Guest Reviews

The staff were so friendly. I had such a great time chatting with them, and I’ll remember our conversations very fondly. The bar downstairs had such a lovely vibe, the kitchenette was a great facility and there was even a table and kotatsu with great natural lighting.
Where to place suitcases and bags was a bit tricky. The temperature was also a bit too hot inside at times, but nothing a quick step outside couldn’t fix.
- Annaliza (9/5): This is a value for money - This is a guesthouse, it gives home vibe. Not really
- Zekiel (7/5): it was really nice place super chill the rooms were nice and the staff were helpful. - everyone seemed really friendly, the staff, the guests. would recommend for younger travellers as its a bit out of the way and their is steep stairs if your not mobile. other then that would recommend staying here for a short term Nothing really, its a little further if your not used to travelling in snowy conditions other than that its a nice place.

- Jennifer (10/5): Quiet location, but public transportation helps the location. - The location was quiet, clean, and cozy. The staff was super helpful, especially leaving my luggage to explore the city. The beds were cozy, but allowed for a restful night's sleep. The only real downside to this location is that it's not very close to downtown. That being said, public transportation is a 10 minute walk.

- Anira (8/5): - Alles super Ich habe eine boxershorts in meinem bett gefunden

- hira (6/5): -

- Margareth16 (1/5): Extremely Disappointing Experience - I’ve stayed at many hotels, but this was by far the worst experience. The staff was incredibly rude and unwelcoming, especially one blonde-haired employee who made us feel discriminated against. Her attitude was unfriendly and disrespectful throughout our stay.
The room had a strong, unpleasant odor, and the washing machine was filthy. Even after using it for an hour, our clothes still came out dirty. This level of service and cleanliness is unacceptable.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.🤬🤬🤬
- Leith (10/5): Exceptional - Was very cute and homey so it made us feel very comfortable. No complaints!
- Viajero_mnl (6/5): The best thing is the airport bus stand which is very handy. It was a cozy little hostel. - It was very near to Airport Bus station. Very handy when you have lots of luggages to carry. The checkin checkout process was very simple and fast. They have a little bar downstairs if you want to have a night cap. The stairs going up to the main rooms. When you have luggages it was a little bit of a hassle. Although we just stayed for a few hours to say we didn't really like the experience . The beds are cushiony but it keeps moving . A little bit far from a convenience store but nothing really major concern.
- Kit (10/5): Best hostel I've ever stayed in. Would 100% come back and so should you. - Clean and comfortable. All the amentities you would expect. The staff and volunteers were lovely. The atmosphere is very relaxed and social. All the other guests staying there were very kind. A good mix between people staying there for holiday and those staying a bit more long term looking for permanent accomadation.
- Ren (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were really helpful and friendly.
The bed in the dorm was in a little capsule and I slept way better than I expected. I think the capsule walls blocked sounds pretty well, but there were free earplugs too, just in case.
The common room is inviting and cozy. The vibe when I stayed was really chill and many of the guests and staff became friends.
Free coffee and tea
- China (8/5): Very good - Location is a bit away from subway but walking distance, good bar not much to ask considering value for money
- Rasita (9/5): Superb -
- Toby (8/5): Very good - Very cute hostel. Lovely private room. Some of the staff were unfriendly. Location a bit far out.
- Shandes (7/5): Good -
- Ackerman (8/5): Very good -
- Joyce (10/5): Short but comfortable homey stay - The freedom of movement in here. Equipped with a neat kitchen, I can cook some simple lunch or dinner.
The private room with tatami has an attached toilet. The staff is helpful. Polishing his English would be great for travellers who need some advice.
- Emily (8/5): Charming, comfortable, rustic hostel - Lovely vibe, staff were friendly, facilities were great and room was spacious and quiet. Dorm bed has enough room to get comfortable. Hostel was quiet enough that all facilities were available when needed. Bar apparently offers a free drink on arrival (which I didn't take) but it's a nice charm! Location is a little out of the way. Train station is a 15 min taxi or 20 min bus away and a lot of Sapporo's main attractions are near the station. Sound also travels from the hostel bar so if there's loud music or singing, you'll definitely hear it if you're trying to sleep.
- Amine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Muhammad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diptesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (8/5): Comfortable bed, good facilities and thoughtful service. - Hostel was very well run and the place was kept very neat and clean. The capsule bed was very comfortable especially the crisp clean bedsheet and quality comforter.
Check-in is fuss-free and you can even leave your luggage here for a few hours after check-out. Spacious living room and kitchen promote good interaction amongst people who stay there.
People are friendly and welcoming. Besides free coffee, the hostel also provides free slippers and home-made barley. Overall, a pleasant experience for me. There seems to be no lights-off hour and it can be difficult to sleep if people keep walking in and out of the room. The curtains for the capsules can be quite noisy when we draw the curtains for privacy.
- Sabrina (6/5): Pleasant - The common space of the kitchen/dining is cute. There are pictures and messages from past guests, and it shows you the potential of the place. The bathroom and shower rooms were clean. There are two of each, and I only used the female toilet and one of the showers, so I'm not sure how the others were. Because check out is at 11am, if you weren't already awake by then, you'd be woken up by the cleaning of departed guests' beds. It is nice seeing them pat down the futons. I stayed on the bottom bunk, and there's a gap at the wall so your area is lit up if the top bunk uses their lamp. There is a gap at where the curtain at the foot of the bed is too, so anyone can peek into your bunk while passing by. The top bunk or closer to the window is probably superior in terms of privacy. There's only one washing machine, which also acts as a dryer. It's very time consuming, so if you want to use it, you have to be on the dot before anyone else takes it.
- Sophia (9/5): Superb - The staff are so friendly! I got invited to a little dinner hosted by a fellow guest and all the staff showed up and helped cook and set things up. Also, lots of space to store bags. The common room has lots of natural light and plenty of plugs to charge your devices while you study or work. Also, had the comfiest beds of any of my stays. I slept so well. The guesthouse itself was awesome but it's pretty far to walk to different areas in the city and generally out of the way. I don't recommend bringing too many heavy luggages to the guesthouse since it's hard to get to while pulling your bags. Also, the facilities are up a steep flight of stairs, so you have to be careful coming up and down which is hard to do with a heavy bag.
- Malo (10/5): Exceptional - Super guesthouse with a great vibe, the staff is super friendly
- Hunter (10/5): Friendly and comfortable - The staff was super friendly! I traveled alone and was able to socialize with the other guests and staff at the bar! The whole guesthouse was very clean. The bed was very comfy with cotton sheets. The curtain blocked out outside light very well. I slept like a baby. I wish I could've stayed longer!
- Shona (9/5): Please try the taco rice - Good guest house, but further away from the center. Has everything you need. If you have the time, try the taco rice they sell in the bar downstairs. It was one of the tastiest things I've eaten so far. They also give you a welcome drink of Hokkaido cola down there as well. There are only 2 showers and bathroom sinks, it might mean you'll have to wait a bit before you can use it.
- Natalie (8/5): i enjoyed my stay, thank you Waya , i slept very well 😊 - the space is well arranged and bright, which creates a warm atmosphere; the toilets and showers are far from the rooms which allows you not to disturb anyone if you want to take a shower late at night or very early; there is access to a washer/dryer; the kitchen is nice; and most importantly: the bedroom doors close super silently! THANKS 🤗 the only thing that made me uncomfortable was having to touch the room door to enter/exit because it was blackened with dirt 😟 also, the women's dormitory smelled musty, it should have been ventilated during the day.
- Cheryl (10/5): Cozy hostel with bar and music corner - Backpacker hostel with good facilities, big shower rooms, Welcome drink for travellers upon arrival, Live music at night is a bonus, If you have luggage, be prepared to walk up the stairs to your room, but overall a super nice place to stay Location a little bit far from center
- Shigeo (9/5): Low price with value -
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Berengere (10/5): Exceptional - The manager and the staff are the best. Lovely people
- Daniel (9/5): Superb -
- Berengere (10/5): Exceptional - Feel like you're arriving at a friend's place
- Anji (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isabel (9/5): Superb - Super friendly staff and such a cozy place. I felt really comfortable and at home
- Nele (10/5): I enjoyed my stay - Comfortable beds, lovely rustic interior, kitchen had everything you need, everything was clean, spacious shower rooms. Staff helped me carry my big luggage up the stairs which was really nice. I could also leave my luggage at the hostel for two days after I checked out, so i could do a short trip with only my backpack.
- Thi (3/5): Poor - The staff is super friendly and helpful. They have washing machine and dryer. Everything else. Noisy and jiggle bed. The room is super small so I can hear every single movements of everyone in the room. Some people wakes up at 4AM to go to the bathroom or some wakes up at 5AM to get ready to go out. And I can hear everything they do.
The hostel is far from the station. Normally it is only 11 minute walk but it will take 20 minutes for snowy days. Believe me you will not want to walk on the thick snowed road or icy road.
- Lili (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (2/5): I wouldn't stay here again. - There were a few good amenities like a stove and coffee maker. Guesthouse waya was not a very welcoming energy and was inconveniently far from downtown Sapporo. The common spaces are not made for holding more than 3 people at a time, making it inconvenient to cook. We ended up leaving after the first night to go to a hotel downtown that was cheaper and much nicer/friendlier than guesthouse waya.
- Johnny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karina (8/5): Good - Nice staff, cheap. a little far from the station is
- Meike (7/5): The staff was great, location is convenient and the common area is great! - It’s a good location to get to the Snow Festival at Odori Park. I also liked the common area very much - it even offered a Kotatsu. It is a capsule hotel, so it’s easy to get woken during the night by other occupants. More so, the air got pretty bad in the room, quite smelly after one night.
- Jenny (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): nice and affordable - good location where near two subway stations and the cultural event of new year arrange were nice. the admin staffs are less around when we need them.
- Mina (7/5): Kindness and comfort - Very friendly staff, super comfy beds. Clean. Laundry on site. It’s a hostel so other guests’ behaviors definitely impact the experience. Had someone not obey the early morning noise rule. Also someone cooked something or threw something away in the kitchen that was very bad smelling so that space was unbearable for the second day.
- Fleur (8/5): Very nice staff - The staff was really nice and I enjoyed chatting with them. The food was delicious
- Elizabeth (8/5): Convenient location for quick stay in Sapporo - Clean facilities in a great location with close proximity to the bus stations and food locations. Could not find any staff at first. Was not told that I had to check in at the restaurant below the hostel.
- Tieke (5/5): I was glad I could leave again - Nothing It was noisy, people were running around till after twelve at night. At 5 am someone’s alarm clock went off and she started to pack.. The bed was ok, but the pillow is like a balloon. There was no privacy
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Very cozy
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -

- Linh (9/5): Superb -
- Sangmin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (5/5): Passable -
- Judy (9/5): Superb -
(10/5): I’ll be back! - Super nice staff, perfect value for money for travelers Location is not great, not such a big deal but important to be aware
(9/5): Superb -
- Jessica (7/5): Great for those on a budget - Centrally located in Sapporo. The staff are very kind and helpful. The house is older so the floors do creak. A bit of a walk to restaurants and a little far out from tourist spots.
(8/5): very cheap - it was so beautiful
- Justin (10/5): would stay again :-) - friendly staff, good facilities far from station
