Guest Reviews
- Nicole (10/5): Great family friendly location - Fantastic stuff, really made to feel welcome
- Nicola (10/5): Another perfect stay - As always, we loved our stay at Lokuthula, thank you :) The layout works very well, the location is fantastic and the staff are exceptionally friendly and efficient. Special thanks to Rufaro and the rest of the reception team for being so lovely when we arrived and told them our luggage was lost. They were so kind offering to help with that issue. Another big thanks to them for giving us the furthest lodge along when we asked for somewhere quiet. Pity about the constant helicopter noise!
One little criticism is the shower curtain. It doesn't work very well and no matter what we tried, the floor was saturated after we showered.
Other than that, we can't wait to return and spend more time with the special people and of course we look forward to the daily visits from the bushbuck and warthogs :)
- cheryl (10/5): - Property was in a great location and perfect for 3 friends (or a family) to have space to stretch out and be comfortable. Walkable to the main lodge where dining, bar and beautiful watering hole can be seen for animal viewing, sunrise/sunsets. Amazing! Boma drum dinner on property so fun. Staff friendly and helpful. Very clean. Air transfer to/from Victoria Falls airport arranged through reception was very easy and reasonably priced. Shuttle to town/falls very convenient and taxi too. Highly recommend.
- Katherine (10/5): - Lokuthula lodge was a perfect location for our family. The accommodation was comfortable with a large bathroom, 2 bedrooms, and sleeper couches. We loved the quiet area for the lodges with warthogs, monkeys, and bushbucks roaming daily. We had convenient access to the main lodge for restaurants and drinks over looking the game at the watering hole. We walked to the Boma dinner - which was great fun! And the convenient shuttle brought us to and from town. Really, it was perfect. And the staff was energetic and always helpful.
- Christine (8/5): - No complimentary drinking water. Shower curtain did not retain water, floor soaked. Beautiful property to walk around.
- Jade (10/5): - We had a beautiful holiday, couldnt have asked for anything more. Our cleaner Stanley was brilliant and so helpful. The wildlife makes it :)
- Rodney (10/5): - Very clean having a high standard, staff very friendly and helpful.
- Mr M M T (4/5): - It's not as it is advertised. Really old lodge, holes in the tent cover over the Windows! Utensils need an upgrade. Tried to give feedback when leaving, seemed no interest in listening. Not worth the money.
- Molly (10/5): - Loved the on site shuttle! It took is to all the activities and shopping we needed off property as well. No car, parking or map needed!
- Kate (10/5): - The customer service was exceptional, and the surroundings were just magical. Perfect stay.
- Andiswa (10/5): - Great place to unwind in nature. Lots of amazing wild animals roaming freely in the area. Felt in my element as I connected with nature. Boma drum and dance just a walk away. Vic Falls and other sites close to the location.
- Nigel (8/5): - Property Setting is fantastic, totally in touch with nature.
Will definitely visit again
- John (10/5): - The surrounding National Park.
- Joanne (10/5): - This is an amazing resort. We stayed in a 2 bedroom lodge. You had warthogs, deer, mongoose and monkeys roaming around the grounds and there is a waterhole nearby. There was feeding the vultures which was interesting. The pools and restaurants were lovely. The highlight was the Boma dinner and drums which is a must if you stay here. The staff were very friendly and helpful
- Kristy (10/5): - This place is amazing! If you booked no tours and just stayed here, you would still feel like you’ve been on safari in Africa. We had breakfast with monkeys every morning. Baboons, warthogs and mongoose wander freely around the lodges and you can see all sorts of animals wander to the waterhole, including elephants, while having your meals at the Baffalo Bar.
The staff make you feel at home and cannot do enough to make you feel comfortable. Room service comes to clean and make your beds every day and everyone is welcoming. Meals are available from 3 on-site restaurants. There is a day spa and swimming pools. Don’t forget to see the free daily Vulture Culture feeding experience and to go to the Boma drumming dinner experience at least once during your stay.
We stayed for 8 nights and we would have loved to stay longer. It is a very special place. Don’t forget to look up ‘Pack For a Purpose’ before you leave as Lokuthula Lodges supports 2 local programs: Local Schools and Antipoaching. We found this just before we left and it’s a really nice way to give back to this beautiful part of the world.
- Martha (10/5): - Amazing property and facility; staff are excellent.
Highly recommend!
- kari (6/5): - We would’ve ranked this property a little higher if the pictures were a little more accurate. This is actually two properties a very nice lodge and then the other side, which is like Airbnb hut. They were not bad, but going in we were under the impression of the pictures from the lodge. So they need to probably separate the pictures into two different properties.
- Maria (10/5): - The entire property was beautiful and well-maintained.
The staff members were extremely gracious and went above and beyond in helping us coordinate our travel plans. We wish we could have spent more time at Lokuthula to fully enjoy the experience.
- Joseph (6/5): - Two bedrooms that sleep 5 should have 2 bathrooms.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Reception closed. No bug net for the extra beds.
- Celia (10/5): - Beautiful and different looking property, it made my first stay in Zimbabwe enjoyable
- Gabriel (8/5): Good, clean and spacious - Everything was good as expected and advertised. We will gladly go back
- Sara (10/5): - What an amazing experience. I can’t recommend enough!
- Miriam (10/5): - Nature
- FELISTUS (10/5): - The staff were amazing, I changed my booking twice but nothing was too much for them they were always happy to assist.
The rooms were clean and tidy. The grounds were immaculate.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the fact that we could walk to and from the Boma was a bonus.
- Sarah (8/5): - Was a really unique stay in a traditional style lodge (because of the dark wood and the thatched roof, which comes low to the ground the rooms inside can be quite dark. It is typical of the style and not a problem unless you are someone who prefers light bright rooms)
We absolutely loved the warthogs and monkeys roaming freely in the grounds. A lovely place to stay for a proper African experience!
- tafadzwa (10/5): Amazing location! - Friendly staff great service and beautiful spot to enjoy African nature and relax.
- julie (10/5): - Animals running wild
- Marcin (10/5): - Safe, quiet
- Kerrie Jo (10/5): - My favorite hotel on the planet & I've traveled all over the world. It's beyond amazing to sit on their deck & watch the elephants, crocs, kudo & many others while down at the watering hole. Wonderful.
- Jennifer (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed out stay here, the lodge was just right for us with young children. We felt safe and enjoyed the animals around us.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
- Fatuma A (8/5): - Location
- Shatish (6/5): - No Wi-Fi
- Sally (10/5): - The tranquil retreat we needed, the place lives up to its name “Lokuthula”. Plenty of wildlife roaming around. Great dining options with The Boma nearby and restaurants in the Vic Falls Safari lodge and A la carte restaurants. Plenty to do in Vic Falls all you need is time and money.
- Karen (10/5): - We loved the quiet location of this property with warthogs, mongeese, and impala literally right outside our back door. The lodge was open with canvas panels, but had locking gates, as well as screens and bars on windows for safety from people and wildlife. We could walk around the property, catch a shuttle to town, or walk up to the lodge for lunch or dinner. Our excursion driver coordinated with the lodge and picked us up right at our door. The Boma dinner was a short walk away also. We appreciated having an in-room safe also.
We would have liked a place to easily purchase bottled water or cold drinks on site, but loved the location and the lodge otherwise.
- bridie (8/5): - Easy dostance to Victoria Safari Lodge to watch animals at waterhole and use bar and restaurant
- Shingai (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay to the fullest!!
- Andrew (8/5): - Excellent stay in 2 bedroom lodge, basic but very adequate facilities, clean and comfortable and a reasonable price. Option to use the two restaurants on site is excellent; Boma dinner was good and drumming fun. Free transfer bus to town and falls is great.
- Robert (10/5): - The lodge, the staff and the surrounding were absolutely superb. Would recommend this to everyone who loves the bush
- Johan (8/5): - Nice in quiet good place to stay with family
- Shingai (10/5): - Keep it up. We had a wonderful stay.
- Rumbi (10/5): - An amazing experience, we'll be back! Excellent service from staff. Lodges have scenic views with wildlife roaming around. They are a 7 minute drive from the Victoria Falls/town, with an efficient shuttle service running every 2 hours. Facilities were very clean, though bathroom tired. The small outdoor play area with swings, trampoline etc was an added bonus. On the first night the number of mosquitos in our lodge were of great concern, we made good use of mosquito repellent, insect spray, and closed windows just before sunset- we spotted a couple second day.
- stephanie (2/5): - The property is beautiful and well situated with frequent transport into town etc. Thatched roofs are lovely to look at but have gaping holes in roof where mosquitoes enter in freely and often. NO windows in two rooms and large gaps in screen covering also led to this. Our experience was so unpleasant. We killed 20 mosquitos the first night and there were even mosquitoes inside the nets our children were sleeping in. we couldn't relax, even on the toilet, as you were constantly being bombarded. We called and asked for a new room, one with windows, which they didn't have. They gave us a can of raid and some creams for mosquitos. Malaria is real and we have small children. We left after the first night and went to Elephant Hills, which had windows that closed. I want the hotel to refund the 2 nights we did not stay as they couldn't help us or offer us safe accommodation. The grounds are beautiful with much wildlife, but I think they have restrictions on how they can handle mosquitos as a result. They have a great play area for kids and are right next to the Doma, which is good and bad (can be loud at night).
- Claudio (8/5): - Friendly staff. Place is excellent for families. Swimming pool is small, if the lodge was crowded, it would be hard to use the swimming pool .
Awesome time overall. I Recommend
- Vinit (10/5): - Excellent property, very well maintained
- bongie (10/5): - The wifi...was the best!!!
- Amanda (10/5): - We loved how beautiful the surrounding property was. It felt very secluded but having the Boma restaurant close by was awesome. Watching the warthogs, deer, and birds from our lodge was a highlight!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Best service ever, staff always bring their customers first and are well informed. Cleanliness is at its first class. Thanks team.
- Alanfallows (10/5): - Great lodges. Nice reception on arrival. Very attentive. Same site as boma drum and dinner.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The lodges hsve all the basic amenities abf can easily fit a family of FOUR. They didn't provide any shampoo or body wash which was quite annoying. The quality of the pool available to residents was poor.
We visited the restaurant at teh sister Lodge-Safari club which is so much better and nicer. The breakfast there wiry a view is outstanding.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was very hot (as expected) the mezzanine floor open bedrooms are in the roof space of the thatched lodges and are very hot even at night and as such pretty well unusable. The mosquito net proved In the loft space area was also useless as there were spaces between the planks of the wooden floor allowing mosquitoes to come up between the planks and so inside the net. The 2 “bedroom “accommodation has one proper air conditioned bedroom and a roof space and the 3 “bedroom” accommodation has 2 proper air conditioned bedrooms and a roof space. It would be fine in cool weather but otherwise I would advise only booking 4 people in the 3 bed and 2 people in the 2 bed chalets. Otherwise the place is fantastic and the staff and facilities are great. We were able to move from a 2 bed to a 3 bed chalet for our second night which meant all 4 of us got some sleep 😊
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Like: structure of the room, nearby restaurants, wild animals
Dislike: we were staying in #16 and could hear loud music from its restaurant till 10pm every night...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location and facilities. The access to the Safari Lodge dinning and shuttle bus to the Vic Falls.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was clean and serviced each day. Wifi was good when we never had power cuts. Unfortunately Lodge 27 is so far from the hotel to catch the bus, especially with elderly parents
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lokuthula cabins are 3 levels, with master bed and bath on main level, additional loft bedroom of 2 twin beds, then sunken living and kitchen with outside patio table in yard with bbq pit. Great Boma restaurant and ability to use facilities at sister property Victoria Falls Safari Lodge (VFSL) with beautiful watering hole for viewing the animals! Absolutely loved Lokuthula and VFSL!!!
- RW (10/5): Very happy stay - We had 2 stays of 1 night each, en route to Botswana. Loved the setting and the individual lodges are well equipped for self catering. We ate at the Safari Lodge and at the Boma. Both were good and happy experiences. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Would like to go for longer next time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The lodges are located very close to the falls and they provide a shuttle right to the falls entrance. There are also two restaurants on site. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is nice and quiet, however, bring a lot of mosquito repellent.... you're going to need it!
- Linda (8/5): When in Vic Falls....... - We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Lokathula. The chalet was comfortable, the sheets were clean and the water hot! Our lodge attendant and the staff in general were efficient and helpful. The shuttle running regularly to town was great as was the free wi-fi vouchers and access to the main lodge facilities. The only thing lacking was a bread knife! Hard to cut bread with a steak knife!!! The tea/coffee/sugar supplies should be replenished each day. As the lodges are self catering, It would also
be nice if a small tuck shop with basic groceries was available on site.
The friendly warthogs and banded mongooses around the chalets were a delight.
Mosquito repellant is a must- spray works well as do coils - and remember to close the verandah flaps - the monkeys are very clever!!
I will definitely recommend Lokathula for those visiting Vic Falls and interested in self catering accommodation.

- Michael (10/5): Excellent location for Victoria Falls - This is a great location for all the wonders of Victoria Falls. A cabin with 3 bedrooms can accommodate 8 given that there are also two settees. Self-catering, but the nearby hotel provides breakfast. The Boma is on the same site for an entertaining evening.Great view of a watering hole from the hotel with lots of animals. Some pesky mosquitoes but nets are good. Free bus to town and falls.
- Andrew (10/5): Fantastic stay and value in Victoria Falls m - This was our second stay in the Safari Lodge complex but the first time at Lokuthula. The service was outstanding at all levels. Lokuthula offers self catering but meals can also be purchased as we did. It offers one if the best values of any hotel we have stayed as there is complimentary shuttle service into Victoria Falls and the room had 3 levels and far exceeded our expectations.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was beautiful staying at this property. Very well maintained.
- Cathie (8/5): - A great option with character space and wildlife
- Brandon (10/5): Great Stay! - I had an amazing time at the lodge! I think we even got a better room! It was clean, spacious, and had great features. The restaurant on site was also amazing. I love how close it is to the wild!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very quiet peaceful setting with animals roaming the lodge grounds. The staff were exceptionally friendly & helpful
- Eoin (8/5): - Lovely setting, friendly staff (mostly) but the cost of food (breakfast & Boma) is waaayy overpriced for the variety / quality.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Roaches were just in the bed on 2 different days. Lodges were large but not well maintained. Kitchen smelt like grease.
- Alison (10/5): Best of all worlds - We decided too book Lokuthula lodges for the last 3 nights of our holiday and this was a very good decision. Arrangements and check in and out were smooth and easy. Much to my surprise despite the lodges being self-catering, clean towels arrived every day and the bed was made. The breakfast was included and was excellent, with a good choice of cooked breakfast, real juice and fresh coffee, yogurts, fruit, toast, cheeses etc etc. All staff were friendly and helpful. There were warthogs in the grounds which were beautiful and well kept. As if this wasn't enough, most of the facilities of Victoria Falls Safari Lodge were available to us including the free shuttle bus going into town. The bus drivers went out of their way to be helpful, and even to show us the bull elephant in the shadows beside the road one evening. They dropped you off at your door after dark on the way back from town. The staff at the VFSL helped us with flight queries. If you go to Victoria Falls, consider this place, particularly if you have a family. We were a couple, but our lodge would have slept 6. We will be back.
- Sanjay (8/5): 4 nights at vic falls - Lodge was very clean and the facillties were more than adequate. Only negative was that the buffet food laid out for breakfast was not covered at all to protect from the flies. Given the environment this i thought should have been considered already. Cooked breakfast was very nice and alterations to suit individual requirements were made as requested. Overall the stay was very comfortable.
- dean (10/5): perfect - perfect position , excellent free shuttle service to town .
- Brendan (10/5): Great lodge - Fun time at this great lodge. Excellent view of a waterhole from a deck. Also great to see Vulture feeding. And a fun evening spent at the Boma - dinner and drums.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great option for a family or group, very cool accommodation, free shuttle into town/falls, lots of wildlife around.
- RC (8/5): Semi rustic lodge near Victoria Falls - Comfortable accommodations, a bit rustic, but it is Africa. It was a bit hot at night, no AC for hot nights.
- Jamie (10/5): Lokuthala Lodge - a great stay in Victoria Falls. - Excellent location. Beautiful grounds. Food and cocktails at the restaurant were great, as was the pool. Free shuttle into town.
- Dave (4/5): Feeling ripped off - It was not disclosed that the main (and highly recommended ) restaurant and patio bar were closed due to renovations. Left us with only one bar/restaurant with very limited menu on this remote property. Ants in the rooms and worn out mattresses that pinged and snapped as the coil spring threatened to come through. Definitely not worth the money
- Chingy74 (10/5): Clean accommodation - Pleasant staff and clean accommodations, near to town and all activities.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Breathtaking View - The view from the hotel deck is absolutely breathtaking!! Breakfast is delicious offering a great selection and caters for everyone. The staff are extremely courteous and do their best to please. The lodges are well equipped for self catering and comfortable. The shuttle service is very efficient, even from the lodges to the hotel when it was raining. Don't miss the Vulture Feeding at 1pm (everyday at the hotel), absolutely awesome experience.
You must go for dinner at "The Boma" - true cultural food, atmosphere and drumming experience. AWESOME!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Enjoyed or stay. Nice amenities - pool and restaurants. Wildlife on property - warthogs, baboons, Elam, ....Be aware though, Lofothuka Lodges are open air - windows and separation between living room and patio are tent walls. Also, no AC. Staff were friendly and helpful. Shuttle to town takes 5 min and runs on the hour.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice staff, good facilities, nice food and convenient shuttle bus to the main tourist spots. Rooms very nice too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great spot and awesome service - We stayed here for two days early December and I have to say the lodge is a great place with warthogs, deer and monkeys roaming outside your door. The only thing i would caution on is that the rooms did not have an AC unit and it can get a bit hot however the lodge is built with an option to completely open the front to the outdoors but we didn't do that since my wife is not comfortable with bugs / mosquitos coming in. The stay was very nice and the rooms were clean and accommodated my two kids (4 and 6 years old) and two adults. A bonus is that the adjacent higher end safari club is walking distance and you can have breakfast there and watch the animals visit the water hole. The Boma dinner is a must great experience with shows and an awesome drumming experience for everyone to participate in. There is also a nice pool that we didn't get to use due to time constraints. Make sure to book the safari river cruise with bushtracks it was awesome as well as the guided Victoria falls tour.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Poor service. Room full of mosquitoes. - Many mosquitoes in the rooms. Hot with poor ventilation.
- Gwen (8/5): Victoria Falls stop over - Nice layout, three bedroom three leveled, canvas walled, thatch roof, tile floor. No air conditioning but ceiling fans kept us comfortable. Misquito netting over beds. Kitchen but only one grocery store with limited selections so don't think most would use kitchen. Safari Lodge hotel with restaurant at least 10 minute walk on dirt road from individual lodges. Nice restaurant with excellent quality reasonably priced selections overlooking watering hole where we saw giraffes, deer and other wildlife and birds. Wild wart hogs gracing on lawn. Fair distance from town and falls but shuttle runs every hour so very convenient. 30$ cab ride to airport. Staff was very helpful trying to track down our luggage which didn't arrive until 2 days after our arrival.
