Guest Reviews
- O'Reilly (8/5): 5 nights in Melaka - The room was spacious and well appointed. The location was great for exploring Melaka. The staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was ample and flavoursome. The room we stayed in was at the front of the hotel and was subject to road noise.
- Carolyn Bernadette (10/5): Lovely hotel for quiet and comfortable stay. - The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The property location is good and within walking distance to various attractions. The towels were a bit thin and old. As the room is big, the air con was not strong enough.

- Veronique (10/5): I would definitely come back. The location is perfect and calm. The room are beautiful and the staff is nice. - Beautiful old Peranakan house . Big rooms, all different and with nice vintage furniture. Spacious and Brand new bathroom Nothing, frankly I excellent value for money
- Michael (10/5): Sehr schönes Hotel in Top-Lage - Tolle riesige Suite mit modernem Badezimmer Frühstück ist ausbaufähig
- winston (7/5): - Excellent old charm vibes Told a towel missing, obviously not!
- Emma (10/5): Great boutique hotel in an excellent location for exploring Melaka -
- Liu (9/5): Good stay and nice memories ! - The staff are very warm, and friendly. Room is clean with peranakan style. The location is nearly perfect. Some details could be further improved. E.g., the air-con outdoor compressor units can be mounted on elastic (rubber) feet, so as to mitigate the noise from them.
- Siew Kee (9/5): - Beautiful old mansion. I got the room on the 3rd floor with a balcony. Clean, spacious and quiet. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice local breakfast. Great location, close to the action but still quiet. Walking distance to Jonker street and eateries. Towel is old.
- Fabrice (5/5): -
- woo (4/5): cant sleep well - Staffs are friendly and helpful and location is good and near to jonker street room is facing main road and caused too noisy
- Peter (9/5): A great stay. - Beautiful traditional Chinese house with all the furniture to match. Like a stay in history. Extra large room, friendly staff. Breakfast (English) good but basic, the only slight criticism.
Excellent location in old city with many excellent eating places close by. More choice for English breakfast.
- Monika (9/5): -
- Francesco (10/5): - The hotel is beautiful, the room was very spacious. The staff is very welcoming and try to do his best to serve you. The location is perfect, near jonker walk. Breakfast very good.
A perfect stay Anything
- Wan Ying (7/5): Clean and comfy. Operational and service need some improvement. - I like the location and the cleanliness of the hotel. I didn't like some of the operation of the hotel. A simple thing eg: mineral water. They only provide a small bottle of mineral water for us. When we asked for more, they told us that we are supposed to pay extra for it.
They should also provide umbrellas for customers to use in case of rainy days.
- Thomas (3/5): -
- Karen (8/5): Go for it !
Vraiment top. Rien à signaler
Tout était très bien
- Shin (7/5): -
- Farhanah (9/5): Lovely stay overall. - The hotel is a cozy boutique property with a great location. Facilities were well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Would happily stay here again. Nothing
- Sugar- Taku (8/5): Cute hotel just behind Jonker street - Location, interior Not so bad, yet the breakfast spread was just so so level.
- Pieter (9/5): Very nice place - Excellent location and beautiful building Can be noisy because of they rickshaws outside
- SHEN YUAN (10/5): - Nice environment with big room No lift
- celine (10/5): Authentique , merveilleusement colonial !
- Indrani (8/5): We had a good stay - Rooms were clean and spacious
Breakfast buffet had a quite a lot if options Parking was a bit far
- Indrani (8/5): I had an excellent stay there with my family - The rooms were spacious Parking was a but far away
- Bonnie (10/5): Great heritage property with great staff! - We loved our room and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were kind and helpful, and always had a smile on their faces. The location was excellent, quiet but close to everything. Nothing

2. Staff
3. Peaceful 1. The room
- IZUMI (10/5): -
- Juliet (8/5): -
Rien
- Li Yee (9/5): Overall satisfied and will come again. - Everything, room, service, breakfast, and strategy. Children run and walk foot step very loud.
- Nor Izura (10/5): Comfortable rooms, good food, and a very pleasant stay overall. - The room is spacious. The food is good too.
- Jeremy (8/5): Fabulous characterful hotel in a great location - Hotel was full of character - a fantastic & lovingly restored building throughout - really well located in the heart of Malacca. Staff were very friendly & helpful, room was clean & spacious, and the breakfast was good too. The blinds in the room looked good but weren’t great at keeping the light out from the inner courtyard lights - some proper blackout blinds or curtains would be a good addition.
- SATHIA (9/5): Lots of museums. Learnt about the history and culture. Very quiet place for a weekend - The place reflected the historical nature of the place.
- PI CHU (8/5): -
- Jing (10/5): - Traditional peranakan house
- patrickdurrant (8/5): - Beautiful old mansion, large rooms, very peaceful, everything you need and short walk to all the best local attractions.
- CanBritBev (7/5): Nice but be aware of inner rooms - Great location near to Jonkers Walk. Breakfast was nice but limited. Staff were friendly. Room was an inner room which had a window over one of the staircases. The light remained on all night and the louvred blinds they had still let in light so the sleep was not restful. The room was large and well furnished and overall comfortable.
- Mr M to you. (7/5): A delightful boutique hotel. - The hotel is close to all the main attractions in central Malacca. My room was large, comfortable and well-appointed - although without any direct external light access or window. Breakfast was simple but adequate.
- Marilyn (10/5): Wonderful, comfortable stay. - Room was very spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. It faced onto the main road but there was little noise. Bed and pillows were very comfortable and plenty of amenities. We had a good local breakfast and all the staff were pleasant and helpful. It is in the old town so most of the sights to see were within walking distance. Plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops nearby.
The building itself was amazing and plenty of places to wander around and relax. 24 hour security was there. All staff were pleasant and helpful As it had no lift, perhaps it should have mentioned that the rooms were upstairs.

- Bimmaljit (8/5): Wonderful gateway stay - I got the room on the 3rd floor..Really loved it ..Big room with a king bed..The sitting area in the room was really nice ..Deco of the room was really outstanding..Bathroom was huge ..Nothing to complain about in that room..Everything was perfect..Staff was very polite, friendly and so helpful.
Has a person who doesn't normally have breadfast..This is one of the best breadfast I had ..The breadfast was so delicious 😋 and outstanding..It made me feel at home during my young days ..Everything was perfect from the porridge, spaghetti , nasi Lemak with the chicken rending, Bihun and lots more . Enjoyed every moment of my breadfast..Only thing I feel maybe a coffee machine could be installed so guest can get a latte for breadfast will be great .. Nothing not to like , everything was great..
- Maliga (1/5): Bad experience n nothing great to share Pictures - Location No lift for Elderly people
No window Room ,Its like in prison
No covered parking
For 11 yrs forced to pay as v were staying in Suite Room .. Y not FOC
Breakfast not much choices
Not Hot water neither tea Coffee on buffet as v need keep asking which trouble some as lack of manpower
Overrall as A Malaysian tour Guide I m deep dissastified n WILL Never support ur hotel to My guest in future
- Katherine (8/5): -
- Mellissa (7/5): - The staff typically responded via WhatsApp and were very efficient The bathroom blinds were broken and the staff said it’s meant to be that way. But blinds were inwards meaning that you could see from outside in, not the other way which is what is meant to be.
- Gregory (8/5): Comfortable old world charm handy to Jonker Street. - It's old world charm and ambience. A great breakfast each morning was a clincher. We had a front room initially, but proved noisy at night as my wife couldn't sleep. We requested a quieter room which was smaller but quieter.
- Tomoko (9/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): A very interesting hotel to stay in a great location -
- Nurlita Ayu (9/5): Lovely but with some key important improvements to be made such as making rooms sound proof, upgrade floor boards and im - The cleanliness and comfort and heritage value. The noise and the breakfast selection was lacking.
- Joaane Yee Ling (8/5): Just hope can stay long abit - Definitely like it with small sofa bed and big bathroom Just abit noisy outside in the morning when ppl checking out the luggage and cleaning sound can be heard from the room, overall is comfortable
- Marsila (10/5): -
- Emmy (9/5): Convenient and different baba nyonya vibes. - Perfect location within walking distance to Jonker Walk.
Love the baba nyonya vibes and the vintage windows of the room. Room is spacious and also love the private parking facilities within the hotel distance.
Will definitely return here again. The room located at the highest level where staircase used. Don't bring airport luggage, bring backpack instead.
- Keng seng (8/5): - The decor and the detailed history about the personal house turned hotel. Very comfortable, friendly and helpful staffs The breakfast spread can use a little more local touch to it.
Not very soundproof
- Naidu (9/5): It’s a great stay, would love to come back - Clean and quiet
Attentiveness of staffs
Locations
Nice local breakfast Floors as you walk around the room, kinda noise
Can clearly hear others walking above your room
- Carin (9/5): Beautiful Traditional Hotel in the heart of Malacca - The traditional Malaysian decor of this hotel was beautiful and intricate. It made us feel like royalty. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is great, a road leading off jonker street (the main street attraction) but also much quieter and some interesting buildings nearby. Nothing much - don't forget to turn on the switch for water heater if you want hot water ! It was off when we arrived but staff were very helpful to show us.
- Christopher (9/5): -
- Azim (10/5): - Old town Melaka in this hotel our suite was spacious and the bathroom was modern and beautiful. The bed was spacious and lounge chair amazing. Enjoyed the walkable tours . Food suggestions and many options to eat and shop. This hotel was over 100 years d with Asian inlays and carved furnishings. The Portuguese architecture was awesome blended with Chinese decor. Enjoyed our stay. Would recommend to stay here again.
- Francesco (10/5): Ottimo hotel - Pulizia e posizione Ero all ultimo piano senza ascensore
- mihaela (8/5): Gut - Gute Lage, grosses Zimmer Nachts sehr laut.
- Michela (8/5): - Meravigliosa casa in stile cinese molto elegante , bellissima struttura
Camera pulita letto comodissimo
- Alessandra (8/5): -
- Carolyn Bernadette (9/5): Excellent. Will defintely come back - The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were big and spacious.
- Joe (8/5): -
- Karl (10/5): Perfect! - The room was large and aesthetically well designed... If you would like a heritage stay for a few days this is a good option. The staff were kind and attentive. The breakfast was very generous and fresh. The only request - provide drinking water and reduce the use of plastic bottles.
- Graham (9/5): Superb - A beautiful building with very helpful staff and a terrific breakfast. n/a
- Fahad (10/5): Exceptional - Staff was very helpful and welcoming. The hotel is strategically located. Room was very clean. Nothing
- Thong (10/5): Exceptional - Room and toilet clean
Friendly staff
No noise issue as other mention
- Phang (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heng (6/5): Good breakfast & size but noisy to sleep - Spacious room Too much squeaky sounds
- Ching (9/5): Superb -
- Leo (6/5): - Average quality
- Syera (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hazril (7/5): Good -
- Ivano (9/5): Fantastic large room by Jonker Street in a period hotel - Really spacious, big room with great furniture. Hotel is in a period building and it is perfectly maintained. Breakfast for westerners could do with more choices! Or at the very least hotel should provide more fruit choices other than orange.
- choo (10/5): - Good friend staff and room is well maintain.
- Eugene (8/5): - Great location, right next to Jonker street. The only issue with I had was the squeaky wooden floors. I heard mine as well as my neighbors. As long as you don’t mind that, place is awesome
- Anurag (7/5): Very nice heritage property on a quiet street - Well located
Clean and comfortable
Traditional decor Slightly inflexible service at reception
- Poh (7/5): Good - Please improve the car parking so that customers don't have to wait nearly 40 minutes to drive their cars out after checking out.
- Bavanes (8/5): A charming heritage hotel with lots of character - We loved the unique blend of Dutch and Baba Nyonya architecture — it gave the hotel a lot of charm and authenticity. Our room was spacious, very clean, and the bed was super comfortable. It was a lovely touch that the air conditioning was already on when we arrived, especially in Malacca’s heat.
The location is excellent — right in the heart of the heritage zone. We could walk to all the major sightseeing spots, including Jonker Street, Dutch Square, and the riverfront.
Breakfast was basic but decent, with an egg station available. Parking is limited and located at the back, but staff were helpful in guiding us. As it’s a heritage building, you’ll hear the occasional creak from upstairs and some street noise, including music from the colourful trishaws that pass by. This didn’t ruin our experience but is something to be aware of if you’re a light sleeper.
Overall, a very enjoyable stay in a hotel full of history, comfort, and convenience.
- Ghazali (9/5): Superb -
- Arunaranee (9/5): Superb -
- Yik (9/5): Superb -
- Ai Lian (8/5): - Friendly staff.
Concerned that they would not return my deposit which they took on my first night after 7 days.
Also expect to pay all nights on the first day.
Beautiful Perakaan house. Locality is ideal for sight seeing and eating local food. Grab drivers are helpful and friendly
- Bhargavi (1/5): Bad - Extremely unhelpful and inhospitable front desk staff, the lady during morning hours. Hotel was completely unoccupied, yet she did not even consider our request for one hour extension in check-out. We had checked-in at 8 pm the previous day. When we mentioned the hotel is empty so they should please consider the one hour request, she was very rude to us and then pretended to make a call to some senior. Even when we were leaving, not a single staff had the decency to look up from their desk, we had to take our own luggage to the taxi. Hotel should take definitely take strict action against front desk lady, such behaviour towards guests is unacceptable in hospitality industry.
- Alice (7/5): A pleasant stay. - Spacious room Breakfast coffee was sub standard.
- Wee (9/5): Good companion, hotel and weather - A very comfortable hotel and walking distance to Jonker street
- Stephen (8/5): Very good - Great location. Clean and tidy. Nice modern room in old building. Simple but nice breakfast. Small leak in room following heavy rain. Facilities fairly basic.
- Benjamin (8/5): Enjoyable and would definitely stay again - Rooms were spacious and comfortable, hotel clean and location was fantastic No window in the room as well as the breakfast was limited with choice
