Guest Reviews
- Sheehan (9/5): - I liked that the motel was close to the town centre. I also liked that there was a restaurant attached. The food was great and the staff were very friendly.
- Steven (10/5): Clean and friendly. - This place is in a great location, close to downtown and the museum. Rooms were very clean and all the staff super friendly. By far the best value in Drumheller.
- Maryse (7/5): -
- Vivienne (7/5): - For one night the room was totally fine. It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was great. The room could use a little ronvations. But for one night totally fine.
- Bondar (9/5): -
- Ray Anthony (7/5): - The room was clean and comfortable. Also they have a nice restaurant just beside the motel. I think this place is not as bad as some people think.
- David (8/5): I would go again in that motel - Very quiet room and staff was very nice. breakfast at the near restaurant was amazing and staff there is very friendly too
- JULIO (8/5): Comfortable place within the badlands. - The motel was comfortable and conveniently located near the Tyrell museum. So, you woke up right in front of the badlands. Some things needed an upgrade or better layout; for example the table was small and not well placed; a kettle for heating water could be good.
- Perkins (9/5): Definitely worth a stay! - Quite a convenient location if you're visiting Drumheller; the attached restaurant is actually pretty solid too! But also, if you're in the mood for other food, it's a few minutes shy of a few food spots elsewhere in town. Easy checkin, easy checkout, wonderful ultimately! The tv was a bit... reluctant to connect and function- my friend managed to get it to work after some fiddling but not sure why it didn't initially. Further, coffee maker was making some very weird sounds- possibly user error, unsure. But they offered coffee at the restaurant too which was appreciated!
- Ilaria (7/5): -
- Melissa (10/5): - We loved the location, it was convenient and had a beautiful view. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and everything was in working order. The hosts were helpful and friendly, and the accomidations were affordable. The motel restaurant was charming and well decorated. We will stay here again! Nothing, our expectations were exceeded.
- Myriam (1/5): - Nothing To AVOID absolutely! No staff at the hotel reception, they didn't answer to my two cancellation requests online so they used my credit card number on Booking to steal my money! No hotel staff on site, voicebox is full, staff at the restaurant doesn't have access to the emailbox or do anything for the hotel clients. No service at all, but they take your money! The restaurant staff even raised her voice on me, that's the worst experience I've had in my life. Owner is a liar and say he'll look into that (cancellation request) but NEVER DID! He looked into taking my money though!
- Letitia (3/5): Never will we stay here again. - The restaurant was decent Our room had the grossest unwashed floor. I spilled some water and cleaned it up, the paper towel was black with filth. There was a former guests hair caked all over the shower.
- Marketa (7/5): - Location was great It was a bit dated and stale but decently clean
- Joshua (8/5): -
- Rohit (10/5): -
- TRACY (4/5): - The room was not ready when we arrived at 4 o'clock. Had to wait for it to be cleaned. Then he smell of the cleaning products were so overwhelming.
- Ferlin (7/5): - Location
- Joel (2/5): Terrible stay- no sleep due to the noises and disgust falling from the drop ceiling. - Location Rats and noises in the ceiling all night
- FATTY32 (10/5): -
- Mistickokat (10/5): - Awesome restaurant, staff is very friendly and attentive
- Lamb (7/5): Comfortable and clean - Room was clean and comfortable, but was an older Motel. However, I knew that beforehand.
- Gitte (6/5): Overall, decent value given it is the off season. Rooms just need a little TLC. - Good location, close to the Royal Tyrell Museum. Rooms need to be updated with more care. Walls aren't very thick and it's easy to hear your neighbors.
- Stuart (10/5): - This motel had a restauran,t It was really convenient and really good homemade food. The rooms are really clean too.
- Therese (8/5): - The floor was a little spongy in room 20 in the back of the room from the tub to the wall with the table but it was warm and comfy and a delightful respite.
- Adam (8/5): -
- Eva (7/5): -
- Marquis (6/5): -
- Denny (10/5): - It is a quiet. quaint. clean and basic little motel. steps away from the pancake house. stayed here a number of times and an affordable place to lay your head. not applicable
- Dustin Hugh (8/5): - Great staff great restaurant family friendly would return
- Pia (10/5): - You get a discount at their restaurant if you stay at the motel!
- Roth (8/5): -
- Mitzi (9/5): Fairly good value - The restaurant The elder bugs
- David (10/5): -
- Joshua (1/5): Don’t recommend - Not much good to say Place has become dump over the years very disappointed won’t ever book here again
- Mark (6/5): - Hot water in shower was a dribble. Shower head old and plugged up. Non-smoking rooms but smokers encouraged to smoke just outside their units so neighbouring units can’t open their windows without getting smoked out. Nice hosts, convenient location, full size fridge. We will stay elsewhere though next trip.
- brianna (10/5): - Will definitely stay again :)
- David (4/5): -
- Antonio (8/5): - Badlands motel is a pet-friendly motel right on North Dinosaur Trail which is the way to the Royal Tyrell Museum and which showcases the hoodoos of drumeller.
- Shannon (7/5): - We needed to stay for a hospital appointment. This is right next door.
- Andrews (5/5): -
- Gaby (8/5): Best choice for Drumheller - Very nice motel at perfect location for the trips round Drumheller. The view on the hoodoo landscape was very nice. Eating at the restaurant was good, the location is nicely decorated. It's not in the city center, but therefore it's more calm and you can walk (15 min) or bike easily to the city which is more relaxing than with the car because the bridge was under construction at that time. Very nice staff. Big room with 2 windows. If the breakfast were included in the price it would be perfect.
- Vanika (10/5): - Nice layout
- johnmT3645PX (2/5): Worst customer service experience of my life. - Do not reserve a room here. It's not possible to cancel it. I've tried calling and leaving messages. Used their website contact form. No response and the owner who is a real estate agent in BC will not answer the phone numbers available and does not return messages. Total scam. Today I see the charges on my credit card.
- Jan (6/5): I have always liked the Badlands Motel and hope that they will freshen it up more this winter. - The staff were friendly and helpful. They have been upgraded a bit, but the kitchenette blinds are past the need for replacement, and some fresh paint would be good. The light fixtures outside the units are nice but need spiders and webs cleaned off.
- Mistickokat (10/5): -
- Karey (6/5): A budget motel - Great restaurant with home cooked meals. It’s old - the floors squeak, the carpets need replacing, the bathrooms need serious upgrades.
- gerald (3/5): So disappointing. - The restaurant was fabulous, the food and staff exceptional. The room was not very clean. The carpet was disgustingly filthy. You had to wear your shoes if you were on the room for sanitary reasons. Stayed there three nights and had absolutely no maid service of any kind. Would NEVER stay there again. The restaurant attached to the motel had good food and great staff. Go figure?
- Krystal (10/5): -
- Nancy (4/5): - The pictures on site did not meet the reality of room 28. Onopening the door there was a musty smell. The carpets were full of stain. Not all windows opened, the air conditioner was very loud. Had coffee fixings but
no coffee pot. No toilet paper on the holder. However bed sheets were clean. We could not wait to get out of there. Will not stay again!
- Andrew (7/5): Pleasant stay. Location very good. Attached restaurant, and the food they served, was good. - Room was clean overall, except for the higher, out of reach places like top of fridge. Room decor was dated. Microwave placed on top of fridge, unplugged. Milk crates used for plastic plant stands.
- john (2/5): Disappointing - We walk and it smells of cleaning products, which we were okay with, check the sheets which were clean so we were very happy to see. We left and when we got back, the bugs came out. Place needs a deep clean, bathroom fan is disgusting, only one towel/cloth per person, carpet needs to be replaced, no hair dryer as advertised. Was a decent price but was not impressed and will not be back
- Weis (8/5): -
- Bennie (8/5): -
- Maria (8/5): Overall we were please and will book here again - Location excellent. We did not try the breakfast as we only eat once a day. Staff wonderful. Good value. The room could do with a fresh paint job.
- Lynne (4/5): -
- Kenneth (4/5): - The room was very run down and worn out.My wife started herself . It felt like there were fleas in the room of some kind.We checked everything including looking for bed bugs. The carpet was really old.The walls were dirty. The bathroom had a cement corner low to the floor by the toilet that was a hazard. This motel requires a huge upgrade and renovation.
- Colleen (10/5): - good location, quiet, manager was great, food options are good
- Pamela (9/5): Great place to stay on a budget! Clean - Great location, quiet, drive up to the door, friendly staff, comfortable beds The fan for air conditioning could have been better. One of the two did not work.
- anna (10/5): - I really nice and enjoyable stay. Very nice and helpful staff and the restaurant is a nice addition.
- Merrell Dow (4/5): - Needs to upgrade their bed,and floor carpets.looks filthy
- Minori (6/5): - Nice location and nice price Bathroom was a little bit smelly. It probably came from drain.
- Martin (7/5): -
- Man (7/5): -
- Sydney (9/5): So welcoming! - The staff were wonderful! Loved everything!
- Francie (2/5): Very disappointing - would actually like a refund for our 1 night stay over. - Have stayed here years ago- has definitely gone downhill since then.
Definitely not worth the price charged. Cleanliness, lack of quoted amenities( no coffee maker , no coffee, tea kettle but no tea, no hairdryer, TV would not work-
Massive stainage on very dirty carpet( looked like old piles of vomit had sat there at some time). General smell of old damp and mildew in the room , which worsened with the turning on of the AC unit. AC unit sounded like an old diesel truck running in the bedroom- after about 0100 I turned the unit off and thought I would open window instead- only to find the crank handle was stripped and would not open the window.
One mattress was decent 5/10 but the other was about 2/10. Even tried moving all the bedding to floor and tried to sleep there.
Fridge dripping inside with condensation but yet our bottled water was only tepid in the am, not cool at all.
Bathroom- caulking around tub stained and discoloured.
I lived in Drumheller for about 7 years ,and this hotel was a nice quaint little hotel with great breakfasts at the pancake house. We dud not even venture into the restaurant this time around.
- Amanda (10/5): Perfect stay - We really loved our stay here. The view was lovely. And the staff incredible. The restaurant was super fun and accomdating
- Ron (7/5): Badlands meets my needs. - A decent room for the price.
- Maria (2/5): - Bugs and dirty sheets. I went immediately to the office to ask for a refund. I was told that, since I booked through Expedia, I had to contact them. We left and spent the night somewhere else. I contacted Expedia but their staff was not able to get in touch with Badland, and therefore no refund.
DO not stay at Badland. It is really Bad.
- Chuck (10/5): Friendly neighbors - Location
- Kaelyn (10/5): - Nice clean rooms, good ac (especially during this heat), and kind staff. Would stay here again in the future :)
- Fisher (9/5): -
- Kaye (8/5): - It was a convenient nights stay
- Valerie (10/5): - NIce little place to stay - very clean and quiet and convenient location to visit the Tryell Museum Easy to find and we enjoyed our visit
- Cheryl (8/5): - Nice room, clean. However there was alot of (construction) garbage just lying around the property. Also didn't like that other guest could smoke right outside of your doorway. There should have been a designated smoking area so that every time I opened tthe door I didn't have smoke coming into the room. Bathroom caulking needs redoing
- R&R (6/5): - It was nice to find out upon arrival that we got upgraded to a suite. It gave us a kitchenette and a full fridge/freezer for our ice packs and a bed for each of our kids, but it was on a second level with a narrow staircase so moving things up/down was tricky. The carpet looked dirty and the building in general looked quite old. We took comfort in knowing we'd only spent one night here and the price was affordable. The location was conveniently north of the Michichi Creek, away from the busy-ness of downtown Drumheller and easy to head up to the museum in the morning.
- TREVOR (5/5): It was ok and represented fair value for money - Room was clean, beds were comfortable The place has seen better says. Rather a run-down feel to it.
- Shelly (6/5): - Close to all activities and Wiffs Restaurant was great.
- Larry (6/5): - Easy check in and the room was nice and clean. Great location and it was nice to have a fridge with a freezer. Coffee maker and bed sucked as well the cleaning staff start cleaning very early and it disrupts sleep.
- Stephanie (8/5): - Clean but dated. Exactly what I expected for the location, age and price.
They just need to take out the ancient carpets and install some laminate, and update the mattresses. Typical motel vibes. Very quiet. Windows open easily and let in a great cross breeze, and our doors locked securely. I'd stay here again, especially if they got firmer mattresses.
- Jen (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful view of the badlands from our suite door! Staff was really nice, room was super clean and well stocked. At one point we accidentally locked ourself out of the room and even though it was after office hours, someone came and let us back in really quickly and was so cool about it..thanks again we loved our stay!!
- Nicole (7/5): -
- Verified traveler (4/5): Pick somewhere else in Drumheller! - Rooms were dirty, shower was broken, and the AC wasn’t working. The restaurant was ok.
- Vera (10/5): - Basic but clean and comfortable.
The Whifs was amazing both staff, value and service.
- Karen (8/5): -
- Sarah Anne (6/5): - Conveniently located a short drive from the Royal Tyrell Museum and an easy 1km walk into the Drumheller town, passing the giant dinosaur and fossil shops. The room itself was dated and the floors grubby, but the beds were clean and the unit was spacious. We were travelling with an elderly family member and she struggled to walk up the stairs to the unit. Our downstairs and next door neighbours were very loud. Would recommend the WHIFS restaurant attached to the motel- tasty breakfast with decent portion sizes and a cute train that goes around the room.
- Laetitia (7/5): Emplacement central pour visiter les environs de Drumheller. - Très bon emplacement pour visiter Drumheller
La cuisine dans la suite familiale est très pratique. La propreté des ustensiles de cuisine.
Assez vétuste
- Ashton (7/5): - We liked the suit as it was perfect for a family of 4 and the location made it easy to get to the things we wanted to see on our short stay. The bed left comfort to be desired but the rest was great.
- Judy (6/5): Won’t be back - Beds were uncomfortable and wore out. Turning in bed created large amount of noise. Motel in dire need of repair and upgrades
- Tammy (7/5): Badlands Motel - It has a great view of the badlands. There is a restaurant right on site. The room smelled very moldy. When we got there, it took a while for the smell to go away. The air conditioner didn't work that well, and it was hot. The floor fan that was in the room was making a very loud noise.
Normally, when we stay there, we are on the other side of the motel, and I have never had an issue with the other side of the Motel.. It was ok this time, but I will make sure next summer when we go, to ask for the other side..
- Linda (10/5): - Our room was very clean but rather dated like a motel often is. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was fantastic. Overall a good stay.
- Linda (6/5): -
- Heather (6/5): -
- Lois (9/5): - It was close to the attractions, and the restaurant is very good.
- Amanda (9/5): Great location! - The location worked great for us! It was only a 20 minute walk to the bottom of downtown and it was easy to get to the Royal Tyrell Museum in the car. The suite was well appointed, if a little dated, but the fan and air conditioning worked even in the high August temperatures. The restaurant on the same site had great food.
- Sharon (5/5): Will not return to Booking.com. When arrived were told reservation had been cancelled. It was not! - It was less expensive motel so were expecting it to be what it was. Booking.com cancelled our booking so when we arrived were told there was no reservation though I had emailed Booking.com the day before and received a confirmation of email receipt and of booking. Bad bad service. However the location did all they could to accommodate us I reserved the room in June. When one of the ocupentents arrive were told the reservation had been cancelled. On the Thursday before, August 8, I emailed Booking .com through the confirmation of booking email that one occupant would arrive before I did and to please charge the room to my credit card and to let her in. I received a confirmation of receipt of my email. When friend arrived she was told the reservation had been cancelled and I had received and confirmation of cancellation email. I did not! Bad bad service. The location was very helpful and gave us a room, thank goodness!
- Jutta (1/5): Einmal und nie wieder - Absolut renovierungsbedürftig, flackerndes Licht, TV out of order, Waschbecken und Badewanne rostig.....
- Molly (8/5): -
- Timothy (6/5): - AC older, noisy
