Jill (4/5): - The place definitely needs cleaning and updating. The carpet was dirty with gum stuck on the carpet. There was garbage behind the night stands. The tb and remote didnt wirk. Lamos were falling apart and one of the lights didn't work. We asked for new pillows and i think they melted in the dryer and w were stuck together. The hot tub was fixed but the water was dirty and slimey with black stuff that stuck on my body. The staff were very friedly and helpful and tried to help fix things. The ice machine was broken. If you have other options, find them. I won't be back
Rachel (6/5): - Small town inn. Was very nice to stay in. Appliances are old and things were not the most clean. But the people were very nice and I loved the cabin feel. If the bedding and appliances were upgraded, and cleanliness was more detailed it would be perfect! A great stay overall.

Told the guy at the desk and went for supper. Came back to the same situation. Room was clean, bed was comfy, but the whole place needs some repairs done.

Brian (2/5): - Indoor pool was closed without notification. Barely any breakfast laid out , one morning no breakfast. (Called and the staff overslept and came out of a hotel room there). They refused to even turn on and have the pancake machine going. Ice machine wasn’t working - was told to come to front desk to get ice - once we did that they refused to give us ice and said to buy it at the gas station . We checked out early due to staff and conditions - and now they won’t contact us back on any refund for the days not stayed .
Lee (4/5): - The ice machine was broken, and no discount was offered. I really wanted a room facing the back so as not to have street noise, it didn’t seem like the hotel was full so I’m not sure why they couldn’t have switched mine.

David (6/5): - Parking was well lit, staff are helpful and friendly, though not often available at the desk. The swimming pool and hot tub are "still" not in service as previous reviews have noted. The breakfast is "skimpy" and could be greatly improved, starting with replacing the defective cereal dispensers that are troublesome to operate and spill the contents. Consider adding orange juice and hard boiled eggs. Consider loosing the bed spreads.
Hannah (4/5): - No ice. Pool and hot tub not working. They were really stretching saying it was a “breakfast buffet.” One door was unavailable so you could only use the one by the desk. My non-smoking room smelled like cigarette smoke. Seemed like they weren’t trying. Giving them 2 stars and not one because there was a bed, a bath room, four walls, and cable. Too expensive for what they offered.

Traci (4/5): - This place has potential. The carpets were very clean. We were not able to use the pool as it was out of order. We could only enter/exit through the front door, as the latch for the side door, which was only held together with duct tape broke off in the locked position, and was not repaired during our stay. Since there are only two or three employees, total (two of which were friendly) there are issues: Mildew on the shower ceiling, inadequate towels in the room, vacuum cleaner laying in hallway. Deferred maintenance everywhere: potholes in driveway, over grown shrubbery completely blocking room windows. In desperate need of updating. This location doesn’t seem to have had any improvements this century, including beds and seating. We would stay here again once improvements have been made as it is conveniently located, easily accessible, and offer many amenities.

Dan (6/5): - Basic hotel. Was clean, beds comfortable. Continental breakfast was minimal. Cold cereal, toast or bagels, Hostess style donut holes and thawed frozen waffles with a single home toaster to heat all. If you’re looking for a comfortable clean hotel at a reasonable price this will work for you.
Melissa (2/5): - The photos displayed on the booking website did not match what the actual hotel is like. We had to switch rooms because the first room was so dirty (not cleaned, no sheets on the bed, blood stains on the mattress and hair/debris). There were also no towels in the room, no soap, and the coffee pot was recently used with coffee still inside. The second room was also dirty; I made the bed myself by getting sheets from staff. The entire place smelled musty and of mold. The hotel room was constantly dank and smelled. Most of the lights were not plugged in, and the plug ins were behind large pieces of furniture. The chairs and couch in the room had stains on them. The carpet had tears in some areas (transition from the bathroom to the room). The doors barely shut; you had to muscle them to close. The shower was stained brown. The ceiling was dusty and looked like it had previous water damage. I will never stay here again.
Layne (6/5): A good location, but needs updating - I went to the Cuyuna area for mountain biking and needed a place to stay. The hotel was a fair price and the person who checked me in was friendly, attentive & was well suited for the job. However, the first room I went to smelled of smoke and the second one smelled of mildew. The bed was comfortable, but if there were other options in the immediate area I would not stay here again.

Room smelled like stale smoke, the entry door to our room stuck and was really hard to open, the sheets did not fit the double beds, looked like single bed sheets were used. The TV did not work as you could not turn up the sound at all. The fee for a dog seemed high at almost $40.00.

Filthy air-conditioner and filter Cracked ceiling coating, dirty,dusty baseboards Adhisive tub-mat disintegrating Old coffee filter in the coffee maker Only bread and rebagged donuts and dry cereal for continental breakfast. Big pothole in entry of lot. Like convenient location,newer carpet, chair, ... Polite man at desk, very inexperienced. Lots of hot water for shower, appliances worked fridge was cold. Several vending machines. Very quiet other than the morning train whistle across the road.
Christina (4/5): - Booked a two queen room and was given a two double and there were no other rooms available. The room smelled extremely strong of cigarette smoke to the point where my nose was plugged and my clothes and hair smelled after leaving. It's supposed to be a non-smoking property. The continental breakfast did not have silverware left and was very picked over even with 2 hours remaining open. Smell is biggest complaint. Staff member was nice at check in.
Felicia (4/5): - There wasn’t a real blanket on the bed it was more like a drape that was as thin as a sheet so we were very cold all night. Half the lightbulbs in the bathroom were missing and you couldn’t see in the shower. The mattress was super firm. The staff was excellent and the rest of the place was super nice.

Charlene (6/5): - Friendly staff & clean but Very musty-moldy smelling, which is not very healthy…I used scented spray which helped for a while, but dissipated quickly so you were breathing unhealthy air. Also privacy curtains did not close completely due to pleat hooks missing. Overall for the & wasn’t bad but wasn’t healthy air to breathe.

bruce (4/5): - Our stay started off with a defective remote control. The week-end staff was unable to figure out a fix to the problem or a replacement. The next day I was looking forward to a soak in the hot tub. Someone forgot to turn the heater on the recently filled spa so the water was cold. The motel looked well occupied but the morning breakfast was meager for that large group of people. The styrofoam coffee cups ran out early along with hot water in the urns. An empty coffee urn soon followed.

Gayle (2/5): - As soon as we entered the room we could smell smoke and mold! There was a fine coating of dust and mold on the bedside furniture, headboard, and behind the furniture. The ironing board even had mold on it! Honestly the most unhealthy place on earth! The bathroom floor wasn't scrubbed, or the bath fixtures. There were urine/feces splatters on the toilet! We couldn't sleep due to the poor quality of the air...it actually made us cough. We spoke to the hotel staff, and they told us to Call Expedia to cancel our res. Expedia did ZERO to help us and told us to contact the hotel!! We were told the hotel manager was in meetings all day and unable to speak with us. We had to leave and stay elsewhere, but still paid for these disgusting rooms. We will NOT be using Expedia in the future.
Gayle (2/5): - NEVER EVER stay here!! As soon as we entered our room, we could smell smoke and mold. There was a fine powder of mold on the bedside table and the bottom of the headboard. They didn't even bother to dust!!! Or wash the bathroom floor or fixtures! Absolutely disgusting. There aren't adequate words! We have reported them to the MN Dept. of Health! (Along with pictures) We couldn't stay here because the mold made us cough. We were unable to get a refund. We were told the manager was in meetings all day.

joyce (2/5): - The room and bathroom were in very poor condition and dirty. You could see plumbing on the wall which they tried to hide with shelving unit. Refrid hummed so loud we had to unplug it. Gentleman was not at desk when arrived had to wait for him. Nor was he there the morning we checked out sign stated "leave your key in basket". 2 plastic panels barely covering plumbing for bathroom. Bad odor in room. Carpet was filthy we left our socks on to walk on floor, they were quite dirty when we took them off. Curtains on window were dirty and very uneven looked like the hems were roughly hand sewn. Pillows were hard and barely 2" thick, blanket had several holes in it. One pillow was so dirty we had to exchange. We were there one night. we travel quite a bit this has to be the worst place we ever stayed at, to pay over $200 per night was a rip-off. Their photos on the web site are VERY outdated and do not truly represent what it looks like!

Pam (2/5): - The place is way overpriced, it was smelly when you walked in our room, the furniture was old and crappy looking, the pillows were flat and gross looking (glad I brought my own!) the ceiling was flaking off above the shower, fingerprints all over the mirror from a small child, the carpets had not been thoroughly cleaned or vacuumed, the ice machine was empty and unplugged, there was no bottled water to buy, (we were told by a bartender in that area not to drink their water) there was hair on the floor in the bathroom, the tub was dirty and the no slip mat in the shower had to be as old as the motel! The ceiling above the bed was disgusting, the lamp shades were old and cracked and the one picture on the wall was old and faded. I could go on and on…….i have pictures to prove it!!!
Tom (4/5): - Seemed like queen fitted sheet on king bed? Television did not work. Carpet seemed crusty. Not a good experience and won't be back. No harm done,but you asked.
Angela (4/5): - We had purchased the suite forb3 nights, bathroom was dirty and the toilet didnt work properly. Bedding was old and disgusting. They need to do a better job. The night manager complained all the time about his job and pay.
Anne (4/5): - Room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. Pillows and bedspread were messy. Toilet didn’t always flush. Breakfast was meager. Room smelled of cigarettes and was humid even with the air conditioning on. Way way too expensive for this room!!
Bruce (2/5): - Once we entered the room we could not leave the room because the locking mechanism malfunctioned. When we wanted to leave the room we had to call the front desk to get assistance (from the hallway) to open the door. If there had been a fire we had no way to exit. Also, the television in the room was broken, did not work properly in that the only thing we could get was voice/sound. The side entrance sidewalk was cracked and uneven and had pulled away from the curb which created a 3" gap which was a trip hazard. The window drapes were held closed with the clips on a pants hanger. In summary, over past decades we have previously stayed at the Country Inn and therefore have seen the building "age" to the point that it needs some intense maintenance, and inspection via the local fire department.
Valerie (6/5): Not so clean - This hotel is rough around the edges and is showing its age. That would not be so bad, but the room was not clean. There was mold in the shower, drips and water marks on the bedside tables. The bed looked like someone had slept on it after it was made. When I brought it to management's attention, the manager expressed his dissatisfaction with the cleaner and the cleaner was defensive.
Alycia (6/5): Ok if you’re not fancy - My room was ok, the shower head didn’t fit into the fixture so I had to hold it while showering. The bed wasn’t super comfortable and there were crumbs on the floor around the bed. The breakfast was not great and the coffee was like coffee flavored water. I was thankful for the Holiday and coffee shop in town. Overall, it was just fine for my solo trip as I spent the majority of my time out enjoying the scenery of the state park.

Yvonne (6/5): You get what you pay for - The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. There were only 3 pillows which were extremely flat. The fitted sheet did not cover the entire mattress. There was no blanket on the bed.The sink did not drain at all. The breakfast is minimal, cereal, pancakes and yogurt.

The building needs many repairs!

Susan (6/5): not a great experience - I was disappointed, after reading rave reviews. The hotel is desperately in need of upgrades. My room could be described as shabby. The furniture had clearly not been dusted in a while. SInce the ice machine was broken, I had to get it from the front desk. The continental breakfast was okay. The two employees with whom I dealt, the front desk attendant and a very accommodating young man who helped me to get into my room because my key card didn't work, couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. I was very surprised that a sign on the door in my room said that, due to COVID protocols, the room would not be cleaned, the beds re-made, the trash emptied, or towels replaced unless I made specific requests. Are we not over COVID at this point? The location was convenient to my travel plans, but I will not be recommending this hotel to others.

Erick (4/5): - Not what we expected at all. Hotel personnel was already using the room that was available before our group showed up. He had a dog staying in the room, room smelled like Maryjane and toilet did not work.
Betty (6/5): - Upon arrival we were told the room was not ready. We waited in the lobby and watched as people came in. Some were registered and the front desk could not find their reservation. One family came in and had kids with swim suits ready to use the pool, but the pool was closed. The website shows the breakfast area. In the morning when my husband went down to get breakfast, there was no breakfast. These are the things that should be made clear on the website. Do portray that you have amenities that are not there. This property is in decline.

Amy (4/5): Poor conditions - Conditions were poor. Mold with loose tile in the bathroom. Curtain rods and curtain's were not on the window. Hard to get the door shut. Room was damp. Hallways smelled like pot.
Jean (2/5): - We stayed one night and were very disappointed with cleanliness of the rooms. When checking in, the staff said they had people the quit earlier in the day. When we checked into the room, the bathroom was disgusting, hair on the floor, toothpaste on the faucet and I am not sure when the bathtub was cleaned last. We had to wait until 10:30 to get towels. We didn't shower due to the scum build up in the tub.
Kara (2/5): - When I went into the room they gave me, the beds were stripped but not made, the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned, towels hadn’t been changed, a dirty towel was on the counter, and no one was in sight. I went to the front desk to report this, the receptionist wasn’t able to give me a different room and instead went up to make the beds herself. If I had had any other option, I would have stayed elsewhere. The staff I saw were kind but overwhelmed because the place is clearly understaffed. Plus the pool was closed for maintenance the whole time.

Breakfast ended at 9am should be 10 am on the weekends. Staff overworked and underpaid. Question who and what type of people are running the place. Seems uneasy and unsafe.
Brian (2/5): - I had to call and wake up staff to check in, the far door didn’t open for me, the room was disgusting. The filters in the climate control were plugged, the room smelled moldy, all of the amenities for the room were crammed in the drawers of the dressor. I will not shower here and the toulet? was gross. I will probably be gone before checkout because I feel like I need to go somewhere else to shower and feel clean. There was also no ice in the ice machine.
CASANDRA (2/5): - The property was misslead with ammenities including but not limited to: no pool availability, broken ice machine, no additinal towels, pillows nor blankets when asked 3 time. Door would not shut with out pushing/kicking it and room smelt so bad like marijuana and cigarettes, I had to use bathroom spray I had with in the room. TV had roughly 5-10 channels otherwise we had to puchase a sport channel. Continential breakfast was cold cereal and toast/mcmuffins as pancake machine was down. Addiotnally no yogert or breakfast bars even offered. I would NEVER stay nor recommention hotel!

Heather (2/5): Horrible! - I should have researched this hotel more and looked at reviews! It was so horrible. I honestly have never seen a hotel in that bad of condition in that bed of service! Super dirty. The lady at the front desk said they had just fired all of their housekeepers. The pool was closed. Honestly, we stayed in our room about 30 minutes before deciding to just leave and get a different hotel which was the best decision we've ever made! I doubt we'll get refunded because the lady at the front desk said that she couldn't issue them but going through this site they are trying to work at getting us a refund but either way it wasn't worth staying!
Chelsea (2/5): - Door was locked when I showed up and I rang the door bell 3 times and no one came….. it’s a long story but I didn’t feel it was a safe place to stay and I wasn’t sure if there were random homeless people running this place because they were sleeping in rooms and one didn’t know what he was doing! I checked in saw my room and promptly left.
Christian (2/5): Don’t stay here. - No water in pool, sheets threadbare, garbage under bed, odor in room. Our family had 4 rooms for two nights. One couple with 2 children refused to stay second night, one couple refused to check in. The others reluctantly stayed for lack of options in the area. Reservation was labeled fully refundable but fine print indicated that’s essentially not true. Dingy interior lacking needed upgrades. I’m embarrassed that I suggested this motel to house overflow members of our nearby family reunion

Karla (2/5): - There was garbage under the bed, the sheets were dirty and threadbare (went a store and bought sheets to put on the bed), the bathroom counter had not been cleaned, there was dust in every corner and a hole in the bathroom wall and no water in the pool. We reserved two rooms and only used one the first night due to changes in plans. We booked a different hotel for the second night. The assistant at the desk stated that an investor had purchased the hotel two years ago, cut staff and there is no budget for supplies and upkeep.
Verified traveler (6/5): Good for sleeping - We were in town for a family reunion.The room was comfortable, bed was good not too soft or hard. Continental breakfast could have been better. The pancake machine didn't work. All that was available was donuts, toast, yogurt and cereal and coffee. Would like to have seen some oatmeal packets, tea bags and maybe hard boiled eggs. The pool was also closed for maintenance.
Alan (6/5): - The hotel was a bit rundown, and is very out dated. There was hair on the floor, counters and on the toilet... not sure it was cleaned. There was old coffee bags int the coffee maker, a crumbled up bed cover in the drawer., and a dirty tub mat I was a little disappointed in the overall condition of our room.
Michelle (4/5): - We chose this property due to their reasonable pricing, pool and breakfast. We got no breakfast because the machines were broken, no pool or hot tub down due to maintenance and the room had a strange odor. To top it off the ice bucket had left over water in it and what looked like mold on the lid. Not impressed.
Jessica (2/5): - First of all we checked in and found out the pool was closed for maintenance. I was one of the reasons we stayed in this particular hotel. Maybe send out an email to let customers know the pool is going to be unavailable for certain dates. Then we found our two rooms both had the doors opened. One of the rooms had no toilet paper or Kleenex That evening I went to was my face to find out we had no washcloths in our room. It was after 10 and went to the front desk and asked to get some and the man said they were being washed and I could come back in 45 minutes to get some. Lastly the breakfast was terrible pancake machine was broken and nothing was restocked.
Mary Jo (6/5): Great location for us, but needs attention! - When we checked in, we were given a room key and when we got into the room, we found there were already people occupying that room. Went back to the desk and the clerk gave us another room which had been cleaned and was unoccupied. The pool and hot tub were "out of order". The room had not been cleaned well. There were crumbs on surfaces and floor. The breakfast was virtually nonexistent. A few tiny powdered sugar donuts, a few pieces of bread to make toast, a few yogurt cups in the refrigerator, and some cold cereal and milk. There was fresh coffee, though!
Nancy (6/5): - This is an old motel and could use a lot of updating. Some water leakage in the eating area that caused a musty smell. Our room was okay for the price. The two ladies that waited on me were very helpful and nice. Their continental breakfast was limited.

Janice (4/5): Door doesn’t open - I made the reservation about a month before for a room with two Queen beds. I called AND texted them that it needed to be on first floor as one of us was disabled and can’t do stairs. They didn’t have a room when we got there. We took a king size bed at the end of the hall. Too far for her to walk. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut, the toilet was wobbly and we couldn’t get the door opened to our room from the inside. Had to have front desk come and open our room so we could get out. Shower curtain was moldy. I’ve stayed here before. Wasn’t happy this time.
Chad (2/5): - Started by having to go look at my assigned room to see if it was ready. Walked in to a horrible smell, most lightbulbs out or flickering. Spots on one of the beds sheets, asked for clean linens to put on myself. No remote, signal or channels for my kids to watch any tv. Spent way too much for this disaster of a place. Not happy!
