Guest Reviews
- dfN7436GG (10/5): Truly a great place! - We recently spent an evening at the Twin Lakes Inn. The inside looked nice in the pictures but was way cuter in person! The rooms are darling and it is kept very clean. The dining room is very rustic and inviting, the bar area very cool, very nice fireplace and the sitting area looking outside was the best. It is decorated perfectly and the food was excellent. Since the weather came in on the day of our arrival it gave us the opportunity to sit, relax and take in the views . I must say, we did not have the best customer service in other towns. While I relaxed at the inn, I I was able to observe the staff. They were so happy, friendly and got along great with each other. they truly make a great team. You can tell when it’s sincere. These are good people! We ended our visit waking up to 2 to 3 inches of snow. The views were breathtaking. That is truly God‘s country. Cannot wait to go back.
- John (8/5): - Great Staff! Shout out to Andy! Beautiful location, great room and of course, the people that work there!
- Merlyn (8/5): - Great view of the aspens turning gold.
- Jodi (4/5): - This is an 1800 era brothel that they have made into a motel. It is VERY old. We sleep in a taco mattress,
- Kim (10/5): - Delightful and unique Inn.
- Liping (10/5): - Very friendly family business. The staff is responsive and kind. The room is clean.
- Sasha (10/5): - Beautiful small town in breathtaking scenery. The staff were warm and friendly, the rooms cozy and clean and the food was incredible. I would definitely recommend! Definitely do the Interlaken trail! Stunning and varied hike.
- TimothyG1473 (8/5): A great change from corporate hotel chains! - Greatly enjoyed staying here for 2 nights, and eating here too - hadn't expected to the second night but they readily fitted us in, even though they were really busy. Location is stunning, so I was up before sunrise with the camera! The writers' room was a bit cramped but was very quiet. We'd definitely return.
- Merry (10/5): - I take a yearly trip to the Twin Lakes Inn the first week in October. It is a great place to get away and relax, hike, experience the outdoors and friendly people there. Staff is always quite helpful. It is easy to meet the guests and residents as well.
- CosmopolitG (6/5): Historic Building - Pros:
- clean room
- free parking
Cons:
- longer time to wait for check-in (Staff was busy with serving meals)
- too expensive for what has been offered
- restaurant closes at 08:00 p.m. (highlighted as in this area, there is no alternative for dinner)
The Inn itself dates from 1879 which means that the rooms, in particular bathrooms, are smaller than what you expect today. Some rooms do even not have a bathroom/toilet for which reason you have to leave your room.
On next morning, no staff was in the hotel (round about 08:30 a.m.) as the Inn was closed on this day.
Just for information purposes: as this is a historic building, it has no elevator.
- doccoach (10/5): What a beautiful spot - What a great find!… my wife and I stayed two nights in the Partner suite ( king bed super comfy, big room and big bathroom). They remodeled this from 2012 so now there are 7 rooms , not 14….. maybe because the restaurant needed the space which has awesome dinners….the inn is right across from Twin Lakes and we also took the interlaced boat tour across the lake which was beautiful. Twin lakes village is a small village but has hikers, biker, fishers, paddle-boarders, canoeists and more. We’ll be back.
We live in Windsor colorado so after visiting Leadville it’s 20 minutes to Twin Lakes Inn, only 3 hours from home
- carolyn (6/5): - Location
- Kristina (8/5): - If you want to experience a modernized historical property this is a good place. No TV, which was fine because we were there to hike, not sit in the room. It was odd that absolutely no staff seemed to be on the property Wednesday night through Thursday morning which was a little disconcerting. Also there was no dead bolt for the door. But it was clean and spacious. The restaurant Tuesday night provided a good meal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely location, clean and cozy. The antithesis of the generic roadside motel, the inn is charming and a bit of a throwback - in a really comfortable and homey sort of way. (e.g., no TV but a small common room equipped with books and games).
- sandysK5136LT (10/5): Wonderful surprise find! - Such a cute place to stay, great service, rooms were nicely decorated and all necessary amenities were included. The dinner was excellent, we had the salmon and the shrimp linguine special and they were delicious! Good hiking nearby. Definitely highly recommended, we'll be back!
- Lucy (10/5): - This place is a gem. It's throw back in time. Get the Partners Suite on the first floor for the best room in the house.
- SeeAndDoFamily (10/5): Great experience at Twin Lakes Inn - At the base of independence pass with amazing views all around.
While this place may not be for everyone we absolutly loved our stay. It is an old Inn built back in the 1850's. It has been maintained beautifully but still has a rustic feel. There is some great history about the "working women" that used some of the rooms back in the day. The restaurant was amazing. Surprised how busy it is given that it is off the beaten path. Also strongly recommend the coffeeshop next door. It's about half way between Buena Vista and Leadville. So for a day of shopping in Leadville and then a day at hot springs in Buena Vista with relaxing mornings on the porch of the coffee shop and fine dining before bed it's just perfect. Highly recommend.
- Safari21076849195 (10/5): A memorable place - If you love history and rustic you will love this place. I am glad this building is saved. It has so much history. We stayed in two different rooms and both were great. One had a bath in the room and the other one had a bath down the hall. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was available anytime after 11:00 pm. They get it ready the night before which is great for early risers. Appreciated the fresh strawberries and kuerig coffee. You can dine there on certain days and the food and drinks are really good. There are large windows overlooking the lake. You can hike to the historic Interlaken home across the lake. Not much to the town but it is very memorable. The manager/part owner Andy makes it all happen. Super nice and helpful. It's one of the few cool places left where you can get a parking spot. Go there before it gets discovered.
- Margine and Greg (10/5): - Great little gem to have a nice get away. Not far from trails, water and other small towns. No TV or radios in the room, great way to disconnect. You can always go downstairs and just talk and watch. Really thoughtful on the morning continental breakfast. Just a beautiful place to relax at.
- Nancy (10/5): - Very cute inn built in 1879, so old but nice with all the amenities. Very clean room. Staff was lovely and dinner was good. All around nice stay.
- elizabethsexton (10/5): Can’t Wait to Go Again! - Loved this inn! I visited with a few friends for a fun Fall weekend getaway! The food was AMAZING 😍! I recommend everything, especially the fresh cookies at the front desk.
The inn is super cozy. It was fun to sit in the lobby and restaurant to play board games at night. The owner and staff were super nice and made sure we had everything we needed.
There are great hikes a short walk or drive away. Definitely check out the cute general store next door!
I would definitely stay here again!
- rondaf931 (10/5): Great weekend getaway! - What a comfy and cozy inn in a beautiful location! Andy the owner made sure we had everything we could possibly need. There was every kind of toiletry you could imagine available for our free use, even toothbrushes. I was with a large group of friends, some stayed in private bathroom rooms but I stayed in a room with the bathroom down the hall and it was not a big deal at all. Robes are provided in the rooms, too. We are a few meals in the Inn’s restaurant and couldn’t believe how delicious the food was, especially for a restart in a tiny town like Twin Lakes. I highly recommend stopping here for a couple of nights while traveling through Colorado. Great hikes and bike trails all over that take off right from the inn.
- colleenc78 (10/5): Hidden gem - Wonderful atmosphere and beautiful setting across from Twin Lakes. Everyone is very kind, attentive and hard-working! Enjoyed the ambience and quaint bedroom -- and special little touches made me feel at home.
Ate dinner in the lovely and homey restaurant -- and it is all 5-star food and reasonable priced. Server Mylinda is beyond amazing! She is very personable, knowledgeable, always has a smile. If I were still in my working days and hiring folks, I would steal her away from Twin Lakes.
.
- Wahoo89 (10/5): Awesome resting location to take in the aspens - Inn is right across the street from Twin Lakes. Enjoyed dinner at a picnic table viewing the aspens and mountains, couldn't have had a better view! Our room (2 double beds) was clean and comfortable. Short walk down the hall was our large, clean, well supplied private bathroom - even had robes for two people. Staff was super friendly and helpful in recommending the best hike we've ever done. Wasn't planning on hiking Mount Elbert but after the description from the front desk personnel, we started out for a partial hike that morning. Hiking through the huge aspen stands was magical and the views of the surrounding mountains, lakes and aspen stands you have while hiking were amazing
I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm visiting the area! Thank you for a wonderful experience Twin Lakes Inn!
- Michael (10/5): - Great staff and services.
- Byron (10/5): - A unique and historical hotel in a great location.
- Michele (10/5): Awesome spot. - We really enjoyed our two night stay. The place is uniquely charming - it combines some of the decor of a European alpine refuge with the quality of a great bed and breakfast . Needless to say - room and bathroom were squeaky clean. Excellent restaurant and super friendly staff!
- Colona1988 (8/5): Dinner with a view of the mountains - I am reviewing the restaurant, which I highly recommend. Almost all the seats have a view of the mountains of Twin Lakes which complements the rustic appearance of the building. The food was delicious: pan-seared duck (lots of it!) and stuffed trout. My husband had been looking forward to the fish and really enjoyed it. (They had run out of walleye just as we were seated.) Our dessert was blueberry pana cotta which was light and rich at the same time. Our drinks were just right and the waitress was both chatty and efficient. We were exhausted by flying all day and changing time zones, and the restaurant at Twin Lakes Inn was just the right way to end the day.
- 142walth (10/5): A Gem - Twin Lakes Inn is a gem. Clean, comfortable and cozy... In a perfect location. The owner is attentive and caring. The staff friendly and engaged. The amenities are lovely. The food is awesome. We can't wait to go back.
- BobandJuan (10/5): Third time this year - My husband and I just returned from our third stay at the Twin Lakes Inn this year. Once again we thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable (heat works beautifully). We had a good view and our own bathroom. We ate in the on-site restaurant two of the nights and had two great meals. The cooks are the best and the waitresses fun and efficient. Andy, as always, was helpful and friendly. We can't wait to get back there.
- Daamander (10/5): Our favorite place to stay in our favorite Mountain town - We’ve stayed at the Inn twice now and we’ve had nothing but great experiences! It’s conveniently located a short drive to the Mt. Elbert South Trailhead. Andy, the innkeeper is warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, weather, and hiking conditions. The Inn staff is friendly and accommodating to their guests by helping make dinner arrangements in the restaurant and providing grab and go breakfast and other options for early hikers if needed.
Our room and bathroom were sparkling clean and comfortable and exactly what we needed after an exhausting day in the mountains. Finally, the restaurant is a great place to have some delicious food and some drinks after a long day in the great outdoors.
Thank you for the fantastic hospitality, Twin Lakes Inn. We will absolutely
be back!
-Amanda & Joe
- erina896 (10/5): Friendly, welcoming place to truly unwind. - I had driven by Twin Lakes Inn with mild curiosity for years on my way to "bag a peak" or raft the river. I had a hunch it would be the perfect place to get away for a few days with a friend this summer.
I sunk into the experience right away with the comfort of a super friendly staff, great food and service and a cozy, quaint room surrounded by little bits of history. The inn itself has an inviting, relaxing vibe and we felt right at home.
The activities around the area are plenty. We ran, hiked and rented some paddle boards a few feet out the front door for a pristine day on the lake. The views are unbeatable and plentiful.
I hesitate to make the place too popular, because I want to be sure I get a room the next time I'm in town! If you want a place near some 14ers, some fishing or boating, or just to be with the mountains and some friendly people, I highly recommend!
- barbaranN7272RY (10/5): Not just lodging--an experience! - First, this is Twin Lakes, Colorado. Adjust your expectations. Tiny, rustic, a base camp for outdoor adventure. The Twin Lakes Inn is perfect. My room was comfortable, clean, furnished attractively, and complete with supplies and goodies we have learned not to expect. Andrew at the front desk is a Twin Lakes guru. You can ask him anything. Breakfast snacks and coffee each morning push this 1879 inn over the edge of excellence. I will return!
- BobandJuan (10/5): Historic and comfortable - My husband and I just spent two nights at the Twin Lakes Inn in Twin Lakes Village, Colorado. The Inn had just reopened as allowed by the State of Colorado. They had taken a great deal of care to make sure that all was extremely clean and that social distancing was easy. We were upgraded to a room with bath as there was only one other guest. All was extremely comfortable and the food in the on site restaurant was top notch. Andy, the host, was more than accommodating in every way. The village is very historic and Andy provided a good map of the houses in town with pertinent information.
- supandcycle (10/5): Hidden Gem, Super Friendly Staff - Diverse menu with amazing food! Lodging is above the Saloon & the mountain views are amazing. I couldn't be more impressed. Professionally operated, the manager is outstanding. I highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - History. Comfy sheets! Neat.Good breakfast.Good
..
- Verified traveler (10/5): - LOVED IT. Great location, good price. Should really consider staying here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This place is fantastic. Highly recommend. What a great old space and fantastic food
- Rob (10/5): - Incredibly kind staff, tasty food, great vibe, beautiful locale
- cornerstone1979 (10/5): Random Find / Extraordinary Experience - Randomly found Twin Lakes Inn when I was looking for a place to stay between the Sand Dunes and Glennwood Springs. This historical place is at the base of Mount Elbert and offers a great stopping point before driving Independence Pass. The staff was incredible and extremely friendly. Its was a great way for us to step away from the standard hotel chains and discover a true Colorado experience. One of the owners took time to help us find the most scenic route to Glennwood Springs and then to Estes Park. He even showed up the next morning and had it all planned out before we left. If you are looking for a truly original experience then this is the place for you. I cannot imagine how unbelievable this experience would be in the snow fall. Our only regret is that we did not visit the General Store next door. This place is highly recommended.
- KandCtraveling (10/5): the Inn and restaurant are both great - I also reviewed the restaurant, but the Inn itself is very nice. It was clean and comfortable. The building is obviously VERY old but well maintained. Our room was furnished with antiques and rustic items, the attached bath was well stocked with good towels and everything else we needed (and then some!). The manager, Andy, was very nice and a pleasure to talk with. He said they are closing soon for winter but I would highly recommend this place - both for an overnight and dinner. Excellent stay all around
- Verified traveler (6/5): Mt Elbert climb - Andy the inn keeper was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff is sincere in their hospitality. The location is excellent for trips to view scenery. Their restaurant meal would match any metropolitan fancy experience. We arranged our Colorado trip specifically to spend two nights with this staff and this lodge
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved the time my husband and I were there. The staff were super nice, the food delicious and the hotel is very cozy. Definitely we will go back.
- Caren (10/5): A great location to do lots of site-seeing - Low key, away from the crowds. Super friendly staff. Fantastic food, including Chef made breakfast quiche. Overall great stay. Very unique experience.
- Myron (8/5): Very good restaurant, - Beautiful place, very friendly staff, older, Very good restaurant, needed some air conditioning because it was summertime.
- Chris (10/5): Twin Lakes Inn Visit - Very fun experience of "going back in time." The food was amazing, also!
- Thomas (10/5): We will be back! - Loved the ambience of this Inn, which was built in 1879. One of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed. Owners and staff clearly take great pride in the product they deliver to guests. We will be back
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Secure bike storage, early breakfast for those looking for an early start, super accommodating to outdoor enthusiasts.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely get away for us! Historic hotel in a beautiful location. Rooms are very small, and the building is very old, but to us that was all part of the charm. Food was delicious !
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Charming property with a quaint feel for the West and the past. We enjoyed the experience including dining there. Very personable service. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Roughed Hotel - My room was small with a low ceiling. The breakfast is more of a continental breakfast. Walls were very thin; we could hear the next door people coughing. Hotel rooms was clean. Bed was comfortable. Beautiful view.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Slice of well maintained history. Clean and very friendly helpful staff. Owner on location.
- Barbara (10/5): - Awesome experience! Kitchen staff and front desk staff were personable and very accommodating.
- Scott (10/5): - Owners very friendly, dinner with a great view, trails outside are beautiful day or night, offered useful advice about the road over the pass to Aspen.
- Toni (10/5): Relaxing and interesting. - We loved our stay at the Twin Lakes Inn. The building and environs were charming. The rustic decor brought me right back to my summer camp days. The hubby loved all the historical aspects. The customer service was top notch. The food in their restaurant was good. Lots of beautiful vistas in every direction, both from the car and along the nearby trails. We hope to return!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The ONLY bad thing was that the water temperature changed a bit in the shower when someone else flushed the toilet etc.
What do you expect when the place was built in the 1800's? LOL...Awesome place with lots of character.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was quite the experience, in a positive way, this inn is in town that has 28 residence, so if you blink you will miss it, and we did, had to turn around. This is very secluded, but clean and quite place, you forget that is 2019. The beds were comfy and we shared a bathroom, so at night I had to go out to use the bathroom in the hallway, no big deal nobody was wake anyway. The breakfast was pretty poor, bagels and cereal, but they had some good quality and selection of teas. Hummingbirds everywhere enjoying the feeders on the front porch, very cute.
- Kk (10/5): - Good place to stay while exploring the near by mountains.
- Faye (10/5): Friendly historic hotel - Historic hotel with lots of character, updated with today's amenities. Rooms are small- also noted in description - but well appointed with comfortabl bed. Bathrooms are shared as advertised but well stocked with all you'll need. Staff are super friendly. Good dinner menu well prepared. Setting is beautiful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Felt very welcome Staff was very friendly made some new friends
- Riana (10/5): Love Twin Lakes Inn - I loved staying at Twin Lakes Inn. All the staff was amazing, especially Andy. I was kind enough to run home and lend me a cable to charge my Garmin, and a socked to charge my phone. The restaurant as always was great. Twin Lakes Inn has the best hamburgers. Great place to stay for a visit, and location wise very good if you plan on climbing Mount Elbert.
- Arthur (10/5): - Staff, amenities, and food were excellent.
- Andrew (10/5): - Great spot. Historic and rural setting. Would stay again!
- James (10/5): Great place to stay. - Restaurant is great. The staff is polite and friendly and the Inn is super clean. Plus there are tons of trails to hike. Take a trip to Independence Pass or the Maroon Bells as well.
- Ward (10/5): - Everything about this place, was just great.
Food was excellent too!
- Eric (10/5): - Spent a night in the mountains doing some fall photography during a visit to my family in Denver. Beautiful location, comfortable room, friendly staff, excellent meal. Really enjoyed my stay!
- Anne (10/5): Wonderful by any measure - Good bed, fine shower, friendly and efficient staff. Perfect location for exploring that interesting and beautiful area. Bonus: fabulous food!
- Zaccariah (10/5): Coming back soon. - Perfect little place to stay before a big hike. Nice packed breakfast as well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Needed a place close to Mt Sherman so we could make our 6 AM climb without having to make the long drive from East Denver. Very charming Inn , clean and comfortable and quiet . staff was friendly and accommodating. Would have liked to stay longer to enjoy dinner and town .
- lou (10/5): - nice country inn.. B and B.. good location.. beautiful location.. wow
- David (10/5): - Friendly and helpful staff. Nice room with comfortable bed. Great view and delicious breakfast.
- Archie (6/5): - The restaurant at the inn is great. There is an interesting tour on the lake.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful old hotel in Twin Lakes reservoir and close enough to Leadville and Aspen Colorado. Most rooms had shared bathrooms but it was no problem. Will for sure stay again.
- Georgs (8/5): - Wonderful historic hotel run by nice folks who care.
- heidi (8/5): - Loved the massage on site and the staff was very friendly.
- Nancy (10/5): Restful and Beautiful - We slept very well, enjoyed the room, spent time outdoors, and enjoyed a good breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It really was a great place to stay in prep for a 14er hike, would recommend
- 1950nana (8/5): Good stop on a long trip - The hotel was interesting as was the area and history. The room was too small for the size of the bed, although the bed itself was comfortable. It was very hard to get around it. The bathroom needs some work.
- giovanni (10/5): Great people working there, - Great owners, good people working on the faciloty, really an old fashion place where you can discover the western taste
- Claire (10/5): - The hotel is located no more than 2 miles from the South Estes trailhead. It's the perfect location to have a nice sleep prior to hiking. The view of the lake is beautiful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): great place to stay - We were there before LT 100. The town itself is very small. The room and the bathroom was clean and neat. We had our dinner there which the food was great! breakfast was little simple but good. We talked to Doug and his wife. They are very friendly. Bed are comfortable! love the bird house they have. Enjoy watching the bird eating while i am having my dinner! great view for the mountain from the Inn
- Stephen (10/5): Great mountain inn! - What a quaint, charming place in one of the most beautiful areas of the country! Great restaurant and the people were super helpful. I was leaving very early in the morning to hike one of the area 14ers and they prepared a "hiker's breakfast" for me in advance and left it in the refrigerator for me. Loved this place!
- Leslie (8/5): - Twin Lakes is beautiful and Twin Lakes Inn is a great way to connect with Colorado's colorful history. Great staff. Great service.
- Gloria (10/5): - The owners were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. Looking forward to going again.
- Riannon (6/5): - No tv in room. Dinner had very limited options and outrageously overpriced.
- Jimbo (10/5): Quaint and nice - Loved our stay. Room was nice, clean, quiet. Staff were exceptionally nice.
- Ron (10/5): Love this charming In and it's staff .... - Have been returning to this gracious and beautiful spot for over two years now. This place, and this ambience is a treasure. Andy, the Gen. Mgr. is a joy, and as accomodating as he can be. My partner and I have grown to appreciate, and even love him as a friend.
If you've not blessed yourself with a stay at this lovely place... all I can say is sorry for yiur great loss.. and "shame on you" for not spoiling yourself! This is a true "rustic" irreplaceable find. You Will Not Be Disapponinted unless you're to stuffy to know what's good for you!
- Heather (10/5): Cute Inn in a peaceful location - The Inn was full of character and charm. Much different than your typical hotel, each room had personal touches that made it feel more like you were a guest in a friend's home. All of the staff were extremely friendly, and the food was delicious!
- C Pat (4/5): Not a Comfortable Stay - More like a hotel without a lot of amenities rather than what you would expect from a B & B. We chose to stay because it has a wonderful historical story. However, the building needs work such as evening out the floors which are all slanted. Staff was pleasant and breakfast was fine. The mattresses need to be replaced- soft and lumpy. The pillows were foam. Each room has enough room for a bed and dresser only. We had a private bath with a broken shower door but other rooms had to share a bathroom.
The restaurant was excellent and available 5-8 pm. The bar is open at 2 pm. and has the only tv available. There is a patio for sitting outside in nice weather but unfortunately it was too cool to sit out for very long. The lobby had a couch and there is a library that seats 4 people. Since there is 14 rooms, there is not enough seating for the clientele. We went to the library in Leadville when it started to rain.
- Alexander (10/5): Accommodating staff and cozy stay! - I have never experienced a friendlier group of people! This place is timeless and the staff are on stand-by ready to assist with anything and everything. I will go out of my way to stay here again if I find myself in the Leadville/TwinLakes area.
- Terry (10/5): Remote mountain hideaway. - This is an historic inn that is very well restored and impeccably clean. It is in a remote, beautiful location on the Leadville side of Independence Pass. The restaurant is excellent, but has a simple menu. The free breakfast is excellent and includes a hot dish. The rooms do not have tv or phones, but there is free WiFi. The owners are warm, hospitable people with a genuine interest in the happiness of their guests.
- Gail (10/5): Best find in cute town near all adventure - Picked this hotel for its location to the rafting trip, my best friend and I were taking. Amazing find. The town is cute and everyone is friendly. Loved everything about the hotel, from the very tasty food, extremely comfy beds and super nice staff. We weren't aware we needed dinner reservations, but they made room for us anyway. We were given great advice on hiking and tours in the area. I will definitely return, just to stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quaint setting with nice views. Rooms were very tiny and we had to cross the hall to use the bathroom, which turned out to be okay, as they provided robes. We tried the restaurant in the evening and were slightly disappointed in the food. The fried green tomatoes were drowning in goat cheese, which is all you could taste. Desk personnel and breakfast personnel were super friendly.
- Lynne (8/5): Perfect Place to stay when hiking in the area - Super cute unique historic inn, delicious food, friendly knowledgeable hosts, great choice as a place to rest up before a climb and then to recoup after :-)
- Gwen (10/5): Cute, Comfortable, and very friendly - I stayed here one night to see my son off to college. I'll be staying here whenever I visit. The owners are lovely, the rooms quiet, clean and cozy. Lovely views!
- C. JONATHAN (10/5): Get-away gem - Very nice overnight stay in a most beautiful location in the heart of the Rockies, great food, very personable staff. Great place for a get-away.
- Billie (10/5): Loved the place. - We were biking a loop from the Eagle airport to Aspen to Twin Lakes to Breckenridge and back to the Eagle airport. The places in Aspen and Breckinridge were fancy. This place wasn't quite as fancy, but that's ok. We loved it. The food was great and the hosts were very, very nice. In some ways, it reminded me of one of the lodges near the Grand Canyon. We would be very happy to stay there again if we ever pass through the area.
- Mike (10/5): Cool and authentic hotel in a beautiful setting - After spending several days in Estes Park, Boulder and Greeley, I am REALLY glad I made the effort to drive down to Twin Lakes and heartily recommend the Twin Lakes Inn to anyone who does not want the normal sterile, boxy hotel where you don’t talk with anyone. It is cool and authentic in that the rooms are like an old European-style hotel with shared bathrooms and the lobby, restaurant, library/sitting room are all seriously rustic (but clean) timber. It is also cool and authentic in the hotel and restaurant staff, who are all fairly young, unassuming but VERY professional and attentive, and have lived in the area for a while. I appreciated the advice I got on fishing nearby streams and lakes and climbing Mount Elbert. I also appreciated the chance to hang out in the rustic bar and enjoy regional IPAs while talking with several of the nice staff. The steak and crabcake dinner I had in the restaurant was excellent and the free breakfast was good. The dozens of hummingbirds buzzing incessantly outside the large windows that line the front of the Inn were wonderful. After dinner, I walked out past the historic Twin Lakes settlement buildings to a grassy area away from Route 82. Taking in the panorama of mountains, light, water, grasses…. was simply awesome. Between the mountains, the light and the clouds, it was a spiritual experience for a guy who doesn’t talk about spiritual experiences.
- Norma (10/5): Great location. - The purpose of our trip was to hike Mt. Elbert. The location was perfect. The staff, especially Andy, were awesome.
