- Gail (2/5): - Check-in was a nightmare. Stood at desk for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to come to desk. Sign on counter said dial 0 on phone on counter, did twice, nothing. Door to back office area was open, young man finally came out dancing with ear buds in. When looking up my reservation he asked how much Expedia charged me, then said ok that’s what I’ll charge. Told him I’ve already paid & he wanted to see proof. Once I showed him (I should have never been asked) he just gave me a key, never had me fill out or sign anything. My reservation was for 2 queen room, which I confirmed with him. Got to room and it had one bed. Was put in another room. This young man had no clue what he was doing or didn’t care. The room and beds were surprisingly clean. Breakfast was a 1/2 loaf of bread & a partial stick of butter, container of cereal but no milk & an empty coffee pot but no cups even if it wasn’t. Not sure who owns/manages this place but they definitely need to do better.

- Aspen (2/5): - There were bedbugs on our pillow in our first room went to the front desk and asked for another room there were dead roaches everywhere in the second room went back up to the front desk and asked for a refund the personnel at the desk proceeded to say the bug we showed him wasn’t a bedbug (I know what a bed bug looks like) sucks we’re heading back to Iowa from Yellowstone drove 11 1/2 hours and now we’re just driving the rest of the way home

- Susan (2/5): - Pulled in to a dark parking lot. No cars. No lighs. No motel. It’s closed. I booked and paid for one night. There was construction materials in lobby looked thru front door. Please please take off your website. The worst hotel stay or should I say NONSTAY EVER. had to drive over 30 miles to find a room for the night. Which wasn’t great. I’ll list one thing only. Too much wrong to write. There were NO DOOR KNOBS ON ANY ROOM They took them off. Lovely night just lovely
- Kathy (2/5): - The hallway was very dirty. We walk into the room and there was a dirty washcloth on the bathroom counter. We pulled the sheets back on the bed, and there was a longer black hair on the sheet that you lay on. The continental breakfast consisted of a loaf of bread with a jar of peanut butter With a knife stuck in the jar. Also two containers with cereal. very unappealing.
- Karen (4/5): - As soon as we opened the door a dog came running up to us. Thankfully, we like dogs so it's wasn't a big deal but not everyone does. Then the lady at the front desk starts showing us her feet because it was hot and they were swollen. It was hot but still weird. Then she tells us to hold on a minute. We were standing there waiting for a good 10 minutes thinking she still needed something. She starts petting her dog and I ask her if we're good and she just says, "Oh, yeah". The breakfast area was some cabinets just placed in the hallway. There was only cereal, toast, and coffee. We get down to our room and the gentleman comes out because he had just turned on the air-conditioning. It had been 104°F. It was the ground floor and there were only shear curtains on the window. There was only one working light. One of the pillows didn't have a pillow case. When my husband went to ask for a pillow case they said they would bring it to the room. They did bring it to the room but then the guy tried looking passed my husband to see into the room. There was what looked like major mold on the wall behind the toilet as well. Unfortunately, that was the only hotel that we knew of in that town and we just needed a place to sleep for the night. Not great but we have had to sleep in worse places. The staff seemed friendly enough. Just not very professional.
- Ixchel (2/5): - The clerk walked out to us with no bra on, barefoot, not friendly, called because i forgot some items in the room, very rude, yelling unfriendly. When we went to the room, you push the fur and it opened rugby up. Bathroom dirty, shower slimey, horrible experience

- S.S. (2/5): - This property was dirty from the front door to the room and within. Floors hadn’t been vacuumed in quite awhile. There were hairs and buggers in the bathroom. The air conditioner sounded like a jet plane and didn’t actually cool the room off until 3:00 in the morning. The room was sweltering hot. Would never recommend this place.
- Carolyn (4/5): - The place stinks, from the hall into the room. There was hair in the bathtub. The towels and bedding are worn out. The chairs have stains on them. I would not have stayed here but for the fact the ac in my camper did not work in the 105 degree heat. I did not sleep well and was out the door before 6 AM.
- Tabitha (4/5): - The bed was warm and there was plumbing and tv. Other than that the stay was mediocre. The small breakfast bar was not stocked in the morning with nothing but probably the previous morning's leftover half loaf of bread, cereal, 2 granola bars, and a quart of milk.

- Susan (6/5): - First off, the name of the hotel is Regency not Smart Choice. You can't tell me they changed that overnight and didn't inform us of the change. The room in the pictures looks much better than the actual room. The air conditioner looks like its hanging on by a thread. The woman checking us in seemed to have a problem but it turns out she was just distracted from her barking dog. The breakfast was horrible! Two choices of cereal or white bread. Ok there was jam or peanut butter but no butter. Coffee was probably left over from the day before and just reheated. I don't think if it was fresh it would have been any better. No, I would not stay there again.

- Charles (2/5): - I have stayed in third world country hotels during my career. This place ranks right down there with the worst of them. There was no one there to check me in. I hung around for 30 minutes. Dirty and worn.

- Ansel (2/5): Never again!!!!!! - I had reserved the room in advance as it said there was only one left, but upon arriving, it didn't appear that was the case. The Host were ok, helpful and talkative, but the room was something to be desired. The TV didn't work, I asked for the wifi access and didn't get a response on that. There were some type of bugs crawling all over, we slept with towels over our pillows. The TV didn't go off, it for some reason had no picture, but was still on. I slept with an eye mask to shield the lightness. Thankfully we only had to spend a minimal amount of time there as we headed out very early in the morning to continue on to Custer, SD. It was deceiving because the room stated it was $59(or$54?), but it actually ended up costing us $72 because I added some insurance plan that was confusing when I did the online reservation. I thought it was to reserved the room due to it only showing 1 available, but after arriving and seeing that not to be the case, it seemed to me a gimmick on getting more money out of a person traveling looking for a place to stay. Either way, it definitely wasn't a good experience and we will probably never stay there again or refer it to anyone else traveling out that way. I guess you get what you get in Plankinton, SD
- Kit (8/5): - Management was good. Garbage was full but not there fault. Trash collector could not come till Monday morning. Room was ok just needed a little more attention. Mirrors refrigerator and such. Overall a good stay.

- JUSTIN (2/5): Dirty, Dirty, Dirty ! - Absolutely terrible. This place needs reported right away. Roaches infested the breakfast area and rooms. Air conditioning was not cooling at all, resulting in a very hot and sticky room. Did not even want to sleep there due to all of the bugs, but was already charged the room price. No screens on the window. No smoke detector- just exposed wires hanging from the ceiling which is probably against code. The toilet looked unclean in the bowl and still had hairs on the outside. Price was just as much as a properly maintained hotel. I would not suggest staying here, and definitely do not eat the infested food. Opened the fridge in the room and bugs went scattering everywhere. Hallways were trashed and unclean and the side door to the outside had no lock or key entry so anyone could walk right in. The parking lot was dark with no lights except for nearby truck-stop. This place is dangerous to both health and safety. Could not get out of there quick enough!

- Jennifer (2/5): Run down - Nobody was at the desk at 8 pm when we arrived. We pushed the call button and 15 minutes later a couple drove up in pajamas to check us in. The entire place was dirty and run down. Our pillows were disgusting, but thankfully we had our own since we had been camping. The room was dirty and the shower barely drained. I wish I had stopped at Chaimberlin instead. Don't stay here.

- Leanna (2/5): Keep driving... - I had incorrectly, somehow, got my reservation for a neighboring city. When I called they gave me a number to call for the owners son. He was kind enough to change the reservation to the correct city. When my Mom and I drove up to the property we could not believe what we saw. There was trash in the parking lot (kind of spread around), something looking like a mattress leaning against the building. The siding appeared to be coming off and the whole exterior was dirty. I had to pay for the night due to the last time to cancel. Oh, and the property did not have the Rodeway Inn name anymore. Assume they lost it. It was now Mitchell Motel. Scary looking place to two ladies.
- Dawn (8/5): - The sink had soap marks, indicating it had not been cleaned. The staff were kind and friendly but I was exhausted and the gentleman didn’t seem to have the ability to read the room.

- Verified traveler (4/5): I won't be back. - The staff were friendly, but there were bugs, and that freaked my daughter out. The TV worked, but the volume was either on high or muted. I could control the volume somewhat by covering the bottom and back of the TV with excess pillows and towels.

- Daniela (2/5): Very old hotel - This hotel is very old and desperately needs maintenance. When I arrived, I was greeted by a dog that wouldn't stop barking. The room behind the reception desk was a complete mess, with bottles and cans scattered all over the floor. To top it all off, the breakfast was the worst I've ever had

- Rogers (4/5): - My worst experience in booking, I had to stand up at the front deck for 2 freaking hours. I got to the hotel at 10pm and give the my booking information in which they disagree with the price I pay online and insisted I should pay what's in their computer. I rebook the hotel online and canceled the first booking, the manager had to keep me standing up front to call Expedia to asked why the property was on promotion for the price I pay, and how Expedia should take down the promotion from on the property. And insisted that Expedia should pay the property before given my room key, at the is point I had stood up there for two hours by the time I got my room key it was 12:am I booked for 2 night, i got my room key at 12am spent few hours by 5:30am I left and never returned to the property for my second night. It seem I wasn't the only person that had the issue, the guy before me booked online and when he got to the property front desk, the starts to charge you a hold different price, and saying what on Expedia isn't correct. You should cancel on Expedia and pay what they asking at the property.

- Christopher (4/5): Breakfast is apparently a term up for debate - The whole entire place is in a state of poor upkeep. The door to the lobby sticks, the room had a desk chair that was unable to fit the desk. This left a giant chair in the tiny room limiting space to mere inches. The television remote was nowhere to be found and had to contact maintenance to have one dropped off. The air condition had been replaced with a smaller model that was poorly scabbed together with pieces of scrap wood. Holes in most of the walls and in the bathroom door. Toilet seat was worn away from missing a rubber pad for likely a decade. Reserved a smoking too. And did not receive one. “Breakfast” was served with day old coffee and consisted of 2 cereals, pop tarts and a loaf of ancient bread. The fridge worked well and beds were alright.

- Kirk (2/5): - The room was not painted. The bed location had been moved and the wall was not fixed. The bed was suppose to be a queen, it was a full. The furniture was limited and the seat upholstery was cracked. The carpets were dirty. We arrived in the evening and the cereal dispenser had not been cleaned up and old cereal was on the counter. The floor of the lobby/eating area had filthy with food scattered around such as chips, and cereal. I do not know what Expedia does in regard to inspecting their properties. This place needs to be inspected without any notification. Staff remained in the back room until you called them. They were not rude and actually helped us with the locked door. However, they seemed disinterested. I am not sure if we just visited them on an off day, but it was probably the worse hotel we have ever used. 2/10

I didn’t even end up staying the night because it was so dirty and there was a random guy lurking in the parking lot outside the window of the room I was assigned. I booked a non-smoking room and it reeked of cigarettes and urine. There was a large amount of flies in my room and when I brought it to the attention of management, they said “all of the room have a lot of flies.” There were makeup stains on the bathroom towels and overall it was just a filthy place in general. The inn initially agreed to refund my money since I didn't feel comfortable staying in a dirty room with a random guy sitting in his car outside my window, but a few days later I was informed that they’d changed their minds. This is an extremely disgusting and shady place to stay, and I really am curious why they feel like having flies in all of the rooms is not an issue.

- Jon (2/5): Blood streak on door! - It’s in the middle of nowhere which is not a problem. My wife and I checked in late at night, and the lobby did not look clean. We go up to the desk and I initiated to the clerk who we were. She kept mumbling that she was tired. She was wearing a tank top, just very unprofessional. 🙁 a man came to help her behind the desk and he had no shirt on at all. The whole time we stood there at the desk, we were initiating giving the information they would need to check us in. The lady and man hardly looked us in the eye. They handed us our key and said nothing. So we stood waiting to see if they needed any more information about us, but finally the woman looked at us and curtly told us that we were free to go to our room. I have never before been treated with such disrespect at a hotel. We get in our room, and the bathroom door had a blood streak on it and was locked. I got the man to open it for me, and the interior looked fine, but we did not trust that the room was clean. We slept on top of the comforter, and had no bites from bedbugs that night. We were quick to leave as soon as we could the next morning.
- Joseph (8/5): - For a quick in and out, this older motel was fine. The bed was comfy, the air worked, they provided coffee and continental breakfast. The desk clerks were courteous and offered extra towels.

- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room smelled of cigarette smoke even though it was a nonsmoking room. Had several flies buzzing around and couldn’t get to sleep.
- Sarah (2/5): Absolutely disgusting. - This motel is disgusting. The manager lives in the apartment attached to the lobby. When she opened the door to check us in, she had garbage all over her apartment, all over the floor, stacked on the furniture. When we got checked in, our door would not latch shut. It was the only door on the floor that did not have a key card, but had a regular door key. you could tell that the door lock has been switched several times, but it still didn’t work. We pushed our chair in front of the door while we slept. The breakfast area had cereal and milk spilled all over the counter and was not cleaned from when we checked in to when we checked out the following morning. The desk chair in my dad’s room was broken and he ended up tipping backwards without being aware of what was happening.

- Juanita (2/5): Dont stay here - We checked in at about 8:30pm. Got a phone call at 11:30 and told to come down to the frond desk. To be told they gave us the wrong room. We had to leave because they had given our room away
- Shantoya (2/5): - They had me booked in a different town. When we got our reservation fixed, The motel wasn't the best but I figured you get what you pay for. The staff was not courteous and seemed creepy. Our room had hair all over the bathroom. My daughter seen some cockroaches in the hallway. The TV service didn't work for nothing. Good luck with guest services, they disappeared. I was totally disappointed. Will never stay there.
- Ronald (6/5): Get them one more helper! - Place needs some attention and we got the feeling they were understaffed and overworked. Breakfast area messy, no coffee, hardly anything left and we were fairly early. Hallways hot and thus room did not cool off until after midnight and air was off when we arrived. I get saving power but?? Young man was helpful twice-sink was dirty and he got young lady to clean it and then came back to help with challenging TV.
