Guest Reviews
- Miraç (7/5): - Gayet iyi
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Check in is at a different location, parking is not easily accessible
- Marielena (10/5): - This is the 2nd time I’ve stayed at Atypical Rooms in the last 4 years, and the experience has been wonderful both times. The rooms are spacious, modern, good WiFi, AC, great water shower water pressure and clean rooms. They do have a lift in the building, it’s small but at least it works. Although there is no staff on site other than the housekeeper, staff is very responsive via whatsup to anything you need. As a matter of fact, this last time I forgot an item after I checked out and they were kind to arrange to have the forgotten item to be mailed to me. The management owes another hotel on the same block, so if you need to have your luggage stored after check out they offer that option for your luggage to be kept at their other hotel near by, which is a always a nice option to have.
I do love this location…The Roma Termini was walking distance about 15 mins away, and all the other main attractions are also walking distance such as the Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain, coliseum, Pantheon, and Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica. Bus stop is right across the street, which one of the bus lines takes you directly to the Vatican. This hotel is on a Main Street, so even walking late at night as a woman with my elderly mother I felt safe around this area.
- Justin (5/5): Not our sort of place - Nothing much except annonymity An annonymous room with no staff or reception. Room was definitely atypical. As for view forget it.
- Ming Pow (8/5): - Great place, clean. You do have to check in in the building next door. Also, the phone in our room didn’t work. They did give us a local number to call anytime but took a while to respond to our requests.
- Justin (5/5): OK for a basic room - A typical room exactly. Basic and unserviced by reception. Ordinary , no reception or service. Not smart like photos . A room in a building highly over stated in photos that gave impression of a reception desk and promise of a view. Very ordinary.
- Michele (6/5): it was fine - the location was within walking distance to the termini and facilities were clean. would akin it to a standard 3 star hotel. the staff was very informative and accommodating. the check in is a couple of doors down at another hotel, and it was a little confusing figuring out the room numbers. for the price, the value is just ok.
- Mélanie-mimi (8/5): Overall, very nice hotell where everything seems brand new☺️. - Amazing room with the best service😊. Breakfast was also amazing, just remember that breakfast on Sunday’s starts at 07:30 and not 06:30. The hotel is near everything down town Rome city central. Just stay away from the night shop around the corner, it’s super expensive. What you see in the pictures is what you get. Beautiful hotel room. Keep in mind, there is no door into the bathroom. This was very awkward seeing as I was traveling with my boyfriend for the very first time😂. If one of us had to go number 2, we used the lavatory in the hall across the breakfast area. Also, the shower faces the bed to when your showering, your partner will see you shower whilst your partner is laying in the bed🤣😅.
- Ezgi (3/5): Nothing worth the price. - The location was good and staff was helpful. The elevator broke down in the first day of our visit. We were staying on the 4th or 5th floor and had to take the stairs all the way during four days, with carrying lots of stuff. And it wasn't fixed. The room was not clean, and the chair was full of spots. The surface was also not clean. The bathroom was leaking water, so it was all wet after a shower. They did not have slippers in the room and also no extra towel. We had to ask for it each time. Also, the room was cold, and the AC was not blowing hot.
It was definitely not worth the price.
- Ross (7/5): Good - As advertised, straightforward and simple. Good location.
- Nilufer (8/5): good size room with high ceilings, was practical as one could walk to train station - we did not have breakfast the elevator very tight
- Susanne (10/5): Great room. Great location - 20 minute walk from the station. Easy check in with sister hotel next door. Able to store luggage with them prior to check in.
Lift up to our 3rd floor.
Excellent room, modern facilities. Excellent A/ C
Cleaned ever day. We booked an extra large bed. It was huge and very comfortable!
Excellent location..15-20 min walk to Colosseum, Trevi fountain and lots of restaurants etc Although it didn't bother us. The huge double shower was in the room with no privacy glass . The toilet was in a separate area so all good. :).
- Amjad (10/5): Great hotel and location - Great hotel and location
- Moataz (8/5): Very good -
- Khaled (7/5): Good -
- Kelly (5/5): Passable - The room was clean There was no reception person on duty ..literally had to go to another hotel 2 doors down and leave our luggage and to check In And check out..they were nice but we literally had nobody at our hotel..at our building!! Was not communicated to us that we would have to do all this so was extremely frustrating and confusing especially in a different county and language…we had no coffee In our room and advertised there would be …and the 1 key we were given had to stay in room to keep the lights on And that was extremely stressful ..irritating and inconvenient because you needed they key to get back onto floor ..so one person had to get woken up to come unlock the hotel door!!!..the courtyard view they advertised was literally an alley In the back of the hotel…very misleading!! Beds were hard and not comfortable..but room was clean..if you just need a place to crash it’s ok..but for $150…I expect a bit more than a uncomfortable bed in a clean room Would not recommend!!
- Shauna (7/5): Hot. - Good location and very clean. AC was 100% or 0%. No blankets provided therefore we opted for no AC.
- Mary (9/5): Superb -
- Abraham (1/5): Concerning - I put All my valuables in the safe box cause I am traveling Europe for a month, later that day when I arrived at the room the safe box was not there, I obviously Panicked and went straight to the reception they couldn’t explain to me what happened and after 10 LONG minutes they gave the safe box to me, they tried to explain the situation but it was an awful experience.
- Ryan (9/5): Superb -
- Niranjan (1/5): Bad -
- Romariocarlos (10/5): Exceptional - An employee at the reception office named Rida was very professional and pleasant. Answered all our questions and was very helpful. We want to thank her!
- Sarah (8/5): Excellent room, if not a little overpriced, in a great location. Perfect for a family of three. - Excellent location, close to the Colosseum and Santa Maria Maggiore. Lovely building. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We would have liked better coffee making facilities in the room. There was a small kettle with a very poor selection of tea and coffee. We expected better tea and coffee facilities for the price of the room. A Nespresso machine would have been perfect.
- Lund (5/5): Needs some love and attention put into it - It was clean The entry was dirty and unwelcoming
We waited an hour to get in
The 24 hour service is not really accurate- you have to go to a hotel 2 doors down to check which was confusing .
- Michel (7/5): Rome is amazing. The neighbourhoods is great if you want the best’s restaurant, cafe and bars. - The location, access and room space. Isolation wasn’t good. A bit too warm inside and noisy with rooms located on the street side.
You need know that there is the Caffè Delle Esposizioni where you can party until 2am during week end.
Drunk people outside screaming and singing. This can be a negative of positive info. Depending on what you are looking for :)
Other then that it was great.
- Mehmet (1/5): Cheating - Nothing It was not the property I booked for. They cheat people with nice photos and force people to stay somewhere else. The room I booked through booking.com after I saw the photos is totally different then I had to stay.
- Lydia (8/5): Very good -
- Geyu (8/5): Overall I recommend staying here. In winter the price is very reasonable. - The location was fabulous, you could walk pretty much everywhere except for the Vatican. Big room, plenty of space to hang cloth, fold and unfold your suitcases. There is a small elevator too. We did early check-in and it cost about 20 30 euros. If you need it, it's pretty good. Easy communication too. The lighting in the bathroom is sketchy. If you turn all the lights and fans on, it's blinking all the time. It's annoying. After the elevator, there was an elevated entry for the room, so it was not fully accessible. They are equipped with entry gate security cards on the floor for atypical rooms, but it does not occupy an entire hotel building, the building consists of multiple hotels on different levels. So if you are concerned about the safety issue, don't stay here.
- Gjcardona (7/5): Good -
- Selin (10/5): Exceptional - amazing room, comfy beds and so close to all the attractions!! everything was amazing
- Abu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (9/5): Very good room and location but the curtain/blind wasn’t good enough to block the street lights. Made getting to sle -
- Simon (4/5): Rooms with air conditioning... But not really - Proximity to local attractions was excellent. Room was very clean. Value would have been great if only the Aircon had worked. Despite advertising the room as having air conditioning, this was deactivated. Unfortunately this triggered the worst stay we have ever experienced as the rooms get incredibly hot; to make matters worse, we had opted for a "room with a view" which opened out onto the busiest road in Rome.
After pleading with staff to fix our Aircon, and promises of sending an engineer etc, two days later they informed us that it's an Italian policy to disable the air conditioning and that it cannot be switched on for one room. Not their fault but what is their fault is advertising the room as having Aircon in the first place and taking two days to tell us that it wasn't broken but intentionally disabled. There is no mention of this within the booking.com listing. Had we known, we would have cancelled our booking and gone to a private apartment, or at least moved to a less busy location.
As it stood, each night we anguished over whether to open the window for some "fresh" air, letting in constant (and we mean constant) noise from the road, including the local emergency services blazing past every 15 minutes (there's a local fire department over the road), midnight roadworks, drunken shouting etc. along with the foul stenches of the street below. Alternatively, we could keep the window shut and the room temperature spiked into the high 20s/low 30s. Either way, we simply couldn't sleep, which affected our entire holiday and resulted in a miserable experience.
Also, the reception desk was unmanned 99% of the time, as far as we could tell, which meant having to pop next door to their sister hotel.
- Husref (6/5): Pleasant - Location. Lots of shopping nearby. Old looking. Single bed mattress uncomfortable
- Sarah (6/5): Good location but soulless - Functional clean room. A bit anonymous. 3rd floor lift hit and miss. No view
- Hana (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant -
- Martin (5/5): Passable - We stayed in room with window to main street and noise especially during night was really bothering. Window was not isolating enough and noise was disturbing.
- Cusati-moyer (4/5): Disappointing -
- Kathleen (8/5): Very good -
- Passman (10/5): Very comfortable very clean - Clean and comfortable pillows and bed Visible shower and no reception in The same building
- Nina (7/5): Good - clean, nice design, quiet, location, good shower pressure, good pillows No slippers, No curtain to block out light from bathroom window, Bathroom open to room (so not good for 2 people that want privacy from each other), No staff ever,, very cold AC that was difficult to figure out
- Ruggieri (4/5): Disappointing - When I arrived there was no soap in the dispensers I couldn't believe it came from an overnight transatlantic flight no soap. Very few towels and the lights were a disaster. Somewhere broken or didn't work properly so the lighting was very uneven.
I just don't like the layout of this hotel every floor is a different hotel and anyone can come walk into the building and climb up the stairs.
For over 550 year or a night there should be more security.
My last night at 1:45 in the morning I was awakened by multiple men yelling laughing probably drinking they carried on for at least 90 minutes. They woke me before 2 AM and I was up for the rest of the night though saving a horrible night's sleep.
Maybe they were all sharing one room but I was paying for ther myself so the value was horrible for me.
Very disappointed. As a single female traveler I would never ever recommend.
- Debra (7/5): Good -
- Isobel (9/5): Ryder Cup weekend with family!!! - Great location. Very friendly staff. The rooms are linked to the hotel 2 doors down and they could help everything. The rooms are modern and clean with a stocked fridge and tea/coffee facilities. Good shower. They are also returning some property we left behind! No conditioner in the shower.
- Bojgua (10/5): it was lovely, will come back - it was comfy and stylish, in the center ^^ N/A
- Yvonne (8/5): Very good - Location, excellent staff care and attention!
- Faisal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (9/5): Superb -
- Nicholas (9/5): Nice place. We’d use it again - Good size room with an individual style. The fridge worked intermittently
Could have done with a rubbish bin in the room (there was only one small one in the bathroom)
- Azuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Colin (9/5): Nice, just outside the busyness but still nice restaurants walking distance - Nice and modern. Good shower, nice bed. Nothing!
- Abdelaziz (7/5): Good -
- Mansor (6/5): It's was good - It was good location There is no reception and expensive
- Donny (10/5): We really loved the room. Everything was top notch including the AC! - Spacious room. Very clean and comfortable. Excellent location Can’t think of a thing!
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - The location and accommodations were great. couldn't be any closer to everything we wanted to see

Quiet, clean, nice, friendly staff
Good asstistance via WhatsApp Would have been great if every window had curtains. It was quiet bright in the early morning
- Renato (7/5): very acceptable -
- Damian (10/5): Really well thought out accommodation in the heart of Rome. Luxury at a budget price. - Really nice design, good facilities and amazing location at an unbeatable price. Checkin was smooth and the staff were really communicative and friendly. It was perfect.
- Parminder (9/5): Overall pretty good experience. - Size and cleanliness of the room. Checking in process.
- Ghassan (9/5): Superb -
- Jan-børre (9/5): Comfortable stay at very central location. - Fantastic location, very responsive staff (via Whatsapp), nicely designed rooms. Walking distance to major sights, plenty of nice restaurants around the hotel. A little bit pricey.
- Taneja (8/5): Very good - The elevators were out of service for more than 12 hours….make sure you are good on your cardio before you come here :)
- Melanie (10/5): Beautiful modern retreat in the middle of the city!! Amazing Service and Facilities!! Book it!! - What a charming place to stay in Rome. We booked 3 rooms for our entire family and all the rooms were unique and beautiful inside. Everyone in the group loved their room and the facilities. So modern and fresh and the hotel was super clean and was always nice and cool and a great retreat from the hot Roman summer. The beds were comfortable and the room had plenty of space to spread out and hang clothes and open multiple suitcases at once. The bathrooms were so well done and modern. The staff was super helpful and would answer within minutes of any text and helped us with any questions we had. We arrived early and they were super accommodating with keeping our bags and getting our rooms ready as fast they could. The location is absolutely amazing and so close to many restaurants, shops and sites. Would definitely stay here again if we come to Rome. In fact, a few members of our party came back at the end of the trip for another few nights. GREAT hotel!! There is nothing we didn't like.
- Anonymous (8/5): We had a nice stay. - The ceiling of our room, how clean it was, and good location. Communication through text was easy. Any time we requested something through text, we were able to get help. It is not a hotel, but a room in a building next to the hotel. We had to go next door to go to breakfast, and there was no attendant in the building we stayed at. The room was nice but I wish the bathroom had counter space.
- Ryan (10/5): Easy check-in, comfy room, very exposed shower. - Nice small hotel. Staff communicated well via Booking.com and WhatsApp. Check in was made very easy via lockbox outside the hotel door.
The room was nice and unique, atypical if you will. Our room (88) had an internal view so not a real view at all so we just kept the curtains closed.
We only stayed one night and did not have time in the morning to enjoy any of their amenities before checking out. We enjoyed the property and if we had to pick one thing to say we didn’t like it as that the shower is basically front and center in the room. This is ok for a couple but I can’t imagine friends or family would enjoy the shower placement all too well.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb - The staff excellent and the room was very clean The hotel is more of an apartment rather than a hotel.
- Anonymous (9/5): Great location and good value - It’s location and convinience. Also with support from staff when we need it Little confusing at the beginning
- Teresa (7/5): Good - Nice room Noise from street - especially sirens
- Huda (7/5): Good - spacious bathroom , and room check in process was in the building next door not in the same building, it took me sometimes to check in.
- Audrey (7/5): overall you can get other better hotel at a lower rate with better facilities . at - near to Monti area and city centre. taxi stand just across the street.
shower has strong pressure snd hot water. bed and pillows are comfortable. room is too expensive for the size. Nothing is provided - no shampoo or body soap. no free water . Tv only has Italian movies and no Neflix or YouTube. very basic facilities. aircon control was hard to control the temperature. triple room does not have 2 bedrooms. it’s a sofa bed.
- Elias (9/5): Really enjoyed the stay would do it again - Great Location. Staff very responsive. Room is clean Layout of the room was interesting with shower in the room. Not an issue if you are a couple
- Sawanya (10/5): Perfect - The cleanliness is the most impressive for me. The room and property is newly built in a modern style. The room was well prepared as very clean and comfortable. Moreover, the staff is super support as always be there for you, as well as provide some useful suggestions for your trip e.g. restaurants and attractions. I would definitely come back and recommend friends to come!
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good - good security
elegant decor
quiet no opportunity to store bags
- Neil (8/5): my only complaint was the property was very expensive for what it was. I realise it was last minute and I am very please - the location and comfort of the bed The fact we never saw a receptionist. I didn’t actually know this property was self-serve hotel and it was very well Run to be honest
- Guido (10/5): Modern facility and very central position - Very modern and comfortable
- Robert (10/5): was great. it was rather expensive. but great. - clean and quiet.
- Yvonne (10/5): - Sparkling clean and modern. Spacious enough for a family of three, and the location is excellent!
- Niamh (9/5): Superb -
- Luigiz10 (6/5): Pleasant - They did not help on a double booking mistake that was reported at least a month before the due date and I ended up paying for 2 rooms for the same period
- Yasmin (8/5): Great location! - the best thing is the location! I have been to Rome 3 times and by far, this is the best location. You can go walking to almost all the the touristic locations The lack of employees in the reception. There was someone in the reception in the morning for some hours, but we never saw anyone during the afternoon and evenings. We had 2 days in a row a problem with our cards, they were deactivated and we couldn’t enter the room. First day it was solved quickly, but the second day, the incident happened around 9:30pm. We texted the hotel (whatsap chat available 24/7), and we waited 15 minutes until someone came.
Issues were always solved, but it’s nice to have someone in the reception, not only in the morning…
- Carmi (10/5): - Great Location, cleanliness, small elevator, overall it’s good compare to other hotel.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Megan (10/5): Bliss - The staff were lovely, very helpful.
Contactless check in and out was also very handy.
The location was central too, you can hop on a scooter which are situated all around the city, and you are just minutes away from all of the cities attractions.
- Danielle (7/5): Good -
- Jolanta (8/5): Very good -
- Emre (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and modern designed. Comfortable beds. Clean and comfortable bathroom. A lot of choices for lighting. Check-in was made in another hotel, which is nextdoor.
- John4321 (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (9/5): Superb - The location was fantastic for most tourist attractions being walking distance from the hotel.
Very easy to get to from the train station only 8 min walk.
Staff were great and very helpful
- Hamish (8/5): Very good -
- Alexandros (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabi (9/5): Comfy and central location - Outstanding room, very different and cosy. Everything comfortable. Walking distance (18min) to Central Station and other central areas. It is located in a very busy avenue, although our room was not noisy. Communication from staff could be improved, as they need to give us instructions on how to access the room and check out info
