- Jet21433449253 (2/5): Budget hotel - smells, dirty rooms, tv doesn't work. - Room is small. Lobby smells like weed. Someone is walking around the hallway upstairs with a lit joint. TV doesn't work - it asks to download apps that don't exist on Apple or Android. No overhead light. You get what you pay for? We paid too much.
- duncant541 (2/5): Tillary hotel robbed £1140 from my credit card - They rob your money watch out. £1140 was took off my credit card after my stay was complete. This was after giving a $250 temporary holding charge which should have been refunded at the end of my holiday. I questioned the hotel and they said there was no charge on there end so WHERE HAS MY MONEY GONE? This is illegal and immoral and I’d strongly advise not staying here as I am still without my money which was took in November 2025 and I am taking this up with my bank. But this money has not just gone missing. The Tillary Hotel are responsible for robbing £1140 off my credit card.

- Scenic21071690934 (10/5): A Friendly Staff and it felt like home - ... everyone was nice. I stayed for a week, and my first room didn't feel right for me... nothing specific, I just didn't take to it. Yoli moved me to another one that was much more appealing to me. It really made my week in New York so much more fun. I've booked the same vacation next year. Emily at the front desk took my phone and walked me through the steps of getting the best rate and amenities. Overall the staff was friendly and made me feel at home for the holiday. I'm a fan. Go see.
- M3454XBmariar (6/5): it's ok... - The location is great! Close to everything and if you're planning on ubering places very convenient and cheap rides from this location. The hotel pictures look amazing on the site but it is a little unkept when you arrive. Our room for a family of 4 had 1 towel and 1 roll of toilet paper, the lamps and room was very dusty, the sheets, couch and rug were stained. The upside was the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I don't think I'd pay the same amount to stay here a second time.
- psg1974 (8/5): Very good room in a great location - Just had a fab 3 night stay at the tillary hotel. The room was superb and spotless and housekeeping each day was spot on . Coffee supplied for the coffee machine was excellent and helped kick you into the day. Price included a coffee and pastry each morning in the cafe and the staff in here were so friendly . Reception staff were efficient but for me lacked a smile and a welcome I like to expect when entering a hotel . No big deal but something maybe to address for hotel management. Only thing that made me give 4 stars rather than 5 but I’d defo stay here again
- Voyager23472654410 (10/5): Highly recommended - Hi Spent 13 days in the hotel. In a short brief it was really nice. There is a coffee store, a bar, a gym and everything you need. The location is perfect, with a lot of subways lines around. Supermarkets and mall are not really far by foot and the Neighborhood is safe. Located about 7 minutes to Brooklyn bridge and Dumbo area. The staff is really nice. Highly recommended

Rooms are large and well lit. Amenities are open and really nice. Staff is super friendly. I was told there has been a change in mgmt and improvements on staff by subtraction. Price is great and location (near Manhattan Bridge) is convenient. I come to NYC regularly and will stay here again.

- nancytT7753ZA (8/5): Consider this Hotel! - Even though you do have to work about a half a mile to get to the hotel from Jay Tech Metro station and then about a mile down to the Brooklyn Bridge Park and Pier 11 ferry, I loved the location of this hotel. The Jay St./Metro Tech subway station is a hub that can take you anywhere in the surrounding boroughs and even throughout Brooklyn! You can get access to JFK and LaGuardia & Manhattan (Lower and Mid Town) in 10 to 15 mins.
- O4829QIjohns (8/5): Overall very good - Comfortable Room, friendly staff, easy simple continental breakfast included. Nice market around the corner for a full takeout breakfast. Our room was a concern at first because we were placed on level 2 directly by the deck bar, literally the first door after the bar's bathroom. Why would you do that when the hotel had plenty of rooms during our stay? Fortunately the bar closed early at 10 PM otherwise we would have requested another room.
- Trip16029956970 (6/5): Overall decent experience, but not up to the quality I expected - Overall decent experience. Rooms were clean but small. I guess that is the norm for NYC. There was not a comforter or bedspread. When I asked the front desk for one to be sent they only sent another topsheet. The pictures online show the bed with a bedspread covering them. That is not what I got. The front desk was nice enough, but could have been more professional and welcoming. I had to interupt one girl on her phone to get her attention. She apologized and giggled. Still, a more mature professional, congenial level of customer service would have been appreciated. I likely would choose a better location if I were to visit this area again for these reasons.

They offer so many free amenities I can’t even list them all! The staff is super friendly almost like family! Yericia was amazing and help us with literally everything! Subways, stores, museums etc! This was the most wonderful stay I’ve ever had and she recommended every must see attraction in New York! And everything was amazing!

- onseally (2/5): ABSOLUTE LAST CHOICE!!! - 1 Star (Would give 0 if I could) I rarely write reviews, but my experience at The Tillary Hotel in Brooklyn was so awful that I feel obligated to warn others. First off, the bed was so saggy, soft, and uneven that it actually caused me back pain after one night — it felt like sleeping in a hammock made of wet cardboard. I was in the city for work and desperately needed rest and a functioning workspace, but to make matters worse, the Wi-Fi was completely down for my entire stay. No internet, no support, and no solutions offered — a total nightmare when you’re traveling for business. Because I couldn’t work from the hotel, I had to book another hotel at my own expense and check out after just one miserable night. You’d think they would at least offer a refund or some kind of discount for the inconvenience, right? Nope. Not a single apology, not a dime back. It’s now been three months, and I am still waiting on a refund for the unused nights. Reaching anyone from management is next to impossible — they either don’t respond at all or send vague, unhelpful replies that go nowhere. Bottom line: do not waste your time or money here. Between the broken amenities, the unresponsive staff, and the terrible customer service, this place is an absolute disappointment. There are plenty of better, more reliable hotels in Brooklyn — The Tillary should be your last choice.
- doomk13 (2/5): The failing of American educational system - I’ve never met a more inept group of people to deal with minor changes to reservations because of flight delays preventing me from getting to New York at the original day. While I travel for work often times, some small issues come up. Arrival time change. In this instance I am sharing a room with a coworker for our conference. My flight was delayed by 5 hours so I called to make sure they could check in without me. They said no. Because they didn’t have the credit card I reserved with. To which I said, I can give you the credit card number I used as well as any other info or they can just pay with their card, and I’ll pay them back whatever works so they can settle in. They said there was nothing they could do, but asked if I would like to cancel my reservation as an option (even though I would get charged for doing that same day cancellation.) For a boutique hotel with your price tag you should find people who can problem solve better.

- Damon (2/5): - We had a room confirmed. I called the hotel to let them know that were close and would be there soon. They said you are booked for two days and we will see u soon. When we arrived the told us and may other guests that we didn’t have rooms. They had overbooked. They did offer to send me yo a hotel near JFK which is 35 minutes away but that it would be comped due to thier mistakes. I said ok but only if I do t have to pay for it. That hotel is not close to here. When I got there I was made to pay for it anyway. The Hilton called them and said you need to give me a card to pay for the room and they wouldn’t give it to him. So I had to pay anyway and drive far away from Brooklyn.
- Richard (6/5): - staff was great although we didn't have too much interaction as we were there only overnight. The rooms were clean but the common areas looked very worn and the rooms are dark and somewhat dingy. Some lights weren't working. It's a shame because the place has a lot of potential.

- jameswxb (4/5): Poorly maintained hotel - The location is good, but the maintenance and service is very poor. Day one, when check in, no WiFi info for customer, after check in room, we have to go to front desk to get the passcode. The sink is not work properly, the house keeper should report the issue and hotel should fix the issue before release the room, we booked the room for two adults, only one set bath towel, tissue paper in bathroom was empty, when we ask house keeper, she said no more. There is no “do not disrupt” door tag in room, you have to ask front desk to get one. All of these point to the poor management.

When I arrived to check in around 10:45 PM, I was informed that there was no room available for me due to an overbooking caused by the third-party booking company (Expedia). This left me stranded late at night with a suitcase and no accommodation. I had to urgently book another hotel, which ended up costing $500 more due to limited availability at that hour. This experience was extremely stressful and disappointing. If adequate steps aren’t taken to address this issue and the added costs, I will be hesitant to use Expedia in the future. I look forward to a prompt resolution.

- Brittany (8/5): - Great location in Brooklyn. Friendly staff. Nice perk in free drink an app each day. Only downside is there is little to no sound insolation. You hear people’s convos clearly in the room next door. So on a weekend and with people coming in at all hours I was woken up a lot. Despite being a very sound sleeper, the hotel room doors are very loud when they shut it would startle me awake repeatedly throughout the night. But beds were comfy. Rooms were nice. I just recommend packing earplugs.

- 872biam (2/5): Unsafe Experience & No Refund - Unsafe Experience & No Refund I checked in on July 11th around 4 a.m. and checked out shortly after because I felt unsafe. While in my room, I was woken up by the sound of someone trying to open my door. I typically use hangers to secure hotel doors from the inside, and I believe that is the only reason the person wasn’t able to get in. I immediately left the property and contacted, the manager, to request a refund. The manager showed no care or even the urge to be helpful, and despite explaining the situation, I have still not received my refund. I would like someone from management to contact me directly to resolve this and issue my refund. This was a frightening and disappointing experience, and I cannot recommend this hotel based on the lack of security and follow-through.
- Suzanne (6/5): - With 2 guests in the room, we were offered only one towel. When I called for more, I was asked, “oh, you want more?” I did give a snarky retort “Do you think we want to share?” The room was very small and dated.
- Jessica (6/5): - We stayed for several days for a nearby work conference. The staff was lovely - helped with an early check in and made a nice breakfast recommendation for us. However, our rooms were not super clean on arrival - there was visible dust on the desks and dressers, and gritty floors in the rooms. The ceiling above my bed was covered in red adhesive spots as though something had previously been hung there and had been poorly removed. Both rooms were stocked on arrival with only one towel and no bottled water (although on subsequent days water was provided and two bath towels were left). We had two luxury king rooms - in mine, the bathroom had been updated to a wonderful walk in shower but my colleagues was a tub combo with a kinda mildewy shower curtain. The

Our room was full of flying gnats - when we complained and asked for a different room the desk clerk said they had been getting calls all night and the whole 6th floor (ours) was infected - they did move us but why wait until we complained - the entire floor should have been evacuated. There were service elevators for the staff but they were always using ours. The place was filthy and gross. There is a nice looking Hampton across the street that I will try next time.

There is a forced $30 per day resort that gets you a bottle of water--if they remember it--and a free drink except the bar was closed 2 of the 5 days we were there! Front desk not particularly friendly nor helpful And at $250 to $ 356 a night one expects better!

- griselda (8/5): - Overall our stay was good. Traveled with family. Room was clean and had a mini fridge which was great. There was a cafe downstairs on the main floor to purchase drinks and small items to eat which was convenient. There was a rooftop lounge area that was really nice. Great area to relax and grab a drink from the bartender. The bartender was amazing and made us good drinks. There was no laundry room avail as mentioned on our booking site. The initial staff was good as she was able to hold our luggage and was very pleasant. The downfall was that our room was not ready upon check in and threw off our day. The staff was ok , not too hospitable especially since our room was not ready. The staff got better by our third day and check out.

- FancyAsFi (2/5): Disappointing Stay with Missing Amenities & Room Issues - Unfortunately, we didn't have the best experience during our stay at this hotel. I wish I had read the reviews beforehand, so I hope this helps other travelers--and encourages hotel management to make improvements. First impressions were decent--the lobby was clean and welcoming, though the carpet looked noticeably worn and stained. The front desk staff was polite, but failed to explain the amenity fee and what it included. I had to ask about it myself, so then she told us it covers -Daily coffee or tea and a pastry -One beverage and appetizer per day from the Tillary Garden Bar Later I found out from Tillary Hotel's Website that the resort fee also includes: -Three tickets to the NY Transit Museum -Daily bicycle rentals Sadly, weren't able to utilize the museum tickets or the bike rentals since the staff didn't tell us about it nor did we know how to claim these. We also didn't get the beverage or appetizer from the bar--because there was no bartender. A random guest told us the bartender had gone on vacation and management hadn't arranged for a replacement... for the entire weekend. We ended up going to a nearby bar instead. We did receive our daily coffee/tea and pastry, but it was basic black coffee only (no espresso drinks), and the pastries were honestly disappointing. It felt like they were being given out to justify the amenity fee, but they didn't live up to the value. On top of that, our room had several maintenance issues: The vanity had visible water damage The TV wasn't working Worst of all, we didn't have hot water, which was extremely frustrating after a cold, rainy day exploring the city. To the hotel's credit, they did move us to a new room, but the whole experience felt inconvenient and not reflective of the price we paid. There's definitely potential here--the location is solid and the hotel has charm--but the lack of follow-through on included amenities and basic room functionality made our stay disappointing overall.

Although there is no onsite parking and street parking is not guaranteed, there is a parking garage on the next block. We later found out the hotel has a parking option that can be added to your booking. We would stay here again.

Overall a clean hotel with decent customer service. The lounge area and bar are fine. There is a lot of room for improvement though.

- warrenbW5269HA (8/5): The Tillary Hotel: Pretty Good - Minor Flaws - Pros: -Easy to get to -Street parking can be found -Couple blocks from Subway -Staff was kind/helpful -rooftop bar/lounge area was nice -plenty of amenities available Cons: (I believe I stayed shortly after they changed mgmt?) -bar didn't have any glasses -Elevators were extremely slow -room had some slight damage -room had iron but no ironing board? I came in for a weekend to see a concert, lots to do around the hotel. Overall, it was a nice stay, extremely minor complaints.

There was hair on the sheets and one of the pillows. The bed was very uncomfortable and when we asked for extra pillows, the front desk said we could get some but they never came. We chose this location because it had a cafe, which was well stocked in the morning, and a bar/restaurant for the evening. We wanted to have a quick and easy dinner after a day of travel, but they were only making chicken tenders and fries for food, nothing else was available on a Friday night. Overall our stay was ok. The location made up for most of the shortcomings of the hotel. I think I would look to the newer hotel across the street if we travel back to Brooklyn in the future.

- Sarah (6/5): - It’s a fine hotel. And I think the fact that I was doing a single night and a Monday was a big part of my experience. The room is nice enough with good and controllable ac. Even with every light on- it’s a pretty dark room. No full length mirrors. The TV wasn’t working- the picture would flicker in and out and the audio would get off track with the video. Out of shower gel or the mounted dispenser was broken- other than that- nice shower. Previous guests trash (empty phone charge box, empty jewelry bag, wrapper) left in the bedside table. There is a not small facility fee which is for all the hotel amenities- but they had literally nothing for Monday guests. No bar or food service, no grab and go- nothing- had to walk to the bodega in the rain to grab some basics that I’m sure they stock when that area of the hotel is opened and staffed. Scheduled a wake up call for 3:30am (early flight). And it never came- thankfully my alarm was enough to get me up. I got a good price because I booked at the last minute for a Monday night, it was like 35-40% less than the weekend night cost- I wouldn’t stay again at the full price- but it was a perfectly fine hotel for what I paid.

The staff are rude and unbothered, the rooms aren't clean, the hotel stinks of cigarette smoke, feels generally unsafe and is expensive as well. The room I was put in was so loud both from outside and other people in the hotel slamming doors and things like that. Don't stay here, don't look at the 4 star rating and believe it. The location is fine and the beds are big that's pretty much it. Looking back on here, there are so many negative reviews I wished I'd paid attention to - and the hotels attempts to say "we're looking into this" under all of them are certainly lies. Truly horrible experience.

She helped me when I was frantic about messing up my reservation, made sure I comfortable while multitasking other patrons and then got me checked in! Overall nice stay walking distance to Barclay Center. Cute cafe. Didn’t enjoy the half door shower because water gets on the floor or that you have to go to the lobby then walk up a flight of steps for the ice machine. The staff was accommodating, especially Ivette. 😊
