Guest Reviews
- Amy (10/5): My favorite hotel in Marquette - I am from Marquette. I love this building and have memories of it as the old Heritage House Hotel. The location is the best, the staff are amazing and went above and beyond for me this trip. My father passed away, and I was an exhausted wreck. They were wonderful. I love this place The staff, location, history, ambiance, top floor cocktail lounge is fantastic, and of course the view of Lake Superior.
- Alina (9/5): - Fantastic hotel in a great location. Very comfortable, clean and pleasant.
- alicerD9467GC (10/5): Great stay & location! - Anytime we have the chance to stay here it’s always a good stay. The location is perfect close to our daughter’s house. The room is cozy and the views are beautiful. The eclectic atmosphere of the hotel is welcoming and everyone from the front desk, to the restaurant employees, to the crows nest bar with views - just adds so much value - we keep coming back! The Spring sale was such a great incentive to book this weekend. We will definitely be back!
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Frank (7/5): We probably would not stay at the Landmark again ... but it was nice once. - This property was in a convenient location for our granddaughter's graduation from NMU. It was rather expensive ... and there was no breakfast.

- charlesaG6446DX (4/5): An upscale motel feel - Some of the staff felt cold and unwelcoming, and it seemed as though requests or placing an order were an inconvenience to their day. The window in my room did not latch properly, causing constant noise. The walls are very thin, and I could clearly hear other guests through them. Overall, I do not feel the added cost was worth the stay.
- Wolf (10/5): -
- Joel (10/5): Wonderful stay in Marquette! - The rooms were very spacious. I appreciated the staff. The hotel was quiet and accommodating.
- Christopher (7/5): Staff in weather stripping make all the difference. - Friendly staff the rooms on the 6th floor have weather stripping on the doors and it was extremely quiet. The rooms have the fifth floor did not have weather stripping and we're not as quiet.
- Francie561 (8/5): Loved it except for the ridiculously short toilets - Overall it has been lovely. Both bars were fun.our bed was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is the toilet that is the same size as the ones in the preschool at church😵💫I’m 70 years old, have 4 joint replacements, and it is very difficult to get on and off. Please install taller toilets, or grab bars.
- Amy (8/5): -
- Brooke (9/5): - Everyone was very friendly and helpful. No where to park in the parking lot for the hotel and being winter couldn’t park on the streets.
- Ann (10/5): - The hotel was perfect--service, location, room, EVERYTHING! n.a.
- Veach (7/5): - Location N/a

- Amy (10/5): Love the Landmark! Best hotel in Marquette. - I grew up in Marquette and love to stay at the Landmark. I remember going to lunch at the original Crow’s Best restaurant with my friend and her Mom. It’s a beautiful, historic piece of Marquette’s history and brings back great memories. I love the food in the restaurant, and the cocktail lounge is fabulous. So much nicer than a sterile hotel setting, and I can walk all over downtown and my old haunts from the front door. A few things I would recommend would be a cash machine on site, automatically opening entry doors to make getting a luggage cart in and out easier, and a QR code system to make tipping the staff easier.
- Amy (10/5): -
- Andrea (10/5): - always have a great stay at the Landmark!
- 80237travel (4/5): Marquette's Landmark Inn is a landmark in name only - I was at the Landmark Inn in Marquette with colleagues while attending a series of events and, over the course of about a day and a half, ate in the bar/restaurant and attended a reception.
By local standards, the Landmark is considered one of the better hotels in Marquette. That’s partly because the city’s lodging options are mostly lower-tier and mid-level chain hotels with many of them located off the highway on the outskirts of town. The Landmark Inn’s downtown location and historic character set it apart, at least on paper.
Amenities and services are very limited. Forget the nostalgia and historic architecture. The overall experience is on par with a typical Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express, albeit with the addition of a top-floor bar and a lobby-level bar/restaurant.
Even those amenities fall short of expectations. The lobby bar/restaurant isn’t open for lunch on weekdays, even during periods of high occupancy and major events, which seems like a missed opportunity. When it is open, the food is typical bar food — nothing memorable and not really in keeping with what the setting could support.
Our reception highlighted some of the hotel’s operational shortcomings. The event was held in a basement space. Service was nonexistent. The bar was supposed to be a cash bar, but the hotel didn’t have enough staff to operate it, so the reception proceeded without one. Buffet items arrived late, basics like soda were not consistently replenished, and there was no staff clearing tables, which left the room looking and feeling neglected.
All of this is frustrating because the Landmark Inn could be an elegant, old-school hotel. With better management, staffing, and attention to detail, it could be something special. As it stands, however, the Landmark Inn is a landmark in name only. The experience doesn’t justify the price. Save your money and book a chain hotel instead.
- Vnelson69 (10/5): Re-visit to Marquette MI - Every visit to Marquette we stay at the Landmark. It’s a beautiful historic hotel, walking distance to Lake Superior, restaurants and shopping. Our room was very well appointed with a comfortable bed and GREAT pillows.
- MIDEEZEE (10/5): I highly recommend this place, old world charm is nice. - A very nice, clean place. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They have a great bar/ restaurant. It is super close to downtown as well, all within walking distance to some great spots. I would definitely stay there again. Ask about the haunted room.
- James (10/5): I would look forward to staying again. - Capacious room tastefully appointed, two excellent bars on premise, great views, friendly staff. There was only one side table next to the bed, not two, so only one reading light as well.
- R6366ULmichelleh (10/5): Sunrise supreme - Came here for my birthday room 502 did not disappoint..the sunrise was amazing the bed was super comfortable and everyone was super nice and friendly .
- William (7/5): -
- Jeff (10/5): Perfection. We will be back - We loved it all. We at there and it was amazing. Service, location and room were all great. My wife was in love. Our room had a Great view and was super comfy
- Joel (4/5): Stupid expensive, not worth it. - Location is good The amount of money for what you get is stupid high. Getting charged a tourism fee is absolutely deviant and back stabbing. We or any of our family will never stay there again. Your pictures are very deceptive, there's literally one side that is anything like what you see on line.
- Jared (4/5): Disappointed - Hotel would not make the beds or provide clean towels over our 3 night stay. The front desk told us they would provide these services on request, then we asked and they said they couldn't as we were one of 47 rooms.
- Joseph (9/5): Need breakfast in hotel - No breakfast in hotel Having breakfast in hotel would be an improvement
- Judy (9/5): -
- Mary (4/5): Would never stay there again. So disappointed. - Location Dingy room with only 2 bedside lamps, hard to see in suitcase or read information. Shower had hairs on the and bathroom floor debris. Toilet way too low to the floor. No grab bars in bathroom.
- Timothy (10/5): Nice people. Clean room. Great bar. - Clean Snow removal needs attention.
- Brooke (10/5): -
- Junichi (10/5): -
- Carole (9/5): -
- Q2886UCkathyp (10/5): Fantastic place to stay - We LOVED our stay at the Landmark Inn! It’s in an ideal location. The inn is beautiful with gorgeous views out of the windows. The staff are excellent- friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend this business
- I337PNrachelc (10/5): Perfect getaway in Marquette- Five out of Five - Had a wonderful stay with my boyfriend. The hotel is beautifully decorated for the holidays, and the King Suites were well worth the extra splurge for the upgrade. I had an excellent steak salad at the Northland Pub, followed by a nightcap in the Crow’s Nest cocktail lounge—the best Old Fashioned and espresso martini! The lounge is on the 6th floor and has some of the most amazing views I’ve seen in Marquette. Hotel is centrally located Downtown Marquette with Lake Superior just out the back door. Staff was friendly & helpful.
- Kassey (8/5): It was great - Gorgeous
- Manish (8/5): -
- Amber (6/5): Great location. Comfy bed. Dirty bathroom - Bathroom needs a deep clean! Dirty bathroom
- bomanb2019 (6/5): Wouldn't stay here again. - Location was great! Atmosphere is very diverse. Room was spacious, bed comfortable. Bathroom needs a deep clean. Toilet base and around the floor was dirty, shower needs a good scrub down all around. Hair and soap scum on the vanity. The only noise was door slamming heavily! Service, if you need anything you have to go to the front desk to get it, to go silverware coffee and ice water are available. No daily room cleaning, no fresh towels or trash emptied during your stay.
- JENNIFER (9/5): - Landmark hotel is a favorite location to stay at when we are in Marquette. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are unique. Nothing
- Lamrouex (8/5): - Nice and clean. Flat Pillows. No channel guide on tv.
- Amanda (10/5): -
- Karen (8/5): Fun home base for exploring Marquette. - Love this vintage hotel right in town. Kind of weird that they had both elevators down simultaneously while we were there.
- 125MarkW (10/5): Historic, quiet hotel in great location - An historic hotel, updated with quiet, clean and comfortable rooms. The staff are very friendly and eager to help. Restaurants are an easy walk or quick drive away.
- Kerry (8/5): Comfy room, lovely hotel, don't waste your money upgrading to a lake view - Lovely hotel, great location for Marquette food & shopping, comfy bed - really quirky individual decor we loved it Only think was we paid quite a lot for a lake view room and you can only just see the lake - mostly what we saw was the fire escape for the building and the car park...you can barely see the lake over all that and the trees!
- Bill (10/5): - The location of as perfect. Lots of restaurants within walking distance.
- P194VHtomw (6/5): Good hotel, but does not adhere to the amenities listed. Staff is pretty poor customer service - Amenities listed makes it sound like there is a nice restaurant. Nope! Just a bar with bar food. The rooms are very nice, but the hotel needs some work, especially the exterior and lobby.
Probably wouldn’t stay here again
- Sean (10/5): - Charming and nostalgic hotel and I enjoyed the old pictures of the place from the past that were in the room. Enjoyed a nice drink at The Crow's Nest and had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at the hotel.
- Renee (10/5): - Love the old feel of this downtown hotel. The room was nice. Comfortable bed and sheets. The front desk needs help. Long wait to check in.
- Doris (10/5): Beautiful historic inn right in downtown Marquette. Bar was cozy and great food. - Beautiful historic inn with great food and cozy bar
- Jim (6/5): Unique spooky fun retreat. - Great history and mystery, the staff were quite knowledgeable about the haunted past of the hotel. Only one elevator was working while we were there which isn’t what you would expect from an experienced hotel.
- Norsted (9/5): Good choice in Marquette. - Location, updated room Crow’s Nest lounge out of date.
- Richard (4/5): - Room had a dirty towel under the vanity. Shower floor looked unclean, both it and the caulk discolored. Lots of dings, chips in the furniture. Paint in the room definitely needs a refresh. Three bucks for water. No breakfast, neither of the free or paid kind. Have stayed here quite a bit over the years, probably off the list now.
- Celeste (6/5): Just ok - The room was clean, but they said that housekeeping wouldnt come in on the 2nd day. If you were out of anything, you were told to go down to the front desk and get it.
- Florian (6/5): - The hotel is centrally located in Marquette. Walkable to restaurants, bars and shops. The hotel while nicely maintained, could use some deep cleaning of the shower (moldy caulking). The room is nicely decorated but is missing storage for clothes when staying longer with 2 people.
The hotel is not full service, so you need to ask for fresh towels, soap, toilet paper etc.
The hotel staff (1-2 behind the front desk) helps you only with the most basic tasks as checking in / out … not very customer service centric.
- timgJ471DX (4/5): Overall a big Letdown - Stayed the week of labor day. Front desk staff was off putting and pretentious. The bar around the corner in the hotel lower level was mediocre and overpriced. Our toilet was literally leaking onto the floor in our room and the front desk gave us towels to soak up the sewer water. Saying there wasn't any maintenance people around to fix it at the moment.
When I asked for a discount for the inconvenience they basically laughed in my face and said “ no and no … theres nowhere else move you either bc we are booked “ I pressed and they offered us a new room with zero view and no partial refund for the difference of room quality. Absolutely unacceptable for a 350$ a night room.
We will never and i mean never…. be back to this hotel. Stay elsewhere.
- Debra (10/5): Will Return - This was a charming hotel with great lake views even though it was foggy during our visit. The onsite Northland Pub serves excellent old fashioneds and smash burgers. Location is within easy walking distances to local breweries and downtown.
- clarkmg (4/5): Sweet Historic Building Showing Some Wear Since Last Renovated - While this is a beautiful historic building, I wouldn’t opt to stay again. The photos on the website were much more pristine than the actual place was, once I was there in person. The hotel room I stayed in (508) needed work…mold and stained grout in the shower, really bad build up of crud between the sliding glass shower doors, things like lampshades were cracked from age. Wallpaper in places was worn or torn. Instead of installing a shoe mold when floors were most recently replaced, a caulk of some sort was used and was very grimy from accumulated dust and dirt build-up. The mini refrigerator had ages worth of frost build up in the freezer, which kept the refrigerator from keeping cool properly. The bed was comfortable and bedding was of high quality. The staff was just mediocre, in my opinion. This hotel certainly has great beauty and could be amazing, but I found it to not be close to what I was expecting.
- sarah (6/5): - No lobby coffee. I know sounds petty but there should be coffee and amenities in the lobby. It’s not a cheap hotel
- Tom (6/5): - Very classy.
- Beverley (7/5): -
- Cherilyn (8/5): - The hotel was lovely. I liked the historic vibe of the architecture and the lobby . The check-in process was a little rocky. While I was checking in a group of airline staff came in behind me and the person at the front desk immediately began helping them instead of finishing my check-in. Then while they were handing me my keys, they told me that they had to let me know about a bad smell that had been reported from other guests staying on the second floor and they had to notify me because they had also put me on the second floor. So I asked if there were any other rooms available. Ultimately, they gave me new keys to a room on the fourth floor. The room and the floor and the stay were all just fine. I only stayed one night and did not have a chance to take advantage of the restaurant or the bar.
- John (6/5): - Poor maintene. nce of room, no one in hotel to correct problems. Location great everything else poor. No restaurant and told when checking in that rooms should not be made up or cleaned in multi day stay. I would not go back to this hotel.
- Sexton (8/5): Cool historical building - It’s proximity to downtown. The crows nest was a nice experience for an after dinner drink Limited hours at the restaurant. The theme room we were in could have had better decor and artwork
- sarahmcclelland8890 (6/5): Higher priced hotel with limited amenities. - Historic hotel in great location but overpriced for the quality of service and amenities. Broken toilet seat, wobbly refrigerator, no complimentary water. Expected more given the posted reviews.
- Simon (4/5): Landmark by name, but not worth seeing! - Check-in was slow and unwelcoming. Room didn’t feel as though it had been cleaned properly with hairs in the shower. Had to practically beg for the use of an umbrella despite there being heavy rainfall outside. The barman on the top floor bar was laughably hostile and seemingly hated his job. Place feels like it needs a good clean up and change of management. Not acceptable at the prices they charge.
- David (10/5): - The Landmark is an older hotel, but it is well maintained. Staff were all very friendly and ready and willing to help and answer questions.
- Marina (9/5): -
- Joseph (6/5): - The hotel is dark and a bit dingy. One of two elevators was inoperable, and there were no apparent efforts underway to repair it.
- R7075JSlisad (2/5): Dissatisfied with the condition of the room and bathroom. Too expensive accommodations for poor cleanliness. - We stayed at the Landmark Hotel in Marquette Michigan in August 2025. Upon awakening in the morning, I found the shower to be completely dirty and grout was covered in mold. I did not shower, since we were headed home. Prior to checking out, I emailed and advised the front desk of the situation and requested a manager call me (no manager on duty at that time and desk reception was unable to discuss). Since I had not heard from anyone after returning home, I reached out the Landmark again and left my contact information. I still have not been contacted by the Landmark and its been over a week.
- Mischelle (10/5): - Excellent rooms, beautiful hotel, nice walking to shops, dining. Professional, kind staff. A very nice stay.
- Karin (9/5): -
- Jennifer (6/5): - No one at front desk when arrived. Lobby in disarray and felt dirty. No greeter at restaurant. Many loud locals in restaurant. Moldy shower.
- Laura (10/5): We’ll return! - Wonderfully located near the farmers market and the harbor — delightful town, comfortable room. Fix your second elevator — that’s it.
- P4947VQjot (10/5): Excellent Stay at the Landmark Inn - The Landmark Inn is beautiful with a beautiful view. There's a fun cocktail lounge and a great restaurant/pub inside the Inn. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the Landmark Inn.
- Robin (8/5): Quick get away to the UP. Location was key factor. Cute crows nest bar. Service a little slow. - Location. Historical Only one working elevator. Front desk personnel nice but could be more professional.
- 26bethl (10/5): Lovely town , lovely hotel - We had a great stay at the Landmark hotel. The room was well appointed and had a lot of room. It was clean, bedding was nice as were the towels. The king bed was very comfortable. Air conditioning did the job as it was very humid the days we were there. We went to the upstairs bar and had a cocktail and a beautiful view of the lake. I loved that it was walkable to both down town and 3rd Ave. both had shops bars and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again!
- Aaron (8/5): -
- Lauralieu (10/5): A lovely, convenient place to stay - Four of us rented the penthouse suite for three nights. It was the perfect place to relax together, sit by the fire or play cards. It's a very clean, roomy space with comfortable beds and chairs and great views of the surrounding city, lake and hills.
The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel's location is perfect. Just walk out the door and you're downtown near lots of shopping.
The hotel does show a little wear here and there, especially some of the wood surfaces and the kitchen was minimally stocked. It could use more mugs, paper towels and supplies to hand wash dishes so you don't need to run the dishwasher with just four mugs in it.
- Matt (10/5): - Great Location
- william (4/5): - Die Bar oben war ganz nett… Preis absolute Frechheit.
- Peggy (10/5): - The interior style is beautiful, and the hotel has nice ambiance.
- Matt (2/5): - I literally had to leave because I asked for fresh towels after 3 nights and was told "well you can come see the manager in the morning and she can explain our policy"... I literally went upstairs and checked-out immediately. Unrelated, the room was humid as hell, the wedding the first night was shaking the walls, and the A/C unit was disturbingly loud.
- Willett (8/5): Good stay. Room was clean. Comfortable beds. - The Pub in the Landmark. The bar on the 6th floor had a nice view. The WiFi was spotty at best. Most of the time we could not use…our room was on the 4th floor.
- 568kcm (4/5): Not worth the money…. Tired and needs maintenance - Very tired hotel. Furnishings in room very sparse. No carpet, no rugs, no comfy seating area. Wallpaper was peeling and tired. I lamp was broken. No electrical plug in the bathroom. 2 towels versus a healthy supply for 2 people.
Very disappointed for a $400 a night hotel.
Incomplete coffee service bar in room, again for $400 a night I expect all the details to be attended to.
- McCollum (10/5): Super cute pet friendly hotel in an excellent location, downtown Marquette. - Property location and atmosphere were excellent. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Wait times for the elevator could be a bit long depending on the time of day.
- Rhonda (10/5): -
- Pooja (10/5): - Nice
- Richard (6/5): - It is cool Art-Deco property, intriguing and certainly nice. I wished that hotel had breakfasts option. Also, rooms are not dark enough to sleep. The windows are huge, the curtains do not cover it entirely.
- David (6/5): - Terrible beds. No housekeeping in 3 days
- Katherine (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Could be better. - There are two elevators but only one works and it is very slow. Staff was nont very friendly. Room had not drawers to put clothes in. Two beds crammed into a room that was big enough for one.
Great location and view.
- Blaire (10/5): - The beds were very comfortable. I didn’t eat at the restaurant, but we did have cocktails at the lounge on the 6th floor. The drinks were great, and the bartenders were wonderful.
- Elena (10/5): - It's a beautiful historic hotel in a very walkable area at the heart of the city and steps away from the waterfront. Great views of Lake Superior and the city. Rooms, lobby, and Crow Nest bar have very pleasant early 19th century feel
- Linda (10/5): We especially appreciated the quietness of the room at night...no fancy room airconditioner to hear! -
- elygreenstone (2/5): Don't believe the photos -- it doesn't look like that anymore. - This is the most duped I've ever felt when checking into a hotel. The Landmark Inn was written up in the NYT and receives a 4.3 on Trip Advisor. We paid nearly $800 for two nights, fooled into splurging by the positive reviews and the very misleading photographs. The reality is that The Landmark Inn is a dump. Peeling old wallpaper, mold in the shower grouting, ancient heating and plumbing, and a pervasive odor of air freshener trying in vain to cover up the smell of age and decay. The room itself was ridiculous -- an open "closet" with hangars, microwave, fridge, and ironing board placed haphazardly in front of a window. Bizarre and damaged artwork hung in odd places. I'm all for quirky charm, but the Landmark is just woefully out of date. Loved Marquette. Will stay somewhere else next time.
