• Jeannette (9/5): GREAT ACCOMMODATIONS AT A GREAT PRICE! - Clean, cozy place! Practically private beach! (No one in either direction for probably an eighth to a quarter mile!) Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful! Price was affordable, especially when compared to all other options I considered. Wonderful to have someone more concerned with making a PROFIT than making a KILLING!! If you're mobility-impaired, as we are, the walk to the beach is a bit daunting. Some distance and lots of stairs. Perfect if you're youngish or in good shape though!

• Cristina (10/5): Wonderful - This hotel is very cute. We loved that it isn’t a typical corporate ran hotel and has a family feel to it. The owners are beyond kind and hospitable. We loved the outdoor games area and were pleasantly surprised by the assortment of beach supplies they have on hand in case you forgot something. We will definitely stay here again! Only downside and not at all the fault of the property owners is the walk to the beach is a little far if you or someone in your party has mobility issues.

• Stephen (8/5): Clean, comfortable room, supplied with everything we needed, near the beach, friendly vibe - Like a motel of an earlier era, but refurbished and personable, so it really is a great value and a pleasant stay. The room was bright, the bed was comfortable and the shower was good. The beach is an easily accessed via a walkway. There is a convenience store across the street and restaurants a couple blocks away. We stayed one night and were very pleased with the accommodation. No concerns.

Towels, surfboards, umbrellas, beach toys. And they're super nice with children! There's also a friendly cat that loves to greet you in the lobby!
• Chris (8/5): A Welcoming Mom-and-Pop Stay by the Beach - The owner and staff were friendly and helpful during our stay. At first glance, it appears to be an older motel, which might make you hesitate, but once inside you’ll find clean rooms that have been renovated with a modern vibe. The location is convenient, with beach access, a Dollar General directly across the street for anything you may need or forget (walkable), and it’s about 5 miles from the aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores. There are also some thoughtful extras available for guest use, like boogie boards, beach towels, and bikes, plus a cute courtyard area with seating and grills. The beach access includes several sections of stairs leading up to a platform and then a longer set of stairs down to the beach. It’s not ideal if you’re bringing a wagon or a lot of gear, and it may be difficult for anyone with limited mobility.

Very friendly and will attend to any need you - The property was just a close walk to the beach (just not wagon friendly due to the amount of stairs), has an amazing courtyard with a lot of area for entertainment! Also, this is a great place to meet new strangers that become friends!!

The property was not at all what was portrayed to us on the website.

• Andrew (1/5): Don’t give any money to these people, they are thieves and dishonest. Owner cursed us out when we checked out. The place - Close to the beach that’s it AC didn’t work properly and maintenance (owners dad) was clueless about the issues. The oven didn’t work even though we paid for a functional kitchen. There were cockroach nymphs in the bathrooms and hallway. We had to shake out all our clothes and belongings when we got home. At first the owner seemed ok, even offered $40 off from the issues, but upon checkout she cursed us out and said we would call it even because we “tried to sneak our pet in”. The only reason I picked this place is because booking said it was pet friendly. I also signed at check in that I brought my pet. I was honest from day one. They actually charged me several days later an extra $50 they said they wouldn’t charge. They are totally dishonest and are thieves.

There were plenty of amenities that I used and would have used more if it had been a longer stay. The check in was a bit confusing as I requested an early check in but never received a confirmation or rejection of the request.

There were boogie boards and beach umbrellas for any of the guest to use. Staff were very friendly and made us feel like family. In the back there was cornhole, a big sitting area, a huge outdoor grill with a bar/prep area and a fridge, ping pong table and a nice shaded walkway to the beach. Walking distance to several restaurants and a dollar general. Close to Emerald Isle, the Aquarium and Atlantic Beach.

It has a private beach access which is really nice. I also appreciated the free umbrellas and other amenities available. There was a nice patio section with games like tic-tac-toe and connect four. There was also a nice grill that is free to use. The cleanliness of the room could've been better. There was sand in the room when we first got there and the sheets also had sand on them, which didn't come from us. However, it didn't affect our stay negatively.

• Chamblis (1/5): Red Flag Warning - Proximity to beach The manager, Kristina, overcharged me $491 which she acknowledged and said she had initiated a refund. Chase bank said the refund request would come through immediately while Kristina is trying to convince be it could take 7 to 10 days. She keeps giving me excuses as to why I’m not seeing evidence of a refund. She screams at me on the phone and hangs up on me like I’m bothering her. You can draw your own conclusions. My bank is going after them.
• Darren (10/5): A night besides the Atlantic - Off the beaten-track. A decent sized and clean room. Facilities for self-catering, including a hob, microwave oven, fridge-freezer and a kitchen sink. Comfortable beds. A peaceful location because we were the only residents. It was lovely to be able to wake up and enjoy a morning stroll to a deserted beach. There are amenities at the western end of the island & a Dollar General store across from The Beacon. Enjoyed a natter with the hostess N/a
• Laura (5/5): Overall, I felt gross when I left there. I’d say it’s a second- rate fleabag motel. - The beach was close. The bed was comfortable. Owner and staff were nice enough. Well, the freezer hadn’t been thawed, the coffee pot was only 6 cup, there were not enough accessible electric outlets, lighting was horrible! Lipstick marks on coffee cup, roach in bathroom, turn on light and it was strobing effect. The ac dripped water into the kitchen trashcan all night like water torture. Insufficient stocked kitchenette. Entire outside area was just wrong- poor astroturf and a nasty lounge area with weirdly placed swings that are unusable. The walkway to beach was downright treacherous with bowed wood, poor rails, steep stairs. However, kudos to the old trees and foliage. I think the clientele they are used to dealing with are okay with the place, and I guess it was okay for the price.
• Bryce (10/5): EXCELLENT! - The owner, Christina, was absolutely wonderful! She went out of her way to make sure we were happy the entire time. The rooms were adorable, and the whole place had such a charming vibe. There’s even a cozy outdoor area just steps from the beach access! I’d 100% recommend this inn and would definitely stay here again!

• Carly (4/5): - Great location, renovated parts are lovely The front-loaded photos here are of the renovated rooms. Our room looked nothing like this and was very sparse, like the rooms shown last. When they finish the renovations, it will be a super cute motel, and a great deal for the money. Suggestions for the meantime: Switch up the cleaning chemical brand so it doesn’t smell harsh on arrival; add a chair; add more space to store clothes; fix the doors so they don’t have gaps; add window treatments that allow light to come in when drawn so you can have both light and privacy; add a wall-mounted hair dryer so it’s always available to guests but can’t be stolen.

• Julie (10/5): This pet friendly, hidden gem is the perfect escape and to call home away from home. - Conveniently located- Just a short walk from the beach. The rocking chairs outside the rooms were a nice touch in addition to all the other outdoor seating options. Pet friendly!! Crystal (I believe her name is) was very friendly from the moment I stepped through the door. She clearly loves people and what she does! I’m having a hard time thinking of anything! Perhaps the lack of hairdryer in the room, but I came prepared with my own. However, Crystal offered me hers to use if I needed it!
• Robert (9/5): Good value. - Comfortable, clean accommodations made for a relaxing stay. Many amenities (kitchenette, grill, games, etc) and a short walk to the a wonderful beach. Very friendly staff. A well maintained older motel close to a lot of attractions. Look forward to visiting again, only longer next time.

We liked the fact we were able to make our own meals and weren't forced to eat out all the time, we ate out just for a treat. Look forward to staying again, only longer next time. They also have various beach toys/boogie boards/ chairs which you can borrow if you need too.Super nice people. I absolutely recommend this place. I didn't find anything about this place I didn't like.

• Buice (4/5): Property manager opened our door in the middle of the night, very dissatisfied with our stay. - Super quick walk to the beach. I arrived around 1pm with my small children and were told there was no public bathroom we could use in the lobby prior to check in. We went across the street to the dollar general to change into bathing suits and use the restroom. Around 10:30pm my small children and I were asleep and I woke to pounding on the door. I thought it was likely the neighbor drunk pounding on their door. After 3 more times, our door was opened. I was completely disoriented with kids asleep and total caught off guard and had no idea who was entering my room. It was the property manager who said someone was having an emergency but had the room. Prior to entering she did not say who she was or what was happening. There was no bar to put on the door and it was extremely off putting. The photos online are inaccurate as things haven’t been up kept as they appear. I would not recommend.
