• Leong (8/5): Dandong trip - Opposite the train station and restaurants just a few floors below the hotel. Value for money. Front desk staff were not sure about work and delay checking in. Couldn't even find my booking record and got problems for payment.

• jrwbrierley (8/5): Nice hotel on China/North Korea border - Good hotel. Very reasonably priced. I booked a river view double room and I was on the 22nd floor - the second highest. On a clear day, the view is spectacular, of both Dandong itself and, of course (and best of all), North Korea, with views of both urban and rural North Korea clearly visible and very close up. My room window didn't face the bridge, and I had to look right to see North Korea, but I could still see a lot, and I could see the bridge view from the corridor windows. If you're staying at this hotel, it's likely you're here for the North Korea reason, and this hotel is ideally located near the Broken Bridge and river cruises. A river cruise is a must, because it goes right up to the river bank of North Korea. I saw North Koreans working on rusty old boats, carrying heavy sacks on their backs, and riding bicycles - just like you see on TV. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the train station, as well, and very close to authentic Korean food restaurants (you'll have to look around in the back streets for those). Unfortunately, my room had a very weak internet connection.

The hotel is within walking distance to the bridge and train station. There is also a mall in the building. The Great Wall Hushan is about 25 minutes by Didi. The staff really fulfilled our every wish, a great service!

Location from rail station to hotel / distance to attractions and everywhere close to local eateries all within 10-15 minutes walking distance was very convenient for me. Check in was smooth . Room was pleasant and you have all you need in the room. For that central location and price I paid I think it’s value for money .
• Adrian (8/5): Overall very pleased and will stay in a Hilton Garden Horel when I visit Beijing - Good choice. There was a bit of an issue with the Wifi, but the receptionist (think her name was Suzy) dealt with it immediately.
• Roman (10/5): Exceptional - We liked everything. The location is awesome, it's only 5 minute walk from the train station, and another 5 minute walk from the famous Broken bridge. The view from the windows is super, on one side you see the city itself and on the other side it's the beautiful Yalu river with the Broken bridge bordering with a North Korean city. The staff was very nice and helpful. Check in and out are super fast. Nothing negative. Everything was great.
• Bonner (8/5): Great value in Dandong - There were a lot of available services in the building, the room was cleaned and resupplied daily. We were able to be extended a day with very little hassle. We had a couple of maintenance issues, i.e., there was a light bulb out in the bathroom that they couldn't fix without moving us, and there was a leak in the shower plumbing that was more irritating than serious.
• Dicley (7/5): Location and international chain - The location of the hotel is great, just walking distance from many restaurants and historical sights. It is also connected to a shopping mall which offers many food and drink options. There is also a parking option. The breakfast was ok but really good for that price compared to the outside. The hotel is old and it is not maintained by Hilton standards. The carpets in the room were dirty and had many stains. The mirror in the room had a lot of stains. The cleanliness in general in the room was not good. They also don't have bed sheets for baby cod.
• 537christopherx (6/5): Overall average experience - Stayed in the suite at the Hilton in Dandong for two nights. Pretty average experience, sometimes a faint cigarette smell comes over the air con, wifi was awful pretty much the whole stay with very slow speeds, the bathroom shower drains didn’t do its job which cause the bathroom to overflow with water although the room was pretty clean and the view over North Korea was quite nice. Considering the Hilton is the only main chain hotel brand in Dandong and the price was very cheap, might consider staying her again.

• Niemarkt (6/5): Good hotel, convenient close to trainstation - Hotel is good and 5 min walk form main trainstation. There is a nice restaurant in the same building. The breakfast was also good and we liked the food. All in all a good stay and next time we probably will go there again. We have visited Dandong for business reasons.

• juhahi (10/5): Great stay and location - Stayed one night here, which is a shame.. Hotel was very clean and comfortable in all ways, and location very close to railway station. Expensive western shopping mall in lower floors (hotel reception at 8th). There was also very nice buffet available, and seemed to be popular with locals as well - fresh seafood can be picked by yourself and given to the staff for cooking, or do it yourself in hotpot. Also a lot of warm and cold dishes available. Made this already 2019 but review was in draft for some reason.
• Hui (8/5): We finally tried it. - We often travel to Dandong to visit family and normally stay at Wanda Realm because it has a pool. This time, we needed an extra night in Dandong and stayed at the Hilton. Parking was on the street with valet help, which was a little awkward. The lobby was on the 8th floor of the building and the check-in process was fine and English was spoken. We had a corner room with a nice view of North Korea but the room itself was a little small. The hotel breakfast was ordinary. I had left my phone in the bathroom and immediately returned to the hotel and the staff retrieved it quickly. Wife left a special pillow and didn't realize it until a few hours later (after we had checked into the Wanda Realm). We called the Hilton and they had retrieved it and it was in the lost and found room. Since we had given our phone number upon checking in, we were a little disappointed the hotel didn't call us when they found it. The location of the hotel is excellent; very close to the train station and an easy walk to the Yalu River. The Wanda is further away, though located next to a large Wanda Mall.
• Zhangjinnan619 (4/5): Cigarette smoke, hot and noisy. - The smell of cigarette smoke is everywhere in this hotel. It's disgusting. Despite booking a non-smoking floor, as we were shown to our room, we passed two rooms whose occupants had the door propped open, while smoking. The room was stifling hot, but we turned on the AC and went out for the day. When we returned the room was even hotter and I contacted the front desk, who said the AC isn't switched on yet. The website advertises AC, and doesn't say "AC sometimes." I pointed this out and the manager was really helpful and offered us a room on a lower floor, saying it would be cooler. It was - barely, but stank heavily of cigarettes. We tried another room, with the same result. Eventually, after much waiting around, we were given a corner room on the 19th floor, which offered a little air movement, thanks to it having two windowed walls. The whole floor smelled of cigarettes, but this whole hotel smells badly of cigarettes. Of course, hotel windows these days barely open at all, and the corner was above a very busy junction, with blaring traffic horns every 30 seconds, all day and all night. We got very little sleep for the two nights we were there, with the heat, noise and stench of cigs. The breakfast was buffet and average, as was dinner, with little in the way of any western cuisine. However, my Chinese wife thought the food was excellent, so maybe I was expecting too much. Dandong is a tier 4 city, and this certainly becomes obvious very quickly. The driving is terrible, and crossing any road, anywhere is dangerous - more so than any other city I can recall in my 13 years of living in China. Lots of spitting, and very noisy. However, the walk along the river is lovely. Hilton really need to up their game if they wish to maintain any sort of prestige. This place is showing its age, particularly in the carpets and furnishings, and absolutely reeks of cigs, everywhere. The beds were comfortable, although I found the pillows too soft by miles. The bathroom and shower were good, with reasonable toiletries, and the staff were very obliging and polite. If I ever visit that area again, I'd pay the extra for the 5 star Wanda hotel. This definitely isn't 4 star and, whatever the price, and convenient location, Hilton should make its premises non-smoking, everywhere, in every country. I wouldn't stay here again, whatever deal was offered.

Dinner buffet is awesome, inexpensive and has a very good selection. Overall, it’s the best of all hotels in Dandong if the cost is within your budget.

• Megabruno1994 (6/5): Overrated, but Acceptable - Being the one and only international chain hotel in Dandong, I had some expectations when I arrived. To be fair, the hotel met most of them. The location was really unbeatable, pretty much just across the street from the train station and easily walkable to downtown core and Yalu River. My corner room was tastefully designed, looked brand new and had an awesome view, I was able to see very far into North Korea which I did not expect at all. Although, I have to say that my check-in and departure experience were less than ideal. I found the staff somewhat cold and judgemental, but that's strictly my personal opinion. My room was a corner room and the room rate was quite high, yet I did find the room small. I also encountered some issues with my A/C unit - in fact I had this issue with many other hotels in China - the A/C struggled a great deal when trying to bring the temperature down, and humidity was uncomfortably high. That said, I liked my stay in general. By the look of it I still don't have many options in Dandong when it comes to mid-to-high-scale hotels, so the HGI will do for now, but I look forward to trying something else when they become available.
• the3pete (8/5): Fair Enough - I certainly would not argue with the value proposition. It's not my dream come true, but certainly a solid choice for a stay. Breakfast buffet each morning and a seafood buffet on Monday nights keep it easy and convenient.
• yeonghaur (10/5): Convenient location, great view and friendly service - Stayed for one night. Hotel conveniently located 5 min walk from train station. 10 min walk to the Yalu River and broken bridge. Plenty of places to eat all around. Easy to get taxi to further away attractions. Friendly and professional service. Flexible. Room is very good. We booked one with a river view and it was good. Can see the meandering Yalu River, the broken bridge and the new bridge, and of course North Korea. Room is not big but well designed. We booked a double bed but it could fit three if you don't mind sleeping on the sofa (comfy enough). Didn't get the breakfast so cannot comment. Overall, considering the location, quality of room and view and service, I think it is good value for money.
• bigjoelittlejoe (8/5): Travels through China - We arrived by train from North Korea to Dan Dong Station, we booked into this hotel in the heart of the city. We were on the 22 floor with wonderful views over the city and the broken bridge connecting the 2 countries. The Hilton Garden Hotel has all the amenities, with a good buffet for breakfast and supper. The room was well appointed with usuals, safe, tea coffee making. The only downside we found, was the air-conditioning wasn't cold enough, but the staff organised a portable cooling unit, which helped to reduced the heat. Its easy to wonder round the city from this location.

The room in which I stayed was well equipped and clean but room temperature is unbearably warm at 26 degrees Celsius constantly and could not be adjusted. Food and beverage were catered for locals with very limited choice for Western or other foreign visitors. What attracted me to this hotel was the HILTON brand but I would try other more modern hotels run by Chinese companies.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Handy location and clean - Handy to public transport. Occupants in the next room smoked heavily although the hotel has a non-smoking policy. Apparently, the manager attended to my complaint herself and told the offenders to stop and also put an air purifier outside my room which helped.
• 360jsong (2/5): Bad experience with Hilton Dandong - Issues with AC and shower drain. Hotel turns off main AC during day time and non smoking room smells heavy smoke. Hallway smells bad with Main AC off. Business center is out of service during my 17 night stay.
• Verified traveler (8/5): 離丹東火車站超近，飯店即可寄存行李 - 一下丹東火車站，眼光往天空繞一圈就瞧見了.因為樓層高，距離近，不用導航也走得到。附近商家林立，想吃朝鮮餐，逛朝鮮店的最佳選擇。飯店櫃臺在8樓，一樓是百貨公司入口，逛百貨公司十分方便。是丹東這個小地方可以考慮的選擇。

• hermie88 (8/5): Wonderful stay - My GF and I stayed here for one night as she is a Marriott Gold member so we try to stay in as many Marriott properties to take advantage of her status. Overall I must say this was a great hotel. It is very close (5 mins walk) from the train station and is part of a shopping mall so there is a Starbucks nearby or plenty of other local eating options. The hotel is just a 10 min walk f rom the broken bridge. We got upgraded to a room that was large clean and had a great view of the broken bridge. The hotel staff are very nice and friendly and the hotel manager called to see if everything was okay. Only one issue I have is that the temp in the room gets warm and it seems the control setting for temp doesn’t work too well. We figure we popped open the window and lower the shade to cool the room down.
• fernwehaus (8/5): Best option for Dandong - Only a block away from Dandong’s train station, this Hilton Garden Inn is a great option in a city with limited western hotels. The rooms, while small, were well appointed and the beds were comfortable. Two small gripes however - the temperature was kept very warm throughout the entire hotel (including in the rooms, which you couldn’t lower beyond 24ish degrees), and there seemed to be no room service available when we stayed (despite their being room service pages in the in room hotel book).

• hyunjung (8/5): 다음에도 이용할 예정 - 단둥시내와 기차역에서 가까워 이동이나 이용하기 편리했음. 스텝들의 언어 소통엔 좀 아쉬움. 조식포함 룸을 예약했는데 이부분이 레스토랑에 명단이 들어있질 않아 매일 체크해야했음. 조식은 지나치게 중국식이고 아메리칸 블랙퍼스트가 부실함. 청결하고 조용하나 헤어드라이기가 부속이 덜어져있는등 부실했음. 1층 쇼핑몰에 스타벅스가 있고 다른 구경할만한 것들이 많아 좋음.
• JOSEPH (2/5): - The smell of sweat in the bed made them smell of cigarettes and sweat even though they replaced the sheets. There was hair in the bedroom floor carpet and smelled of old stingy sweat all over the room. The pillow also smelled of cigarettes and sweat even though the cover was replaced.
• Ingmar_Ben (10/5): Really nice hotel - The hotel is just great! The reception staff was very friendly. The room was clean and bright with very nice views of the Dandong city. There was everything in the room, good tv, comfortable beds, tea, coffee, beautiful bathroom. The location is great as well, very near to Yalu river and near to the city centre. I recommend this hotel to everyone.

• zzeGermans (10/5): Fantastic hotel in a mysterious city - Had always wanted to visit Chinese/North Korean border town Dandong and in Feb 19 I finally got the chance. The Garden Inn is located inside the fanciest mall in town and just a few hundred meters from the Yalu border river. The staff is fantastic (shout out to Summer and the cleaning crew) and when I was there they had the seafood buffet on sale for 88 RMB, which is a real steal. Also, they still havent started charging service fees on top, so lets hope it stays that way. Anyhow, the Garden Inn is your best choice for a nice stay in that really weird town on the border.

• J_Tai0101 (8/5): Hot water not hot? - Great location, quick walk to the train station and everything else. Only gripe is that the hot water is not hot, and the water pressure seems kinda off. They upgraded my room as I'm a Hilton Honours member.

• ISureHopeSo (10/5): The best place to stay in Dandong - We absolutely loved every minute at this wonderful property. Here's why: -the staff were soooooooo amazing!! -the proximity to the train station is ideal -the hotel is extremely clean, modern, bright, spacious and inviting -the location is central to the Yalu River and pretty much everything else in town too We are seasoned travellers and this hotel provided one of the best guest experiences we have ever enjoyed. The management and staff definitely know what they are doing; their customer service skills are fantastic!! They treat everyone like royalty. We would stay here again on our next visit without any hesitation; it's wonderful!! Highly recommended!!

• sungdae (8/5): 단동에서 가장 맘에 들었던. - 담배냄새 안나고 영어가 어느정도 통하는 호텔.. 위치가 단동역에서 아주 가깝기 때문에 단동 방문시에는 이곳만 이용할것 같음.

• Bill (8/5): - Overall a nice facility. Parking is horrible and their advertisements are misleading. There is street parking only and it’s actually not valet parking as stated. The sweet I was in is nice but housekeeping is not that good. The floors weren’t cleaned and the air conditioning is poor at best. To their advantage though, the nicest available in this particular location. Overall I will say it’s a good place to stay
• Michiel (10/5): Zeer modern hotel! Goed onderhouden. - Leuk hotel, zeer modern. Het is gelegen boven een shoppingcenter met dure winkels. Je ondervindt er geen last van ;) Het rare is wel dat voor de receptie te bereiken je eerst de lift naar boven moet nemen. De hotelkamer is zeer modern en luxueus. Hert ontbijt zeer uitgebreid. Het hotel ligt op wandelafstand van de bekende brug en het water. Alsook het station wat maar minder als 5 min wandelen is. Ideaal gelegen dus! :)
• 두아들맘 (10/5): 기차역도 가깝고 압록강도 가깝다 - 단둥에 처음갔는데 기차역에서 내리니 바로 보여서 걸어서 가서 너무 좋았다 ~^^^ 조식도 괜찬았고 다음에도 가면 다시 이용하고싶다 다만 방은 깨끗한데 좀 방이 좀 작다 ~

• Kern (8/5): Excellent location & value for money - The location is excellent, 7-10 minutes walk from the train station. Easily located as it is one of the tallest building in the area. From the location, possible to walk to Yalu River & surrounded by eateries in the area. Definitely value for money, the room is spacious & clean. The restaurant’s food is good but a bit slow. Suggest the hotel to be flexible during off peak season by upgrading the room to those with river view. Will definately stay there when visit Dandong again.

• Elton (10/5): Pleased with the central location. - The hotel's central location facilitated our effort to get an overall sense of the city, and its relationship to North Korea.
• Izidor (10/5): Great location - Hotel is located close to railway station- 5 min walk. Rooms are spacious and beds are really comfortable. Also bathroom is great. Breakfast is good- mix of choices of european, chinese and korean food. If you dont like hotel restaurant there is starbucks and hagen dazs in the same building as hotel and kfc 5 min walk away.
