- Brian (2/5): - The uncaring reception from the Manager/owner was unique in my history of staying in hotels. Will never ever consider returning to this hovel. Add to that the gastronomic speciality of the region, cassoulet, is the most drab and dreadful plateful of food I have ever eaten. Truly reminiscent of your average Frenchman.

- Ann (8/5): Hotel du canal - We had an overnight stay at hotel du canal after a week on a boat. It was a haven of quiet, calm and rest. It is near to the canal and the town. Maxim the host was lovely. He ensured we had all we needed for our stay. The room was spacious clean and tidy with a comfortable bed.

La clim bruyante et surtout une porte certes fermée mais qui donne sur une autre chambre... Donc ça niveau insonorisation... vraiment pas top si vous avez des voisins qui se croit seuls dans l'hôtel.

- Franck (4/5): Déceptions - C’est vraiment très dommage, cet endroit pourrait être magnifique, c’est un hôtel qui a du potentiel Mais l’entretien n’est pas au niveau d’un trois étoiles. Les équipements des chambres sont très vieillot. La qualité du petit déjeuner n’est pas à la hauteur du prix demandé pour exemple, le pain était très dur. Les abords de l’hôtel sont laissés à l’abandon . Cet hôtel donne vraiment l’impression d’être en bout de course et de ne plus être géré correctement. Il serait bien de mettre à jour la présentation de cet hôtel sur les sites de présentation.

Chambre confortable, salle de bain en état impeccable. Bon rapport qualité / prix. Petit déjeuner complet en buffet. L'hôtel dispose d'un local vélo sécurisé. Parfait pour aller faire des balades en famille le long du canal.

- Susan (8/5): - Claude the owner was obliging to all requests, even providing an area to enjoy the Rugby World Cup and also the terrace where we enjoyed a drink or two. Our 6 rooms all overlooked the Midi Canal thus we enjoyed the ambience of this famous waterway area.

N'ayant aucun document pour se faire! j'ai répondu 3 fois à ce mail, je suis contraint de donner une opinion; à part "absence" tout le reste n'a pas de sens!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Moyen et à rénover - Cet hôtel a besoin d'être rénové ainsi que les alentours. Il y a un bâtiment triste à côté de l'hôtel et le parking a de la boue et des feuilles et n'est pas entretenu. J'ai séjourné deux fois maintenant en raison de la proximité de mon travail, mais c'est la seule raison. Je trouve le personnel "indifférent" et il n'y a pas d'accueil chaleureux. Les chambres sont spacieuses mais la télévision est minuscule. La vue sur le canal est magnifique bien sûr.

Chambre 105 à 91€, beaucoup trop cher par apport aux prestations. N’en vaut pas plus que 70 !!! Dommage car bon potentiel proche du canal et à 10 mn du centre-ville. Comment l’hôtel a t’il pu obtenir le label « petit futé 2018 » ?!!!

- stephane (6/5): Pas convaincu... - Ayant réservé tardivement pour une halte le jour meme sur le trajet des vacances, j'ai peu apprécié l'accueil. Se faire reprocher à 23heures au téléphone d'être passé par Hôtels.com parce qu'ils prennent 18% de marge et qu'il faut plutôt passer par le site de l hotel n'est pas ma conception d un bon accueil. La chambre est simple, il faut aimer les oreillers très peu épais, la salle de bain est aussi simple que le reste. A priori plutôt calme (mais nous n étions visiblement pas très nombreux)

- ARNAUD (10/5): Hotel bien placé pour faire le canal du midi - Sejour d une nuit pour un trajet Toulouse Agde le long du canal du midi. Cet hotel a coté du canal et du centre de Castelnaudary possede un garage a velo et le personnel a l accueil est tres arrangeant. La chambre est propre et correspond au standart 2 etoiles. Le petit-déjeuner varié est en sus mais pratique car cela nous evite de courir les bars. Servi a partir de 7h.

When queried as to why we did not have these amenities, was told that only some of the rooms had these amenities, and as I had received a ‘members price’ through Expedia, I was told ‘Do you remember how much you paid!’ Was then told that I could use the microwave in the breakfast room, use the tea/coffee facilities near the reception desk ( tea bags provided but had to pay for coffee pods), and to go through the breakfast room out to the garden, down to a fridge for communal use. Unfortunately, opening the fridge, confronted by a bad smell and a frypan of cooked meat and a package of opened raw meat that had seen better days.

- Sylvain (6/5): chambre superbe avec vue sur canal, mais... - A l'arrivée erreur sur la chambre attribuée par rapport à la réservation. La réceptionniste corrige aussitôt, sans aucune excuse. Une fois le transfert de nos bagages fait dans la nouvelle chambre, je ramène la clé au comptoir : je n'existe pas, la receptionniste préfère l'écran de son ordinateur. Le personnel semble jeune. Pas de sourire, pas de bonjour... Au petit déjeuner le directeur licencie une serveuse en public dans la salle de pdj ! Il passe ensuite ses coups de fils personnel à coté de nous ! On est très mal à l'aise. Le personnel du pdj est très aimable. La chambre était superbe, tout confort, avec clim. (chambre dans un bâtiment indépendant de 4 chambres), mais l'équipe ne semble pas professionnel. Le cadre a un potentiel formidable, mais il semble peu entretenu.

- Ri (10/5): A Very Good Stay - When I give the 4/5 stars, that is not to say the Hotel du Canal is a 4/5 star hotel. It's French rating is 2 star but I would say 3 star. However it is a very good 2/3 star hotel & we really enjoyed staying there for 4 days last week. The hotel is situated on the Canal, just as the houses end, so if you walk under the bridge, you are in quiet 'Canal-land'. If you walk to towards the town, you are on the 'high street' in a couple of minutes. The hotel has copies of the town map which has a yellow 'tourist route' on it. Very easy to follow & takes you round all the things you should not miss. We split it over 2 days because we wanted to spend time inside the buildings one day and have a picnic round the Grand Basin the next. Just check opening hours because it is France! The hotel is also a short walk from some very good restaurants. We liked Chez David's 25 Euro set Cassoulet meal: very filling but they will pack up anything you can't eat. The hotel itself is a little dated but we are not fans of large chain hotels so we liked that. It has a good atmosphere & the cleanliness and service were excellent. At this time of year we needed the room heater which was fine. A ceiling fan for summer initially needs the light on but then pull strings switch it on & off. Reviews here have complained about receptionists: we met 4 & they were all very helpful & charming. The parking seemed secure. No actual closed gate but well off the road. All in all a very pleasant few days.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient for town - We stayed here because it was close to town and had free parking. The room was clean and sufficient as a base for exploring the area. Walking distance into town. The manager recommended a very good restaurant for cassoulet.
- Michael (10/5): Super little gem on the canal for cyclists. - A lovely place, simple and nice, right along the canal. Perfect for cyclists. Good screech breakfast for a reasonable nine euros. The staff were great and very helpful with my bicycle. All in all a super stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Little Oasis on the Canal - I spent one night at this sweet place on the Canal du Midi. My room was spacious with a wonderful shower as well. Once I figured out how to work the a/c, it was very comfortable. There was a local festival that lasted until the early morning hours, but I had been told about it when I checked in and even given ear plugs (that didn't help, but it was fine). The manager was very kind and helpful when the in-room safe malfunctioned. I'd definitely stay here again if I came to Castelnaudary again.
- David (6/5): Overnight in Castelnaudary - Hotel provided all that was required for an overnight stop. Clean & comfortable with friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast and reasonably close to town centre restaurants.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Stayed here as its only half an hour from carcasonne and Toulouse and allowed us easy access to tour the surrounding area. This is a no frills hotel, it is basic but clean, good car parking, so if you are looking for a hotel just to put your head down and be gone the next morning, it's ideal then.

- jeremy (8/5): Friendly - The room was more than adequate with an excellent bed and a nice view of the canal. There is direct access to the canal towpath for a walk to town or into the country. Restaurants are within a short and pleasant stroll. Most importantly, the staff was friendly, helpful and kind.
