It felt like staying in a peaceful mountain retreat where - What I loved the most was the atmosphere and kindness of the owners. The place felt authentic, cozy, and surrounded by nature – seeing the animals around made it even more special:) Honestly, there wasn’t much to dislike. If anything, some people might find it a bit too rural, but for us that was part of the charm

Kyle (10/5): A cozy village with a lovely atmosphere. - Loved our stay at Carinya Village. The rooms are good value for money and the staff are so kind and helpful. The first day we had a minor issue with the fridge, but they were so quick to give us a new fridge for our food. We stayed in a beautiful and cozy cabin situated just above a river walk and we also had a fire pit outside. The cabin had 2 air cons which kept us so warm and the couches were comfy too. If you’re a group of snowboarders just wanting to kick back with a chill vibe after hitting the slopes all day, Carinya is your place! My friends and I had a great time and we will definitely be back again and again for the coming seasons. Thank you! :) - Allexis and Kyle
Christian (5/5): Comfortable but disappointed for the price we paid. - Room size. Heating. Parking Lack of WiFi. We were told it was patchy. But overall we only had WiFi for 30mins of our entire stay if that. Sheets were dirty on my side of the bed, stained. Floor flexed a lot under our feet in certain areas infront of bed/bathroom.. general patches/painting/up keep of room was poor.

Afiq (9/5): Pleasant - I like that the property is a bit isolated, quiet and peaceful. My room is complete with bathroom and kitchen, and they are all clean. One of the staff gave me fresh eggs for me to cook!
Lisa (5/5): Nice, out of the way quiet stay despite being all but closed for the summer. - The setting was woodsy and nice. The owners were friendly and accommodating. Room wasn't anything fancy and property reminded me of a kids camp, but adequate for our needs; just passing through. We had an issue in the room that night and the owners were responsive and addressed the issue; appreciate that. We were one of the last of the season so the kitchen was closed for the most part, but they still offered made-to-order dinner, which was outstanding. Lovely panoramic view at the top of their hill. Also, the hill behind appears to be a kanga hangout if you're like us Alaskans who really want to see one. Would be nice to have a window in the room. Shower had all kinds of gadgets that didn't work well, but the main shower head worked so it was fine. Room was tiny, but most bookings listings show the dimensions so can't complain if we agreed to rent it.

Some facilities in the play room were not working, I called the staff and he said he would come straight away to have a look. But I had been waiting for 1 hour - no one came. I felt quite disappointing. If he couldn't come, he would tell me so I didn't have to wait. The kitchen was full of stuff to use, but the dishes were not clean. The sleeping blanket smelled like it hadn't been washed for long. I don't think I would come back next time.

simin (2/5): The owners must be blind or used to living in dirty places - Relatively cheap in general but in considering the quality and facilities pretty expensive for what it is - box with bunk beds (which was fine) but unclean bathroom, never cleaned before game room from 50 years ago, disgusting communal kitchen with unplugged fridge and possum poo all over cutleries in the open) Most things Very dirty communal area. Game room looked like it hadnt been cleaned in decades. Mismatched old furniture, broken class. Vaccum in the middle with nothing actually vacummed. Very disgusting communal kitchen. Fridge was unplugged and cups and cutlery were out in the open covered in possum poo. Restaurant kitchen was very unhygienic. If nsw health department visited here, the place would be shut down. Dirty bathroom, smelled like curry and toilet door wouldnt close. Bathroom water was only cold, wouldnt drain and was yellow. Rental snow gear was outside and stray cats were sitting on them when we arrived. The owners should be embarrassed for putting these accommodation up. Everytime their reviews get down to under 6, they remove their booking.com ad and replace it to start over. They dont seem to understand that to get good reviews they actually need to be good.
Mark (10/5): - Super helpful staff went above and beyond to make our stay easy and comfortable. Being able to rent simple, reliable snow gear directly from Carinya at a very decent rate took a lot of hassle out of our trip. Room was clean and quiet and we loved the bonfire, but the unexpected gem was the restaurant where the friendly, easygoing staff fed us delicious, traditional Indian food at about half the price of what we'd pay in Canberra or Sydney. Thanks team, we'll be back!

Louise (2/5): - This place is hilariously bad it felt like an abandoned school camp in a horror movie or something. We stayed in a two person bunk room where the heating didn't work (eventually worked out this was because the filter hasn't been cleaned in probably years so was just blowing cold air until removed), and if you want to use the toilet or shower you have to walk outside in 0 degrees into a freezing cold shed with a single shower and toilet. The area outside this shed smelt horribly like sewerage. Since we were freezing we thought we'd go hang out in the advertised room with fireplace but there is no wood or anything to light fire with so it was also freezing. This was also about 200m walk across a muddy paddock to get to. Also no staff on site that we saw at all during our stay. If you want to cook food there is a single microwave outside also 200m across the paddock. The room had a mini fridge but it froze everything inside it solid so I had to throw out the salad and vegetables. If I stayed here again it would only be in one of the self contained cabins not the bunk room which was equivalent to camping but a lot more expensive. At least we got a laugh about how strange the place was. I think it was probably great 40yrs ago and left to go downhill since.
Yus (4/5): - The property was quiet as it is out of town. They provide good wi-fi as there is no mobile phone coverage. The room itself was as advertised, but the facilities advertised in the listing clearly stated private bathroom. There was only a public bathroom which was a tin shed with a toilet cubicle & a shower cubicle in each of the men's & women's. The water to the handbasins & the drinking water taps froze overnight so there was no access to water from these taps.

It was really disappointing Power points didn’t work. TV only had 1 channel. Floorboards loose in areas. Amateur paint job. Smell of sewage outside. Junk and building material etc

Charles (6/5): Good value for money in a nice spot, but some imperfections and really poor internet connectivity - This is a good location and we got a very good price for 3 nights in a good part of the season (less than $600 for two people). It's a nice setting, and not a long drive to Bullocks Flat (Skitube) - about 20-25 minutes. There are meal options available including breakfast (and I think dinner?) but we ate elsewhere. The room had thin walls, and wasn't well insulated. A light was flickering (fixed quickly when we mentioned it). The bathroom was able to be locked from the outside so that you couldn't open it from the outside without a key which we did not have - when we discovered the door locked and explained to reception they gave us the wrong advice (but ultimately maintenance came quickly to hack the lock). The shower curtain was not long enough and water leaked onto the bathroom floor. The room and bathroom feel a bit roughly finished with smears of sealant (for example). We received an 'upgrade' which we were told was worth over $200 and 'so please give us a good review' - but an upgrade is just more beds which is worth nothing if there are only two of you, and I would rather not be asked to give a good review unless I have already proffered praise! The internet was almost useless - we could occasionally connect but not reliably. Fine if you want a weekend away from social media and movies, but not otherwise!
James (8/5): Unexpectedly fun stay in quirky place. I’ll be back. - It’s quirky- but a fun place to stay. My room was small but functional. Bonus was the restaurant that served up a fantastic authentic Indian (as well as offering the usual). Wasn’t expecting much when I booked, but really enjoyed myself. Was just a solo trip this time, but a good chance I’ll come back with the family- I think my boys would enjoy the old games room.

Rebecca (1/5): Don’t bother. It’s out of town, dirty, old and I can’t believe they are allowed to have guests stay. There should be a b - The property is unkept and old. Everything is outdated and there is a smell that is just awful. The layout of the rooms is so bizarre and they told us we had been given an upgrade- you walked straight into the toilet and wash basin. Then into the room and then around the corner was the oldest and dirtiest shower.

Belinda (1/5): Appalling - Was placed in a room that was next to a generator. The entire room vibrated all night. Opened the window and could smell sewerage. Was offered another room, however had to leave early in morning. They did not tell me the office would be closed till 4pm so when I returned to change I could not contact them. The phone numbers on display were of an old staff member that had left months ago, and they would not answer other phones. We ended up deciding to leave. Staff member called in anger and lied, said old staff member left yesterday. They lie, place you in unsanitary and unseeable areas and then hide. Do not book. PS: Also no refunds

Though warm water was available the shower didn't have any pressure to take a proper bath with. There was no window in my room.

Jalaja (5/5): Not pleasant except for food - The chef in the restaurant was friendly and he cooked vegetarian dinner and prepared breakfast for us at 8 AM. Both tasted really good. Room was very congested and small, there was no place to keep our luggage, bunk bed was on the floor and it was very cold during the night to sleep in the bunk bed. Bathroom was very small and congested.

Melissa (10/5): Unpretentious comfortable place to stay, would recommend - Friendly customer service on arrival, good communication, easy checkin, parking right outside room door, restaurant doors away from room with yummy and affordable food, outdoor kitchen with microwave and airfryer available, hot shower, comfy beds and pillows, water bottles available as not able to drink from tap, filtered water available for refilling, drying room onsite, unpretentious vibe, 11mins from Jindabyne shops, working aircon heater, small fridge with freezer, assorted coffee teas and sugar, kettle in room. Double outlet at head of bed. Double bed and bunk bed. Small cosy room. Not much table space, but I had a small folding table with us anyway so used that and it came in handy. Brought my own slippers, floor was very cold. Dirty pan brush with someone elses hair in it and swept dust still in it is the first thing to see when you open the door to the room. Unclear instructions with checking out when early checkout. Very limited reception in rooms/ on whole of property.

Shani (9/5): Great family and budget friendly accomadation! - Great family friendly accomodation and was the best price for a place to stay in Jindabyne during snow season. The heating was excellent after a frosty day on the slopes and the bathroom was very spacious. Staff were very friendly!

Jane (10/5): Will be staying again. - Absolutely loved my stay at Carinya Village Motel! The scenic views of the surrounding wildlife and the beautiful river right onsite were breathtaking. It's perfectly located just 5-10 minutes from the town center, away from busy car parks. The onsite restaurant served delicious and fresh dinners that were a highlight of my stay. The common fireplace was a cozy touch, especially on chilly evenings. Overall, I'd highly recommend Carinya Village Motel for its stunning setting, tasty food, and warm atmosphere. Can't wait to come back! The only minor drawback was the WiFi, which was a bit slow – understandable given the influx of visitors in Jindabyne with everyone online at once. The whole of Jindabyne's internet is slower during peak hours and holidays.

From the moment I arrived, the girl at reception was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making check-in smooth and pleasant. A lovely touch was the complimentary spring water bottles provided in the room , such a thoughtful gesture. The room was clean and comfortable, and the food from the on-site restaurant was delicious and well-prepared. It was great to have everything I needed in one place. Overall, it’s a great place to stay convenient, comfortable, and with genuinely kind service. Highly recommended.

If you like nature and beautiful scenery it’s a nice getaway from the city. Some guests were quite noisy and rude to the staff expecting metropolitan vibes.

The underfloors of the apartments need to be insulated as the cold air at night comes through the floor, regardless of how much heating the A/C puts out.

Jane (10/5): Value for money!!! - We had a fantastic stay at this motel! The location is perfect – just a 5-10 minute drive from major supermarkets like Woolworths, with plenty of parking and no hassle. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms, especially given the affordable price. The photos on the booking site were an accurate representation, and we were impressed by the overall cleanliness and charm of the property. The kids had a blast spotting peacocks and wild kangaroos, and we even caught a glimpse of a platypus in the river onsite – what a treat! The games room and adorable kittens running around the property kept the kids occupied and happy. We'd definitely book again on our next trip. The motel has great potential and we'd love to see it continue to thrive. Highly recommended!!!! Onsite Restaurant food was amazing but shuts at 9pm

Andreina (10/5): - A shoutout to the staff (especially the lady at reception) who dealt promptly and proactively with issues with our accommodation and offered us a solution to our satisfaction. Our family enjoyed our stay at Carinya and were very comfortable after long days at the snow. We had plenty of space and warmth for our family of 5. BYO drinking water (easy to do as there is a WW in town) and no phone access... a good opportunity to truly have off grid time! Walls were paper thin and unfortunately we were bothered by inconsiderate fellow stayers who played loud music into the early morning.
