- Goudy (8/5): Lane goudys - Staff The old tarnished look and price no oven in my room i also found a broken meth pipe in room
- Stacey (2/5): - The room was spacious and had a personal fridge and stove don't know if they worked or not..the bad side was there were roaches there and I mean a lot of roaches...place looked hella dirty I couldn't stay ended up leaving in the middle of the night.. Mostly everything
- Karla (1/5): My day was the worst day I’ve ever had inside of a hotel before no AC - I was charged twice once for booking.com and then again once I got there, they said that they have no account with booking.com and that they had to charge me another $78 to pay for the room. The room also had no air conditioning. It was very, very hot. The owner or the manager that worked that night was very rude. My wife went down to speak with him and he slammed the door in her face. I was hoping to get a refund if I was charged thank you. I didn’t like anything

- Martinez (1/5): I will never come here. Don’t waste your money here it’s not worth the time and it was not treated with respect. Just un - Nothing about it all. Not friendly looked very sketchy. Didn’t look clean and VERY VERY BAD POORLY CUSTOMER SERVICES IN GENERAL. Nothing but uncomfortable attitude response. The staff weren’t being friendly. Started giving me crap for a question and not a single attitude or unfriendly responses. They look and sounded like they didn’t want me to book with them. Saying they’re full but I booked online saying it was opened.
- William (6/5): - Uneventful
- Timothy (2/5): - One hour after laying down I had to leave because my bed had an extreme bed bug infestation.
- Stuart (4/5): - AC worked well.
room had no trash can, fans busted, floors dirty, no night table, bathroom disgusting. Worst motel I ever stayed in! never again
- Barbara (2/5): - Worst property I ever saw
Did not stay
- Robert (2/5): - The first there was noone in the fron office she was in the back and dint come out after 20 min of ringing a bell im sure doesnt work. Had to call another property to get in contact. The first room had burn holes in the cover and broken furniture. So i change to a room that wasnt much better. Then in the morning coukdnt check out because once again the manager was unreachable. This is place is not worth the timr or money.
- Rudolph (10/5): - Breathe taking properly and scenery
- Robert (2/5): - There was no hot water had to. Walk3 flight of stairs 2 tomes first time gave. Wrong key 3nd time now towels 3rd time no hot water. Got very cold that night and there was no heat.
- Kiki (1/5): Left to stay somewhere else - NA Bed bugs
- Linda (2/5): - I will always spend more money. Disgusting.
- G&g (1/5): Bad - Nothing Got pulled over by the cops asking me what I was doing at that motel if I have drugs in the car. They were baby roaches. the ceiling fan didn't have the light cover the front door has a crack in it you can see through it and it didn't shut right and the windows you can see through them you had to put something on it. the remote control didn't have batteries. the bed had the spring popping out. the restroom sink was broken. and the pictures from online were nothing like it said it was.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Run away! - Flying dust monsters, missing electrical outlet, COCKROACHES EVERYWHERE!!!! Disgusting
- Brenda (1/5): We did not stay at this hotel as the rooms stunk and cockroaches were running rampant on the floor. The front desk perso - We booked for convenience. We showed up for our reservation only to be told we couldn’t be housed there but had to go to their other property 3 blocks away.
- Kevin (2/5): - Dirty lots of bugs noisy all night
- Marj (1/5): scary, bugs, dirty, this place should be condemned. It was worse then a storage room. - nothing The check in lady said there was only 1 room left so I took it. The room looked condemned. The two filthy/bloody/brown stained/bug filled mattresses were hidden by tucked in clean sheets. Bugs were everywhere = floor, walls, beds, kitchen cupboards. The place was filthy and looked like a storage area. The entrance door couldn't protect against anything, it was a weak wooden bedroom door with a small bolt on it. I did not see a heater or air conditioner in it. Super scary people stay here. My 17 year old daughter would not stay in it and said she'd sleep in the car instead. So I had to go and pay another hotel to stay at, and was not given a refund here. If anyone knows the number to the Mesa AZ building inspection agency = please call them and get this place shut down.
- James (5/5): Passable -
- Doss (6/5): Pleasant - The fact that they had a kitchenette included within the room. And also that there was no deposit. The fact that they have roaches.
- Atul (1/5): I have been travelling for long time and staying in Motels/Hotels. THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. - Nothing. I went with my employees. They charged me $225, said I have to pay now. I said I paid on line. The manager (lady) said no, you have to pay now. So I did. Then she says, we do not have any rooms here, you go to our sister motel "Miles Motel". First they said we have big apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. I said no w need 2 separate rooms. The lady gave me 2 rooms but they were single bed. I had told them one room was for 2 people. The lady exchanged the room. The rooms were the most uncomfortable with very low light, very this pillow's, drapes in the window were so this everybody could see you inside. The second room was full of bugs crawling. I gave the keys back for both the rooms (Room 208, 205) and spent 1 hour looking for other place, which we found at 50% more price, but was a beautiful property by Best Western. I think they charged $110 for the most rooms, which does not make sense. I think we should get our money back since we did not stay in the motel. Thanks.
- Antonio (2/5): Worst place ever !!!! - After paying for my room at the hotel I thought I was staying at, I was then sent to a second “property” to get my key. From another lady . After fully checking my id from the fax they just received two mins before and also verifying my phone number. I was then told to make sure to bring the key back the following day . Then next I was told my room was at an apartment complex about a mile further. This being the third “property” I had to go to was just ridiculous . I showed up and the apartment complex was horrible . Squatters every where , hardly any outside lighting, and the second office never even told me which building my room was in so I had to walk thru an entire complex to locate my room . Once I finally found it the screen was removed from the main window and also the stopper on the inside that keeps the window from opening all the way . Going into the room I found two bathrooms with our shower curtains or toilet paper . It smelled horrible . Pet hair every where . Microwave front door covered with electric tape to hold it together . Looked like some one just left 5 mins before I got there . Worst experience I’ve ever had with any hotel . I would give this place zero stars if it was an option . It to mention they have at least 20 no refunds signs in each of the “properties” I was in . I returned the key immediately and let them know I would reach out to hotels.com for a refund ! DO NOT STAY at any of these properties! EVER !!!
- Carla (10/5): - Outstanding Service Property Manager handled the stay well.
- Molly (2/5): Disgusting - It was horrible. Very strong cigarette smell had to keep the windows open to air room but didnt help much. There was poop and pee stains in one of the beds and roaches everywhere.
Cops were there at least 3 or 4 times. There was 2 fights and some woman came up to my husband and said only $20 for some "playtime".
Ive never had a worse experience in my life.
- Verified traveler (2/5): This place deserves zero stars - The check in lady was very kind; however…
Everything about the room was dirty, sticky and smelly. Including sticky note tabs and half eaten lollipops throughout the room. There was blood stains in the sheets. There was people staring at us through the see through curtains and other individuals (not workers) knocking on our window and door at 1-3am. The wifi didn’t work, it was needed for business purposes. The keys to enter the room didn’t work. There was cats everywhere, including the smell of pee. The appliances sounded like they were going to explode. The listed amenities were unavailable, even though they were included in the fee. Once trying to turn on the A/C a cloud of dust puffed out and was very gross. We couldn’t shower due to the tub being dirty and no towels provided. As well as no trash cans to properly dispose of trash. The tv remote didn’t work, when going to push the buttons it was sticky. This was the perfect set up for a horror movie.
- Brenda (2/5): - Room full of roaches, bed full of bed bugs, broken furniture, lots of cigarette smoke odor and lots of burns marks thru out the whole room..
- Rietbrock (1/5): Don't stay here. - Nothing Roaches under the bed, in the tub, everywhere, very dirty
- Ciara (4/5): Disappointing - The layout I guess Roaches, smelt like 60 years of cigarettes, refrigerator broken,
- Scott (1/5): Bad - The smell and cleanliness was horrible.
- Jeremy M (2/5): The hotel is not up to par. Don't waste your money - The water heater was on the room. The shower had no hot water. The room smelled like Mildew . It seemed like there was water damage previous and they did the bare minimum to fix and repair the room. The furniture piece we're warped at the bottom and splitting. There were bugs crawling around the room. House services did not clean the room well and there was trash all over the room and no trash can what so ever in the room. The bed was unbearably uncomfortable. Description of the room didn't match the website either. THE ROOM WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE A QUEEN SIZE BED. IT WAS A FULL. MY WIFE AND I BARELY FIT ON THE BED. There were drug addicts walking around the complex. Cops were out and about in the hotel. Over experience was terrible. Never again.
- Adeleke (10/5): - The staff are excellent and wonderful. The corridors to the apartments are dirty.
- Sheila (1/5): Bad - Nothing I've got pitchers to send you how nasty it was, First off bathroom toilet would not flush and there was no toilet paper, Sink and bathtub and door nasty , No Towels or wash cloths or bath mat, Door knob have installed can see right through top of it hardly could get it to shut or open loose, Bed was so stained and bedding stank so bad, I had to remove it and put them in scented garbage bags so I couldn't smell them and used me own till next day curtains don't cover windows you can see though sides and middle there's at least 2 inches from bottom see though and sun shines under and door knob, So much dust and looks like mold not sure The fan in kitchen has so much dust on it plus don't even know if it works the vents and exhaust fan Are disgusting and corners and ceiling are filthy send ing you pitchers first night I didn't even have a TV. There was no trashcan no remote tv didn't work any way. I had to buy cleaning supplies to clean it so I could handle the smell I scrubbed there tub&sinks and the bed well after seeing the end of the bed then the top I couldn't lay down init again. It dam sure was not worth even 5 Dollars let alone over 200 Being upstairs all around just plain disgusting everything. No TV toilet not flushing, No toilet paper no towels or washcloths, No trash can, nasty bed bedding whole room. I would like a refund. Or at least a free night somewhere else. I never want to go there again.
- Getaway32702328502 (10/5): Was welcomed felt like I didn't have to look over my shoulders - The owners are very laid back. Very kind the rooms have space and some privacy witch is great. The kids can run and be kids. Get them in before dark and all can be great. These wonderful folk don't make u feel like u have to walk on egg shells. And animals are welcome
- Lois (2/5): - The first room we tried smelled like cigarette smoke. 2nd room we tried appeared to have mold. We were not able to stay there.
- Ross (2/5): Did not stay because it was so bad. - It was not even a hotel, it was a flop house with permanent residents renting by the month. I took one look at the room and headed back to the office to get my refund. I would take this place off your list of places to stay. They even said it was not a hotel when I got my money back. They referred to it as a MOTEL like in the 50's, it was so bad, I could not even stay there and I am not that picky if it is cheap. Take it off your list!!!!
- Kristina (2/5): - This place is a dump . I would not recommend it for anyone dog n cat crap everywhere loud noise calk in the bathtub room was falling apart stained mattresses one pillow per bed burnt n stained bedding pool was closed and charged 100.00 a night
- Anonymous (1/5): Bad - Nothing They don’t care about cleaning nothing and making sure it’s clean it’s all half work
- Raquel (6/5): - I travel often on a tight budget. I am always on the lookout for the cheapest price and location. So I expect the cheapest deal to not be the greatest quality. In this case I am not disappointed. There were cockroaches in the room. No trash can. No extra TP. No microwave oven. The AC did not work. The bed was so squeakie we had to put the mattress on the floor and sleep with the light on and one eye open to deter the roaches.
- Elizabeth (1/5): Bad -
- Tashina (1/5): Didnt stay. - The staff was friendly and refunded my room Cockroaches in every room
- Justin (1/5): Bad - The first night besides the loud neighbors. It was fine. Strong cleaning smell The second night, my daughter and I were up all night because of the bugs and bed bugs. She got a lot of bites the second night. And other bugs climbing everywhere. We kept the lights to detour those bugs. I do have a lot of pictures of the second night stay.
My five year old daughter didn’t sleep not more then three hours and I at most two hours a sleep. I tried to express everything in nice manner and a polite way… the front desk lady wouldn’t even acknowledge me to even ask for a refund for one night. Would not recommend
- Hambrick (1/5): Bad -
- Timothy (1/5): We didn't even stay one night. - Nothing and it has false advertisement. Very dirty and moldy.
- Julia (2/5): - This is more of a residential place than a roadside motel. The room was spacious, but dirty and in disrepair. There were roaches, no door number, broken door locks, no top sheet on the bed. The front desk gave us a refund immediately and we went to stay in the Holiday Inn near Gilbert. Sign says "free itch" instead of "kitchen". Should've known better!
- Peter (2/5): Not as Advertised - At check-in I was told they had no rooms so they were to move me to a sister motel - Miles motel - 0.7 miles away. It was disgusting. 7 cockroaches in the bath tub. More in the kitchenette. There bathroom door was broken. There were stains everywhere. One razor thin pillow. Only bedroom light was on the ceiling fan. No bedside table. Smoke detector was covered in a plastic bag. No shampoo only two bars of very small soap. Carpet was sticky. A horrible experience. It would be nice to stay at the motel I chose and not be sent to a 1 star slum down the road
- Tammy (10/5): Exceptional -
- captdonuk (2/5): left after I saw state of room and noisy, suspicious characters in residence or hanging about,, - Do not believe I or my car would be safe after dark. Room was dingy, stunk of cigarettes. At 4 p.m. without using room, returned key to manager, who I must say was a pleasant lady, and moved down street to Superior Suites, which it certainy was! She said she would remove 'pending' hold on my American Express, reassured me next day as well when I dropped by. Transaction was on 13 April 22, still on my statement, I willl advise AX to disregard it. One star is for pleasant lady who I sympathize with.
- Franklin (2/5): - The photos didn’t match the place. Awful.
- jona (2/5): - When I checked in the clerk told me they have no rooms available, the place looks like a dump, please credit my credit card
- sarebearf (2/5): Don’t stay here - Most disgusting place I’ve ever stayed at with terrible customer service. We called the day before and asked about early check in and they promised we could check in as soon as we got off the plane. When we tried to check in, they told us we had to wait an hour and every time we called to check if it was ready they added another hour. In total, we waited five hours for a room to be ready. When we finally got into the room, we noticed several roaches. Also, the cover blanket was covered in stains and the sheets on one of the beds had what looked like a blood stain on it. We decided to tough it out for the night because we were exhausted, but the bed was broken and slanted which made it ridiculously uncomfortable. We checked out the next day and were able to get a refund for the rest of the stay, but if I could give 0 stars I would. Do yourself a favor and choose literally any other cheap option in the Mesa area other than this dump.
- Alexis (6/5): Ok, Could of been better - Easy check in, location does not have a updated phone number on google and could not reach th motel which was frustrating.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Booked room at Colonnade was told all rooms were full so was sent to their overflow motel the Miles motel or roach motel yuck!! No coffee no microwave no in room phone no clock
Room was dirty trash behind lamp table
Just a bad experience will never return!!
- Kucharski (8/5): - Run down
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Kinda run down
- Jeff (2/5): - He room was infested with bed bugs 10 min after checking in they were every were biting my feet crawling all over my stuff i ended upthriwing awY 200$ clothes and bags the lady infront did refund $ withou
T a problem
- joseph (2/5): Spring Training(mis)Adventure! - We were in town for Baseball's Spring Training like thousands of others. After the game we went to check in. I gave my ID to the clerk, who had this horrid aroma therapy rig on the front desk. It was a little pot of stinky oil with a candle underneath. The whole office reeked. She looked at my ID and said, "we've been trying to reach yo all day. We don't have your room." Then the phone rang and it was someone who was familiar with my cancelled room. They went on and on about how they could not reach me. I was trapped in that stinkhole office for five minutes because she would bot give me my ID back. If there is no room, let me out of there.
The upshot, hotel.com peeps, when offered the option of paying on line or paying upon arrival, pay online. They gave away my room to a walk-in who paid more. Plain and simple. I did not stay here and cannot speak to any part of the property other than that horrible essential oil thing that she was using to pollute the breathing space of every customer. They gave away my room to a customer who paid more. Simple as that. If you go here, pay up front and transact through the night window. Absolutely obnoxious (and noxious) gases in the office.
- Valene (4/5): - We were told to stay at a branch motel by Colonade motel manager. The manager sent us to Miles Motel just east of Colonade motel.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - When I got to Colonade we were sent down to another facility. It was a run down facility where most of the tenants were extended stay low rent customers. The carpet in the room was wet and the tile floor was sticky. The smoke detector wiring was hanging loose without a detector. The room smelled heavily of tobacco. Switch plates were broken. The privacy curtain on the front window was sun rotten with large gaping holes. When the bed spread was pulled back the sheets were dirty and it took an hour form them to be replaced. The TV was broken. A mini TV was brought in to replace it. The furniture was broken. The front desk clerk was a very unpleasant and denied there was any problems. This is the worst motel experience ever!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We booked this place because of the proximity to where we were visiting. We got to the motel and they sent us down the street about 1 mile. This next motel sent us 2 miles down the road to an apartment. The place stunk of cigarette smoke and there was a dirty dish in the sink. The vertical blinds were old and the slats were falling. The TV was something out of the 1980's. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
- Jennifer (8/5): - It was nice to finally get privacy. Without hotel managers monitoring your every move was great. Usually I pay alot of $ for this kind of discreetness. It was nice still having money in my pocket after paying the bill😊👎👍
- rochelle (4/5): Worst stay away from home ever - It was disappointing . I called ahead and told the Colonade my arrival time because I was coming from San Diego & knew I would arrive after midnight. I arrived my card was debited then I was told my room was given to someone ELSE but I could go to a "sister" motel down the road. My room smelled of smoke & had none of the amenities that I paid for or expected !!
- Gordon (2/5): - When we arrived they said that they did not have a room for us because they were full and sent us to Miles Motel 5911 E Main St, Mesa, AZ. The Miles Motel was nothing but a roach infested dump and I have the pictures to proof it!
- richardcV5669ZT (2/5): Filthy dirty, non-caring management - Cockroaches in Kitchenette, silverfish in bathroom, floor so dirty that feet were black on bottom if walked on without shoes, missing plug cover in bathroom, fridge and microwave both very dirty; (had to clean ourselves before use), too many negatives to mention. The only positive is it didn't have bed bugs though the bedspread looked 20 years old with stains, dust, and ripped seams.
- laurapX473SJ (4/5): Doesn't seem very clean. Inquired about long term rental and they were not very interested. - My husband was having knee surgery and we wanted a place that he could recover in . The place advertised long term rentals but when I stopped by they had no incentive to offer this opportunity. There were no offers of any kind, in fact we were discouraged to stay there for this purpose.
- mrbongohead (2/5): STAY AWAY! - First, this was my fault for not following the golden rule of ' when in doubt, check the room out'. I didn't, so my bad. If this wasn't the worst room we've stayed in, it is very near the top. I don't think the floors have been washed in years, the closet doors were hanging against the wall, the toilet hadn't been flushed ( yes, we probably should have just walked). To turn the light on in the main area, you had to reach a chain on the ceiling. Good thing I'm not shorter. On the plus side, the sheets were clean, and the bed was actually comfortable. Oh ya, no towels (they were brought up after I mentioned that) The fridge, microwave and t.v. worked. And even though they had a pool and hot tub, I wouldn't dare use them, and a shower was out of the question.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff nice room beautiful big room like an apartment I was very impressed overall gets day definitely recommend
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The price got my attention but it was terrible from there. An older lady and her husband run this property and it is terrible. They are rude and you are subject to their rules and what they like. The customer is NOT always right. I was in a room with bugs crawling....
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was very very dirty. I found a cockroah and the shower curtain was incredibly dirty.
- Mark (8/5): It was okay - They have some small maintenance issues
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The staff at check-in was very nice and helpful. We were sent to 3 different places before we finally we able to get a room, The apartment was OK but there were several things not working. The day staff wasn't helpful or nice, Mary wasn't nice at all.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There was roaches in the room. Smell like smoking even when room was non smoking. Had to go.to different hotel because no 1st floor available.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place should be condemned. When I got to my room, there was a hole in the door where the deadbolt was supposed to be. Managements' solution was to put a "pass-thru" door knob in it, like you would use on your closet. When I entered, the furniture is all broken, not even a chair anywhere to sit in. The bedding was unmade and obviously used by a previous guest. There were NO light bulbs in the fixtures other than 1 flourescent fixture. The bath towels were stained and worn out. There was dirt and dust hanging from the ceiling fans and coating the shelves. Most covers on the electrical plugs were missing and many didn't work. I've traveled the world and stayed in some rough hotels in 3rd world counties...I've seen cleaner houses of ill repute around the world than this place......
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Exterior looked fine. Inside the unit reeked with stale, heavy smoking smell. Carpet was torn and filthy. Drapes were saggy, with holes, and shredded sections. B
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Bugs in the room. Noise during sleeping hours. No one in the office. Stained towels. Dingy room. Furniture in walkway upstairs. Very bad experience.
- S (8/5): - Better then expected, nice roim and friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (2/5): No no no - First off, we didn't even stay at this facility. We "checked in" only to be told they don't have the type of room we requested and that we were relocated to a sister facility. Ok. We check in over at the sister facility, and were given yet another facility to go to. Yes 3 DIFFERENT FACILITIES!!!! We finally get to our destination which is an apartment complex and it is horrible. The bed nearly broke as we sat on it, there was marijuana I the air and we just felt unsafe. We went back to leave and asked for our money. The lady at the desk (owner)was beyond rude and un accomidating. We didn't get our money back, but we stayed elsewhere where we felt safe. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. It's not worth saving a few bucks. P.S. this is the first review I have ever made, but this was such a terrible experience that I could not let it go.
- Rhonda (10/5): upgraded - we got upgraded to a better room! so we where happy with that!
- Compass242894 (2/5): Nightmare - If I could rate this hotel and experience a 0 or negative number I would. I booked through booking.com and was very happy wit them and the customer service. I booked two months in advance as I was flying in from Ny for a wedding. I arrived in AZ and got a call from the manager Mary.”yeah are you still coming as we are filling up.” Well of course but what should them filling up have to do wit my reservation? Hmm red flag. I finally arrived after flying all day and then driving. They didn’t have a room for me there and were sending me to another property. Ugh ok. I drove down there and they did not have a room for me either. Then this lady tells me they I’ll just put me into an apartment they own and I am not to complain as the price I was locked into was way affordable for what I was getting. She gave me the address and I was off to the sketchiest apartment complex. The lady was mad I refused to park my rental car on the street. A nice lady walked me up to my room and helped carry my bag as my hands were super full. I got in the apartment she said she just cleaned for me and it wreaked of marijuana. I then say thanks and close the door. Tried to lock it and it literally wouldn’t lock. I would lock it and the door would open right back up. Ok called Mary and told her this doesn’t work. In the meantime I used the bathroom only to discover barely any toilet paper and no back ups. I called again and said I hate to be a pain but there was no way this works. The lady who helped with my bag returned and tried to lock the door herself swig it indeed did not work. She moved me to another apartment in which the AC didn’t work and lights didn’t work. Furniture was peeling and bugs were on the floor. I remembered to no refund sign at the colonade and began to cry. I flew across country and I didn’t Ben feel safe. Or clean. I called booking.com and got the best customer service. The rep even called Mary and Mary was nothing but rude to her and said. “O we tried giving her several rooms and she didn’t like them” sorry my expectation was a clean place to walk into with a door that locked. Because I booked through another party I am in fact getting my full refund back and the manager. Mary was not happy and called me arguing. I left and went to my friends parents home and just had to warn others.
- Giovonna (10/5): Thank you again - Lady at front desk is amazing bet customet service ever
- B (2/5): Roach Hotel - I normally do not review hotels, but feel I should do so to warn others about this motel. This motel was filthy and was infested by roaches. When my cell phone alarm went off in the morning and my phone lit up the roaches scampered to get away from the light of the phone.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Very gross - DISGUSTING!! That place was a nightmare very gross several things broken and not even a telephone In the room
- VintageTravels (4/5): Travelers Beware! - The Colonade has recently renovated their rooms. With brand new beds & bed spreads, new flooring, new draperies with new cornices, and new chairs, the rest is old and should have been replaced as well.
Upon arrival, I was a bit concerned with the number of loiters I observed but later learned they're full-time residents. Nonetheless, being watched by so many was disconcerting. I was pleasantly surprised to see the room had recently been remodeled. I sat my sandwich down on the kitchenette counter and was thoroughly disgusted by the cockroaches swarming on it less than a few minutes later. In my haste to rid myself of this plight I spilled my cranberry drink. I grabbed the only wash cloth in the room to clean up what should have been only red. Imagine my further disgust when the once white cloth was now black!! I was too weary to argue with management about the roaches and the utterly filthy floors so I used the same cloth to mop the entire room. I stopped counting after 10 rinses. The single bath towel looked just as another review stated, "a mechanic's rag."
The next day, I was awoken from my midday nap by Mesa Police pounding on my door demanding I exit the room with my hands up. They were calling me "Claudia." I opened the door to tell them that isn't my name to which they demanded to know who else was in my room. The truth didn't appease them so I closed and dead bolted the door and called the front desk clerk. The front desk clerk made the police leave immediately and called me back to reassure me they were gone. I know Mesa police makes all motels submit the names and IDs of all guests to them in a nightly basis. The way MPD mishandled me I now understand why so many motels have kicked in doors!
It's a shame The Colonade is plagued with such a bad rap. With a little more renovations to eliminate the roach problem, maybe enforce a no loitering rule for its long term residents, and demand better behavior from the local police this could be a much better motel for travelers to use. As it stands now, I wouldn't recommend staying unless nothing else is available. The management are wonderful, kind people. Maybe too kind!
- 504billc (2/5): Flaming fan of fury...the nightmare continues - We were returning to Mesa for our flight home and literally could not find a room in Mesa, Gilbert or Chandler...then we found the Colonade Motel (que the scary music). My wife ran in to see if they had a vacancy and, not surprisingly, they did. We checked in and paid the almost $100 dollars. My first indication of this "motel hellishness" was the people congregating in little groups around back. We unloaded the luggage and brought it up to our room. I fit the actual key in the lock and it looked like the door had been booted in several times. Upon entry we found a dingy. ill lit "efficiency" room with a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bath. I locked the door and slid a chair under the door knob (which my wife giggled at and said she was thinking of doing the same thing). I tried turning on the air conditioner to get a little coolness in the stuffy room. It didn't seem to work well so I thought about turning on the ceiling fan above the bed. None of the light switches on the wall worked for this task so I stood on the bed and pulled the chain, a loud crackle and sparks surround the fan fixture, I panicked and pulled the chain again and it broke off.....thank god that the fan went off....so did I, fell off the bed. My wife was laughing so hard she couldn't talk. We decided we needed something to eat, so my wife looked for a spot to hide the luggage and we snuck back to the car to make sure no one saw us leave. We were back with some Craivins doughnuts quickly (those are great doughnuts by the way, I would recommend them). Once back in the room, door wedged with chair, curtains closed tightly, ceiling fan OFF, we decided to get in bed. I removed the bed spread, there appeared to be a large blood stain on it....or else they were painting something red...but I didn't notice any red highlights in the room. The sheets and pillow cases did smell clean though (thus the 1 star)! The towels in the bathrooms looked like someone used them to work on a car, the toilet bowl was so stained I thought we were in the county lock up (I'm sure our neighbors were frequent visitors), we for obvious reasons did not remove our footgear until we got in bed....oh yea...I forgot the part about checking on the car every 10 minutes...I asked my wife to do it once and she yelled "you only want me to do it so you don't have to touch the curtains!" I chuckled. After falling into a sweaty slumber (not wife induced) I was awoken by a knocking noise, not one of our formerly incarcerated neighbors, but from the drain in the bathroom sink. My wife, the intrepid explorer, got up in the dark and discovered if you closed the drain in the sink the noise went away...you go girl! We were up at 4:30 to catch our flight, the car was still there! No one had jimmied the door! We showered and dried with a beach towel we had with us and out we went. We noticed a younger male smoking under the stairway at 5 A.M on our way out, didn't make eye contact, shoved the key in the office slot and we were liberated!!
Everything I just wrote is true with no embellishment. I read the other reviews and laughed, they were DEAD on. No remote for the TV either! Can't say I would recommend this place...but it definitely made a memory and I will enjoy telling the tale for a looong time. Never did check to see if we got free wifi or breakfast....so maybe I'm being to harsh!
- 190yezeniam (2/5): A nightmare - I was looking everywhere for a place to stay because my daughter was sleepy and we needed a place to stay i looked everywere before i got the room it looked pretty normal at the begining bt wen i went in the room i got so scared my daughter Found a needle with heroin something i had never seen in my life i felt so afraid this place is spray then stayin in your car DO NOT GO THERE!!!!
- tripplanneera (2/5): Drug Infested an Cheap! Dangerous - I stayed at this motel about a month ago and it was the worse run down motel imaginable. I was afraid to step out of the room because of the shady looking characters that were surrounding the neighboring suites. This montel is very sleezy an disgusting. After being given a room myself an my husband noticed people were hanging out on the stairs an smoking in front of the rooms.
The room did not have toliet paper or towel much less any appliances. I went over to the front desk to ask for toliet paper as of course not even the telephone was operating. Once given the supplies the towel looked dingy an very used an I saw a woman topless walkign out of a room an up the stairs towards another room. I was absoultely disgusted prostitutes an drug addicts is all you will find here.
DON'T waste your time or money here!!!! The last hour before my check out time while I gathered all of my belongings police had raided a room about 6ft from mine and it was the most nerve racking experience of my life. I was panicked and could not wait to exist this property. I wasnt sure what to expect but looking at uniformed officers with baradade sheilds is quite literally not the trip Id planned for. I sincerely hope this helps anyone at all save them from the experience I had.
- terrytTerry (2/5): If you're into meth and hookers then this is the place for you. - I found myself in Mesa late one night without a booking and found this place on google maps. The other motels in the area were full so I thought I'd give it a go. The place looked dodge from the start but it was late and I'd been driving for 6 hours so I took a room. The reception girl took me to the room at the far end of the complex where there were loads of shifty looking blokes knocking about staring at us as we took our bags to our room.
It took less than 30 seconds to realise that no sane person would stay in a motel like this. The room was a mess and stank to high heaven.
I don't like giving bad reviews but felt it my duty. Unless you've been kicked out of your home and are a step away from homelessness don't stay here. Seriously, don't stay here. Of course if you have a soft spot for crystal meth and "professional" ladies and no possessions of worth then you might love it.
- foghattime (2/5): Run DONT STOP HERE - if your on drugs good place to stay...if ur normal like the rest of us dont stop here....place is nasty rooms..pool..cleaning people dont talk english...everything is nasty about the place.......beds nasty...people liven the are just hookers and drugies..nothing good about the place.......
- inturn (4/5): Bang Bang-pow pow, high pitched screams, lock the door - Dont stay here unless you like the drama, shady characters-always watching your car so nobody steals from it
- drjawsCranbrook_BC (2/5): Filthy and very overpriced - We had been staying at a very nice resort in Oak Creek Village but the weather report forecast snow and we chose to leave the night before to ensure that we could make our flight from Phoenix the next day. We searched for hotels near the airport but they were all booked. We found the Colonade on Booking.com and made the reservation. When we arrived after 10pm. tired from rushing to make it to Mesa, we were first directed to a "condo" about a mile away. It was filthy and totally unsuitable so we returned and the clerk apologized and gave us #205. It was a small smelly room with a bare kitchenette and no utensils or dishes. One of the night clerks did make an attempt to find some dishes and bring extra towels and he did find a plug for the bathtub. He was courteous and polite but we would never come here again. Then I found out that Booking, com was offering the same room online for $14 less. We were desperate but this is a terrible place with missing light bulbs, threadbare towels, no hangers in the flimsy closet and peeling laminate off the cheap particle board bed frame. No doubt years from now this will be good for a laugh, but we hardly feel that way tonight. Booking.com did not have any reviews available when I booked this place, but I see several now that would have warned us what to expect.
