had varieties. Well prepared. The only misgiving was that brewed coffee was charged separately. It was not part of the bed and breakfast package. Housekeeping did not replace the drying towels after cleaning the room. We had to make requests.
- Wendy (10/5): - Stunning lakeside views from my room. Staff were attentive helpful. I’ve stayed here once before and will make it my hotel of choice each time I return
- mungavitowe (8/5): Beautiful weekend - Stayed here with my 1 year old daughter for a weekend, the place is nice. I loved the view of the lake on my balcony. The staff were helpful and we really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended
- RachelsKitchen (10/5): Great stay - Lake Safari Lodge is a wonderful place to stay in Siavonga. We had a great time by the pool, eating the lovely food (there's something for everyone) and the views over the lake are incredible. We had a 180 degree view of the lake from our bedroom.
The coffee is also the best I've had in Zambia, and we took back coffee beans to have at home.
- Kumbirayi (10/5): Great stay - The place is very clean, the cleaners respond to any incidents very quickly. The internet is great too and the people here very friendly and smiling willing to help. I loved the fishing boats in Jake Kariba
- 899miltons (8/5): Nicely supprised - Travelled for a family vacation with other couples towards end of March 2024 during holidays. We were received well with the reception staff making us feel at home.
The rooms were very clean and tidy. The food was very good and surroundings very appealing.
They have two nice swimming pools-one for guests and another for the general public. Somehow water is warmer in the evening and it was very enjoyable swimming in the evening.
Enjoyed a private sunset cruise organised by the lodge. It was beautiful-the highlight of our stay.
Our kids had a lot of fan.
We were nicely supprised!!!
The photos on the website do not tell half the story.
- Clive (5/5): Passable -
- Edna (7/5): Good - The rooms were spacious and view was really nice One of the managers (South African gentleman) tried to charge me a different rate than what I was seeing on booking.com. when I tried to reason with him, stating that usually we pay the price we see on booking.com, he told me that terms and conditions apply for them to use their own calculation of the daily rate. He was rude and told me he was only doing me a favour by giving me the change and he wasn't supposed to charge me what I saw on booking.com but what they charge in-house based on daily exchange rate. I got my money but the rude guy(manager in charge if booking.com) was the worst experience of all my trips I've made to Lake Safari and Siavonga at large.
Clients on expedia and booking.com must be extra careful not to feel like someone is doing them.a favour when the price quoted on the booking shows exactly what a client ought to pay.
- Mwenya (6/5): Underwhelming and very disappointed with waiting staff - I loved the breakfast options Overall service was poor, slow with unrepentant waiting staff. They treated us like they were doing us a favour.
We had made reservations 2 weeks before and l would assume that gives the lodge enough time to prepare, however the TV had to reset daily through our stay there, they only have two sets of towels per room that needed to be washed daily( very peculiar for a lodge that size and amounts charged), the bathrooms kept flooding due to poor drainage and the aircon stopped working in one room and we had to change rooms the next day on account of this. Its doesn't make sense to ask for reservations then not prepare adequately for guests when they do arrive and on top of that be insistent on being paid.
Frankly the whole experience could have been much better, considering the upgrades having been done to the place, but it really wasn't.
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- T365ZAMronv (8/5): A et experience in a beautiful location - Had a great stay in this majestic location overlooking the beautiful lake. Sadly we had lots of rain whilst we were there but that did not put a damper on our stay. The food was ok but I would recommend Kariba Inns for a great meal. The owners are super friendly and helpful and always around to offer assistance.
- Dianah66 (6/5): Pleasant - Very good view. I want to cancel the booking because my car is not ready, I contacted the reception table and asked for a refund, the reception lady said they cant issue the refund
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Edwin (5/5): Miserable - The breakfast is good. That's the only they are good at. Lunch and dinner were too expensive for nothing. The waitresses were unprofessional it took me more than an hour to serve me a drink. Despite me going to the counter and making a follow-up. I expected the hotel to arrange a live band and fireworks on New Year's Eve.
- Ron (7/5): Generally a great place to stay. - Check in and amenities in room need to be checked before guests arrive. We had to ask for things. Geyser was not on for first day. The staff in restaurant spoke back to customers and did not know what was on menu. Some serious training required. Wine bottles opened before they got to our table.
- ras696896 (8/5): Majestic Views - Lake Safari Lodge is a majestic place to stay in Siavonga. In terms of rooms, views and location it is excellent. We arrived on 26 December and sadly the room had no water or coffees and milks upon arrival. They did bring it to us once we said something. Then when we went to take a jacuzzi the geyser was off and no hot water was available that first night. This was rectified on day 2. The service in restaurant certainly needs some upgrading. The waiters are uninformed and speak back to customers when we specifically requested to speak to a manager. Wine bottles were opened before they arrived at our table. The food was average and I did expect better. Lake Kariba Inns is a far better place to eat with friendly, informed waiters and waitresses.Generally I would recommend Lake Safari Lodge as a place of choice in Siavonga and I would return. They just need to work on the restaurant service to get that back to standard. The room service however was good. If you are looking for a place with majestic views and clean rooms, Lake Safari Lodge is a great place to stay. If you place your preferences on culinary delights however, I would look elsewhere. The management are super friendly and willing to help as much as possible if the waiters were just willing to call them.
- D (9/5): Superb - Excellent food.
Excellent hospitality
- Veronica (9/5): Superb - Rooms were very clean, food was good and very wide variety. Did not and could not watch any TV at all.
- Melody (8/5): Great family friendly place - Spectacular views of the lake from your room with a beautiful garden. Large comfortable bed. Also loved the pool. Hearty buffet breakfast included as part of the room. Staff very helpful. Family friendly. Price of room is more than the room facilities provided. Only got one bath towel and a smaller towel for a 2-person room. Shower gel/shampoo refill bottles not labelled and not refilled daily. No lotion. No baby cots available (told they were broken). Second pool needs some maintenance.
- Emily (2/5): The views are amazing, but I will not recommend Lake Safari Lodge to anyone. - The location is the best and only thing Lake Safari Lodge as going for it. If it weren't for the location and views, this would be a less than average lodge. The lodge is wayyyyy overpriced for the amenities and services offered. The services are on par with those offered at a one or two star roadside lodge but for the price of a four star international hotel. For $160/night, you do not get any toiletries in the room and only one bottle of water for your entire stay. The room furnishings are extremely basic and the restaurant service is poor. Expect to wait 45-minutes to an hour for anything you order, including beverages.
- James (5/5): Beautiful location and great scenery - Excellent breakfast The towels were not comfortable.
- Onias (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wendy (8/5): I will definitely stay again - very obliging staff sometimes coffee not so well prepared
- Rebecca (7/5): I loved siavonga - Stunning location. Rooms were huge with a big comfortable bed. Air con was great. Staff were very friendly. Bathroom needs to be updated. It’s dreadful for the price charged. Rooms could do with updating a bit to make them more comfortable.
- Melissa (10/5): Spectacular getaway on Lake Kariba - The rooms were beautiful and the view was spectacular. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was delicious. Would go back in a heartbeat. Nothing....it was all perfect.
- Muntuumo (7/5): Great views and great food, but the rooms are not worth the rates. - Great breakfast and exceptional location. The landscape, garden and view of the lake is amazing. The restaurant additionally has many great options. The rooms leave much to be desired, with old, damaged furniture and doors. For the price point, I had expected better and updated room furnishings.
- Elshafiee (5/5): Passable - Quality is not enough against price
- Kerry (7/5): Mixed bag of good and bad. - The view was absolutely beautiful. It was better than expected. The pool was great. The extra decor provided was excellent. The A/C in our assigned room wasn't working. We got switched to another room after the A/C started working. The A/C unit in the 2nd room was better, but still not functioning as it should.
The charge for the lunch and dinner buffets was way too high for what was provided. We wouldn't have eaten lunch and dinner at the lodge, but there are no other places to go nearby.
- Owen (7/5): Good -
- Giovanna (8/5): Very good -
- Goret (10/5): The staff of the hotel is amazing, very kind and helpful and the hotel wonderful -
- Kalinda (8/5): Very good -
- Ahmed (5/5): Passable -
- Dora (8/5): Very good -
- Jubilee (10/5): it was very good - very nice nothing
- Josephine (9/5): Superb -
- Lois (7/5): Good -
- Lulu (4/5): I did not enjoy my stay because I had to drive to a nearby lodge for food - The rooms met my expectations..the breakfast was ok. They subjected us to a buffet in the evening, their food is not up to standard compared to other lodges in the area. The manager who attended to us on the second night was quite rude.
- Jerry (10/5): Exceptional - All was good as the reception are welcome. There is good chilling air and the view to the dam is fantastic Nothing
