Guest Reviews
- Noden (9/5): Great over night stay, tea a breakfast was excellent. Brilliant service - Great superior double room
- Graham (8/5): -
- Sian (10/5): - We got a call from the owner directly to say that due to unforeseen circumstances we had been booked and upgraded to their sister hotel only a few mins drive away from our originally booked hotel.
On arrival we were greeted by Glen the owner who was amazingly helpful and charming, full of knowledge about the area...even offered to give us a lift into town if we wanted it.
The room was comfortable and tastefully decorated with comfortable furniture and bed.
Food was lovely and well presented with an amazing view from the dining room. No complaints.
- Chris (4/5): - Food, dinner was dire, only two staff working include the 'chef'
- Andrew (8/5): An easy place to stay, all the staff we met were helpful - The communication from reception was excellent when we had a late arriving issues The smoking area seemed to be just outside the main entrance, it is off putting to walk through smoke and set full ash trays
- Adrian Batterley (10/5): -
- Mark (7/5): Good hotel ,for a one night work stay in great location off the motorway. - Great Scottish Breakfast Could be noisy with trades people staying but ok when settled down.
- Ian (10/5): - Lovely room and bathroom
- Michael (10/5): Ideal stop over , very accommodating, very clean. - Travelling for work and needed over night stay on return to England, very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, nice evening meal and a hearty breakfast. The room was very clean and everything I needed was provided. Great stay thank you. Nothing,
- Matthew (10/5): A very clean and welcoming hotel with great rooms presented to a high standard by fantastic people. - The hotel was immaculately clean, the rooms were spacious and well decorated, after a long day travelling the hotel was a welcome sight, and the hotel was a great place to stay, very well presented, and the staff were next level friendly. Food - great, nice and freshly cooked to order from a small menu of tasty food which meant they were able to make fresh for you, breakfast was the same - just a real lovely family run venture - well done. Next time I am in the area this will be the place to go.
- Gardner (8/5): We found the stay suited all our needs - Spacious comfortable and convenient
- Andrew (1/5): Never again. - Not much. After a long journey in terrible weather it was very, very disappointing to find the restaurant closed at 8pm. Hotel is basic to say the least and not particularly clean. The young girl working both reception and the bar by herself was friendly and helpful enough.
- Kieran (4/5): - No food or service when we arrived
- neil (7/5): -
- Dave (6/5): -
- Philip (9/5): A comfortable, welcoming and friendly hotel. - The place was friendly and welcoming. Nothing!
- judith (7/5): It was OK, but that was all. - WE WERE RATHER SURPRISED TO FIND THAT BECAUSE WE BOOKED WITH BOOKING .COM THE BREAKFAST WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE RECEPTIONIST THEN TRIED TO CHARGE US FOR 4 FULL SCOTTISH BREAKFASTS INSTEAD OF TWO FULL SCOTTISH AND TWO CONTINENTAL. We will not use Booking.com again. We felt swindled out of our breakffasts. See above
- Alex (6/5): not too bad but could have been better - Not the best hotel during our tour of scotland. Kept getting moved by staff in the bar in the evening so they could set up for breakfast, Poor choice of drinks at the bar & breakfast was average. Staff should have been more welcoming, friendly & helpful.
Breakfast should have more choice of cereals/pastries.
- Andrew (9/5): Staff were great -
- Stevejj6j (7/5): -
- Heather (5/5): - Staff was not very friendly
- Alex (8/5): Great hotel - Nice hotel, clean and staff were nice. Food very good. Solo cyclist I could lock my bicycle inside.
- Jeremy (7/5): Fine place - Nice place on outskirts of Lockerbie.
Clean tidy, essentials covered.
Good breakfast. Loads of free parking Room 18. No drawers in room, just open shelving. TV a neck strain.
Bar always closed (early) when we fancied a drink.
Nearby motorway noisy but hey ho.
- Trevor (6/5): -
- BRIAN (8/5): The staff are very friendly and made us feel extremely welcome, nothing was too much trouble. - Its location offered easy access from the motorway and the surroundings were quite peaceful. Overall the hotel is a bit tired.
- Christine (7/5): This hotel is fine as a stopping off point for a night - Convenient stopover point - just off the M6. Food was good. Tired appearance. Everything closed down @8:30. Clearly understaffed.
- John (8/5): Good - Clean and welcoming staff Very hot in rooms with heating off and windows fully open.
- Caroline (10/5): Excellent facilities and very comfortable rooms. - Very comfortable and clean modern room with all the facilities we needed. The staff were excellent and very helpful. would thoroughly recommend.
- michael (4/5): Wedding - Unable to check in due to unforeseen power outage, had to change into wedding clothes in emergency lit toilets. Bad attitude from the hotel manager re the situation. Fortunately power was back on when we returned from the wedding ceremony. Wedding meal etc was good , room nicely presented, service ok but staff not very friendly. Meal was 7pm , but the evening was curtailed when we were told the bar was closing 10.10 pm. Though only 25 of us at the wedding, we would have thought keeping the bar open to an acceptable time was in their interest as well as the guests.
So early night it was. Rooms ,toilets, bar area & restaurant were good due to refurbishment. Would never stay there again unless a change of management & staff was put in place, who fully understand the art of good customer service. Be careful before booking👎
- Rowland (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): Sure is good - Stayed here on multiple trips cant beat a family run place. Brilliant
- Shaun (10/5): Great stay with amazing staff! - Fantastic friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us & tended to our every request. Nothing
- Tom (5/5): Passable - Evening meal really poor. Change the chef
- Denzil (9/5): Nice and quite plenty of space outside to relax - location was spot on... nice quite
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Connex (10/5): Exceptional -
- Megan (6/5): Pleasant - Staff we spoke to were polite, room was small but had everything we needed. We had an evening meal and breakfast during our stay which were both lovely. The bar and restaurant were eerily quiet which isn’t the hotels fault but not much atmosphere in there, hardly saw any guests (or staff!) the entire time we were there. The towels in the bathroom weren’t clean, had marks/stains on them and were slightly yellow. Bedding was put on the floor outside the room before being changed which seems an odd practice to me, usually cleaners have a cart/trolley so the clean bedding doesn’t touch the floor??
- Sean (10/5): A pleasant stop over - Last minute booking as I was driving north. Shortly after received a courtesy call checking for arrival time.
Very large car park. Close to the motorway (no noise issues)
Very polite receptionist.
Room was clean and bed was comfortable. I have zero complaints from my overnight stop.
- Janice (8/5): Peaceful and comfortable stay breaking up road trip to Mull - Good breakfast. Peaceful setting on the outskirts of Lockerbie. Close to the garden of remembrance re the plane crash. Great service. Nothing. Unable to comment on the evening meal as we are out with friends in Lockerbie town centre.
- Martin (8/5): Very good - The breakfast was excellent
- Illidge (10/5): A beautiful hotel, in a beautiful, peaceful location. Ideal for a getaway from the stress and demands of a busy life. An - The hotel had a homely feel about it. Family run which added to the comfort of the service provided There was some banging from the 3rd floor, not sure if it was staff quarters
- Mrs (7/5): lovely hotel - clean, spacious and the staff were very helpful and accomadating. N/A
- Sheena (8/5): Nice hotel and good location - Location and restaurant was good Nothing
- Cara (10/5): Lovely hotel would definitely recommend - Clean/comfortable staff were lovely
- Maclennan (2/5): Very poor - I like the hotel. I knew it years ago as the Queens Hotel. Very expensive, I had 2 rooms . 1 family room which was OK and 1 double room. It was tiny and dated. Breakfast was overcooked. I was over charged by morning staff by £38. I disagreed but she would have none of it. I didn't want to make a screen so left. Dissatisfied.
- Erin (10/5): EXCELLENT - STAFF WERE POLITE Nothing
- Saran (10/5): Very well located, clean and comfortable hotel with friendly, helpful staff and excellent food - Friendly staff, lovely clean room and excellent food Nothing
- Glen (10/5): Great stay - Rooms were immaculate , service with a smile from all staff on duty Nothing , look forward to returning in the future
- Dylan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (10/5): - Had a lovely stay while away with work. The food was amazing and it is a beautiful building, with so much character.
All the staff were very friendly and professional, especially Glen who runs the hotel excellently!
Thank you for a great stay, I'll definitely see you again when I'm next up that way :-)
- Moates (10/5): GREAT PLACE TO STAY - THE FOOD WAS FIRST CLASS WITH A WARM AND FRENDLY STAFF. NOTHING
- Tom (7/5): Good -
- Toni (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melvyn (10/5): We stayed one night as we were touring Scotland. This was our last night, the bedroom was large and beautifully furnishe - Large historic building, very impressive features, but decorated in a modern way.
Although it wasn’t a cold November, a wood burning stove was lit in the dining room, giving the room a warm and cosy atmosphere. We had a delicious meal, perfectly cooked. The owner was very friendly and helpful, as soon as we had checked in, he took our luggage to our room without being asked. My husband is disabled but likes to do things himself even if he struggles so this was a huge help. All in all, a lovely overnight stay, I would recommend highly. Nothing!
- Judy (9/5): Great location, comfortable room and great food. - We received an upgrade on arrival, not expected so very pleasant.
Lovely room, large and light and fabulous bathroom.
Very good evening meal with roaring fire in background.
Pleasant breakfast. N/A
- Sandra (8/5): Very good - Clean and friendly staff , Lack of communal areas to sit as other areas locked in the hotel , on arrival no one at reception then find out restaurant closed due to short staff .
- Tony (7/5): Good -
- Kara (1/5): Nice hotel, shame the staff and food let the place down - The room itself was pleasant and comfortable.
Lovely outdoor area and plenty parking. Staff service was awful. Waited 15 minutes for someone to appear to be seated. Waited longer for our starters, was never told the specials. Main meal took around 25 mins to appear for one main to be off and clearly been sat under a heat source for too long. Drinks we asked for half way through the meal arrived after we were finished to then have to stand around in the hall way untill somone showed up so we could pay. Very rude young lady with absolutely zero interest in doing her job.
- Kevin (6/5): - Double bed had two single mattresses, gap in the middle.Shower did not have a non slip shower mat.
- Mac83507 (4/5): Not all is meant to be. - Great service from the staff.
Restaurant was great and great food.
Rooms clean and comfortable. No snooker table as noted by hotel.
Hotel front door locked at 2200 no key for entry.
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- North (5/5): Good intentions but meal service a let down. - Nice room on ground floor. Very clean, spacious and good facilities No dinner meals on weekends and relatively small food range on week nights. Toilet in room set high, feet could barely reach the floor.
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (4/5): Disappointing -
- P (9/5): Calm location near the motorway. - The hotel was easy to find and just what we needed after a fairly long drive. The staff were lovely and we are happy to pass on details to friends of ours who also like to break their journey. We set off the following day refreshed and ready for the road. We'll be keeping the hotel's details for reference. Everything worked well for us, so there's nothing worth noting here. Everything we needed sorting was dealt with.
- Gaynor (7/5): Great location 5 mins from M74! - The hotel was really lovely once you got through the door and checked in.
Staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble even the cleaning staff helped! The car park and grounds could do with improvements but after all you don’t sleep in the carpark.
- William (5/5): Passable -
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (6/5): Pleasant - Nothing open on Sunday afternoon/night. Very few chanels on the tv
- Daniel (8/5): Nice comfortable hotel, very welcoming staff. - Nice comfortable hotel, very welcoming staff. No hot water early Sunday morning it was 8am before water got hot.
- Yvonne (8/5): Very good -
- Nathan (8/5): Always a good stay - Excellent breakfast, great staff and excellent location
- Alum (8/5): Relaxing - Restaurant food and breakfast were great.
Snooker table was a nice bonus.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful. It was a little too hot and no way of cooling down
- Kristy (7/5): Lovely, clean hotel with good food and friendly staff. - Staff were great, room was large and comfortable, location was perfect, straight off the motorway but still lively and quiet. People constantly walking above our heads until gone midnight. I don't think there were rooms upstairs and it was constant, so maybe a staff room.
- Charlotte (9/5): Superb -
- David (9/5): A pleasant surprise in a newly comfortable hotel - The hotel had been upgraded by the new owners since our last visit and was greatly improved. The room was excellently decorated with comfortable bed and well appointed bathroom.
- Christopher (8/5): Very good - Very few chanels on the tv
- Lyndsay (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (5/5): Passable -
- Sheila (1/5): Bad - Didn't have breakfast, location was good We had arranged to meet relations, at the hotel, not long after they arrived, they were told to leave, as they were not residence, very disapointed
- Duncan (10/5): - Quiet and comfortable, perfect for an overnight stay.
Friendly and attentive staff too!
- Eleanor (7/5): A few small touches and the experience would have been very good. - The breakfast was amazing, especially as I am gluten free. Great quality and lots of variation. Perfectly clean, but the beds were not very comfortable and pillows were rock hard. Toiletries a bit basic. Did not feel very secure as we were told to stay in our rooms due to the police being called due to an incident in the dining room. Hot in the room and traffic noisy when windows opened.
- Lynne (10/5): Brilliant stay with lovely staff and room - Good location
Excellent staff
Bar and food good Nothing
- Jamie (8/5): Clean and tidy. - Clean and tidy. We thought £15 for the cooked breakfast was pricy considering the small portion size.
- Simpson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alison (1/5): Very uncomfortable beds. - The room was clean. The twin beds were the most uncomfortable we have ever slept in. We left early because of the beds and didn't have breakfast. We won't stay again.
