• A. G. (2/5): Such a bad experience - A totally unfriendly and rude housekeeper !!! Asking for 7 euro/day for the use of A/C (in the condition as in attached pics). The room was terribly old....There was no water in the toilets...the fridge was out of order (they have replaced that entering our room without any previous warning while sleeping)..ther are no words to describe our disappointment! Avoid this "hotel" at any cost!
• Marscha (9/5): Een super verblijf voor een heerlijke vakantie - Verwacht geen luxe hotel, maar wel een hotel met een warm ontvangst, zeer gastvrije eigenaren en alle faciliteiten die je nodig hebt voor een fijn verblijf. Wij hadden het appartement met 2 slaapkamers met een (smal) balkon en mooi uitzicht. De keuken is simpel, maar met een grote koelkast met vriezer. Er is airconditioning in de slaapkamers, wat erg fijn is tijdens het slapen. Bij het hotel zit een gezellige bar waar je diverse drankjes en gerechten kunt bestellen. Daarnaast ligt er een fijn zwembad naast de bar. Er zijn altijd ligbedjes beschikbaar en je kan zelf een heerlijk plekje uitzoeken op het gras in de zon of schaduw van de grote olijfbomen. Het zwembad is niet groot, maar dat is ook niet nodig. Door de kleinschaligheid van het hotel is het nooit heel druk bij het zwembad. Wij hebben er soms ook wel alleen gezeten, zodat het leek alsof we een privé zwembad hadden. Het hotel is ideaal gelegen ten opzichte van het oude en ‘nieuwe’ centrum. Alles op enkele minuten loopafstand. Het strand is circa 15 tot 20 minuten lopen. De gastvrijheid van de eigenaren springt echt wel het meest in het oog. We hebben ons nog nooit zo welkom gevoeld. Ze staan echt voor alles voor iedereen klaar.

• Stefano (4/5): Sotto lo standard - La posizione vicina al centro, la piscina e lo spazio in giardino, la gentilezza della famiglia che gestisce il posto La struttura e’ troppo basica, non ci sono servizi a parte un bar dove servono la colazione e il cibo se si vuole mangiare li’, le camere non hanno nulla a parte un frigorifero. I letti non sono comodi e nella mia stanza c’era solo un cuscino fornito al check in. Inoltre in 3 giorni non sono mai stati cambiati gli asciugamani e la camera mai pulita, oltre al fatto che le porte e le chiavi sono troppo rumorose e non c’e’ insonorizzazione. Non sono mai riuscito a dormire , le camere danno sulla strada e una piscina covo di inglesi che urlano a qualunque ora del giorno e della notte con musica ad alto volume più gli ospiti giovani che hanno fatto casino fino a mattina inoltrata. La struttura dove sono le camere da’ un senso di abbandono, solo la zona piscina e’ un poco più curata.

• Bianca (8/5): Very good - Nice location. Close to the "main street" full of shops and restaurants. Amazing staff ! They were so helpful on our last day when our flight was only at 11pm and immediately came up with a solution to make the travel day easier. Also quickly assisted us when we asked for more pillows. Pool area is lovely. Unfortunately due to the young crowd that stays there, it was very noisy after midnight when we tried to sleep. We know it is not the owner's fault, we just think you should take that in to consideration. It is also expected seeing as it is close to the club area.

• Angélique (10/5): Super petit hôtel qui mérite d'être connu - Hôtel familial très bien placé, tout près des clubs et restaurants, tout en étant au calme. Les hôtes sont adorables, accueillants, toujours disponibles, on a passé un super séjour ! Les chambres sont basiques mais confortables, petit coin cuisine, belle piscine avec transats à disposition, on se gare facilement à proximité dans la rue. Seul bémol : pas de savon, et mauvaise insonorisation donc quand vous avez des voisins "seuls au monde" vive les bouchons d'oreille !

• PaulaF99 (10/5): Peaceful friendly accommodation near Old Town Malia - Four of us spent a week here in mid May 2025. It is so lovely and quiet. Aris, Eleni & Dimitri are good hosts and very welcoming. It's a short walk to the Old Town restaurants, near the shops and bars, but quiet and relaxing. The views to the mountains are wonderful. If you have transport, try out the Kritsa Gorge, the fish restaurants at Milatos and the pretty beach at Potamos. Nice bar and food served by a kind Greek family. The fresh eggs from the chickens are wonderful. Thank you for a perfect week.

Good location, very close to main street with pubs and restaurants nonetheless hotel is situated in quiet place. Close to supermarket. There is a free small parking/pavement next to hotel where you can park your car. Shout-out to personnel for upgrading our room without extra cost.

• Sunshine15729421663 (8/5): Ibiscus apartments Malia - A very nice studio apartment. Recently renovated to a high standard. A large triple bed room, a very good air con unit and a basic kitchen area good enough for your basic self catering requirements. The room was light and airy. The proprietors were nice and helpful especially the old chap and the younger son. We didnt use the facilities as we prefer the beach, but the pool looked good.

• chl0e124 (10/5): Such attentive friendly staff - -staff were so friendly and helpful -came and fixed our aircon in the middle of the night which we were so grateful for - food by the pool was so well priced and lovely simple food - the pool was great and there is plenty of space for deck chairs too around the pool - all the basics you could need in the apartment, fridge, plates, cups, mugs, cutlery ect id just remember to buy some soap and a sponge for cleaning -also remember to bring your own hair dryer as there isn’t one - felt so safe the whole stay as staff were so attentive and there was always someone opposite the hotel too so when you came in from nights out you didn’t have to worry about anything - was very pleased with everything thank you for everything x

Front door was locked with no fire escape route or instructions. 1. For 3 nights the room was not cleaned and towels were not changed. If this is important to you, ask owners in advance. 2. There is no soap in the room at all. If you arrive after 23.00, when the supermarket closes, then buy soap in advance. 3. No hair dryer. 4. Additional fee of 7 EUR per day for air conditioning. 5. Very loud locks and keys. When neighbors return from nightclubs in the morning, they are forced to knock their keys loudly. 6. Only unofficial parking on pavement.

• katiejZ3129LL (10/5): Amazing!! - Went back in July 2022 but only just remembered to write a review. This hotel is amazing, the family who run this are so friendly and helpful we felt very welcome. Extra charge for aircon is to be expected anywhere, but this was very cheap in comparison to other hotels. The pool bar and pool were amazing and very cheap, ask them for their recommendation and you will get the best cocktails! The room was very clean and had everything you needed, with the balcony a perfect addition. It is in a great location at the top of the strip, only a 15min ish walk from the hotel to the beach. We would defiantly stay again, with the hospitality of the family being the main reason for this! You also cannot beat the view from the pool bar it is incredible! Also to add to the amazing hospitality of this family run business, our flight home kept getting delayed and we thought it may have been cancelled, the owners were brilliant, held our bags and offered for us to stay an extra night at a reduced rate if needed.

I also liked how the outside pool and bar had a great view of the mountains. The rooms where nice and cosy and had everything you needed. The only improvement which could’ve been made was an updated shower head. Other than that everything was great.

• summerp770 (8/5): Minimal but perfect - My partner and I stayed here for one week and we had a fantastic time! The rooms are very basic, but exactly what you need if you’re somebody who likes to venture out everyday. The apartments are located so close to activities in Malia, but we found that the longer walk to Stalis beach was worth it (this beach was much nicer than Malia’s). The food offered for an extra cost (very reasonably priced) is cooked fresh and we loved it. The owners are so friendly and helpful, there is nothing they will not do to make your stay a positive one. The only downside was having to pay extra for the air con on arrival.

• Verified traveler (6/5): - The owners were friendly and helpful, and it was cheap. However, the fact that A/C was NOT included was well hidden in the list of conditions. While Expedia listed the place as "having A/C", you actually have to pay 6-8 Euros extra to actually "use" the A/C. I think it is important for potential future customers to know that yes, the place is cheap and the owners are nice, don't be surprised that you will have to pay extra for A/C.

The family who ran the hotel was incredibly friendly and always wanting to help out in any way possible. Location seas amazing. Only an 18 minute walk away from the beach.
• Alain (6/5): Séjour crétois à petit prix - L'accueil est excellent. Les 2 frères sont hyper accueillants et sympathiques. Le coin piscine est agréable, y prendre un petit déjeuner crétois l'incite. Les chambres ne donnent pas sur la route, ce qui est un avantage. Par contre, les chambres sont mal isolées, et c'est difficile à supporter si des voisins sont bruyants. Sinon , c'est un coin agréable pour un petit prix

La posizione della struttura è molto buona (un po' difficile da trovare...), in zona tranquilla ma vicina al centro, comodissima per raggiungere Malia Vecchia e con facilità di parcheggio. Sono soddisfatto della scelta fatta, se non si cerca il lusso la struttura è vecchiotta ma ottima. Lo consiglio

Those people are just amazing, welcoming you warmly, caring about your needs, giving advices and tips for your stay... and also speaking with you as friends could do about the way the world is going, about politics, philosophy, music or books. Well, if you don’t look for a palace or a fancy place but just for a warm, friendly pension with true people, don’t miss Ibiscus when in Malia!

• typhoon2011 (10/5): Friendly family hotel - Spent 6 nights at Ibiscus Hotel. Ari, Elani & Dmitri , friendliest people on the planet. Ari, organised fantastic day trip aroubd Lasiti and Knossos, no extra charge. Rooms very good, overlooked pool. Towels and bedding changed every two days. Pool was great, my son was in it constantly. He also enjoyed food, saying it was best ever. Local people in Malia, very warm and welcoming. Saw golde eagle flying everyday.
• Dem (10/5): The most friendly staff and the most homely stay. - Myself and a friend stayed at the Ibiscus Hotel in Malia for 6 nights. This is the first ever review I have made about a hotel, and I truly believe it deserves a brilliant rating. This was our first holiday abroad without a parental presence and, as you can imagine, we were a bit nervous. However as soon as we found the manager of the hotel, we instantly felt so much more relaxed. He quickly and helpfully took us through the important details of our stay, informed us about the AC, and that we were able to ask them for any help. During our stay we both wanted to try hiking through the Samaria Gorge (about five hours from Malia by coach) the manager and his wife were able to set us up with our excursion tickets and advice on the trip within 20 minutes of us enquiring. Every time we came back to the hotel after a day of exploring they welcomed us warmly and on occasion we engaged with them about how we are getting on. The environment at Ibiscus Hotel really did enhance our experience in Malia and the staff really do care about you having a brilliant time while you are there. During the day it was peaceful, with music playing in the main area with the pool and a beautiful view of the mountains all around. On our last night at the hotel it was a little bit emotional for me and my friend to say goodbye to the staff, that in itself highlighted how wonderful we had felt during our stay. If I ever come back to the same area, without a doubt or second thought I would stay here again.

They have nice restaurant, nice swimming pool, of nice family When you come here, you're apart of the family, so don't make trouble
• tpe707 (10/5): Incredible Experience - My friends and I were staying in Hibiscus Hotel for 6 days and we enjoyed every moment ! Right from the beginning, the kind and thoughtful service made us feel wanted. During the vacation, Helany, Harry and Dimitri (the owners of the hotel) helped us get around in this amazing area and serviced us kindly. Every question or request was answered. In conclusion, GO TO HIBISCUS !
• josho432 (10/5): Amazing!!! - I went to this hotel in the summer, after flying to Bulgaria a week before. I was amazed at how awesome the staff of this hotel was and how the location was perfect!! It was 5 minute walk from the road of all the bars. Ari and his staff are very warm and welcoming and i advise whoever is 18 and is looking to party and needs a good hotel, Ibiscus Hotel is the place to be!!! Ask him to make you the special cocktail, that stuff will get you going all night
• anastasiab323 (10/5): The best hotel in malia!!! - I stayed in this hotel with 2 of my friends during September. We got there by accident and it turned out to be one of the best part of the trip. The family that runs this place is amazing, kind and worm! We fell in love with Maria and got to know these amazing people. Great rooms, great staff and they treat u like a family member. Very much recommend!
• Sergeys22 (10/5): Great hotel for a good price - We are a couple who were staying in this place for a week in mid september and honestly we had a great time and experience in Malia. The hotel itself is decent and devided into 2 seperate buildings which consisted of really nice appartments and a swimmingpool along one of them. In the room you have a small but useful fridge, a teapot and hotplates.The room itself is nice and spacious, there's a safe deposit, air con and also a balcony. The location is one of the best if you stay in Malia, it's only a few minutes walk from the Bar street which is the main road in Malia during your stay, and about 10 minutes walk (on the same street) to the nearest beach. So it's really close to the center but still on the side which allows you to get the quiet moments whenever you may need. The guests of the hotel is mostly teenagers/young people but that's what it is like in all of Malia during the summer so you should have fun and it's an opportunity to meet other people during your stay. But no doubt the best thing about this hotel is the staff, this place managed by a family of brothers Ari and his wife Eleni, and the other brother Dimitri. Had the chance to sit and talk with them, all of them are very warm and welcoming people, smart and lovely. They really make your stay as comfortable as it can and take care of all your needs. Definitely recomend to stay in this place - you come as a guest but leave as part of the family =) Tip: when your'e in the pool, ask one of the brothers to fix you with an "Illusion" drink! legendary!
• tomerd916 (8/5): great for youngsters! - This is totally the best hotel for young people in Malia. The atmosphere is very nice and the stuff are very kind. In most of the hotels in Malia there are lots of problems but in this hotel everybody's happy. The hotel is located about 3-min walk from the bar-street.
• yarono944 (10/5): Recommend!!! - The hosts , Dimitri , Ari and Eleni are so kind people that wrap you with alot of warmth and love , wonderful service , clean and large rooms, excellent food and of course a great cocktails , especially the "Illusion" , that contains several kinds of vodkas in it, that will blow your mind . Also the hotel's location is perfect , 5 minutes from the bar street. I am definitely recommend everyone's going to Malia to stay at this hotel , you'll not be disappointed !
