The room was larger than a NYC studio apartment. The staff serving the complimentary breakfast went above and beyond to prepare an immaculate buffet. The lady at the front desk offered immediate check in to an available one. She had the courtesy to tell me, with a toddler the cal train sound could be a disturbing factor. If I can wait she could offer a better location. There is a lot to say, from break fast, front desk to the cleaning crew, all of them were polite and great.

- scarsdale1 (10/5): Lovely studio apartment with a delicious breakfast. - The room was spacious and gave plenty of room to work and sleep. It was thoughtfully laid out with coffee, shampoo and conditioners and face soap already in the room. There was a small terrace overlooking a residential street, so it had the feel of a studio apartment rather than a hotel room. Breakfast included in the rate was exceptional -- fresh foods that were hot and delicious. A big shout out to Edith who made sure the breakfast area was spotless and the food very good. Little extras like an outdoor fire pit and garden seating made this a welcoming place to stay.

They have special drapes to reduce the noise. My biggest complaint is the housekeeping system. They ask you to let them know by 10am if you want your room cleaned. We called at 10:20 and they refused to make an exception. Very inflexible!

The train blows its horn every time it goes by and there were only about 3 hours in the night that it wasn’t happening. - David (10/5): - I like the property very much in terms of convenience to downtown Menlo Park. It's a newer property and is in very good condition. Service was very good and so was the staff. Two negatives: 1. they've shoe-horned the hotel very close to the railroad tracks so get used to the commuter train noise. 2. The room floors are part tile so you can really hear people in the room above walking on the tile floor portion. In fact, the hotel gives you ear plugs!! ...they don't help much. :-(

Staff are very accommodating. - This facility is the best value in Menlo Park when compared with other properties in the same price range. It has the "home away from home" feeling. The staff are excellent and are ready to assist with guests requests - rooms are always fresh and clean. It does have the issue of the train crossing and station being adjacent to the property, however, the new electric trains are very quiet and when inside the "horn" noise, mostly during peak train hours, while loud when outside, is greatly reduced when inside your suite. There are sound reducing drapes and soundproofing of the complex appears to be have been handled well.

- Blake (10/5): - Great value for the price in an area that's very central to Stanford, Portola Valley, and other places. 2BR / 2BA suite was clean and worked well for a family. Other reviews said to make sure you request a room in a building far from the train tracks (anything but building A, they said) so we did and weren't bothered by the noise. The breakfast food was hit and miss but it's free and has a number of options. Also some good places to eat in the area. Parking was $12 per night during our stay although you can probably find street parking in the area without paying anything. Criticisms are the free breakfast has a lot of options but it all feels like it's packaged food, and the rooms themselves don't have a lot of "personality" or "charm." Good value and perfect for a trip where we didn't spend a lot of time in the room.

The rooms were adequately clean. The bedding has non-cotton sheets, and mattresses are not the most comfortable. Despite our request to have quiet rooms, we were given rooms on the 1st floor next to train tracks, which were noisy. As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member, I was somewhat disappointed because I had booked my rooms in advance. Also, our rooms were equipped for the handicapped, which we had not asked for. It made the bathroom huge but had fewer surfaces and shelves. Lastly, the rooms do not have enough drawers/cabinets or even a luggage rack in the closet. Very inconvenient in terms of feeling comfortable for a stay of a few days.
- Haley (10/5): - This is a great place to stay if you are traveling with children of all ages. I had three teens and stayed in the two bedroom king suite and it was very comfortable. Breakfast is included in the price and there is something that everyone can enjoy.

- Jacqueline R (10/5): The Best Residence Inn Ever! - I have stayed at many Residence Inns over the years, and the Palo Alto/Menlo location is by far the nicest and best Residence Inn that I have ever stayed at. I stayed there with my husband and son, and we were all very satisfied with our stay. The 2-bedroom suite that we stayed in, along with the rest of the entire property is very, very clean and welcoming. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The breakfast did not disappoint either. The food was fresh and hot, and tasted very good. The only downside to this property, is that is close to the train tracks, and the train can be heard throughout the night. However, this did not bother us. In fact, I highly recommend this hotel!

- pegasus73 (10/5): Very nice and extremely friendly staff - This is a very nice place to stay in Menlo Park. Clean rooms, friendly staff, safe area, good parking garage, nice balcony. The free breakfast is excellent and very good value considering dining out prices in the area. There is some train noise but the curtains and white noise machine are very helpful. Our room had a full kitchen and a wonderful slider door to a nice balcony to sit. Definitely recommended.

- Lynn (10/5): - Property was well kept up. It was near train tracks,but I didn’t hear any noise,maybe because it was from Saturday to Sunday? The room was clean and bigger than expected, it came with a nice sized patio. I will be staying here again when I visit the Bay Area.
- Liz (10/5): - We stayed for 16 days for medical treatment at Stanford. The Residence Inn was convenient to Stanford and walkable to restaurants. Nice breakfast every morning. The facility is spotless with a nice courtyard area to sit in the sun. It was just what we needed.
