- retamal1985 (2/5): Victims of scam... - It seems that visiting this resort in the past used to be a mavelous experience but everything has changed nowadays... Not sure about the reason, because north is still under development, but reality shows that Anilana was left apart and zero maintenance has been applied to the facilities there... I was there a couple of weeks ago, leading a tour composed by 13 people, and everything was in darkness in our arrival... No power/electricity, bar empty, super hot inside the facilities, outdoor deck was ruined, swimming pools super dirty and green water, electronic systems to access the rooms were not working (they asked us to leave everything open or to to reception to ask for opening our room with a master key...; imagine 13 people asking individually for opening their rooms at any time)... I talked to the owner and she tried to convince me to staybut what I could only expect for my clients was room in a new place to end our almost 3 weeks tour. And we got it at Cinnamon Trinco Blu. Super recommended!

- Toursinlanka (2/5): Do not visit or Promote this property !!! - Hi All, publishing this comment to share my client's experience in Anilana Nilaveli Hotel. Guest Stay : 13 Jun 2022 Guest Nationality: UK Of course this was a good property by then but after the pandemic now it's a run down one with the recent management change. As a travel agent I had a guest from UK, whom wanted to relax in Trinco beach for about 10 nights and accommodated him in this property since it was in an ideal location for them to relax. However once they checked in to the property they noticed that the hotel amenities were not in good conditions. Since every one should aware of the hotels what you all planning to visit should know about this. Pool tiles were broken and can lead to a major injury . Guest have lodged a complaint regarding health and safety, as an agent we did change the hotel immediately. Attached are images what we received. Of course they have upgraded my client to a higher category room and after advising the hotel to change the hotel to their sister hotel in Pasikudah, client did not wish to stay there either. Since it was a long stay, upon the request made we paid 50% of the total value to secure the booking, and after a months time received 03 nights stay refund holding 01 night stay refund by putting front their cancellation policy to safe guard themselves having the said issues. Before you all to select this property, please check whether the amenities are in good condition, power generator status, Bar facilities, in room phone call facility, coz they had not none. + management spoils clients head when they decide to move out for another hotel in the same region. Message from client : Quote, The manager has just shown me the other hotel it's as bad as this one I've told him I'm not staying there I'm not changing hotel for that place hopefully you will find something nice im. Not bothered about how much just get me out of here a week in the Maldives would be nice Un quote. If you are willing to use this hotel think twice as they gonna play with your money !!!
- malouli21 (10/5): three days in paradise - It was absolutely perfect. We‘ve been there in difficult days for Sri Lanka. So we were the only guest in this big hotel. In the beginning it was very strange for us, but the staff was so friendly, kind, attentive and talented, so we immediately fell in love with this beautiful place. The staff let us feel like we were in paradise. Everyday the kitchen team made us an absolutely delicious menu. For us it was really the best food here in Sri Lanka. A big thank you to the chef and his team and also for all the others. And thank you to Cruze for the drinks. Our three days and nights there we will never forget. We already miss this talented staff and our time in Anilana.

I was happy to spend two nights at Anilana Nilaveli & another 2 nights at their sister property Anilana Pasikuda. Their service was great and my son and I was looked after very well. I specifically enjoyed the night time calypso music which arranged at Anilana Nilaveli. Hope to visit Anilana Hotels soon.

- Sambomb (2/5): Disaster, Unbelievable and so disappointed... - We are staying in a studio room, which is "the highest room" category at Anilana Nilaweli, I'm writing this review while staying at this hotel. It's sad to see the situation of this hotel, i think the owners / Managers here are simply not bothers, we understand the struggle in the leisure industry of Sri Lanka, we had easter attacks and then covid 19, leisure industry never recovered yet there were plenty of locals just like us who were traveling travelling around, giving plenty some business for hotels. I feel situation in this hotel has little to do with covid or Easter sunday bombing, it's a clear case of management ignorance and lack of attention to detail, I don't see anyone running a proper business here. This entire property badly maintained, there was a dangerous wasp colony concrete column on the 2nd floor, one throw of a stone or a bird accidentally land on it will create dangerous situation for all the guests. management is simply not bothered about it at all. Entire greenery in this property is turning brown (grass is nearly dead in some areas), there are tons and tons of fallen leaves in the garden, lawns were not cut, unwanted bushes/trees are out growing, yet the management is not bothered. We checked in to room no. 201, the AC was out of order and we waited for about 5 hours, then we were given a new room, room no. 101, they said the room was a ocen view studio (highest room category in our hotel) at the time of booking, i don't see the ocean from my room, all i see is a dead garden and bunch of tree tops. ( i will be attaching images for your records). Room has all discolored, ugly furniture, it's like they were reused after a tsunami or left out in outside in the rain and suddenly taken inside after about 6-7 months, bathroom has ugly toilet seats, the water tap in the wash basin is sprinkling water in all directions (because it is blocked and never cleared), TV receiver is glued in the bottom of the TV and it's kept of falling. The curtain were ugly, the glass windows were not properly cleaned (you may find them all in my photos). it's a real disappointment. There are two swimming pools in this hotel, we used both of them, none of them have filters operating when we were there, water was murky (we couldn't see the bottom) and (check out my photo) there were algae growing on the side walls and the bottom of the pool. (check my photo - brown algae), this is a clear indication of lack of filtration, improper circulation of water. It's quite dangerous to have a pool like this for guests, i don't understand why this management is not even bothered? Variety of food served is not great, yet there was nothing wrong, we were served peppered beef twice for two consecutive days for dinner, well that's ok considering the other agonies in this hotel. We ordered french fries from in-room dining, received something we could called a brown version of french fries, portion was huge and horribly burned pieces were found. It was quite disappointing... So i inquired from the front desk about the GM, the man who should be in charge of this property, named was mentioned and yet i did not see that figure visiting any of the guests. I did not see the head chef visiting the guests to ask their opinion about the meals. There are bunch of minor staffs desperately trying to keep things under control here to the best of their capacity, while i feel management is not bothered to uplift any standard, they simply ignore everything, things they can see with their own eyes... if i can see these issues as highlighted in my photos, why can't they see this... over to you dear management of Anilana and Anilana Nilaweli, as one of your customer, i urge you to critically look in to all issues highlighted, you are robbing guests money as this experience is one of our worst up to now...

We were alone but all the staff took care of us ! 2 big swimming pool , cooking in front of us ! We appreciated at diner owner who came for presentation . We recommand this place at every season

- Charith345 (10/5): Wonderful stay - Anilana was selected as the final destination of our honeymoon tour and the stay was absolutely perfect. We stayed 2 nights in pool chalet. All the staff is very friendly & gave us a supreme survive under this covid 19 conditions.The hotel arranged a beach dinner for us and the experience was great with their delicious food. We visited the pigeon island and did snorkeling with a guide from wild life arrange by the hotel which I recommend for everyone to experiance. If anyone is going to select Trinco for the next a vacation this is the ideal place to stay. Thanks Mr.Indrajith , Lasantha, Vimukthi & team. Charith & Vimansa.
- 1971615 (10/5): THANKS - Actually it was not me but my children have chosen Anilana Nilaveli. What a good selection was that.... From the time we visited they gave us a great service. All the staff members were very friendly and helpful. They have arranged a beach dinner for us and it was a great experience for our children. As a medical officer I must say that I noticed all the staff members were following preventive measures for Covid-19. - ravikcm (8/5): Rejuvenating Work Vacation on the East Coast - The hotel is perfectly situated on the famed Nilaveli Beach with Pigeon Island, a favourite snorkeling location and national park, a short boat ride away. The sea is as calm as a swimming pool where one can wade in 100m or more during the season. You can also see fish jumping about you. The staff was very welcoming, friendly, helpful and efficient from the senior management to the junior staff, which made my stay pleasant, safe and homely. The tables in the dining area were well spaced with good ventilation, especially important for these times. I also used in-room dining and was happy to see the meals delivered were properly sealed, which was good protocol. The Studio room and bathroom were spacious with all the amenities one could require. The hotel provided an additional table and chair for the room for me to use as my workplace during the day. My friends joined me at the hotel half-way into my trip and we all had a wonderful time. I look forward to my next visit.
- ocean7782 (10/5): Long Weekend in October 2020 - Amidst the Covid situation we travelled to Trincomalee and stayed at the Anilana Nilaveli, for the 2nd time. It was great to visit again and stay in this beautiful property and with their friendly staff with all the precautions for covid situation. We stayed at the Pool Chalets this time and it was spacious and airy and perfect as the rooms open up to the pool and beach!! we loved it!! I tried the Spa for the first time and it was super experience and well worth it!! a Must try!! Food was good as always! And the staff are great!

The staff starting from manager to stuarts to chefs were very friendly and guided us to make our stay a memorable one. Special rates were given to us with executive services which made our stay a special one. We highly recommend all travelers worldwide to have stay in this hotel.

- 320sanathwe (10/5): One of great place to Visit in Nilaveli - A last minute booking made us a route to this place located near to nilaveli beach. From first day onward we didn't feel any of strangeness with the hotel. Because all of guy of crew is very kind and sometimes we felt we are in home. they give us the best service of them in every minute and smile is on their faces every time. very helpful and its feel like all at our the finger tip. Although the room service, amenities, arrangements and the surrounding keep very clean and tide. the view of the hotel is really nice with the experience which we cold have easily. Pigeon island was one of great experience we had with snorkeling, swim with Sea turtles & Shark. Also there are so many activities to do without staying in a single room. Also Hotel crew were very helpful if we need anything or support they delivered that with a great heart of pleasure. Thanks that wonderful hospitality given by you and keep that in a good way to feel same for others. And again thanks for the GM Mr. Indrajith Kumara who is a nice gentlemen we met and the crew. Other than that the most admirable thing was the food which was amazing (when you go there pls try the "Buffalo Chicken Wings" which is the best of best ever had in Sri Lanka. thanks Chef and the crew for the unforgettable meal. - lesley (8/5): Great staff and warm welcome - A lovely warm welcome from the staff at Anilana -beautiful pool and clean beach area ,poolside rooms spacious and fabulous bathroom. Delicious buffet breakfast with a great variety of Sr Lankan and Western choices. You will need to let them know if you want alcohol with your meals as they do not have a bar on site -staff were very accomodating and nothing was too much trouble.

The property is located a little distance away from from any shops or other restaurants, but TukTuks are readily available and the food on site is good. There was no alcohol available at all which wasn't advertised or communicated before we arrived, but that seems to be common at present in Sri Lanka generally, we could buy from the shops in Trinco and bring it back if required.

- XUSHENG (10/5): 惊喜难忘的假期 - 酒店的设施和舒适都称不上一流，但是服务却格外贴心。 同行的好友恰好过50岁生日，按老经验，和酒店前台和餐厅打招呼询问是否可以安排一个蛋糕。出入意料的是，除了免费的蛋糕外，他们一再询问还需要什么额外的服务。几经沟通后，花了一些小钱，酒店帮朋友的50岁生日办成了小型烟火晚会，给朋友留下了惊喜难忘的假期。经主动的反复确认，还在蛋糕上写上朋友的中文小名，这服务绝对细致到位。 另外餐饮也很不错。入住当天是周末也是当地的公众假日，客人比较多，晚上正赶上烧烤自助餐。本还在纠结是否要吃自助餐，餐厅服务人员及时提醒我们不要错过，性价比果然很高，小青龙吃到吃撑。 美中不足的是，WIFI支持需要大大提高改善。房间几乎没法收发照片，只能坐在大堂里收发，且很慢。
- Xabier (8/5): Un 5 estrellas con alguna de regalo - Es muy agradable si bien es un poco incómodo tener wue pasar por recepción y comedores para ir a la piscina o a la playa. La piscina bastante sucia lo cual nos sorprendió. Personal muy amable y lo mejor la habitación, con la cama enfrente de una amplia cristalera pudiendo ver el mar aunque de lejos.
- Thetraveler (2/5): - Unfortunately hotel is nothing what is displayed on the photos. The facilities are very old and poorly maintained. Inside the rooms the air conditioner vents are full of mold. The bathroom and the beach towels have several holes, worn out and some have some large stains (not sure if they were even washed). Hotel services are very overpriced, they take advantage of the tourists for the restaurant prices since there are not many restaurants nearby.
- Kugaeasan (2/5): Bad management stuff - Management heads are very rude and they charged extra after we booked and paid. They didn’t ajust with anything. But the service boys did a good job they were very helpful. Also the guy called Fiaz at the front desk was good.
- desiree (8/5): Heerlijke bedden - Fijn hotel aan t strand. Fijne ruime kamers, Heerlijke bedden. Hotel is hier en daar wat gedateerd, sporen van achterstallig onderhoud. Prijs kwaliteit is daarom niet goed. Op alle reeds hogere prijzen in het hotel komt 30% surcharge, dit is te gek!
- Andy (10/5): Amazing location modern hotel - Great hotel and the most stunning location you can dream for, rooms stunning and large although sea view is actually partial sea view due to trees. Breakfast buffet is good but evening very average. Internet access is terrible worst we have had in Sri Lanka. Limited sun beds. Staff are totally amazing cannot do enough to help and oh did I say how amazing the location is, the beach is one of the best I have been to. Try to book mid week as there appeared to be less children then.
- Nerida (10/5): 4 days of perfect R and R - We loved our relaxing time here. Staff were very friendly. Room was very comfortable although outlook could have been nicer (we had a garden view room with not much garden to view!). We were a family of 5 so had two rooms next to each other. Only improvement could be that housekeeping come to make beds earlier in the day. They always came at about 5-5.30pm which we didn't like. Breaky was great and heaps of food to choose from. Pool and lounge area was lovely. We ate a the hotel a couple of nights and had the lovely buffet dinner. Not close to any other restaurants (need to drive there) Beach and water was devine. Would definitely recommend a visit.

- Sanna (10/5): Pleasant stay at Anilana Nilaveli - Totally amazing to end our backpacking travel here. The rooms were clean, fresh and smelled so good! However, some of the wall socklets didn't function in my room, neither did the blow drier. The wi-fi was quite lame. The pool and pool area was very nice and if one wants to bathe in the ocean it's just 2 minutes walk. The food served at the hotel was really good, both dinner and breakfast. The service personnel were very nice, helpful and really service minded. The location of the hotel was 10 km away from Trincomalee, so it was quite difficult to find it by taking the bus, but finally we managed to reach the destination. I could really recommend this hotel!! It was really good if you just want to relax near the pool and have good food. Unfortunately, the hotel didn't have any spa facilities but the service desk recommended one nearby.
- Armin (6/5): Schöne Anlage mit Poolbereich und Hotelstrand - Die Anlage ist empfehlenswert, allerdings liegt sie sehr abseits und der Ort Nilaveli ist nicht unbedingt den Gästen zumutbar. Geschäfte und Restaurants sind gewöhnungsbedürftig. Am Abend ist auf die eigene Sicherheit zu achten. Ausflüge sollten nur mit Begleitung und Fahrdienst unternommen werden. Es gibt einen hervorragenden Strandabschnitt, der leider durch sehr viel Plastikmüll überschwemmt ist. Darum kümmert sich in Sri Lanka wohl keiner. Am Müllproblem am Strand und in den Ortschaften müssen die Sri Lankis noch viel arbeiten.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Enttäuschend - wir sind 2 Tage früher abgereist - Disappointing stay, left 2 nights earlier We booked this expensive resort hotel as a highlight of our sri lanka tour. After staying at the nice resort cinnamon blu in Trinco, it was a disapointment to arrive here (no spa, no poolbar, no rooftop bar, not the standard of a 4* hotel). No one showed us the room, so we had to guess where it could be...But we liked the spacious room, the pools and the beautiful view of the ocean. The requested vegan meal (due to milk allergy) was only possible after many explanations and misunderstandings. We talked to the manager about the disapointments during our stay (day 2/5). We asked for a 1 night refund and should receive it. Unfortunately there were many things at the hotel which were promised but didn’t exist. The manager told us that the promised things on their homepage were wrong because the homepage is managed in India..? (that’s why they promise Spa, pool bar and so on) As we still felt so uncomfortable after our talk and things didn’t change, we decided to leave after 3 nights instead if staying 5. The service staff is kind and tried really hard to make us happy. It just seems as the hotel as a whole doesn’t work. We were very sad that it ended up like this as we payed a lot lot lot of money (compared to that cinnamon blu costs the half of it...) and couldn’t enjoy our stay at all. If you don’t feel welcome as a guest, it doesn’t help if you’re staying in a stylish place...
- Katsuyuki (8/5): 静かなビーチリゾートホテル - レンタカーでコロンボの空港から伺いました。途中ダンブッラの洞窟寺院と、シギリヤの遺跡に寄って来たので、1日で7時間移動して夜に着きました。ホテルはトリンコマリーから車で30分程度走った北にあり、環境は抜群、プライベートビーチも最高でした。ただ、周囲に何もないので、夜の到着はGPSが無いと難しい事と、買い物に出るには不便です。市場で買ってきた大きな魚を調理して頂き、いい思い出となりました。ありがとうございました。

- jyoti (10/5): Sheer Indulgence - An amazing property. You can forget the world and immerse yourself in sheer pleasure of doing nothing. The staff is amazing and their little personalised gestures made our stay memorable. The room s are very spacious and well equipped. The swimming pools were well maintained with nice covered cabanas. The pool ends in one of the cleanest virgin white sandy beach of the world. The hotel has arranged nice recliners at the beach under the shade of trees. The hotel provides you services at the pool and the beach. The boats for snorkelling at Pugeon Island are available at the hotel beach. A good WiFi access is available at all places, including the beach recliners. The hotel provides buffet breakfast, but as it was low season we the breakfast was unlimited a-la-carte, very well prepared and with a good spread. We did not try the lunch and dinner as we were busy exploring the local food joints to taste the local delicacy. The only problem is commuting from the hotel to see the local neighborhood; we had a self drive car rental so it helped us in exploring the area. But if it is indulgence you are looking after, why bother, just enjoy the hotel, it's large expanse of green and the beach. Go for full board and enjoy this paradise. We are going again...soon

- Abir (8/5): Goed rustig hotel dichtbij het strand. - Pigeon Iland ligt op 5 minuten varen. Een aanrader. De boten varen direct vanaf het strand voor het hotel. Natuurlijk is er veel mooie natuur, apen bij t zwembad en mooie vogels. Voor de rest is in de omgeving vrij weinig te beleven. Fijn hotel om lekker niks te doen.

On Hotels.Com the hotel was promoted as having a gym, beach bar, and a sky lounge (top floor). On arrival we were advised the gym was still under construction. The Sky Lounge and Beach bar were both closed!!! Are you kidding??? A beach hotel with no beach bar? Huge disappointment. The gym was very important to us.. Very bad show Hotels.com. Either hotels.com are slack or the hotel have not properly updated their details. Either way, not good enough from this website or the hotel.

- Chris (10/5): fabulous hotel - Hotelwas superb from checking to check out. Very friendly capable staff. GM came and introduced himself, had a nice chat and he asked for feedback. Chef also visited our dining table to chat and requested feedback. They are interested and motivated to improve in any way. The grounds, pools, beach areas were maintained verywell. Wait staff helpful& knowledgeable but at times slow. Food & drink selections plentiful& presentation was lovely. The bedding was top of the line and the mattress was THE most comfortable I have ever slept upon. Kudos to the Anilana for a 5 star stay. We will return for sure.

- Natalia (8/5): - Первое впечатление бывает обманчиво. Может виновата погода - приехали в сезон дождей, дождь нас и встретил. Показалось мрачновато. И вид из окна (предложили второй этаж) тоже был не лучший. Номер уже через 5 минут нам поменяли и 3-й этаж тут же добавил настроения. Идеально чистым номер не назовешь, но белье, полотенца, наборы для душа - с этим полный порядок. Обслуживание тоже прекрасное. Завтрак (даже если не шведский стол) разнообразный и очень обильный. Если есть силы - хоть все перепробуй. Официанты внимательны, доброжелательны, повара стараются угодить и прислушиваются к пожеланиям. Бассейны - здорово! Глубина и длина достаточные, чтобы плавать взрослым. И в то же время безопасны для детей постарше.Берег около отеля чистый, но дальше не слишком приятно. Впрочем, наверное, виноват сезон дождей - океан постоянно выбрасывал всякий мусор. Парни у бассейна, охрана - все улыбаются. Запоминают твои привычки.В общем, по итогам, отдых признан удачным. Ну, а разнообразия добавил ресторан соседнего отеля.
- jeongah (10/5): 한적하게 쉬기에 참 좋았습니다. - 예약과정에서 호텔스닷컴과 불거진 문제(성인2명과 6살 아이 1명 예약에 엑스트라베드 추가 요금이 차지되어 있어 예상 외의 높은 비용을 지출하였음. 호텔스닷컴은 이 지불시스템 오류 해결을 위해 노력하지 않았음. 호텔 예약센터와 호텔스닷컴은 서로 상대방이 취소해줘야 자신측에서 취소 후 재결제 가능하단 말만 반복. ) 외에, 호텔 자체는 좋았습니다. 수영장 앞 룸이어서 아이들과 물놀이 즐기기에 편리했고. 욕조가 없는 것은 조금 아쉬웠고요. 지금이 성수기가 아니라서 돌고래 구경 등의 액티비티는 할 수 없었으나 그래서 더 조용하고 한적한 휴가시간을 보냈습니다. 비치도 파도는 거칠었으나 한산하고 해안가에서 파도를 즐기기엔 충분했고요. 호텔로 가는 길에 예상 외의 비포장도로가 두 번 나와서 좀 불편했던 점은 있습니다. 호텔 입구길은 호텔에서 좀 포장작업을 하셔야 할 듯하네요. 프라이빗 로드 같은데. 스파센터도 조용하고 피로를 풀기에 시설과 서비스가 괜찮았습니다. 식사는 스리랑카인에겐 괜찮을지 모르나 저희에겐 메뉴가 다양하진 않았습니다. 그래서 조식 외 나머지 식사는 뷔페를 이용하지 않고 다른 메뉴 주문 혹은 룸 다이닝 이용. 여하튼 전반적으로 호텔 자체는 만족했습니다. 예약시스템 빼고.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location away from tourist site. - The power shower in the delux spacious bathroom was the best part of my stay. A very comfy bed and a sea view room with balcony added to the comfort of this hotel. Breakfast was a great variety of everything for all. I had in room dining in the evening and the jumbo prawns were delightful. The menu changed daily and the staff were very friendly. Only downside was the stained towels in the bathroom. Also, the spa closes at 6:30 I think that is too early, and the air con is so strong it was freezing, I couldn't have a treatment because it was far too cold and at 5:30 she said she coul not fit me in because the clos in an hour.
