Guest Reviews
- Ronald (8/5): Very comfortable clean rooms in a great location for local attractions - Excellent location The balconies on most of the front rooms are in shadow most of the day. So not good if you like to sit out in the sun.
- Amanda (7/5): We would go back as the location was great were the apartment is the area is beautiful - The family was very friendly made us very welcome The internet didn’t work for us at all had to do a bit of a clean the housekeeping was just bins empty but was great for price

Wifi poco funzionante
- Sokol (5/5): Good reception , dirty rooms - The reception was very good lady Very dirty the rooms
- Ilze (9/5): Great Place to Stay - Great Host's ❤️ Make You feel like part of family. ❤️ Location great, great meals. Honestly left this place feeling very happy and wanting to come back again and again. Cleaner could do a bit better with cleaning communal areas.
- Ilze (9/5): Great Family Holiday - We had a really great time, was really sad to leave. Met lots of great people. Hosts are great, treat you like part of family. Very helpful if anything needed. Meals in their restaurant are very delicious 😋 Most important that my parents stayed very satisfied with their holiday and Hosts. They said that they loved it and felt so welcomed by hosts. Definitely coming back ❤️🤗🥰 Cleaning lady could a bit improve her cleaning in communal areas. She's really lovely as a person but needs a bit improvement in her work.
- marchiori (10/5): -
- Kapantaidakis (7/5): -
- Kenneth (8/5): - Great location in the centre of the village. Quiet clean and great staff.
- Fran (8/5): Very good - There is a swimming pool, which is very cool and there is a restaurant as well as a bar so everything we need.
The location as well, really good. Could be better according to the different room.
Ours was good enough but could’ve been better.
Especially on the cleanliness.
But still a great Place !
- Rune (2/5): Avoid this hotel – even if it’s cheap! -
There was no cleaning of the rooms! We had to complain, and only after four days did someone finally come to empty the trash, change towels, and clean. We even had to buy toilet paper ourselves.
The pool area is filthy. The cleaning lady just sprays dirty water around with a garden hose – and it all goes straight into the pool! It might look cleaner when wet, but once it dries, it’s muddy with footprints everywhere. Guests had to use the pool net themselves to fish out dead insects and flowers. No one ever cleaned the pool properly.
We asked to keep our room for a few extra hours due to a late flight. They wanted €40 for 4 hours – ridiculous. We decided to use the downstairs shower instead, but it was absolutely disgusting. Dead flies everywhere, no lock on the door, and totally unhygienic. The toilet next to it was just as bad – filthy, full of flies, no light, and no lock.
Do not stay at this hotel. Being cheap doesn’t make up for how awful it is!
- John (10/5): Fantastic food in a beautiful location run by very friendly hosts. Well worth the visit. - This is our third time staying at Ariadni palace and as always it never fails to impress. The food and the Ambiance are second to none. This is a family run business and they do everything to make you feel like part of the family. Will definitely be returning. No complaints
- Andy (7/5): Ok for 3 days - Nice pool & great location The constant smell of food from the attached resturant
- Amanda (8/5): Good value for money - Central location
- Terry (7/5): Good -
- Sharon (10/5): Excelling family hotel . Return year after year - Lovely family photo Nothing
- Ellen (8/5): Very good - perfect location very friendly people and we will be back again
- Lisa (10/5): would definitely return to stay at Ariadni 😊 - Ariadni is family run and it was so convenient and a very central location , perfect for strolling through the villages , rooms were basic but had everything we needed , beds were very comfortable and it had a good shower too ..there is a great restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and staff very small pool and not much room around it for sunloungers and then the building blocked a lot of the sun , but we still enjoyed the time we spent relaxing by the pool and listening to the music that they played
- William (9/5): Superb - Great location, really friendly helpful staff, great restaurant. Typically Greek, this was our second stay and everything was as expected
- Maisie (5/5): Passable - Location was really good The room wasn't clean. There was lots of ants and flies.
- James (10/5): Spectacular location - incredible value for money - lovely hosts - Fabulous location in a stunning part of Crete, immaculately clean, fantastic hosts and incredible value for money The only thing and this is extremely minor as everything was exceptional is that there were a great selection of pans but no cooker and lots of cups and saucers but no kettle so couldn’t make a cup of tea - the owners were so lovely I’m sure they would have provided one if I’d have asked - but it was such a short stay and there was a coffee maker instead :)
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Georgios (7/5): Good - Very good location!
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Ryan (10/5): Excellent place for a short stay - Ariadni Palace is located in the middle of the beautiful village Koutouloufari which hosts amazing restaurants and taverns. It’s a family-owned and operated business. Service was overall very friendly exceeding expectations during lunch and dinner timeframes but admittedly not as stellar during the afternoon. Travelers should understand Ariadni rents short term apartments not hotel rooms. So be sure to either bring all your toiletries or be ready to purchase at one of the nearby markets; there’s one located next door to Ariadni. Kindly note room taxes were an additional 1.5 Euros and use of the AC is an additional 10 Euros per night. Even with the added charges room rates are rather low. The pool is small and more for wading with limited area for sunbathing. However, I greatly enjoyed sipping on a sangria, garnished with a smoked cinnamon stick, while seated at the bar next to the pool.
- Alexia (7/5): Basic and quiet - The room is good and spacious and has all the potentials to be a really good hotel. Value for money compared to other hotels in the area But the thing is that they don't offer basic facilities like soap which is something really cheap, sponge for the kitchen, cleanliness (in 5 days they mοpped just once with nothing else), for the toilette paper you have to ask and the most important is that you have to stay with the garbage because they don't throw garbage away in a daily time or give you spare bags to change them by yourself.
So, if you choose this hotel you have to know that you have to buy the basic things for kitchen and bathroom by yourself.
- Sue (8/5): Exactly what we were looking for.. somewhere to lay our head at night and relax by the pool by day and placed right in t - Very clean, comfortable and relaxed. Excellent location in the village. Staff here were immensely friendly, fun and helpful. Their restaurant has fabulous food. We would most definitely recommend to anyone. It is great value for money. Very Basic but a great alternative to the 5* expense, which honestly is not needed in Koutouloufari.
We will definately be back. Sue & Steve (uk). Not much room round the pool area. Lack of umbrellas. However this did not lessen our holiday experience in any way.
- Deely (10/5): Warm and very welcoming - We were welcomed with such warmth by every single staff member as soon as we arrived. We felt like home during our very short stay. The food was excellent and beds were comfy too. We would highly recommend this place and we hope to return some day in the near future
- Niek (7/5): Perfect location with lovely restaurants in the centre of Koutouloufari - Pool and restaurant Everything was okay
- Liam (8/5): Brilliant budget hotel experience, with very friendly and accommodating staff, would recommend. - Great location, friendly staff A little dated, but that was more than made up for in great value for money.
- Daniel (5/5): Passable - There were cockroaches and increased humidity in room 106
- Paschalis (9/5): Superb -
- Carole (10/5): A lovely time as usual , all staff were amazing and so welcoming - Absolutely love staying at Ariadni , it’s our 6th consecutive visit , staff are always so welcoming . The studio we stayed in suited our needs and was clean and well serviced . The restaurant at Ariadni’s is one of the best in Koutouloufari and we look forward to coming back again next year and the year after . Everything was good
- Violeta (3/5): You get what you pay for. - I liked the reception staff.Nearby are very nice restaurants and even a supermarket. The room wasn't cleaned that well,we run out of toilet paper half way through our stay and no other was provided even when i asked the housekeeping staff.tye towels and bedsheets provided were stained. The hotel is a bit far from the main street and it is uphill making it difficult to reach after a long and tiring day.We didn't had aircon and it was pretty hot some nights and if we slept with a window open there were mosquitoes coming in the room.
- Sharon (10/5): Lovely friendly family - Location was excellent Nothing
- Catherine (10/5): A great basic budget hotel - In an excellent location in the heart of the village is this brilliant basic budget hotel. No frills for sure but spacious bedroom, comfy beds, lots of cupboard space, very good proper bathroom with proper enclosed shower cubicle, no curtains!! Decent lounge kettle, coffee machine, sandwich toaster and 2 rings, fridge.
Cleaned on alternate days so always nice and fresh, towels and clean sheets x2 per week, good quality and mattress protectors on the beds, spare pillows and blankets The downside is the pool area, there is very little space for sunbathing, no pool bar as such though the restaurant bar is open during the day. It being a restaurant other customers are always there and it can feel a bit public. If you like sitting round a pool bar in your bikini all day don’t come here -unless you are going to go off to other pools or the beaches of course
- Ali (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arno (8/5): Very good - Family company based in the center of Koutouloufari
- Ryanblear (3/5): Cheap, but certainly not cheerful. - Location and cheap. That's about it. Appreciate its cheap and cheerful but there is still a level of expectations regardless, especially for a "3*" hotel. Was put in a room downstairs below the pool ( Room 106 ) where your "balcony view" is a brick wall facing the pool. Was told the hotel was "full" yet only saw 3/4 more rooms with guests in it during our stay.
The room itself is very dated. The bathroom door was stiff with a window that didn't open. Floor mat disgusting, never washed or changed. The main bedroom was that old it had a radio built into the wall with a headboard that exploded with dust at the touch. Half the plugs in the bedroom didn't work. Stain on the bed. The kitchen, for a 3 person room had two plates, two what can only be described as shot glasses and one tall glass. Also had to be on bug control each evening removing what I hope was mosquitos from the room, along with large cockroaches....
Finally the staff. Was very much welcomed the first evening, encouraged to eat in the restaurant ( which we did ) but after that it wen't downhill. Every place in Koutouloufari will say hello to you when you pass regardless on whether your entering or not. Not once did this happen at Ariadni. The staff were only interested in you if you were going to the restaurant. Was told by another guest that they had witnessed other guests being threatened with the police because they would not put their sunbeds away - oh yes you have to put your own sunbed out and put it back when finished with - And I personally had a frosty conversation with the owner over checking out. Ended up leaving a day early and moving to another hotel because of how uncomfortable and dissatisfied we were.
Did not feel at all comfortable approaching any of the staff about our concerns during our stay, can tell the hotel is an after thought from the restaurant business. I appreciate this hotel is cheap, but I would seriously avoid and pay the extra for other properties in the area.
- Angela (8/5): Very good -
- Sandie (8/5): Very good -
- Theresa (8/5): Very good - Excellent value for money, clean, comfortable and perfect for a two week stay visiting family.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb - Rustic but charming as were the staff
Yamas!
- Cleland (8/5): Great location at a good price - Location N/a
- Jackie (10/5): Very enjoyable stay and will stay again - Very good breakfast menu Full size mirror in room would be nice
- David-scot (8/5): Very good -
- Gabriela (10/5): Amazing place - Place was perfect
Stuff was amaizing and helpful
Very clean and amazing food .
Location was good too. I stay with my two daughters
- Charlotte (10/5): Great place to stay - Friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms Everything was great, the decor is slightly dated but didn't have a negative impact at all
- Argyris (7/5): Nice location, clean hotel! - Nice area with everything you need in walking distance, a quite touristy but yet cozy area with plenty of restaurants! The description and pictures showed that there was an oven, however the kitchen lacked both ventilation and oven (it had stoves for boiling though). So the cooking became challenging!
- Alkousi (3/5): Poor - Location The shower was broken...very old everything in the room..behalve that the lady from reception couldn't find my reservation when i went to take the key...and when i left she said that we had to leave earlier because the check out was earlier and this was no where writen and she didn't told us from the beginning...i recomend only when you don't have other choice..
- Jennifer (8/5): Great - The food in the restaurant was amazing. The staff were all very friendly and the accommodation was basic but most importantly clean. Bathroom bin could have been emptied daily.
- Darren (10/5): Family run wonderland - The hotel & restaurant is run by the family an they make you feel very welcome from momma down to Ariadni,s children they are all lovely people every one of them.
It makes you stay so much nicer.
The location was fantastic
The food was totally Amazing my wife had the mousaaka 3 x lol
Thanks momma, macrons, Jannis, Minos, Ariadni, uncle an of course all the children
WE WILL BE BACK!!!
- Stavros (9/5): great place to stay -
- Sven (8/5): Very good - Friendly owners, good location, nice terrace Bathroom is bit old and weary. No showergel nor shampoo. Everything is a bit worn down.
- Daisy (8/5): Lovely place to stay, and great price! - Great restaurant on your door step! Pool was clean and rooms where large and comfortable! Pool didn’t have the best places to relax next to and the restaurant was the main focus of all staff. Long walk to the beach!
- Magda (10/5): amazing place!! 10 out of 10, highly recommend - beautiful place, beautiful location, fully equiped and very pleasing to the eyes. Very clean, staff is amazing, very nice and very friendly, professional, the restaurant has fresh food and very tasty, at good prices and the food arrived fast. The owners are extremely friendly and wonderful people, really made my stay a very pleasant experience. Fell in love with everything! Will surely return. there is nothing not to like
- Sarah (6/5): Pleasant -
- William (9/5): Great family run hotel with a really good restaurant - Breakfast was very good and their restaurant was excellent, pizzas and slow cooked lamb from the wood oven, and other traditional Greek food, and the service was really good, fast and friendly, and good sized portions. This is a family run hotel and they go out of their way to make sure you're satisfied. The staff were really friendly and helpful, rooms were very clean, aircon was good. The location was perfect for us. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Koutouloufari. We were happy with everything.
- Mr. (9/5): Superb -
- Denisgrauh (10/5): Simply amazing - Stayed with this amazingly friendly, international yet traditional Greek family who gave a little personal touch to the service and their guests. It was like staying with family really. Also had the best cheeseburgers in town from their kitchen! Will definitely stay here again when visiting. Can’t really wait ❤️
- Freya (7/5): Good -
- Lily (10/5): Exceptional - The service in the hotel is brilliant. It was my second time returning to the hotel and all the staff remembered me. Perfect location for all the bars, restaurants and shops. Already planning my third stay for this year :)
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
- Lauren (8/5): relaxing break, would stay again! - we have stayed here a few times! it’s a lovely family run place and it’s in a perfect location.
- Adriana (6/5): Room not as advertised, much much smaller. Wifi hardly available. No daily cleaning. - Room had a nice terrace looking over the sea and street.
Nice location but keep in mind if you want to cherso you need to walk down the hill.
Nice to be able to cook yourself (including small oven) Basic kitchen appliances like plates, cutlery and cooking pan available.
For the price we paid in early season it was OK but not for 30 euro a night in high season. The room is not as advertised on booking (room 202). The room we got was half the size as in the pictures, and it was very small. Wifi is mostly not available or working (shared with the restaurant). To get to the rooms, you have to walk through the outdoor restaurant, which felt quite uncomfortable for us (even tho it was not crowded now). The swimming pool borders the restaurant so if you go sunbathing everybody in the restaurant is overlooking that.
The showercabin was super tiny, like 60 cm x 60 cm.
Too much furniture in the room was making it smaller than it already was. We moved it around. Otherwise, you would hurt yourself when you go out of bed at night.
Cleaning only once in 5 nights. Only 1 toiletrol and no change of towels or in 5 nights.
Super soft mattress.
- Steve (6/5): The rooms themselves are nice, too many other issues though - The rooms themselves were nice, too many other issues though well there's no internet as advertised. Sometimes you'll get signal but you have to stand on one leg and hold your phone at a a certain angle, I had to buy a data sim. This of course wont affect everyone but if you're there for work it's a bit naff
I had issues with my room, next door had some kind of plumbing issue I think as every 30 seconds the wall would vibrate and there' d be a bang. Not so much of an issue in the daytime but at night it was very annoying even through noise cancelling headphones
I moved to a basement room which was ok, a bit dingy, at least quiet. There's an ants nest in the corner of the bathroom and ants would build up every few hours but nothing a hose from the shower wouldnt fix. Also there's a billion flies that help themselves in whenver you open the front door
Would I stay again? No. Do I recommend it? Hey listen its cheap, maybe I was just unlucky, the rooms are nice, I just had a few other issues that made my stay suck
- Yanus74 (8/5): Very good -
- Nicole (8/5): Very good - The room was nice with a balcony, pool was very nice, an easy walk downhill into the main street and some great restaurants and shops near to the hotel
- Carole (8/5): Very good -

- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iryna (8/5): Very good - Excellent price-quality ratio. There was no hot water in our room.
- Géza (9/5): Worthy for money but it is more for people who just want to stay around the small village - Kind stuff, well equipped studio, comfortable bed, clean. Wifi is a shared one with the restaurant, and was very poor sometimes disappeared, weak and slow.
- Kate (8/5): comfortable, quiet and clean - good location and clean nothing
- Lynn (8/5): Very good -
- Tom (9/5): Superb - Everything apart from the WiFi but that's not everything Smart TV that wasn't very smart as WiFi no good.
- Debora (9/5): Superb - Staff were so welcoming and helpful, always willing to help with a smile, special mention to the lady at reception!
The apartment was bright, clean and well equipped, and spacious enough for 2 people.
The bed was so comfy, I slept so well (did not stay there overnight but I used the room during the day since my flight was at midnight and needed a place to stay and rest).
Excellent value for money. Highly recommended. Bar and restaurant slightly overpriced for the area
- Bernadette (10/5): Wonderful family run hotel in perfect location. - The price was unbelievable. Location perfect. Great pool and the rooms were spacious and very clean and quite well equipped. The family owners were very, very nice and made you feel welcome. The restaurant was wonderful too. Perfect. Nothing, all was brilliant

- Caroline (7/5): Good - Good location in the middle of the village, was worried that it would be noisy but it was actually quiet. Pool looked good though didn't use it. Shower was fantastic, one of the best I have had in many years of visiting Greece. Clean and the beds were comfortable. Overall good value for money. Room 102 is very small. It's a one bed apartment but wouldn't have wanted to have a third person in there. We had the tiniest space to squeeze between the bed and the wardrobe and mum ended up with bruises down her legs. Beds changed twice in the week we were there which is ok but bathroom bins also only emptied twice which isn't really.
- Dek (8/5): Great stay, good value - Great location friendly staff, nice pool and food, great value. All good nothing to dislike.
- Holmes (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (10/5): fabulous friendlu owners who run an amazing hotel - lovely rooms . really clean. free ac nothing
- Klimis (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Air conditioning should be free if advertised - We had a lovely stay here. Only problem we had was when the air conditioning went off and we were told we had to pay for it even though it had been on for 3 days since we arrived and on their website it says air conditioning FREE. The restaurant was lovely the pool was quiet and the housekeeping was useful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Basic apartment in the centre of Koutouloufari - Low price so high value for money.
But everything is there.
Not much space around the swimming pool.
Warm water to shower or wash your hands is very rarely available.
