Guest Reviews
- Alex (5/5): - Stayed here for one night after a gig; it was dreading it after reading the reviews but it wasn't as bad as I was led to expect.
The bed was clean and reasonably comfy, so ultimately this was the saving grace for this place. Unlike other reviews, I saw no evidence of bug infestations.
For £40 a night in zone 2, I would stay here again if I found myself in the same situation (it would pretty far down the list though to be fair). Arrived around 5pm to find one of the reception staff sleeping on the lobby sofa and another scrolling at the other end of the room. The service at this place is as basic as the facilities and equally unwelcoming, however I wouldn't call it rude. If you're an introvert like me, who appreciates quick and to the point interactions, then it won't be an issue. If you're a stickler for good service or planning a stay for more than one night, I would probably stay elsewhere.
The room was advertised with a fridge and a TV, neither of which worked. The room was also very warm, however there was a fan which was welcome. The fan also had the welcome effect of drowning out the bear constant noise of the staff chatting in the reception area under my room (114) and doors closing at all hours.
I did have my own bathroom (although that may be an overstatement given the size of it). The bathroom was essentially a wet room cupboard at the corner of the room which contained a shower and a toilet, although I imagine it would be hard to sit on the loo with the door shut as your knees need to go somewhere, so I'm glad I was there on my own. In addition to this, there was a disgusting smell from the drains, luckily that could be contained by closing the door. I'm glad I was there for only one night and didn't need to shower, as smell and the state of the grouting/sink put me off that idea.
There are also no cups or drinks facilities of any kind in the room, however I did see these downstairs in the lobby room.
In summary, incredibly basic accommodation; the spark has clearly long gone from the owners and the attention to detail is non existent (with multiple maintenance issues and a clear lack of care and attention).
- raza (8/5): - The receptionist Waqas was really helpful. Location. It's hard to reach far from the train station.
(1/5): My stay was very disappointing due to the small space, noise, and lack of respect for guests. - In the pictures, the room looks quite big, but in reality it’s not like that at all. The toilet and shower are very small and not enough for two people. Much, much, much too messy, and there is a lot of noise at night — you can barely sleep. The reception area is always crowded, and people talk very loudly without respect for the people staying there. I could barely sleep, I swear!
- Khan (9/5): Good Budget Hotel - Good budget stay overall and conveniently located close to restaurants, shops, and a mosque, which made the area very comfortable and convenient. I had booked a single room but was pleasantly allocated a double room instead. The hotel itself is basic and could benefit from some improvements, particularly with the WiFi and bathroom setup, but for the price and location it served its purpose well during my London trip.
- Ken (5/5): It's fine for one night. - The room was clean (but the shower/toilet did smell musty), the bed was comfortable, and it was very-very QUIET, which was lovely. It's just run down. The shower head attachment was broken, so the shower head could just fall to the floor; you wouldn't want it landing on your foot.
The fan was noisy, the fan plug was just taped up (replacing it would cost very little), the TV remote control didn't work, and the toilet/shower area smelled musty. I suspect water is getting into places it shouldn't and rotting the building materials.
Each room needs a close inspection and some basic maintenance carried out.
- Tyler (5/5): -
- Samuele (6/5): - Location is great. The hotel is placed in a street full of restaurants and shops, also it is rellay close to the bus stop and 15 minutes by walk to the underground station. The cleaniness of the room wasn't really good and the room itself was placed below the ground level, so there was no natural light coming in.
Also, the bathroom was really small but at least not shared.
- Lydia (1/5): Vile. Never again. - It was absolutely shocking. Disgusting from top to bottom , unkept and unclean. Staff are arrogant and rude. The building is filthy from top to bottom the minute you walk in the building it stinks and it’s unkept and unclean. Staff are awful. We even had to go and buy our own cleaning products before we used anything in the room.
- Tracy (1/5): Disappointing - Awful Everything
- Foyez (5/5): -
- Chris (8/5): - Have visited a couple of times before, and as i found the staff and location very nice, I have stayed again while in town

- Dr Ahmed Hassan (1/5): - The whole property is dirty , I couldn’t stay one minute , I asked them to refund at least my money back since I am leaving
They didn’t ! And I left without paying me anything
Walls are dirty , carpets are absolutely disgusting
A nasty smell flying in the air , no ventilation

Lovely being in the east London area, and the famous Roman Road Market.
- Chris (8/5): - Good place with the local area, everything you need is near by, market is just outside,
Staff are very nice and helpful 👍
- Lawrence (10/5): - The environment and proximity The toilets positioning. They should be on all levels please

- MD SHARIFUL (8/5): -

- Gregoire (1/5): Everything was crap. dont go there - Nothing Stinky, dirty and uncomfortable. Poor sound isolation its like the wall is made of cardboard. Basically they turned their basement into a hotel but it dosent work like that.

- Jakaria (8/5): -
- Chris (1/5): Would never use again - Nothing Everything
- Mercedes (1/5): AVOID AT ALL COSTS. - Place was filthy and stunk of mould. Gap under door, walls falling apart, air con was a fan! Dodgy bloke living in front bedroom on mattress on the floor, staff kept us up all night outside the window then were asleep in the lobby in the morning. No parking due to market which wasn't explained. I dont know how a place like this is allowed to stay open.
- Char (2/5): Just spend a bit more and get a better place if you want to visit London as this as not a vibe . - The staff who were working decided to have a bbq directly outside my room and were soooo loud till around half 2 in the morning … on a Wednesday evening. Got no sleep and the room stunk of cooked meat … I’m vegetarian.
When Leaving , the staff member meant to be attending the front desk was later down asleep on the sofa.
- Tomasz (5/5): -
- Heidi (1/5): - We did not feel safe in hotel, we didn't stay in the hotel for any longer than about half an hour while I booked a different hotel. I would not recommend this hotel.
- Mohammad (1/5): -
- Emmanouil (2/5): Just don’t go - Nothing If you respect yourself, just book a room somewhere else. As the saying goes, first impressions matter, and this hotel (if you can even call it that) is the perfect example. The moment we stepped into the reception, we could smell cannabis smoke. Yes, inside the reception area, in an enclosed space.
They checked us in and gave us a room that also smelled of smoke (probably cigarettes). The room was awful, and the walls were dirtier than an exterior wall. We asked to change rooms, and they moved us to one that was visibly a bit cleaner, but still absolutely unacceptable to be rented to guests.
We stayed for three nights only because it was last minute and during the New Year period, so finding something else was nearly impossible. The smell in the reception was constant, and on the couch next to the entrance there was usually a guy sleeping (lying down without shoes), who we later realized was also an employee.
Every time we passed through the reception, we would politely say “hello,” and they wouldn’t even bother to respond. Stay away, even if it means paying a bit more elsewhere. People like this need to learn to respect their guests, especially since no one stays for free.
- Cindy (6/5): -

- Michaela (3/5): - The hotel bed was clean good at night so loud I couldn’t sleep at all !! Absolutely horrid never again !! Guys if u want a good sleep avoid it asap !
- Midhat (7/5): -
- Christopher (1/5): Awful - No sink in the room. Damp and brown marks on the ceiling, heating was constantly on and didn't turn off. Had to go upstairs for a shower and the shower smelled, the shower curtain was so disgusting it had mould on it.
Toilet was upstairs.
Also there was constant yelling and shouting from someone in one of the rooms, that appeared to live at the hotel. So at 1/2 in the morning there was yelling and shouting.
- Chinedu (1/5): -
- Stewart (5/5): -
- Owen (10/5): Perfection. - Everything was the best hotel i have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Maybe it was too clean 🤷♂️

- Calgici (1/5): -
- bindra (5/5): - Room privacy Staff
- Ben (1/5): - Nothing This place shud not be on booking.com is more like a half way house place is filthy dirty with people hanging all round the lobby we didnt even stay checked in went to our room then left 15 mins later and went to Premier inn also you have to leave key room at desk when you leave the hotel which allows them access too all your stuff which unacceptable also rooms are full of mould and filthy dirty with broken cupboards and rubbish outside the window.
- Bryan (8/5): - Check in any time, great value, decent pubs, restaurants, gym and supermarket nearby. Quite a long walk to the nearest tube, but well served by bus routes
- Cody-Lee (5/5): -
- Brahim (1/5): when I first booked the room on line they said £53 and when arrived the staff asked me to pay £59 like a robbery - absolutely no thing dirty and no professionalism
- gary (5/5): You get what you pay for. - The location and the price. Very stained carpets, not able to open window, squeaky beds and dirty shared bathroom.
- Marti (10/5): - The staff are spot on, really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed playing a few games of chess with the staff. We booked a room with a private bathroom but we ended up having to use the shared one.
- Tobias (7/5): -
- Péter (7/5): -
- Hale (1/5): - To hot at to sort your own tea and coffee the bathroom was horrible
- Edward (2/5): Ok location. Reasonably priced but would not stay again - Good location for an event in Victoria Park, but I would not stay again.
They are improving the hotel but it is very dirty.
That said the bed and sheets were clean , apart from a pillow case had a stain
Free tea and coffee but not obvious , we had to ask The bathroom had black mould on the ceiling and the “privacy “ window to the bathroom some had had scratched the paint off to try and see through
Carpets and flooring very dirty and a damp smell in the room
- carl (8/5): -
- DAVID (7/5): -
- Saul (8/5): -
- Barbara (6/5): - Property was 1/2 hour bus ride from London.
- omer (6/5): -
- Claire (6/5): Was ok for a brief stay - Room was ok - clean sheets and beds were comfy however the hotel overall is abit run down and needs work - some of the skirting was taped on with brown packing tape, and lots of marks on the walls etc, could do with a lick of paint, also our room was in the basement and smelt abit damp! However saying that we only wanted somewhere cheap to sleep as we were out at concert and didn’t get back to our room till midnight and we were up and out by 10am so for that purpose and for what we paid for the room it was fine , staff were friendly!
- Scott (6/5): Cheap and cheerful - Cheap, had a fan, clean, comfortable bed Had a fridge in the room.but the door was disconnected completely so unusable but wasnt really an issue.
- Valerie (5/5): Cheap, basic and usually comfortable but check facilities as they are very variable between rooms. - I have used this hotel several times before when I have visited my son and his family as it is ten minutes walk from their home. The hotel is basic, cheap and comfortable and suitable for somewhere to stay overnight. Location and price have been my main reasons for choosing this hotel in the past. I visited twice in one week, before and after a flight. In the past I have always had a ground floor bedroom with ensuite
and did on my first night. On my second visit I had a twin bedroom in the basement, down steep stairs to a very dingy setting. The shared bathroom was on the floor above and had no shower. I may have missed this detail when booking but I have always had a comfortable room in the past. I am in my eighties so having to use the stairs to use the bathroom wasn't good, neither was the lack of shower which I was looking forward to after a flight back to London.
- Michaela (1/5): Noch nie so schlecht geschlafen!!
- Anthony (1/5): Bad -
- Joshua (1/5): Bad -
- Jonathan (1/5): Bad -
- Verified traveler (6/5): The price reflects the standard. - This was a cheap hotel for London and the standard of accomodation reflects the pricing. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet enough. The bathroom pod was very small. There was a heat wave so it was very hot. There was a fan and we could open the windows on our second floor room. The area was ok and had some lovely cafes and pubs.
- Jc (1/5): Bad - It was absolutely disgusting, mould on the roof, digusting smell. Room was digusting, we booked a twin room and they allocated a double bed. And forced us to pay £20 extra a night for a tiny sheet on the floor.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not stay here - The hotel is grubby and grimey. It lacks cleanliness and has a horrible smell. Our room was no better. We had a random fridge that had somebody’s rice in a container in it. We went to bed at around 10pm and couldn’t get to sleep four hours as the men running the hotel were going in and out above our room and shouting upstairs in the garden. Got woken up at 3:40am by banging. Don’t feel at all rested and my sleep was completely ruined.
- Precious (3/5): Poor -
