Guest Reviews
- Bryan (6/5): - If you are going to skiing or boarding and want to be at the base of Snow Summit than Escape is great. Especially on a holiday weekend like MLK when it is packed. Some of the units are better than others but most are old inside and out. You are basically paying to park at the hill and walk to the slopes. Great for a dad and teenage boys trip for 1-2 nights. Not some much if you looking for a house with amenities. Would I stay again. Yes, for a boys trip because dealing with parking and shuttles on a holiday weekend is worse.
- Anthon (10/5): - Large and comfortable. Great location!
- Nancy (10/5): Loved this property - Super cute cabin, close to the slopes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The service at the front desk was wonderful. They were able to accommodate everything that I needed and even offered to let me check early since the room would be ready. I mistakenly booked for the wrong weekend and lucky for me, the room was available, so they changed my reservation and provided wonderful service. The unit was just as described/pictured and incredibly clean. I’ll be returning for sure! I can’t recommend it enough.
- Brande (8/5): Family ski trip - Condo was old, mattresses were heavily worn and saggy. Location was great. However, they also double charged me for the room, trying to dispute that extra charge now.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The condo was great and had everything we needed to cook meals and relax. The only inconvenience was the traffic because of how close the skiing mounting is, the traffic was horrible.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved the location, it is located next to snow summit.
- Aldo Jahir (10/5): Great location - Very Beautiful and clean, amazing location!
- Tom (8/5): Long weekend ski trip - Great long weekend ski trip with friends. Even though it’s a two bedroom condo, we all had
Our own bed. Right at the base of the ski resort. Since we were so close to the slopes, we added night skiing to our plans. Best decision wver
- Robyn (6/5): - It was a good size for families. It was not well kept on the patio outside in particular but very outdated inside too.
- Livinitup (4/5): - This is in a great location not far from lake activities while also right at the base of snow summit. Unfortunately, the first thing I noticed was the disgusting uncleanliness, if you wipe a wet paper towel on the floor it came up black. There were also cobwebs looking like they were from some old spooky movie showing how long it hasn’t had any attention. Do not book this place during the summertime as the upstairs was torturously hot! Thankfully if you keep all the windows and front door open ( not safe) then the downstairs cools off at night but it doesn’t last. I think this would be much better during winter as the cabins is warm and cozy with a nice fireplace.
I’m familiar with townhouses but this place you can hear everything through the walls as it kept me up the first two nights as we had unruly partying neighbors. At least invite me for a drink, lol.
At first glance I was interested in buying a spot up there and they told me the management company charges a 5 commission fee but after seeing how unkept the property is I’m no longer interested. I would recommend a refund to the owner of the property.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the proximity to the slopes. Very nice staff at check in.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It's close the lifts of Snow Summit.
Property is old with problem on plumbing, doors, and heating. Shower plumbing leaked downstairs to the kitchen
- Victoria (8/5): Excelent location very noicy - The noice of The Snow machine was very noicy in the Night
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location. Not clean though. - Great location. Should work on cleanliness. Several places were in need of cleaning, specially one of the bunk bed had bed smelling mattress.
- Karla (10/5): Very comfortable - The cabin was spacious and well equipped. We are planning to go again. Great location, close to markets, Marina and restaurants.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved our stay here! Staff was very welcoming and helpful, gave us lots of ideas of what to do while we were in Big Bear. We paid and extra $25 and was able to stay till 4pm upon checkout. Everything was very clean neat. We will defiantly be returning!
- G A (10/5): We’ll stay there again - Office staff super nice, friendly and helpful. It was great to have the full townhouse to use, it has all the basics you need including utensils to cook (we didn’t at this time). Teen were very comfortable, it was cool to have a king that doesn’t sink and was comfortable, only thing is it makes a little noise when you move but not a big issue. Good location too.
- TD (8/5): - The overall condo complex is wonderful and very well kept-up. Each individual unit, however, is kept up according what the unit’s owner decides to do. Our unit was basically ok, clean and comfortable, etc. My only complaint is that the bedding was very poor. The sheets in the master bedroom did not fit the king size mattress, so we wound up having to sleep on a partially exposed bare mattress. Also the blankets did not fit the king size bed, and the pillows were disgustingly old and lumpy. Otherwise, everything was fine. I would stay at this complex again, but I will abound this particular unit because of the poor bedding.
- Joan (4/5): - Horrible beds and bedding.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic location at base of Snow Summit. Clean and spacious living area.
- Veronica (10/5): cozy and great location - the condo smelled like gas when we walked in. the fireplace would not completely light. it is a gas fireplace. the first night it was so cold from having to leave the door open we all were forced to go upstairs and stay there until morning. very disappointing. we did tel the office staff and they stated they will let the owners know.
- Autumn (10/5): Wonderful Winter Escape - It was great! Clean, cozy townhome right next to SnowSummit! Loved the memories we made there!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - If restooms towels get stained from makeup, i have to pay. There is a limit on room temperature that cannot exceed. Cabinets cannot be opened. Room blankets dirty. A list to follow of rules need to followed or else i will be charged. Furniture cannot be moved. I throw out my own trash, and so on...
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The place was unbelievable bad. TVs are not working, shower was not working. The sofa was not comfortable. The bed was not confortable.
In the kitchen a microwave was not working. The whole place needs upgrade and renovation. It was one of the worst place I have ever seen in Big Bear.
- Ginna (4/5): - The property really needs updating. The beds and furniture are old. Check out time is early at 10 am so seemed like a lot of money for 12 hours. Pay a $75 cleaning fee and instructions say for the renter to clean up and take trash out to dumpsters. Beds seemed clean enough, but very uncomfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Thank you for great weekend - We stayed in Unit 120 for this past Labor Day weekend and we loved it. Unit was beautiful, everything worked, and it doesn't get any closer to the snow summit. One master bedroom, one queen bedroom, and another alcove with two twin beds, as well as a day bed tucked into the corner of the living room. No problems. In fact, I made a mistake upon booking, and the ladies in the office made it a non issue, and we really enjoyed our stay. We definitely plan to book this unit again.
- lovelyfox (10/5): A stay for two - Once we got up to big bear we went stright looking for our hotel. The area where the hotel is locationed was very beautiful so close to nature. Once we were checking in they gave us and upgrade free of charge because our other room had some plumbing issues but we were totally ok with it. So we go check out our cabin/room but it was beautiful. Two storys a beautiful kitchen with full appliances that can be use. Large dinner table. Living area was great. Only down side to the living room area was cabel tv does not work so we had to go find a redbox and rent movies for our weekend stay. Downstairs were our 3 bedrooms. One with bulkbeds the other room with a full bed and the master room with a king room. All rooms were clean and comfortable. If you ever needed more blackets or pillows they had some in a cabinet in the hallway.
At this hotel you have to clean after yourself there no house keeping you must throw away all trash once you check out. If you used any if the kitchen utensils you must wash and make sure they are put away. Bring movies for your stay since cable does not work. And just make sure you follow all rules of the hotel or it come out of your deposit. But overall our stay was great and i would love to come back.
- Edward (10/5): Restful Stay - This cabin was enjoyed by our family. We would stay there again. We didn't want to leave.
- STACY (8/5): Nice and cozy - Nice and cozy place. My family enjoyed stay there. Only thing was the roof of the downstairs leaked when my husband took a shower and the refrigerator door had a trick to it which we didn’t learn until we returned from our day trip and all our groceries went bad.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property was in the perfect location for the Spartan Race - couldn't have been better - everything is really nice - decor is from 1988 - everything else is GREAT!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and comfortable - Everything was great, and my only complaint was the unit I was in needed some updating because the carpet and a few other things were really old and worn out.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Location was great, apartment was ok. - Beds weren't that great, and although I didn't think it was possible in 2018, neither bed had fitted bottom sheets. Everything was a little old and worn, but the location near the ski resort was amazing. Internet router was malfunctioning and had to be reset everytime I turned on my computer.
- Marine (8/5): - I enjoyed my stay because all was good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel Nice - Close to many small shops Very nice had a fireplace and loft
- Greg (10/5): Great place - Great service nice and clean cabin
- Verified traveler (6/5): Close to lift - Cabin was good. & cozy Beds were not too comfortable. But ok overall.
- Silvia (10/5): Great New Years Eve stay - Over all an amazing place to have spent New Year’s Eve.The front office was amazingly friendly one of the best services I’ve had renting the place felt like home. The only thing are the beds are a bit uncomfortable but other than that everything was great definitely going to recommend to friends and family
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good Local to the Ski Resort - This place was good for the closeness of the ski resort, but could definitely use some work.
- craig (8/5): - Stay overall was great more importantly the price. I paid the same for a whole house as I would have for just a hotel room.
- Lisa Ann (10/5): Great location, staff and facilities. - Escape for all Seasons is conveniently located at the base of Snow Summit ski resort, and is about midway between the Village and the "shopping center" which has the two local markets and other stores. In addition, all of the rentals we have accessed have always being clean and well stocked, and Escape has very friendly and helpful staff.
- MARLENE F (10/5): Clean and cozy cabin - I loved the lodge! It was so cozy and clean!
Also was very equipped with toaster, coffe maker, clean sheets, everything we needed. Also it was just steps from the mountain (snow summit)
Will stay again!
- Elizabeth (10/5): Had a great weekend - We just plan a quick trip to have for the weekend and this place was perfect. The kids enjoyed the stay . The kitchen came with appliances and there was coffee. The rooms where big and came with alot of room and extra blankets. There was a grill in the patio and we did a small barbecue.
- tim (10/5): - This room was great and I would recommend it to anyone. Great room for ski season.
- Y (8/5): comfortable place but could use some renovation - You really need to know what you are looking for here. For the space, beds and location, the price is more than reasonable. It has a lot of beds and a nice balcony with outdoor furniture. We had a very comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and gave us more than what we need when we asked for extension on checkout time.
However, the hotel is dated. So if cleanliness bothers you a lot, you should really be careful here. The blankets in the main bedroom smelled awful like someone sweated all over it - I'm sure it's been washed but i think it came from just years of usage. We ended up using the blankets on other beds. The whole place smelled initially but after we aired it for half an hour it went away. If you have groups of people trying to sleep early, watch out because every movement in the living room and kitchen (upstairs) can be heard downstairs (bedrooms).
All that being said, i think i will go back again. As parents with young kids, this place offered better value than anywhere else. In a regular hotel room without plenty space we'd be literally trapped in the room with nothing to do after the kids go to sleep but here, i just went upstairs and completely relaxed in my own space after their bedtime.
- Syal (10/5): The hotel was clean beyond our expectations. - It was a 2 bedroom condo/hotel room which we had booked for weekend stay for the entire family. The entire house was clean beyond our expectations. It was neat, clean and parking was just in front of the house. Altogether, it was a relaxing, comfort stay for the entire family with lot of other stuff for entertainment in the house itself. Defiantly we would prefer to book the same hotel rooms.
- John (10/5): Townhouse at Big Bear - The townhouse was really awesome.
- Edward (10/5): Great Family Weekend Experience - The staff was very welcoming and accommodating to our arrival. The home was in excellent condition and the beds comfy. Our 3 kids loved the experience they didn't want to leave. It was a pleasant surprise to find a fully equipped kitchen which saved on eating out.
- Daniel (6/5): Great location but unit need some updating - I loved the location especially because it had ski access but I was disappointed because the townhouse only had ONE television in the living room. I wish the two bedrooms would have had televisions too. The kitchen equipment was old, one of the dining room chairs was broken. The place could use some updating. Really the only thing I liked was the location.
- chris (6/5): - Very dated creaky floor condo. You're paying for the location to the slopes. Needed to walk around so was not as close as map led us to beleive.
