Guest Reviews
- Andre (7/5): - Staff was really lovely and helpful
- Dorreene (10/5): Charming riad - It's a beautiful old riad with a lot of charm. Each room has a unique Moroccan decor. Given the building's age (over 250 years old), there is no elevator. The climb up narrow stairs to the top floor was challenging. Our host very kindly moved us down to the ground floor, which we really appreciated. The location was perfect--on the edge of the souk, but 20 feet from a taxi stand.
E' semplicemente buonissimo e a prezzi competitivi.

Rien
- Ine (10/5): Amazing location, cool decor and fantastic for kids. - It was amazingly located. Anass arranged the guide (kids loved the ‘workshops’) and the hamam (even the kids could come, it was an amazing experience for them). The Riad has authentic cool decor, just one minute walk from the medina, and easy to park. Very kind to our kids of 4 and 8, we highy recommend this place’ if we will be back in Fez i would definitely come here.
- Julien (10/5): - Accueil incroyable, chambre spacieuse, emplacement idéal
- Sara (10/5): Riad Ibn Battouta is a breathtakingly beautiful, calm, airy oasis amid Fez’s hustle and bustle, conveniently located ste - Stunningly gorgeous rooms and common areas adorned with ornate mosaic, painted cedar, stained glass windows, and carved stone and plaster. (The photo accompanying this booking does NOT do it justice.) Exceptionally helpful (attentive without being overbearing) staff and the owner’s a real class act — ask about the design features of his renovation! The spa’s masseuse truly has magic hands. Delicious food with breakfast on the “continental” side so if you really need egg/protein (which I didn’t but I had to come up with some sort of constructive input for this review), you should request.
- Melinda (10/5): A quiet, spectacular and luxurious stay in a great location (1 minute walk to taxi). - Every inch of the property is gorgeous- the tile, plaster and wood work, lighting, ceilings in rooms, stained glass, absolutely stunning! The staff were very helpful and attentive. The hammam and massage with Fatima was so refreshing. We had a very rainy day and were so happy to have hammam and dinner in this beautiful location. It was not a problem for us but there are many stairs (all beautifully tiled!) needed to reach the rooms.
- Paul (9/5): - The host was extremely helpful. Accommodations were very clean and comfortable. The location is just outside the medina which we preferred for some peace from tourism and the chaos.
- José (10/5): - Excelente atendimento e conforto;
Localização muito boa;
Instalações encantadoras e com muitas características locais;
No pude dormir

RIEN ! Tout était parfait.
- Zohair (10/5): -
- Robert (9/5): Great - Right in amongst all the attractions but peaceful with a beautiful central atrium and rooms. Also served an excellent dinner.
- Ferdinand (10/5): Great hotel. Wonderful staff. Highly recommended. Would stay here again. - The staff made the stay memorable. From the moment I arrived, Annas, Mohammed and Siham were wonderful. Very friendly, accommodating. The rooms were so spacious. The bed was great - king size and very comfortable. The breakfast was so good - variety of breads, sometimes fruit, or yogurt, coffee but if you ask for Moroccan mint tea they will accommodate you. Location was great, less than 10-minute walk from Blue Gate and many restaurants.
- Jeanne (9/5): Our hostess was charming and all the staff cheerful and helpful. We were able yo chsnge our booking to a cooker toom whe - Beautiful traditional Riad, rather like a palace. Steep steps to the upper floors.
- Joanne (8/5): A beautifully restored riad in a great place at a reasonable price. - The room was beautiful and the balcony lovely in the evening but a bit too hot during the day. We stayed on the top floor which is up several flights of stairs so not suitable for people with mobility problems. However, there are rooms on lover floors which also looked fantastic. The location is perfect, just outside the median and handy for seeing the sights. The people running the riad are very welcoming and helpful. The air conditioning in our room wast working when we arrived but it was quickly sorted out. The card reader was also not working when we checked out so we had to get cash out of the nearby bank to pay.
- Durgesh (9/5): Beautiful Riad with Amazing Service!!! - The location is perfect, very close to main road and blue gate. Staff is awesome they try to help you as much as possible. For a trip we had to leave early and they prepared breakfast for us an hour early than usual time. I would definitely live here in future. The suite we booked was quite a high floor, they did help us with luggage and everything but there were lots of steps to climb. I might book a suite which is lower floor. Also they don’t speak much English so sometime it’s little hard to explain what you need.
- Mohamad (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing stay in a beautiful riad. Our Riad was more beautiful than most museums we visited in Fes. Amazing staff, and deli
- James (8/5): We would stay again. - The property and room was beautiful! I love the winding steep stairs. I felt like a princess with the vaulted ceiling over the bed and the balcony was a plus.
- Mary (9/5): Superb - The hotel and rooms have beautiful original features and the location is very good. We would definitely recommend staying there again!
- Paweł (10/5): Exceptional - Incredible place super close to medina. Our apartament was stunning - it looked even better then on the pictures!
I appreciate great communication with the stuff as well and parking recommrndation which was important for me. Everything was great :)
- Oleg (5/5): Hospitality is not Moroccan - Just how Ryad looks and the location. Nothing more. Terribly unfriendly staff. They were stingy with the eggs at breakfast! They brought us one portion, we asked to make another scrambled egg, to which the man said maybe tomorrow! It's just cringe! Moreover, at night there are always some conversations, watching TV series with loud sound, at night the phone at the reception rings loudly several times. They also settled us right opposite a building under construction without warning! After I wrote to the owner of the hotel, they changed the room, but still the mood remained spoiled. In the second room the mattress is so old that you sleep as if in a hole. Despite the fact that the Riad is very beautiful, everything described above spoiled the impression of hospitality. I strongly do not recommend it.
- Shekhar (10/5): Amazing stay and great service - It’s a beautiful property with amazing mortician decor vibe. Each suite is designed well. Also hamam and spa was great experience and was well arranged for for us. Very close to the Medina
- Movaffagh (7/5): Good -
- Ottavia (10/5): The Best Stay in All of Morocco! - Our experience at this riad was truly amazing—by far the best stay we had during our entire trip to Morocco. The place is beautifully curated, exceptionally clean, and full of charm. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged, making it feel like a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city.
As an added bonus, the riad recommended Mounir as our driver, and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better! We spent 5 days driving around Morocco with him—he was always on time, full of great insights, and brought so much positive energy to our trip with his big smile and kind attitude. Highly recommended!
- Alfredo (10/5): Exceptional - The Riad Is gourgeous Nothing
- Danby (9/5): I stayed with my three children and we all enjoyed the location, beautiful Riad and delicious breakfast - The property is beautifully presented and a brilliant location in walking distance to main attractions in Fes. The staff were delightful, so helpful and warm, thank you for a lively stay
- Sukhjinder (1/5): Bad - Location Owner and his wife were terribly rude was rude. He hung up the phone on me in the middle of a conversation. Has not bothered to respond to my whatsapp message. His wife screamed and shouted at us before we left because we were upset at being charged euro 25 for salad. The breakfast was preprepared and left on the table way ahead of our arrival. The owners wife and ladies talked non stop every morning when all we wanted was some peace and quiet. Upon our arrival the owner gave us a room 9n the fourth level and kept on insisting that it was our fault that we did not request for a room at a lower level. He moved us downstairs only after we decided to move out to stay elsewhere. All in all a horrible experience. The worst that we have had during our forty years of travel
- Susan (10/5): Wonderful, easy, pleasant experience. - Clean! Good location! Kind staff. Shout out to Anass and Fatima!
- Jelena (9/5): Superb - Very welcoming staff. Riyad is very nice, and the location is very close to the city center. They will help you with anything you need—whether it's a guide, a taxi, or advice, they're always ready to assist you. There is no set menu in the Riad, so it's best to be well-prepared and ask in advance about the dinner options and prices. We didn't do that, so we ended up paying more per person than expected. The TV was not working and was not fixed during our stay.
- Amj16 (9/5): Great - The visit was great thanks to the warm hospitality of Anass and the rest of the staff. The Riad is very nice, the rooms are large and comfortable and the location is perfect, very close to the main entrance of the Medina. Without a doubt, highly recommended.
- Leesa (9/5): Location, decor and in house hammam - I was surprised this riad is not in the medina however the location is perfect. The secure parking is literally 80metres away and being on the edge of the medina was convenient and quiet.
I especially booked this riad for the decor and the in house hammam. The riad is immaculately maintained though the shower and water availability to Damas room was not reliable - sometimes no water which would return after 30mins.
My children and I really enjoyed the hammam experience for €20 per child and €50 for me which included a 30min massage. Fatima’s hands were magic! It seemed very expensive but I paid for the security of my children being alone in the room while I enjoyed the massage. Other properties have provided copious supplies of bottled water, but we only received 2L over the 2 night stay for 3 people. I had the most expensive washing done, €49! The same amount washed in Italy was €25. I should’ve asked the price beforehand, I was completely shocked. Weirdly the washing was outsourced rather than using the washing machine and dryer on our floor.
- Jo (10/5): Exceptional - Very kind, helpfull and generous
- Dawner303 (10/5): Gorgeous Riad & Lovely Owners - I stayed here from Feb. 5 to 8 in the Samarquand Suite. I found the riad to be just gorgeous! The hosts were a lovely couple who were frequently around and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. Breakfast was provided every day and I also had dinner there too. One evening, I was struggling with a bad tooth, and they went out of their way to make soup for me, which really was quite sweet! They also arranged for a small load of my laundry to be done, which was fantastic.
Slight Negative: Okay, so this one might be totally on me I think. When I arrived, it was late, I was exhausted and the weather was chilly. I just assumed the riad did not have heat. I absolutely froze in my room at night. After I left, I met some lovely travelers who mentioned that the air conditioning units typically also have heat. I was stunned. I did recall seeing an air con unit in the room but it never occurred to me to investigate it for heat. So basically I froze for no reason haha.

- Yassine (3/5): Not guest friendly - The night porter informed us that we must return to the hotel by 11:00 PM, or we would be locked out because he wants to sleep. Extremely unprofessional to tell your guests something like this. If you can’t accommodate guests properly, don’t list yourself on a hotel website! On top of that, there was no hot water during the night, and the breakfast was very limited. Find a hotel where you feel welcome and not one that enforces rules like a homeless shelter.
- Diana (9/5): Superb -
- Indraneel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - The breakfast was a delicious and large typical Moroccan breakfast served in the common area, because it was served it took more time than a buffet. The room was enormous with enough hot water for two people to shower. Excellent location. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. The windows are old, so they were drafty and let in a lot of noise but the street was pretty quiet at night. The common area was also a bit cold during breakfast. Bottles of water would have been nice to have in the room.
- Abbas (10/5): Exceptional - Ideal location to access Medina. No elevator
- Jing (9/5): Beautiful riad, very clean, great location - Close to the blue gate in excellent location. Very clean. Decoration is amazing. Shower head cracked, water is small. No lift to the upper floors.
- Wendy (10/5): Amazing trip enhanced by our stay in this beautiful place - Amazing place- so beautiful! Well located close to Blue Gate of the medina. We were made to feel very welcome and safe. The hosts are kind and helpful and helped us arrange things. Massage and traditional hamam is definitely worth a go ! We would love to stay here again! Nothing
- Tinamarie (10/5): Modern luxuries with old town charm of Riad with exceptional service and comfort - Modern luxury with old town charm. Hosts are amazing. Great breakfast. Felt very safe, we had an amazing time. Immaculate and comfortable. Can’t wait to return I didn’t like that I had to leave and return to reality
- Anna (9/5): Safe, supportive and kind - How accommodating the staff were
- Livia (10/5): Exceptional - One of the most beautiful riad I have been ever.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - very friendly host heled us with lot of recommendation.
Nearby parking place and access to medina.
on site home hammam with massage.
very unique look and feel.
we were very satisfied, the kids liked the place also.
we can only recommend. winter months can be cold, but you can heat by the A/C
ask Anass, the host for the correct loacation and do not follow Google Maps
- Yuan (10/5): Exceptional - Best Raid Experience in Morocco
- Alice (8/5): Elegant riad in a great location - Location is great, walking distance to the medina and restaurants. The palace is nicely decorated, the rooms are as beautiful as in the pictures and the atmosphere is very peaceful Communication needs improvement: I asked detailed information before scheduling an hammam+massage during my stay, I was told the activity lasted 2 hours for 5 people, only during the activity I found out they only have one massage bed, so the treatment was going to take over 4 hours for 5 people.
- Paolo (10/5): an experience to repeat. - What to say, a perfect stay. The Riad is just outside the Medina and close to a cheap parking where the host came to welcome me. The venue has been recently restructured and is in excellent conditions. my room was super, with a terrace. I was sick and Anass (the owner and manager) went to buy medicine for me, and his staff were also helpful. Breakfast excellent (though I could taste on a bit since i was not well). P.S. I had already been there 5 years ago and would go again
- Diane (9/5): Not in, but close to El Bali - This is a beautiful Riad with a wonderful staff. Having a hammam in the building was a treat, too. The bed was comfortable, big shower, nice toilet paper, quiet other than the rooster that we will miss. We thought the breakfast lacked imagination as it was the same every day. At other places in Morocco we had variety during our stays of 3 and 4 days.
- Leslie (9/5): Superb -
- rozier379 (6/5): Unwelcoming, but pretty. - Pros: Looks like a palace
Perfect location
Spotlessly clean
Cons: Not run like a guesthouse, more like staying in the home of someone you don't know. A weird atmosphere like staying with a family who have had a massive row before you showed up and are just waiting for you to leave.
The soap was worn and used by a previous occupant. I feel this had the makings of an amazing boutique hotel, run by someone who has never stayed in one.
Breakfast was just some stale bread, awful coffee and good orange juice. No protein in sight!
- Tatjana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leyre (10/5): Exceptional - The Riad is wonderful but what really makes a difference is the owners. They make everything easy and you feel tremendously welcomed
- Sharfraz (10/5): A BRILLIANT Riad, GREAT location but AMAZING hosts. - The Riad was in a great location, the decor of each rooms was different, which gives an individual touch, unlike a hotel. The fact that a Riad has a limited number of rooms it allows the host to be very attentive to each guest and made our stay all the more special. I will definitely be going again, as I feel like there's more to see in Fes and I will certainly be staying here again, as the hosts are beyond accommodating and if I may say so, feel part of the family. The Riad is run by a family and very knowledgeable about any trips in Morocco. Nothing wrong to say, the stay was great
- Ngoc (9/5): Superb - The host is nice, the riad is superb, close to everything
- Jane (10/5): Absolutely perfect. - The most beautiful riad i have had the pleasure of staying in. The location is perfect and the proprietor Anass is above and beyond. A definite return. Nothing.
