- Kaylee (3/5): Lovely staff but room certainly felt like it is a 'booking.com' room. - I stayed here as I was helping a friend move house. Location was ideal as it was 5 miles away from their new home and 10 miles from the old one. I checked in late, about 21:30. The night porter checked me in, he was really friendly and more than happy to show me where to go. My five minutes checking in with him was the highlight of the stay. He confirmed I could come back later on and he'd be around if the building was locked. I also liked the building, the ascetics and age gave it a lovely Welsh manor feel. The multiple stairways certainly added to it's character and charm. The room I stayed in could have been lovely. It appeared to have been recently decorated (in the last year maybe) but the carpet was very old and covered in marks and stains. I'm not sure when the room was last used as the radiator was on maximum, even though it had been 19 degrees all day - it was like walking into a sauna. The room was really dusty to the point the cups also had a layer of dust sat in the bottom of them, there was also quite a bit of hair on the floor and behind the bed. The furniture looked like it had just been haphazardly thrown in, the bed side tables weren't near the bed. The window blind was broken, you couldn't rotate them to block out light. I checked in late and returned to the room at 11pm, was too tired from moving to report it so I made some temporary curtains with the towels and put my suitcase and clothes in front of them to try and block out the light. Certainly made trying to cool the room down hard as colder air couldnt get in past the wall i'd made. The bed had a thin spring matress on it and while it was comfortable to lay on, after a long day, the springs twanged when you moved on it. Generally the room felt dirty but I needed a bed and a shower and that's all I can say this room was useful for. Shower head and soap dispensing bottle was covered in black mould. It's not the worst place I've stayed in for uncleanliness but it's certainly in my bottom 5. Shame as I'm sure it's usually alot better, felt like the room I had hadn't be used for a while so didn't require a clean close to my stay.

- SHEILA (8/5): Lovely helpful staff and lovely room. - Having been to many functions at the hotel I had always wanted to stay there. The hotel receptionist was very welcoming, the room was very good, ideally I would have loved a room looking over the lovely gardens at the front but I was happy given the exceptional price that I paid. Having, literally, just being there to sleep there wasn't anything that I didn't like.

The bedrooms really let this property down, they are in desperate need of modernization, there is only so clean some one can clean a room that needs totally gutting and starting again. This was ok for a lads trip but the wife would have not stayed.

Breakfast was disappointing. 1 staff member was allocated to the Breakfast service, and was left to both clean and replenish the breakfast area and buffet hot plate. - Emma (2/5): Room was way to hot - I been to this place many times I like it here I love being at the back of the hotel in the anna block which I request before this trip I always found no problems Thus trip was differant the 1st room I was given was still getting repairs done I belive as the room was tidy but the bathroom had towels over the floor which were dirt and had what look like old taps on the side it was no bother for them 2 change my room I went next door and the heat of this room hit me straight away so I turned the heating off by the radiater well I thought I had this was about half 3 at around 5pm I wemtt and spoke to reception about how hot it was in this room even with the door open and the window also that it had no remote for TV the guy said the heating is on times but he will turn it off as the system wad for the whole building well next day the heating came back on I went over again to be told that he can't turn it off that day as there was other people in building and he couldnt please everyone he was rude on the Friday afternoon in front of 2 other stuff members he said he be over in half hour to turn it off after I asked if he could do anything else the heating didn't go off untill go 9pm I had my door open wide untill about 10 when my room had finally cooled down I was woken up at 5.30am to a noise it was the heating coming back on I went to reception to ask of they could turn it down it had given me a bad chest I explained it was just way to hot on the room amd maybe a manager needs to stay in there just to see again there was nothing they could do i had to leave my room earlier then intended cause it was just to hot it ruined my stay again when I dropped keys off I reported it and said I be in touch cause I wasn't happy with .y stay however the bathroom radiater wasn't even that warm even tho it's all connected

- kenneth (8/5): All in all we had a great time, the venue itself is fabulous but the rooms are a bit tired. - Staff were lovely, Breakfast was good (help yourself to as much as you like). We were there for a birthday and the food in the evening was outstanding and all the staff were very polite and friendly. Rooms could do with a makeover. The list in the room of the cost of any breakages was definitely a put off.

- Tracey (6/5): - The grounds of the Mae’s Manor are beautiful. The staff were friendly. The hotel itself is very dated and in need of new paint and furniture. Our shower had no pressure and some mold. The towels and sheets were nice and clean though.

Staff were a pleasure to speak to Bed sheet had burn marks, bedrooms were boiling (listed building can't have AC ) had to go and buy my own fan. Beds were really low budget and uncomfortable.

- Stuart (3/5): Won't be staying here again. - All the staff where excellent, breakfast was very good as was dinner. The property is in dire need of refurbishment. Shower was weak and mouldy.
- Wendy (8/5): Attended wedding and stayed overnight. Surroundings were beautiful, hotel was clean and tidy - Beautiful surroundings Breakfast items mostly ran out before 9am so not a lot of choice left. Not sure if it was topped up at all after I’d been.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - On arrival the receptionist was rude to one of us. We had 2 rooms, one had no cold water to the basin, the mattress was soft you tended to fall through it and the shower mixer was faulty so that you had water flowing from shower head and from the tap. The other room had no hot water to the basin. Breakfast was reasonable but every morning we had to ask for condiments. Generally the standard of service was poor. We all felt that hotel and our rooms in particular looked tired,needing freshening up. Finally, when checking out we were not asked if we enjoyed our stay.

The room smelt like stale urine .The bed had a plastic mattress protecter under the sheet .The bottom sheet was too small and didn't cover the bed.Mould in the bathroom. Breakfast is from 8am to 9 30 am we were there at 8am.No one around had to go to front destination to ask for coffee and is someone setting up the Continental Breakfast table. Continental Breakfast table Boxes of opened cereal with loaves of opened bread dumped into a basket. The bread felt stale.We chose not to have toast as You don't know who's hands have been in the bread packet.Fresh fruit was old no yoghurt which was stated on the Continental menu. The room were tired and dirty with dead flys on the window seal through out the hotel. We have been travelling for 6 weeks in the UK and this was the worst hotel I've ever been in and paid alot more to stay here. Yes its a stunning building from the out side and as you walk into reception and bar area .That's it. Very tired and dated.

There was a wedding on so sleep was difficult (I wouldn't have minded this if the price was reasonable). Also everything in the room (drawers, TV etc) were in poor condition. The blinds were also inadequate for blocking out light, making sleep even more difficult. Breakfast was poor.

The outside is absolutely gorgeous Very poor breakfast and totally disorganised . 20.gbp for breakfast to get the brown toast from lidl and cereals in a carton ? Bad presentation, bad food ... a place like that could be such a gem! The rooms are outdated and no air-conditioning conditioning or fan in the room.
- Emma (1/5): Bad - The country side I had 2 nights I was in a room behind the hotel annix I think they call them has they wanted me to changed rooms after one night I said I wasn't comfortable doing this so that put me over here I got in room first thought lovley nice quiete area however I discovered the TV was like losing picture I went reception nothing they could do but I came to relax the worse thing is there are no curtains in room and woke up and couldnt go back to sleep at 10 past 4 the light coming in is terrible I get it after looking u couldn't get curtains up but u could put a blind up there im going home more tired then comming I did speak about this to reception but cause they had a wedding up here on the second day I was here I couldn't do anything but the worse night was the Wednesday night I left before I was suppose to

- Jason (4/5): Beautiful building but shabby bathroom and breakfast issues let it down. - Grounds are beautiful and kept well. Breakfast: Glasses not out on a tray or on the bar for your juices so people had to keep asking for Glasses. Breakfast trays not kept stocked up with all items. Had to wait for items to be cooked. Tea was not even luke warm in the flask. Milk had run out so had to wait for Milk. No knives so had to wait for knives. No sauces out so had to wait for sauces. Bread had run out so had to wait for bread. I spent more time back and forth the kitchen requesting items as staff had no awareness of keeping items stocked up. When I eventually managed to get breakfast it was tasty. This was the general consensus from the other guests I spoke to. Bar: Some beers were off on draught as they had run out. Room in Coach House: Room was average but bathroom very worn and tired and needs some work to improve the bathroom. The block had no hot water the day we got there so couldn't shower before our event in the evening. The maintenance man sorted out the hot water situation later that night.

Coach house was tired looking on the outside but appeared to have been decorated and recarpeted fairly recently on the inside. Good value for money. I waited in reception for a while for staff and walked around trying to find a member of staff to check in (I was early) they appeared to have limited staff on duty.

- Gary (3/5): Never again. Too shabby - Nothing Staff said bar closed at 10pm it was 9.45pm. Had a stressful day ahead and needed to relax. Bed had the cheapest mattress ever. I just had hip replacement 6 weeks ago and had to be assisted to walk by two people at my fathers funeral Being really unwell they were enforcing g the get out time I wasn’t even aware about. No water in room. Lack of beverage facilities, room service. Door paint on first floor very dirty as was skirting’s in bedroom. Price was cheaper than booking .com. Would never return. I have my wedding reception then and my parents 50th anniversary thankfully it was a pleasure to visit in 2007-2008.
