Guest Reviews
- Dr Von Hamlet (8/5): - nice nostalgic place, fixing up nicely. right where we needed it to be, right close to the local bus bench we needed. close to the freeway yet tucked away.
- Shannon (6/5): -
- Wilian (9/5): Good - Is close to the city I like it
- Jordan (7/5): -
- Mark (6/5): -
- Bertha (9/5): Amazing - Nine served but close by
- Angela (7/5): - The price and location were GREAT! Although the building, windows, shower and sink were original (not updated), the bed was as PERFECT, AND as nice as I would expect from very expensive hotel. The carpet looked old, but everything was very clean. The room was quiet, spacious and comfortable -- so we slept great. The shower was hot, and the bath towels were clean and soft. There was a refrigerator, microwave and a coffee maker. Thank you!!! We had a great experience. If you like a little vintage vibe for your road trip, I think the Shasta Dam Motel fits the bill. The lamp on the table was broken and wobbled. I think it should be replaced. Overall, we had a great stay. Thank you.
- Ron (2/5): what a dump - nothing everything
- JOEL (2/5): - The host did not even look at my reservation. So charge me for 1 night when I was staying for 2. Then, try to kick me out the second night. When I went up to talk to him in his little area that he does his business. There was urine on the floor. Never saw bugs sheets were clean. But other than that, it was a train wreck. It said it had a pool, but it was empty and the air conditioning could barely keep it cool enough. The bathroom was hideous as well as the kitchenette. Not worth a $97 dollars a night. Sorry I didn't take more pictures. And it's right next to the freeway.I mean, right next to the freeway.
- Richard (7/5): Shasta Dam Motel - Management staff very friendly. Liked the location , very secluded location. The room was very clean, but the shower grout needs a good cleaning.
- Kelly (10/5): - Cute motel. Clean, safe and comfortable.
- Holger (5/5): Fair - The room was clean and the bed/mattress was very comfortable. The motel is located right next to the interstate and it's quite noisy. The rooms and the entire motel are in serious need of updating (chipped corners, leaking faucets, kitchen has not a single dish or utensil in it)
- Alexis (10/5): Great - Right off 5 Convenient , food, dispensary, gas, store and lots of cats on property
- James (8/5): I would compare it to motel 6. The motel was comfortable and quiet a good place to sleep. - It had 2 Fullsize beds, the atmosphere was very quiet very comfortable. the bathroom did not have shampoo, conditioner, and lotion.
- arthur (10/5): A Great Throwback to the Best Motels of Yesteryear - Old Mill Eatery nearby is great for most meals. The Pizza place on Shasta Dam Ave. is also good. Options are very limited for dining in town, but you can find most anything.
- David (10/5): - They turned on AC before we arrived . That was great! 👍
- TheOurkingdom (5/5): Ok not great. Chinese restaurant nearby was out of business. - Easy to get to from hiway 5 No pool. It was closed. Bathrooms was small and difficult to access toilet. Not many ac outlets. Air conditioner a little noisy. No nearby restaurants except fast food.
- Graham (10/5): - It’s clean and comfortable. My only issue was that I booked the room on one card, and had intended on charging the room to another card. Expedia told me the card I used to reserve the room would not be charged. When I got there to put the room on my company card they had already charged my personal card. Not that big a deal…just not what I was told would happen. Other than that the place was cleaned and comfortable with good amenities.
- Laura (10/5): - Property is visibly older but very well maintained, clean and equipped with all the modern day conveniences (fridge, microwave, coffee station, wifi). Its just off one of the surface streets so once or twice we could hear traffic but not in any way disruptive. Right off the freeway, perfect. Pricing was perfect for us. If you're looking for reasonably priced, convenient location with basic essentials this is a good spot. But if you're looking for bargain basement pricing with Ritz Carlton accommodation, keep looking. This place has charm and character and met our needs perfectly.
- Sierrasage (6/5): Adequate, but false advertising of pool - Online description included a pool. There was no pool, just a jumbled pile of concreate behind a fence. The large sign visible from the freeway also claims a pool.
The bathroom wastebasket had not been emptied from previous occupation.
- rice (10/5): - Great very clean affordable definitely going back
- Raul (10/5): - I rated this room as 5 stars while keeping the price of the room in mind. I paid $99 + tax and got a clean functional room with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, TV with basic cable, an air conditioner, and two very comfortable queen sized beds. It's a great deal for the price.
So often I see reviews where people pay a low price for a room and then complain they're not staying in a $250 room. I've learned to ignore these clueless individuals. In short, if you want a clean room with basic amenities and friendly staff, you've come to the right place.
Next time I'm in the area, I'll be sure to stay here again. I rate this place is excellent!
- Thomas (8/5): Solid budget choice for fishermen - Good budget choice for this area!
It's basic, and you get what you need, and nothing more, nothing less. Freindly staff and helpful.
- Jeff (9/5): Superb - 👍
- Joseph (8/5): Very good -
- Wendy (7/5): Just 1 night - Older motel just off interstate 5
Satisfactory for overnight stop
Good pizza shop in town and good cafe downtown for breakfast Quite outdated but price was cheap
- Mary (6/5): - It was fine
- Mike (8/5): Quaint - Very cozy Its a little too high in price but its comfy so it evens out
- eduardas (10/5): - Room was large size and has a separate kitchenette area.
- Cristy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charles (7/5): Good, basic motel, but no frills. - Proximity to a business I dealt with the next day. Room was basic and clean, warm. Outside appearance is almost shocking as to its age/condition, but inside the room wax find.
- John (8/5): It was very quiet and comfortable. - No breakfast but the location was great in accordance to my time on the lake. N/A
- Nikki (8/5): Rest and relaxing space!!!’ - Trees, nice wind thru property. Next to freeway however the property is definitely a nice vacation. Peaceful. Very kind staff, older motel but so clean. And bed was perfect. Great rest for the night after 6 hr trip.
- Nikki (8/5): Great value and comfort. - Peaceful beautiful!
- Michael (10/5): - Easy check in with easy freeway access. Thoughtful staff that explained where the thermostat was so that I could turn on the heat. My pup and I enjoyed and will visit again.
- Zeph (6/5): A cozy basic model experience. - A roadside motel in a cozy town. Being beside the road.
- Rebecca (5/5): It worked for a 1 night stay - The close vicinity to Redding. The whole property needs attention lawn was dry, pool was not open, rooms need updating
- Andres (10/5): AWESOME - Everything it's very cozy, location is surrounded by trees. Pool was not open
- JAMES (4/5): - Dirty towels noisy air conditioner
- Debra (1/5): It was the worst hotel I ever stayed in. Not even an ice machine. - It looked nothing like this picture. It was dry and dirt!
- Jim (1/5): Don’t stay here, it’s not clean and the owners seem to have given up on maintaining the property. - The location relative to Lake Shasta They advertise that they have a pool, but it was empty. They had a gas bbq, but it’s never been cleaned and when we put our hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill, it started a grease fire that ruined our food and took over 5 minutes after we turned the gas off to extinguish.
- Edward (8/5): - Conveniently located within a few blocks from highway on ramp. Quiet, clean
- Fitzgerald (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donna (2/5): - Expedia, strongly recommend you pull this listing from your site! I have trusted your advertised sites and been completely satisfied until now. Pictures on your site were totally deceptive. The “pool”was empty of water and surface was cracked; pool deck was full of garbage , so had been that way for some time. There was no “fire pit” but a dirty gas grill surrounded by broken rusted old kitchen chair- no tools to clean or grill with. The exterior was dilapitated with rain gutters almost fully detached. The room we were given was NOT the room I reserved on line. Instead of what looked like a clean, standard room with 1 king size bed, we got a room with 2 queen beds. The bedspreads were stained; the dresser was severely damaged with broken handles, 2 drawers were actually filled with putty around the edges so you could not open them. The bathroom window was broken and boarded up with plywood and wanting a shower after a long day of hiking and driving, when I turned on the water, bugs crawled out of the drain. Lastly, pulled the sheets and mattress cover back- BED BUGS EVERYWHERE; multiple mattress stains. Needless to say - we promptly left. The management was completely unforgiving .
- Fitzgerald (5/5): Good - Liked location close to shasta lake for fishing and the good price. Nothing
- Jason (10/5): - I would stay here again.
- Katerina (10/5): Great place!! - We stayed for one night. It was comfortable, and we were able to have a good rest. The beds were comfy, everything was super clean, the staff was friendly, and the surroundings were nice. We will definitely stay there again next time. Thank you!
- Gwen (1/5): Don't stay here. - It was very conveniently located off the 5 and easy to find. It was filthy, run down, grumpy staff. Zero amenities, more with a camp ground then this motel.
- Luellen (1/5): I decided to never book with booking.com again - last one booked had bed bugs. - location terrible, facilities awful. location terrible, facilities awful.
- Donna (4/5): Disappointing - Size of room but very run down. Run down old. Had to ask extra towels had three people with two towels.
- Roberto (10/5): - I stayed here in July when it was over 100 degrees outside. Room had great AC. Great location I went to the dam and took the tour. It’s 10 minutes away from dam or fishing at the lake. 2 minutes from the motorcycle shop. Very clean. Great WiFi. Very nice staff. Room had separate dining and kitchen area with fridge, freezer, microwave. Clean room and bathroom. Nice tv with lots of channels. I will stay here wherever I’m in the area. Very convenient. Walk to food options, gas station. Felt safe. Was easy to work on the laptop. It was quiet. Very enjoyable experience. Great value at this place. Better than more expensive chain motels and hotels that I’ve stayed at. And the best location for visiting the lake for fishing, boat ramp, or dam for tour and hiking.
- Leo (8/5): - Nice little quiet spot in the woods
- Sirius (3/5): Poor - I liked the stray cats outside WiFi was horribly slow, TV was nonfunctional, busted windows, dreary facility
- Pete (2/5): Health department should shut down this place - I didn’t stay. I checked in, then saw the condition of the room, with dead bugs on the floor and bedding. Floor was stained. At 10pm the room was extremely hot and stuffy because AC was left off on a hot day. I rejected the room and went to another motel (Super 8).
- Mark (4/5): - It was a lot like that movie The Bates hotel.. creepy
- Nico (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Sandy (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (3/5): Poor -
- David (10/5): - Let me check in early, quiet, just what you need shower hot water basic amenities everything works classic old motel.
- Tomhead (9/5): Fun to stay in a classic motel “court.” Clean, comfortable, casual & secure. - This was a true classic motel, with chairs outside the room for kickin back. Lots of pretty flowers. You can tell it is a bit of a “work in progress,” but there are lots of possibilities here. There’s a courtyard with a grill, a table & chairs. Lots of grass for walking the dog. Comfortable bed & great a/c. This place has a great opportunity to be really special. Fill up the pool & keep it heated! It would have been fun to swim here.
- Dieuwke (8/5): enjoyable! - it has a great garden. When the pool will be in use in the summer, it would be a great quiet place for people who want to visit Redding to enjoy a quiet motel 5 minute drive from Bethel. the windows in the back need to be washed. the quality of the complimentary shampoo was really bad.
- CARLOS (8/5): - Nice bed to rest after a long day of hiking
- Jennifer (7/5): It was fine and I liked that it was so near I-5. - The man who works at the front desk was very kind and cooperative. We got to the motel later than I expected but the man at the front desk was available to help us and he was very patient. The facility could use some updating all around, but, it was all what I expected.
- Robert (8/5): Very good - Clean room, comfortable bed, good shower, it was great for the price.
- Scott (10/5): Good motel - Clean and economical. Room had refrig and microwave. Dog friendly. It was a one night stay and it was easy to access and depart.
- Steven (10/5): Dropping off a motorcycle seat for customizing.
. - Price was par with the place. And, close to my planned destination after an 8 hour drive. The room was cleaner than I expected and came with a microwave and fridge. Parked car up to room door. No dislikes.
- Guy (10/5): - great location easy to access- good price
- Kathleen (10/5): - Nice and clean, the room was a little odd and the place is old,,too bad the pool is out of comision. I would stay there again if I needed a place close.
- Juliana (7/5): Good -
- Sharlet (10/5): Great stay! - It’s right next to the freeway and some gas stations .
The staff was amazing and rooms are huge !!
Omg and they have little kittens running around outside made my stay so fun!
- Carol (7/5): Good - It was clean, comfortable, quaint and quiet. It says pool but there was no water in it.
- Jamileh (10/5): - The rooms have a seperate kitchen ! Manger care about his customer! Motel located in a quiet area! Everything is perfect in this motel
- Stacy (8/5): Easy - Beds were more comfortable than I expected. Everything was clean. Staff was very nice. Everything worked/room was in order. Nothing- It was excellent for the price.
- Laura (6/5): Pleasant - Pool not working
- Teresa (1/5): Horrible. - This motel needs so much work. It's not being taken care of. I wouldn't even shower here, it looked too dirty. Everything!!
- menesleo (8/5): One night stay - The motel is not too far from the freeway exit. It is as expected for the price, although a bit outdated. The front desk is very accommodating and will wait for your late arrival as needed, just make sure to let them know ahead of time.
- Erik (10/5): - Gr
- Mona (2/5): Wouldn’t recommend unless the property has renovations and replacing all old appliances - The motel needs repair and maintenance Everything
- Jose (6/5): Pleasant -
- Matthew (7/5): Good -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mariel (7/5): Good -
- Alonso (1/5): Ugly, smelly, horrible location, never again. - Nothing Locations, surrounded by druggies
- Verified traveler (4/5): Fallen far - Very disappointed in this former favorite place to stay - the upkeep on the place and attention to customer detail is just nowhere near what it used to be. Guess we'll still have our memories of the better years...
- Marco (3/5): San Francisco Tenderloin hotel - It wasn't a pleasant stay unfortunately. Room 101 was not very good. I was seriously afraid to shower soap scum covered the walls beds were old. I've stayed in bad places before and this was one of the top 5.
- michael (8/5): - Cl
- Julie (3/5): Ok for one night, clean - Quiet, even though close to I5. Close enough to stores if needed. Space in the room was quite large. Parking was good. $20 per dog, "cash only". Nothing provided for animals other than being able to stay. Grass area (mostly seeds that stick to pups) available. AC was ok but no movement on the vent. Check in area felt a little claustrophobic and a bit unfriendly. This motel, could be so much more. But was a bit run down and dated. Pool not useable.
- Amy (2/5): Go a little further into Redding for a cleaner newer place that has soap! - Convenient location with affordable restaurant choices in area Old, tired everything. Paper thin towels, absolutely NOT a drop or scrap of soap in the room. Empty tissue box. HORRIBLY dirty windows and one window wouldn’t latch so banged around until I called front desk to come fix. Carpet really old-like back to the days when smoking allowed so had that gross musty smell. Didn’t want to shower there. Glad no kids with me. No hairdryer as ads claimed.
- Matthew (10/5): - This is a great hotel for under $100. It is Ma and Pa owned and has a Route 66 vibe to it and I liked the location of this motel. It is located right off the exit on Interstate 5, gas stations and food a block up the street. There is no riff raff near this moteI and it is very safe to stay here. I parked my vehicle just a couple of steps from my room and the room was large with ammenities, coffee maker, refrigerator and wi fi. The heat is central air and is great for Mt. Shasta winters. I can't wait to visit this place in the summer. Ma and Pa hotels are the best.
- Glenna (6/5): - Property is s
Dated but served it purpose for a quick overnight sleep. Was surprised by the dog surcharge but we did negotiate a better price which was good
- Murphey (9/5): Superb -
- Christopher (6/5): - With a little live this property could be amazing. The owner was extremely nice. It just seemed a bit run down
- Erica (6/5): - There was 3 or 4 guys sitting around the property and being 3 woman and the only ones there it was kind of creepy. The property didn't look at all like the pictures. It was pretty worn down and the beds were old. The windows were screwed shut.
- Henson (10/5): clean quiet good location - it was an older motel but in a
quiet location nothing it was clean and had
everything we needed for the
one night we stayed. staff was
friendly and informative
- George (8/5): Very good - It was clean and the location was convenient
Great value
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional - Kid friendly
- RICHARD (8/5): - Nice little location right next to McDonald's to grab something to eat and get back on the freeway this place is great just for somebody that needs to have a couple days to catch up on some rest.
- Crystal (8/5): - quiet and restful stay, pleasant people and welcoming
- Tyler (4/5): - This is a remote location. Feeling safe in a hotel/motel room is a priority. Several of the window's locks didn't work, I didn't feel safe in this location. There was a black stain on the pillowcase that looked like mold. The shower door didn't close all the way and had my mom been traveling with me this trip, she would not have been able to fit in the tiny area of the toilet. The price was enticing, it was pet friendly and quiet but I'll pay a little more for safety and cleanliness and stay elsewhere next time.
