Guest Reviews
- Harjit (6/5): - Kinda old and run down. Towels were so bad. Smelt smoke in the room
Staff was very nice though!
- Explore59992658409 (10/5): Clean Hotel with Warm hospitality - Hotel is clean, rooms are good size and well-maintained. The reception, dinning and room service staff are supportive, decent, polite, humble and co-operative. Food quality is very good, hygiene is maintained and the room service is also very nice. Dinner spread is exceptionally good, with wide choice of items. Only issue is the hotel doesnt have lift/elevator facility and it is located on 1st and 2nd floor with huge steps to climb.
- Bejawn Harbhajan (2/5): - No lift had to clime 27 steps. No porters and Werribee difficult for 88 year person clime. I cancelled my booking with hotel right away. No news from Expedi regarding refund?
- Ravijyot (8/5): - The hotel doesn’t have a lift which was problematic for those with mobility issues in our group. The staff were kind and went out of their way to help us with local phonecalls & taxis which was appreciated & accommodated us when extending our stay.
A few minor enhancements would improve the room e.g. having hooks behind the door in bathroom or a rail to hang towels. Breakfast could have more continental options but was not bad for what we paid. There was building work going on immediately outside the hotel which made it v dusty & noisy too.
- SidSarkar (6/5): Average but not bad. Clean enough, but old and outdated feel. - Sleep quality is good, but cleanliness and amenities are strictly average.
For the price, I still feel it is better than what you get at a metro city or tourist destination. Very well located with restaurants, spas, and other business areas close by. The lock for room 210 wasn't working and they had to use the master key to lock when I stepped out for dinner. The morning breakfast was satisfactory. Poori chana being the highlight.
Have to use a few high steps to reach the reception and then rooms are further up. I wasn't taken to any elevator so I wouldn't know if that works exists.
- Subrata2304 (10/5): Courteous service - This hotel is situated in the middle of the city with a market place, atm and bank under it. This is not a fancy hotel in appearance, but, their promptness, courtesy, food quality, service, basic facilities can easily surpass the same of many 3 star hotels.
Only drawback of this hotel: Has around 45 steps in one wing and around 30 steps in main wing. They do not have lift.
Service:
We requested for breakfast to be packed for atleast children and the amount and variety of breakfast they packed was sufficient for us two adults and two children.
I requested for check out at 3am in the morning, the manager gave his personal number, in case, people in reception does not pick up call. He made sure that the luggages I did not have to carry.
They provided electric kettle, complimentary tea bag, coffee powder, milk powder.
Food:
It is a vegetarian hotel and the food was tasty enough for me not to miss non-veg food.
Rooms:
We stayed in the family room in the new wing. It had two big comfy beds. The room air conditioner control worked properly, which is actually very rare in the hotel industry.
Satisfaction:
Would not have to think twice before booking this hotel again if I have to ever visit Chandigarh again. Loved their service.
- Global61604799100 (2/5): Worst hotel in Chandigarh Ever! Never go!!! - We DID NOT get the room we paid for, the so called royal room with city view. What we got was a smelly, worn down room with stained headboard, dusty pull out bed for the additional bed requested with smelly blankets, smelly towels, broken tap, dirty walls, and no room service. When requested for a room change they said it'll be arranged the next day but it never happened. Complete nightmare and worst experience ever in Chandigarh. The hotel had no lift and my senior parents had to walk up the stairs. So called restaurant is at another side we had to walk down and walk up on the other side. The photos are just gimmick the rooms are disastrous. The floor was so dirty my feet was black. I wish Agoda would take action on the hotel for lying to customers. I want a full refund if possible. Horrible experience ever!
- Roam63920029059 (10/5): Good hotel but little overpriced - Good experience we stayed in panchkula Chandigarh
Staff is good and friendly and hospitality good
A little over priced hotel I think
Food is good
We find one of the restraunt staff Mr Tanmoy Ganguly very helpful and polite,
Over all experience very good
- Jet33437632201 (2/5): No thanks, never again - We only stayed one night, but we would never want to stay here again. Our room was not clean, the light switches, bedside table tops, the couch, the outside of the fridge were filthy and grubby ... I didn't dare look closer. When we opened the wardrobe, we encountered 2 bugs merrily walking along the top of the door. In the shower, I used a tissue to clean a ledge I wanted to place my soap on. The tissue was black after one wipe. In the bed we found a hair and a dead little insect. We just did not feel comfortable at all.
The large windows overlook a huge carpark, so we had to keep the curtains drawn all the time. At night incredibly loud fast-paced beats kept us awake till 3 o'clock in the morning. Apart from that we heard the telephone ringing at reception all the time, doors slamming, loud conversations, clanging and banging from inside the hotel, as well as engines running, cars coming and leaving, doors being slammed shut and loud conversations from the car park. We were completely knackered this morning.
On the plus side: all staff were very friendly.
- Gagan (4/5): - The food service was so bad staff was not attending the guests properly
- M389CDlisat (2/5): Very unsatisfactory - We booked a non smoking room with a window including towels, hair-dryer and free wi-fi. We got a windowless room that smelt of cigarette smoke. There was an ashtray so someone had clearly smoked in the room. We had to ask for towels and a hair-dryer. Wifi was having "technical issues". Their answer to the smell was to spray the room with air freshener.
We asked for a better room and got one with a window but still smelt of cigarettes. Again the answer was to spray the room with air freshener. We had one towel but had to ask for a second. There is a night club downstairs which kept us awake the last night of our stay.
- optymystyx (8/5): Overall a good hotel - The hotel is good. There are nice and well organized room. Cordial staff and good food.
The only thing to note is that there is no lift and you have to take stairs to reach it.
Sukhna Lake and Art museum are nearby so you can enjoy it.
We stayed here to shorten our travel from Manali to Delhi
- Sraf4 (10/5): Great customer care - Our 3 night stay was faultless
Great location for sightseeing around Chandīgarh
Excellent reception staff whom accommodated our needs immediately
Basic spacious family rooms with all you need for a comfortable stay
Nice breakfast included with helpful staff serving you promptly
Thankyou Hotel Emerald
- Aditya (10/5): - Nice
- Scenic02691935396 (10/5): Hygienic...neat and tidy rooms...lv this hotel..nice family rooms - Very nice hotel .nice meeting with ram mohit and his team .very hospitable staff .planing to visit again..neat and clean rooms washrooms.. receptionist named Ashish ji was very nice person.delicious food ..
- 388varunr (2/5): Please avoid, lot of other options on Madhya Marg - Dilapidated walls, stained curtains, yellowed pillow covers, dirty rooms, a small window like a jail cell, this must be worst than a dormitory - completely below average. Really a bad hotel to stay in.
Can’t believe there is a hotel like this in Madhya Marg, could really use some TLC
- clarices846 (2/5): Worst hotel to stay in Chandigarh - This hotel was filthy & substandard leaking taps , mouldy showers and the room I stayed in was riddled with tiny German cockroaches , I’d never stay here again or recommend anyone to stay here .
I think the other reviews for this hotel must be fake .
This hotel was a disgrace
- Gankam77 (2/5): Not worth to stay - I had booked one room for one night but was shocked to see the room without window or balcony. I requested for another room but they refused even there were some empty rooms. Another problem - Receiption staff was not there for 2 or 3 hours whenever i needed some services. Staff was helpful but unprofessional n not wearing uniform. Also they were not well educated. Hotel was so small n above shopping complex n we needed to walk upstairs as there was no lift. Pilllow covers n blankets were untidy n dirty n not washed after use. Chair covers were dirty. They didnt provide buffet breakfast but sent limited pure veg food to our room. Tv was not working properly. Not worth to stay.
- ARNAB (10/5): - good
- ARNAB (10/5): - good
- Verified traveler (4/5): Good location but pathetic service - Have booked this room for a night stay as I had to do some office work while staying in Chandigarh however the wifi service in hotel was pathetic. Room was changed with a view that I'll get better wifi signal however no use. I had to use my mobile data to be connected.
Cleanliness and Comfort wasn't up to the mark, asked hotel staff to change the pillow but no one came to even see it. Had to leave the hotel without even staying the night. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Samir (8/5): - So so property... Good for a night stay
- stuti_dr (4/5): Just average. - The hotel is not exactly how it appears in the photos. They did book for 3 people in 1 room but there was no extra bed. The breakfast was good but the service is slow. The room is decent and hotel was overall clean. You have to climb up as there is no lift.
- LifeatHimalayan (6/5): Just OK - Hotel location is very nice. Rooms are big in size but not well maintained. Limited food items in the menus. No non vegetarian dishes un the menu. Unprofessional staffs no dress code. So much noise creating by the staffs at the front desk. Not really great experience.
- Simrankandare (10/5): Service was good - Hotel rooms was clean and hygienic. Food was teasty and healthy food, service was good ,front office management frndly nature and specially miss manpreet kaur very nice nature and she is very helpful .
- Deepak3566 (10/5): Staff behaviour was good - Hotel location was good, and neat located market, sukhna lake and rock garden also, staff was very helpful and friendly and service was good and breakfast buffet was good, and food was delicious and healthy
- 321lwashi (10/5): Overall good - It was really good experience... The behavior of the staff is really good polite......... The hotel was well equipped and wonderful maintained...... The staff were extremely helpful and location was great near market
- L3054CGpankajs (10/5): Hotel Emerald was good - This hotel is right in center of sector 8 C. Great hotel with well trained professionals staff , great rooms , clean and higienic washroom ,staff is very humble., Helpful and attentive and front office staff was very cooperative and stay was very nice
- Bhatt321 (10/5): Wonderful Experience - Great little hotel with some cool features and quirky tuches. Amazing value for money and the staff are friendly and helpful. Fast free wifi is a bouns. Near market and it's located in the main cuty and all stay was good.
- Animesh (6/5): - Stayed in their Royal rooms, not even close to the photos uploaded. Rooms are poorly lit and completely different from the photos. Service for the complimentary breakfast was pathetic, nothing was available on time, need to followup multiple times.
- Kuldip S. (10/5): - It is not bad et all, only thing, I did not liked is the breakfast. They should do better job serving free breakfast because people paying good money to stay there. It very close to all the attractions, available in Chandigarh.
- ginni (2/5): Rude Staff - Hotel staff was not friendly. They r not accepting international passport then I said cancel the booking so they said this is non refundable booking I can’t cancel this booking. Worst customer service
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid it - Decided to not stay at this dump. This hotel is in a building with a bunch of shops. Very unclean area. No elevator. The hotels is on a high floor divided in two wings.
- Yatindra (8/5): Nice and pleasent stay with good breakfast - The overall stay was good except that the alloted room was not as per the booking conditions. Though they managed to provide the necessary expectations, but it took quite some time which was a little inconvenient at the time of check-in which was post midnight. They could have been more sensitive to the needs beforehand.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient Location, Reasonable Price - Hotel is conveniently located and price of the room is quite reasonable. Staff were friendly and helpful
- Beth (6/5): Good location in central Chandigarh - Hotel Emerald is located in sector 8C, pretty close to the Rose Garden and the market in 17C (we never went there). You could walk from the hotel to Nek Chand's Rock garden and the lake, but it would be a longish walk. It's easy to take tuk-tuks.
The hotel is in one of the many U-shaped strip malls in Chandigarh on Madhya Marg, facing the street. There is a sign up above, which helps you to see it from the street. You get into the hotel through a single door and up a long flight of stairs.
The staff were helpful, but as with many Indian men, they gravitated toward my husband and didn't speak to me until I inserted myself into the conversation.
They put us in a room off the lobby, which was quiet. The bathroom had a large and attractive sink and a shower with a glass divider and a shower curtain. Everything worked, yet there were parts of the bathroom that had been finished somewhat carelessly.
The breakfast buffet, consisting of fruit and chai and instant coffee and Indian dishes such as dal, was good. We had dinner there one night as well, which was fine.
It's easy to walk from the hotel to a greenbelt (park) or to other strip malls. There was a mall nearby that had tons of restaurants, a woman's clothing store, a chemist, and a Cafe Coffee Day.
They arranged a car to Rishikesh for us, with a good driver, but our host in Rishikesh said that we had overpaid. If you wanted to go to the trouble of arranging a car yourself, you might save money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good place - The hotel is clean and serves delicious food. Very close to main tourist destinations and shopping areas of Chandigarh
- Balbir Singh (8/5): - Too much noise from a PUB that us close to the Hotel.
- SURESH (6/5): FEEDBACK - HOTEL IS LOCATED IN A VERY BUSY MARKET PLACE. YOU ARE WELCOMED BY A PARKING BOY WHO IS MORE THEN RUDE AND ALSO TRIED TO ACT FUNNY WITH US. EVEN THOUGH WE TOLD HIM WE HAVE TO STAY IN THE HOTEL.HOTEL SHOULD CONTROL THIS THING .THERE IS NO PLACE FOR DRIVERS TO STAY..REST IS ALRIGHT
